I bought a couple of these black button front night dresses from Boohoo, they have a sale on just now. They haven't arrived yet so can't comment on the quality, I've heard mixed reviews about Boohoo but was struggling to find others that looked suitable.

I also ordered some of their nursing pyjamas which come in shorts or trouser versions.

I heard black or navy was best as any embarrassing leaks are not so obvious!

NaomiB79 · 22/08/2020 11:20

Oops sorry @peachypetite I didn't read further back when you said you hated boohoo 🙈

Pinktruffle · 22/08/2020 12:18

@peachypetite I'm having similar issues with being able to find suitable wear for the maternity ward. I did The Honest Midwife class earlier this week and she suggested a jersey nightgown would be best for the ward, not a fleece one but the only one I can find that's longer than my arse and comes in a dark colour is on bloody Boohoo. I have a huge issue with their ethics so don't want to buy front here but may end up having to cave if I can't find anything else.

Know I’m not the first to say it but we’ve just done the 2 hour free online course at the baby academy and would definitely recommend. We’ve booked ourselves on for the full day course next month. It’s £99 but you get lots with that so well worth it I think

NaomiB79 · 22/08/2020 14:54

@Awkes we've just done the 2 hour free Baby Academy course too and learned loads, would also recommend for the first time mums and partners.

Jellycat2020 · 22/08/2020 16:27

So we had our first hospital trip today for reduced movements (28 weeks) and I have to say, it was a very positive experience. She's normally very active and I was worried she was quieter this morning so did an hour of cold fizzy drink and lying on my side then chickened out and phoned maternity triage.
The midwives were all so lovely and very thorough 😊 They listened to baby's heartbeat, checked my heart rate, blood pressure and urine then put me on a monitor for about 15 mins. She also measured bump. Thankfully baby is all fine ♥ but I've got signs of yet another UTI so I have to go on long term antibiotics now until baby's born 😔.
But I wouldn't hesitate to go back if I wasn't happy with movements again, I wasn't made to feel like a time waster at all! Anyone going to Worcester Royal, be reassured!

Pinktruffle · 22/08/2020 18:43

I'm glad everything was well with baby @Jellycat2020. Now try and relax and have a nice evening!

I did the Baby Academy class this morning too, we did the Honest Midwife one on Monday which was more focused on labour. Style wise I think I preferred the Honest Midwife classes, theyvwere far more interactive so think I will continue with those rather than Baby Academy. The Honest Midwife classes are £10 a class and you can pick and choose which classes you want to do, there are 10 in total but the first one was free.

Snowwhite2020 · 22/08/2020 18:48

@Awkes @NaomiB79 @Pinktruffle we logged on to try and access the baby academy course but it looks like you need to
Book ahead- we will definitely be doing that after so many positive recommendations!

We logged on to the little lullaby trust and it is aimed at young parents (which we are not particularly!) but the section on safer sleep for babies and prevention of SIDS was really interesting and probably the most useful information we have been able to access online so far. Would highly recommend :)

Snowwhite2020 · 22/08/2020 18:49

@Jellycat2020 glad all is well xx

Snowwhite2020 · 22/08/2020 19:09

@StephRae how are you and your little ones getting on? Much love to you xx

Awkes · 22/08/2020 19:15

@Snowwhite2020 yes deffo worth a look. I’d say try out the free one first just as @Pinktruffle says you might prefer something else better. I’m especially happy with baby academy as it includes a baby first aid and along with the class you get access to other sources of info on their website.
Good to hear you had a positive experience @Jellycat2020 my midwife spent a good portion of my last appointment talking about signs of early labour/preeclampsia and reduced movements and was really insistent that any worry at all I get in touch and get things checked. I’ve luckily had no worries so far but was nice to be supported and reassured. I hope should I ever need it my hospital will be as good as yours

What do you all think of the name lewis? I love Riley but my partner isn't mad on it and my concern is people make confuse him for a girl

confused107 · 23/08/2020 09:01

Anyone else still getting a little stomach pain? Had a busy day yesterday and today it feels like I've done 200 sit ups. Hoping this is normal?

Thanks for all the tips on the courses. Must start looking at them. I love the name Lewis X

danielasummer · 23/08/2020 10:14

Has anyone looked into swivel car seats? And which ones have you gone for?

We looked at the Cybex cloud on Friday but it was the only one in the shop so couldn't compare quality/prices.

@confused107 I do when I'm stood up for too long or doing something repetitively.

Babyhope98 · 23/08/2020 10:57

@confused107 I had that the other day was mainly under my bump was quite bad but belly’s popped out since and doesn’t hurt now so think it was just a big growth spurt. I did have a busy day the day before it started hurting too so may have been a factor x

jalu47 · 23/08/2020 11:03

@confused107 yes! Mine's just to the left of my belly button, it's really tight and feels like I've pulled a muscle, guessing it's a growth spurt.

I woke up at 10.30 this morning, feel like a different person - I was awake between 4.30-6 again (seems lots of people are having these annoying long wake up periods!) but still feels amazing Smile

@Pinktruffle yeh I also have an issue with boohoo’s lack of ethics. But they are the only place with a decent selection of maternity nightwear aren’t they! Those amazon ones looked good too though.

@roro87 Lewis is a great name! The only Riley I know is a girl but it's not super common in the UK is it so I don't think most people would definitely associate it with one gender?

lionsmum · 23/08/2020 17:38

@danielasummer we've gone for the Cybex Cloud Z, part of the travel system we chose, as far as I'm aware there aren't many options when it comes to car seats that swivel (it's the only one I know of but I could be wrong). It's what sold me on the whole system really I think, just love the idea and how handy it will be! Car seat wise it's the best I've come across for me😊

@roro87 I know a little boy called Riley, a work friends son, beautiful name & I'd have no worries about people assuming it's a girls name, everyone is different though

We are leaning towards the name Roux for our little boy, we wanted something unusual & short. What do you all think? I know it's not for everyone & I have my apprehensions that people (family wise) will be a little confused at first but think they will learn to love it quickly (and if they don't hopefully they will keep their opinions to themselves lol)

roro87 · 23/08/2020 17:43

@lionsmum I absolutely love that name. think it is really cute. I've called my little sister Choux since she was a baby nothing like her name but it stuck.

lionsmum · 23/08/2020 18:48

@roro87 oh yay I'm so glad to hear it, defs usual but think it's so sweet. that's such a cute nickname, funny how these things never leave! How many weeks are you now? Is this your first?

roro87 · 23/08/2020 19:24

@lionsmum I'm 26 weeks now so not too long left. Yes this will be our first so starting to get nervous about it all. How are you getting on? how many weeks are you?

lionsmum · 23/08/2020 20:06

@roro87 lovely, hoping the last trimester goes quickly! Isn't it, so exciting but it's certainly nerve wracking too😅 I'm 25 weeks now, doing well thank you, anxious but I'm getting scanned every week by my consultant so that's bringing reassurance

kkr168 · 23/08/2020 20:08

@danielasummer we went with the Joie isize spin 360 after seeing it in Smyth's, we purchased it online cheaper though.

Has anyone else been suffering with acid? I've had it almost every evening this week, I've been chewing Rennie's but they don't help. Any tips to get rid of it?

My nephew's called Riley, I love his name
