They're gorgeous @peachypetite I loved all the next clothes we got gifted for DS1

chubbyhotchoc · 05/08/2020 20:04

I'm sure you ladies will join me in a collective grrrrr when I tell you I went for a meal with the in-laws tonight and mother in law said 'well you've put a lot of weight on haven't you? You'll be relieved when it's over' 😭😭

peachypetite · 05/08/2020 20:05

@chubbyhotchoc what a bitch! Does she have form for saying things like that usually?

OP posts:
chubbyhotchoc · 05/08/2020 20:23

@peachypetite yes she always remarks on weight. First time I met her she approvingly told me I was very thin. At our wedding she told my sister in law she should have lost a few pounds for the dress she was wearing and she's told dh loads of times he's put weight on. She's very slight herself. I have put weight on but could do without hearing about it lol

peachypetite · 05/08/2020 20:26

Oh dear. I hope your husband stuck up for you, that’s awful of her to comment Sad

@chubbyhotchoc what a joke, I've always thought it's the daftest thing to say to a pregnant woman I mean, horrible anyway but why are you saying that to a pregnant woman! Strange strange thing to be focusing on when there's a little one on the way... ignore !!!!! Bet you look amazing.

nearlyamummyof2boys · 05/08/2020 21:20

I feel your frustration @chubbyhotchoc the first thing my Mum said to me after 3 months was that I was very very large and was I sure I was only 5 months - well I have a baby growing inside me and did have 2 in there so go figure! 🤔😐

So I'm grrring along with you lol

nearlyamummyof2boys · 05/08/2020 21:21

And I agree @MummyShark97 of all the things to focus on when there's a new baby coming!

Pinktruffle · 05/08/2020 21:41

That's horrible of her @chubbyhotchoc! Besides, a pregnant belly is beautiful. I love my little bump, I may bot feel the same in 2 months time but currently, it's just lovely.

loobeelou · 05/08/2020 21:51

OMG @chubbyhotchoc she sounds like a ray of sunshine!
Why do people feel the need to comment on bump size and weight?!
I'm sure you look amazing!

chubbyhotchoc · 05/08/2020 21:58

I wouldn't mind but I do think my arms and thighs have gained too. I wish I was one of these women who was all bump. I started at a higher than normal weight anyway as got pregnant second cycle after a mmc at nearly 11 weeks and I'd gained a bit with that one. Apart from a few weeks I've been pregnant since last November. Bah! I know I eat pretty well and I don't eat silly amounts so it is what it is

roro87 · 05/08/2020 22:03

My Dad asked me today if I ate an entire turkey but to be fair he was joking and I'm not conscious but had anyone else said it it would be different. I remember before I told them when I was about 11/12 weeks and in the carbs only phase he told me I'd got pudgy Smile. It is amazing how many comment on size etc. bump pics attached

@chubbyhotchoc I can empathise! My dad and his gf came to visit me in hospital 3 days after having my first. He was in neonatal intensive care, I was a mess and she said “oooh you’ve still got a tummy”. I honestly hadn’t even thought about my body, and obvs no mirrors in the maternity ward. Some people are just thoughtless!

excitednerves · 05/08/2020 22:37

Oh - and in the next visit about a month later she followed up with “you look better than the last time I saw you”. Yup, no kidding.

chubbyhotchoc · 05/08/2020 22:39

@roro87 you look very neat. I think when you're pregnant your body becomes public property or so everyone seems to act

chubbyhotchoc · 05/08/2020 22:40

@excitednerves I think I'd have said something! Unbelievable!

excitednerves · 05/08/2020 22:42

Those are gorgeous @peachypetite

Love the cushion too @nearlyamummyof2boys I’ve been looking for one for my DS’s new room!

excitednerves · 05/08/2020 22:44

@chubbyhotchoc I think I was just gobsmacked! I think I said something along the lines of “yeah I just had a baby” lol

confused107 · 06/08/2020 06:16

@excitednerves and @chubbyhotchoc I'm absolutely gobsmacked about the way you have been spoken to. What's wrong with people?!!

I've had a couple of comments about 'popping' over the last week or two. It's odd some days I like the comments and sometimes I feel defensive. I think Im still anxious about things going ok so anything that makes me think I'm too big, too small or not completely typical sets that off. I haven't told many people at work and we are all going back in the office next Wednesday. I'm interested to see if anyone says anything, or politely thinks I've over indulged during lockdown!

Lovely bump @roro87 It's been so lovely seeing everyone's bumps and how different but beautiful they all are

confused107 · 06/08/2020 06:48

Just came across this on another thread. Handy if like me you are not sure what appointments you should be having go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/antenatal-appointment-schedule/

peachypetite · 06/08/2020 08:05

@confused107 I posted that on a thread recently Grin one of my friends is in her final trimester and said after being neglected for so long you do start to feel bettter looked after due to the appointments getting closer together in frequency. I won’t have seen anyone since week 11 - 28 so look forward to seeing a midwife!!

OP posts:
confused107 · 06/08/2020 09:04

@peachypetite I've just been going from appointment to appointment. Got a FTF appointment with the midwife next week for 24 weeks and it looks like they are regular after that. Be good for the anxiety I think!

Kpm7 · 06/08/2020 11:14

@chubbyhotchoc
Wow. Mum in-laws can be so insensitive.

My first scan I shown all I got was oh it’s got a big head. Then said the same on the 20 week scan pic.

Then I had some highlights in my hair this week to make me feel better. They are so subtle and she said oh you put bleach in and shuck her head like I had committed a crime. No positive comments.

Also she says to me a lot. Why are you buying baby things this early. 🤨🤨

Kpm7 · 06/08/2020 11:15

How is everyone getting on with prams. I still need to o and check them out. I like the Mima Xari.
Has anybody seen this or have any comments on this.
I don’t know if I am being extra in terms of the cost but it’s my first baby and I want more than 1 child so I know I will use it again and again if we have more. Hopefully xx

Kj1010 · 06/08/2020 11:34

I have my pram already it's a ickle bubba stomp v3 see it in person then ordered a bundle what's in pic for 499 which I think is Brill as now the pram on it's own is going for 498 on different sites it's all currently in my shed waiting to come in house in november lol
