hey Bean, the bigger the baby the easier it is. Apparantly little babies come so quick thats when you tear. DS2 was 10lb 5oz, he was very slow for a second labour (10hrs) but no tears or stitches. Plus if little Bean is going to be 9lb odd then he/she will not be wrinkly but just gorgeous.

Ideas for the weekend - wrap up warm go for a slow walk in the park with hubby and lots of sex, that's sure to result in bringing labour on, if not it'll keep you occupied for a while!

clary · 23/10/2004 00:24

yeah beansprout, hoping for the birth centre birth still to come off for you. My easiest birth was the 9lb-er, don't let anyone tell you a 7lb baby doesn't hurt!
I went 10 days over with no 1 and then it just starter, the day before induction. good luck and think open thoughts!

Bellie · 23/10/2004 08:00

Any news Bean and Turtle??

beansprout · 23/10/2004 08:41

Thanks for all the support - means a lot to a Bean

Resigning myself to induction now. Likely to go in tomorrow night for induction on Monday. Could wait one more day but don't really seeing the point in what feels like delaying the inevitable. More monitoring today in the mean time but unless Beanie gets his ar$e into gear very soon, it's going to the the hospital rather than the birth centre. Hey, I wouldn't be the first woman not to have been able to follow her original plan! It's just a shame to have waited for so long just for it to come to this. Am getting really impatient to meet Bean though and of course, that's the main thing... everything else is just gravy.

Turtle - are you missing in action?!!!
Hope everyone else is ok xx

eyelash · 23/10/2004 08:51

beansprout - thinking of you and hope it happens over the weekend. Would you consider a sweep?

Bellie · 23/10/2004 09:10

Bean - I was so sure that something was happening!
Maybe as eyelash says a sweep is worth considering to start things off??

beckswith3 · 23/10/2004 09:38

Bean, do you know what you are having or is it all a big surprise?
can't believe that DS2 ( 13mths) is still asleep this am, never ever happens. Have had a lie-in and a cup of tea on my own, heaven.

Bean, there are so many of us backing you at the moment (S rang me from Sheffield last night to check how you were - she went overdue/induced too, btw). Lots of love and hugs, babe

I am still here, my Mom has arrived from Canada which has kept me occupied for the last few days, feeling v. tired today and emotional, DB is moving around like crazy.

I went to the baby show in London yesterday and am so worn out hoping that all those babies crying and walking will bring on labour.

Bean - best of luck darling, it will be fine don't worry and just think you will meet little bean in the next few days...

Any news of our Piglit?

beansprout · 23/10/2004 16:00

Just got back from the hospital. Bean is ok but in view of now being 14 days over and Bean's size (9lb+) am going in tonight. Have had a sweep, am already nearly fully effaced and 1-2cm dilated so they think one prostin should be enough. Will have that last thing tonight and will see what happens..... Keeping my fingers crossed and am very excited about meeting Bean. Keep doing my Davina impression, "Bean, we're coming to get you!"

Thanks for all the support, means a lot.

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else who is still waitng. xxx

geogteach · 23/10/2004 16:02

Thinking of you here too bean. Typing with DS2 on my lap and remembering that this time last week I was in labour. Once bean is here you will have forgotten what it was like without him/her. I had gorgonzola for lunch - now that has got to be worth looking forward too!
On the big babies front mine have all been on the large size, can't claim easy labours but they have more or less held there own heads from the start, no jaundice and no concerns about weight gain so there are advantages to be had once he's here!

cazzybabs · 23/10/2004 16:13

YEAH beansprout - looking forward to meeting you and bean in the Oct babes thred. Good luck!

codswallop · 23/10/2004 16:14

Me,
Turtle
Miffy - haven't heard from you for a while.

Bellie · 24/10/2004 17:08

Beckswith - I am still here - due today but no signs!

miffy2 · 24/10/2004 17:15

Hi all
well, baby Tom arrived on his due date (how weird is that!) two days ago. He was born at 12.04pm and weighed in at 7lbs 4oz.

The labour (my 3rd) was quite quick and I was in denial at first! I will put the full story in Birth announcements but it was incredible - dropped my DD to school at 8.45, DS to Montessori afterwards, and baby was born less than 3 hours later!

The scheme under which I gave birth (in Dublin) is very similar to the midwife-led care in the UK so I was home that evening and we are happily settling into being a family of 5. Very few visitors too which is a nice change. My other son has taken very well to the new addition and although we have the odd tantrum or so, he is a lot better deling with the baby than the bump!

To those of you still waiting, chins up, there is an end in sight, though I know too well what it feels like to be over due. Wishing you all the best over the ocming days and weeks. Not sure how often I will get to log in but I will be thinking of you all.

piglit · 24/10/2004 18:44

Hi everyone - home at last.

Our son was finally born on Tuesday night by emergency c-section after 28 hours of labour including 4 hours stuck at 9 cms, having become back to back. Those back to back contractions are so awful and I would urge all meece to do what you can to keep db in a good position. TBH the whole labour thing was a nightmare and I think it will take me a long time to get my head round it.

I will post more when it doesn't freak me out so much but I hope you are all well.

Thinking of you Beansprout - I have everything crossed for you.

Turtle35 · 24/10/2004 19:16

Oh dear Piglit, I am so sorry you had such an awful time, that really sounds like hard work. I hope you are feeling ok though and on the mend, taking it as easy as possible.

I look forward to hearing your details, your son's name and weight, in the mean time all the best and lots of hugs

well done P
look forward to seeing him soon

Toots · 24/10/2004 20:12

piglit, your post brought back memories from dd1's birth which sounds very similar. My heart really goes out to you lovely girl, having now experienced 'normal' contractions, they don't half throw those posterior induced ones into deep dark context. You've really been through it. Be very kind to yourself and demand the same from loved ones, and anything any of us can do to help you get your head round it, you know where we are. Lots of love and {{{{{{{ huge hugs }}}}}}}
