Aren't people astounding, they just don't get it!! When I see my neighbour outside she always makes some ridiculous remark about "why aren't I in that hospital pushing that baby out" I really shouldn't repeat what I would like to actually say to her because one of these days I will snap!

Samuella may be delivering now - if so lucky thing.

Bellie have you had any twinges? how many days over are you now?

OP posts:
Bellie · 27/10/2004 21:38

Was due on 24th so am 3 days over although it seems like more. Have a sweep booked for Tuesday so will be 9 days over then but am hoping that db will decide that they do want to really be born in October! (although not sure they have been given the same calender!)
Oh well - signing out for the night now - and who knows what tomorrow will bring......

Bellie · 28/10/2004 12:37

Hello all (although I think it is only me and Turtle left now??) no changes here still just waiting!
Had a very restless night last night awake every two hours and then often took an hour to get back to sleep so feeling knackered today.
Am now sitting waiting for the alarm engineer who was supposed to be here an hour ago - I seem to spend my whole life waiting!!

beckswith3 · 28/10/2004 13:03

I'm still here, only a day over. Crap night too but have been busy today, hoovered and cleaned the car, washed all the floors, had a yummy iced doughnut, always cheers me up!
My mums coming to stay tonight on her way back from London so it's be great if this little one could show its face tonight cos then mum can look after the rest of the tribe.
What if it arrives on Halloween! spooky

beansprout · 28/10/2004 13:15

Turtle, Bellie and BW3 - hope you are all ok today. When your dbs are here, PLEASE come to the Oct thread, or, as I have said, we will come looking for you and as you know, Bean is very big and you wouldn't want to mess with him (menacing yet cute emoticon).

By the end I actually stopped seeing anyone I knew as I could not bear the prospect of any more remarks and would spend hours winding myself up just anticipating yet another comment. I have sought legal advice on this and if you do snap and hit someone, they let you off, so don't hold back if that's what you need to do.

Hope you are all attaching TENS machines as we speak....
Lots of love to you all xx

Bellie · 28/10/2004 13:15

Sorry Beckswith3 - did not mean to leave you out - just thought that as contractions had started (but then stopped) that you had gone to hospital!
Halloween would be spooky wouldn't it!
Hope the timing works with your mum being there - it would be easier for you!

beckswith3 · 28/10/2004 13:49

nope still here, mw says that because ds2 is only 13mths and its so close that braxton hicks will be v strong?! anyway I've a pumpkin to crave with DS1 and sweets to buy. DS2 and DH have just arrived back. DH is off for 2weeks as his next contract started in Birmingham yesterday and I didn't want him being so far from home.

Turtle35 · 28/10/2004 16:52

just back from hospital. I will be induced on Saturday, I couldn't wait any longer, I am in to much agony. I wouldn't be surprised if my DB came on Halloween!! Oh well all her birthday parties will be with a holloween theme.

Also found out that DB has moved back to anterior position - I can't believe that midwife scared me so much by saying she wouldn't turn again and she did in two days - clearly she could turn back again but I will sit on ball and sleep on side etc to try and keep her the way she is now

Bean it's so good to see you back on M/N sounding so great. There is no chance of leaving the Oct thread regardless of birth date!!

BW3 and Bellie, hang in there it will happen soon. Do you have any induction dates?

BW3 I haven't heard that because you have a young toddler that your BH's would be stronger? Why do Midwives continue to tell us scary stories?

OP posts:
pupuce · 28/10/2004 16:59

Where is the pain Turtle ?
Glad DB has moved.... told your MW was not very helpful!
You do know that being indiced on Saturday does not guarantee DB will be here on Saturday or Sunday it could well be Monday... I have known inductions to last as long as 6 days (bad care but still it was 6 days!)....

Turtle35 · 28/10/2004 17:23

OMG 6 days!! Please don't say that! people are determined to make induction sound so awful. I know it could most likely be a long haul and a couple of days is quite likely, I also realise that some sort of medical intervention is likely but I am a wimp and was always planning on signing up for an epidural.

I have pain in my back, hips and pelvis all the time now, having problems walking, I don't know when I have slept for more than an hour without getting up to try and relieve the pain, taking paracetemol every 4 hours. I do realise that 40+5 days isn't long to wait but I am so anxious now. In the mean time will continue with the pineapple, curry, sex, positive thoughts, tea etc etc.

OP posts:
florenceuk · 28/10/2004 17:39

Turtle, good to hear baby has moved - DD moved a lot in her last few weeks as well. Good luck for induction (or before!)

pupuce · 28/10/2004 17:54

Dear Turtle, I do want you to be realistic... Have you got SPD? If so the easiest for you (IMHO) is a waterbirth actually!
I am reluctant to post more on your situation as I don't like to say things which my scare you (or others)I don't want to do this but I am also concerned that too often women don't really understand the real consequences of an induction.. first of all you dpn't ghet the epdiural tight away.... you ahve to be in labour for that and if the inudction is not getting off to a good an defficient start it can take a while. Having an epidural doesn't mean the induction will necessarily go smoothly and there is no guarantee the epidural will work well.... Don't get me wrong there is a place for an epidural in labour BUT too many women think it is the miracle solution.

I guess I think it is important for you to make the right choices. It does sound like you are really in pain (have been there myself and for that reason can understand your strong desire for induction). Just do make sure you are told the CONSEQUENCES of your choices and are offered alternatives (ask them to mention them.... otherwise you won't hear about them). At the end of the day it is your body and your baby.
I wish you all the best and hope you get into albour before Saurday !!!!!

beansprout · 28/10/2004 18:39

Turtle, don't want to turn this thread into a range of advice on your situation but I hope you don't mind me saying to please, please do whatever is best for you and whatever gets you through. You have endured a LOT of physical pain in this pregnancy, and that's enough. THERE ARE NO MEDALS. I planned the au naturelle, water birth, pack-my-essential-oils version and hung on as my god, I was going to that birth centre and was NOT going to let the medics touch me, but hey, in the end I just went with what I needed to do at the time.... and then it was done. There are no right or wrong ways - just what is best for you and your baby. You will be ok whatever happens because you are a strong, brave, lovely moose and whatever happens we will all be very proud of you and look forward to hearing that you have a lovely db in your arms xx

Bellie · 28/10/2004 18:50

Turtle - sorry to hear that you are still in pain. I can understand that you want your db in your arms as soon as possible.
I am having a sweep on Tuesday so unless I go from nothing to established labout over the next 48 hours I will be into November (but still pretending to be Oct).
Do what you think is right for you and your baby and I am sure that it will work out for the best

beckswith3 · 28/10/2004 19:26

turtle - think you do have SPD which I also suffer from, very very painful but the end is near. unfortunately some people suffer for a while afterwards, I did but it is all worth it as Bean says, it all gets forgotten so quickly!
it won't be long for any of us. As I said my mum is due this evening, she's only staying overnight to break up her journey so it would be really helpful if babs could show tonight, then the kids are sorted and my mum will be able to see the babe. She was there at the birth of ds2 as he was born at home but I have to be in hospital with this one as I have group B strep, it's not one thing its another!!

Turtle35 · 29/10/2004 10:34

Well I feel like the pain I have gone through is not manageable any longer, it continues to get worse and most nights get worse as time goes on.

I don't feel like I need to justify to anyone any longer as to why I want the baby to come now. I am old enough, mature enough and God knows I have read enough about my options and what to exptect with induction.

OP posts:
beansprout · 29/10/2004 11:22

Good on you Turtle. Confidence in your own mind counts for a lot at a time when the whole world has a view on what you should or should not be doing. You are dealing with enough at the moment without wrestling with any self-doubt. I hope you have as comfortable a day as possible. Sending you lots of love and moose birthing vibes x

Distracted · 29/10/2004 11:28

Turtle just popping in to say all the very best for your induction tomorrow, I'm sure it will all be fine. You shouldn't have to suffer so much pain and you really don't need to justify anything. Like you say induction may make intervention more likely, but just go with an epidural like you planned and then it will all be pain free so it won't matter! Just think positive now. Will be thinking about you and next week you'll be posting your birth announcement and joining the babies thread

Turtle35 · 29/10/2004 11:45

Thanks so much fellow Meese, the encouragement does go such a long way at this stage - I can't tell you how helpful it is

OP posts:
pupuce · 29/10/2004 11:49

Totally agree with Bean... I like your determination !
Good luck.... look forward to reading the birth announcement!

nailpolish · 29/10/2004 14:10

hi turtle just popped in to say i will be thinking of you xxx just think, pretty soon you will be pain free and you will see your baby!!!

Bellie · 29/10/2004 15:27

Turtle wishing you all the best for the weekend

Toots · 29/10/2004 18:11

6 day inductions !!!!! Turtle, think Pupuce might secretly be in league with your scary midwife

That is surely soooooooooooooooo unlikely to happen.

You have all my support and lots of love. With dd1 I went in to hospital at 14 days over for a routine ante-natal - and took my packed bag. I wasn't going anywhere, they had to induce me. I was so miserable with back ache I thought it was well worth the gamble.

Good luck darling.

pupuce · 29/10/2004 19:07

I know I hesitated posting it to be honest....
IMO 6 days is bad practice but it does happen.... Some women don't start contracting after several doses of prostin (and you can get 2 per day)... so what do you do ???? They keep giving it until they can break the waters....
As Turtle has (I think) SPD and she is SO willing to go into labour she is very likely to react extremly well to the induction.
Some inductions go well.... and that's all we can hope for !

I am very sorry - I shouldn't have scared Turtle.... VERY naughty of me.....

beansprout · 29/10/2004 19:09

Best of luck lovely Turtle with the hatching of your Turtle-ette egg. Will be thinking of you loads over the weekend and will be on the look out for your birth announcement. Db will be with you soon and I really look forward to Bean 'n' little T meeting up
