Thanks Pupuce as usual you are a wealthy source of advice

I shall give it a go!!

Beckwith3 I know what you mean by watching everyone else announce their babies and still waiting.....seems to be a lot of boys and I know I am having a girl and no-one has come up with our short list of names. Do you not even have a short list? What day are you due? I think it will be you and I last sadly.

beansprout · 20/10/2004 16:37

Turtle (and anyone else who is still left) I promise to come back as often as possible once Bean is here. I'm now 15 days over the date I originally thought I was due although it's apparently only 11 days (like the use of the word "only" there?! ) so am going to be self appointed guardian of waiting meece. I am keeping everything crossed for speedy deliveries for all of us and then we can go and party on the parenting thread (next stop, cracked nips and no sleep).

Have a "Bean, you ok?" scan tomorrow. Am getting to the "ooh, getting risky" stage apparently. This is SO depressing. I ironed those baby gros WEEKS ago!!!

miffy2 · 20/10/2004 17:33

hi all

Turtle and beckwith I will be hanging on with you, I am due this coming Friday but despite quite strong ontractions on/off since last Friday, nothing is happening. I found last Fri (at 39 weeks) I felt that baby dropped, as I got lots of pressure down below. I also got 'closure' on being pregnant (this is our last planned baby) and am perfectly happy for baby to arrive any time he wants!
We have a short list of names, my bag is packed and this week I have been getting extra sleep in the mornings once the kids are off to school/montessori. However I have planned a trip to town tomorrow am with my mum in the hope that I will have to cancel it!

To all the new mums, many many congrats and take it easy. To those of us waiting, what can I say? The baby WILL come eventually!

Bellie · 20/10/2004 18:13

Pupace - as always you are a font of information and I do respect your advice - I was just passing on the info that I have from the homeopath - she did say that they were only to try if you are close to being induced and did not want to take this option.
Turtle -as far as I am aware you do have to buy these from a qualified homeopath who can talk to you about your individual circumstances - and I would personally never buy them from anywhere else as I would want to discuss effects etc. Try \link{http://www.homeopathic.org\thisplace] as a starting point for one in your area.

Bellie · 20/10/2004 18:16

oops no good with linkms sorry. here

Turtle35 · 20/10/2004 21:41

I am feeling so lousy this evening, really hot, sore back and feel incredibly emotional, feel quite pathetic really, seen as how I still can't do much around the house I am sick of asking DH to do everything.

Bean you are one patient Moose!! Good luck with scan. I hope you come back and visit this thread once little bean has arrived, there isn't many of us left now!

Miffy you will have baby very soon I bet seen as how this is number 3!! It's good to hear from you and good for you getting extra rest - you will need it.

pupuce · 20/10/2004 21:50

Bellie - I am not a qualified homeopath .... just speaking from experience using a homeopathic birth kit and having done some courses.... hey I tried caullophyllum on myself (before I was a doula and when I knew very little)... and it did work after 6 hours of taking it (or was it coincidental) but it did launch me in a fairly heavy labour quite quickly.... and that really is not ideal. I was lucky to have a "good" birth despite having 6 hours of 2nd stage. To this day I have no clue why they didn't ventouse me earlier... I am really glad they did now !
I was 40W+ 10 and I was worried I'd be induced.

pupuce · 20/10/2004 21:50

Turtle - mood swings are good

florenceuk · 20/10/2004 22:04

just popping in to give moral support and offers of virtual chocolate icecream...Think of the joys of sore nipples and wobbly pelvic floors to come...

beansprout · 20/10/2004 22:41

I know how you feel Turtle - I am usually cold from September until about May but at the moment, I am the one in the vest top while dp is under about 3 layers of jumpers!

Think I am coming to terms with the fact that I am never actually going to give birth. Once you get used to the idea, it's ok....
Actually want Bean to hang on a day or two as then s/he will be a scorpio (same as me) and we can gang up on people (heh heh).

Piiigliiiit!!!

Bellie · 21/10/2004 07:33

Pupuce - I guess the homeopathic remedy is not very much different from the medicinal one in terms of b ringing on labour - I have been told that you tend to get quicker/heavier contractions if you are induced - I guess it is how you feel about natural v medicinal interventions .
I am trying not to have too many medicinal intervientions as I tend to be quite allergic to a lot of pain releif type drugs - however having said that as I have never been through labour before I am sure that I will have the entire cocktail

Felt sure I was having contractions last night but they stopped after 3 hours and not returned since DH just grunted in his sleep and went well wake me when they are really close !!

beansprout · 21/10/2004 09:49

Bellie - fingers crossed that was the start of something!

I seem to be increasingly covered in a tiny rash... not sure what that's about?
Wrote "Way Out" in big letters on my belly last night, with an arrow pointing to the exit... and then had to use the nail brush to get it off this morning before I go for my scan.

How are you feeling today Turtle?
Is everyone else ok?

Turtle35 · 21/10/2004 10:40

Bean maybe the trick is to start asking little bean to stay in maybe you could start breaking world records and things for the longest ever pregnancy

I feel a bit better today, last night was a shocker for sleep though, I just hate going to bed now as my entire body just aches when I am in bed for more than hour, when I get up for the loo I have to hang on to walls and doors etc to help me walk cause my pelvis and hips ache so bad. Hands are really swollen today -

Bellie that's a great sign of things to come your DH sounds just like mine

OP posts:
pupuce · 21/10/2004 10:46

Beansprout - I would have left the indication on belly - make the sonographer laugh too!

beansprout · 21/10/2004 10:54

Turtle- reverse psychology - good idea! I will adopt a nonchalant air and drop in phrases like "Bean? Nope, no-one of that name in these parts..."
My hips ache so much in the night which makes being on my side v uncomfortable, but of course, back and front are out too. As meece perhaps we should be able to sleep standing up?

Turtle35 · 21/10/2004 11:01

Absolutely, my DH keeps saying I bet you wish you were a horse!! Like that helps at the time.

yes try the carefree attitude like "maybe today, maybe next week, maybe next month" !!! That will then trick little bean to thinking maybe I do want out....awww then that seems mean to play games with a tiny baby - God I am loosing my marbles.

I sometimes wake up on my back and though it feels incredibly uncomfortable it's giving my hips a break, then I get freaked out that the baby isn't getting blood from the placenta and I am wide a wake wondering how long I've been on my back for etc, I wish this wasn't so totally mind consuming at night. I also think poor DB is gone from comforting foetal position to spread eagle when I wake up on my back and I know she wouldn't like that

OP posts:
huppa · 21/10/2004 11:17

Just popping in to see how things are going. Hope things start happening soon for you all. Reverse psychology may do the trick -you never know.

Bibiboo · 21/10/2004 15:49

I'm telling you ladies, the way to go is to do something that you'll regret should the baby come (like my paintless, shoddy bathroom) which you will then be too tired/penniless/preoccupied to fix once baby has arrived - so go forth Meece and wreck a room in you house! and may a wet mattress and some contractions wake you from your slumber tonight ...

beansprout · 21/10/2004 17:35

Three hours at the hospital - lovely!
Bean is good, all checks were fine. Back on Saturday but being pressured to go in on Sunday for induction. I am already over the point at which they would normally induce so it's v much a case of "well, the chance of stillbirth is increasing, so it's up to you...".

Am v miserable as I can just see induction looming.... . I don't know the hospital at all or anyone there and it all feels a bit much at the moment. Off for a cry on dp now...

beckswith3 · 22/10/2004 08:30

morning guys. how are you all this morning? Went out for a friends leaving do last night in a very crowded bar and had great fun (grin), hoped the loudness and laughter might bring the baby on early but it was another uncomfortable night. Bones are killing as well, I also have to hang onto the door, cupboards to get to the bathroom, problem is in the middle of the night trying not to fall over as bones give way or ending up peeing my pants..interesting dilemma!Could do with a zimmer frame! Also have the joy of half term so DS1 and 2 both home all day yesterday for the next week and a half.

bunny2 · 22/10/2004 08:39

beansprout, I keep checking for your news - so sorry it hasnt happened yet . I was induced with ds and it really wasnt so bad.

beansprout · 22/10/2004 09:38

Thanks Bunny, that helps. Look forward to your happy news in the next few weeks too!

Am utterly fed up this morning and dp's snoring has kept me awake . Doc estimated Bean's weight as 9lbs yesterday so either way, it's going to be a lorra lorra fun! Watch out for birth annoucement entitled "F**k me, that hurt!".

Off to eat lots of fruit as I now have so much weight in my pelvis I have piles. Good grief as Charlie Brown would say... Perky Bean has LEFT the building!!

Bellie · 22/10/2004 11:57

Beansprout - I am sure that it will happen before Sunday and although it is hard try and relax.
I have not had any other contraction type pains etc but am very emotional today - the alarm company have just come to check the alarm, told me it is a BT fault and I will have to ring BT and I have just sat and cried for half an hour! Completely irrational or what!!
Am trying to plan lots of things for this weekend just so I am not sitting around waiting for it to happen, but am running out of things to do having brought everything and more for nursery! - any suggestions welcome!

Distracted · 22/10/2004 14:09

Bean am sending you big hugs. I've heard lots of stories of people spontaneously going into labour the day before induction, so hopefully it will happen. If not, at least your db will be here in the next few days. If you're worried about induction making things more painful then just go for an epidural.

No word from Turtle today?

Am looking forward to seeing you all on the October babies thread. Wishing you all good labours - looking forward to more positive birth stories

florenceuk · 22/10/2004 16:23

Beansprout, good to hear that little bean is fine - don't worry, somehow or other it will happen! We are saving a chocolate brownie in the October babies thread...
