Yes, so lovely to see new bfp!!!
My doctors call was not helpful at all. He sounded bored in all honesty and didn't offer me any information I didn't already know- oh well :)
So looking into private scans as a surprise for OH so he can be involved too, any thoughts on the internal scan as I feel really hesitant and not sure why. Seeing my family today but we have decided to not tell them until we have had a scan- going to be tough to not blurt it out!

Tiff94 · 01/08/2020 12:15

@Milliemoo222 I'm going to get the internal scan done. I watched a video about it and that it's safe, very similar to a smear so I can tell you once I've had it. I've already told our parents

I had a scan around 6/7 weeks with my first 2 and they were transabdominal (across the tummy) and I didn’t have to have an internal one. It all depends on your bmi and anatomy as to whether your uterus can be visualised through your tummy.
I’ve also had an internal one for health reasons and it’s fine. Better than a smear as there’s no speculum, it’s just the probe that goes in and is pretty slim!

Tiff94 · 01/08/2020 15:38

@Lettie365 I was reading that they mostly only do it if your going private otherwise the hospital only likes to do the abdominal. I've heard that the difference is about a week off . So you may not here the heart beat on abdomen but will from the internal. Glad you said it's better then a smear. I don't think it will bother me I'm more excited to see baby then how it happens 😂

Also ladies how's everyone feeling today ?

5weeks today for me I've had horrific nausea for the past week and last night my nipples went so tender and sore now there constantly hard and hurting.

OP posts:
Milliemoo222 · 01/08/2020 17:41

Thank you @Lettie365. I cannot see at all how it would be harmful, as they would not offer it if there was an issue, super keen to see baby though, so was torn with emotions, thank you all. Think i am over thinking things!
@Tiff94 sorry to hear that your nausea has been bad this week, found anything to help with it, heard that lemon taste can help. I was sick this morning, have been a few times, have only been getting about 4 hours sleep a night, just cannot sleep! Painful boobies, super hot and heart rate races if I do too much, Actually got my car locked in a car park today- proper adult fail! Confused but I held out telling my family!

npn1989 · 01/08/2020 19:06

@Tiff94 sorry you've started with feeling sick already!! Hope it passes quickly. I think ginger is supposed to be good for morning sickness? And @Milliemoo222 that little sleep cant be good! Bet the heat doesnt help. Really muggy isnt it.
I'm starting to feel tired and had my first nap today whilst my toddler napped. I woke up feeling like a new woman haha. Saw a friend last night and really thought I'd end up telling her but managed not to. We will tell my parents soon and maybe my in-laws too. There are some other people we will tell before the scan too but not just yet. I think I want to be at least 8wks before telling more people and even then it will only be a handful of people

Tiff94 · 02/08/2020 07:30

@npn1989 thanks my mum tells me hunger too which I try sometimes it helps sometimes not. Also been trying peppermint and lemon like @Milliemoo222 suggested too. Not sleeping probably so have been taking a much needed nap in the afternoons too.

OP posts:
Milliemoo222 · 02/08/2020 08:15

@Tiff94 @npn1989 slept so much better last night, but we met a friends couple so i think I was shattered after such a long day!
I am going to research some safe exercise to do so that I can tire myself out enough to sleep each day! I am finding work pressure a bit much currently so I would imagine it is a combination of things.
I have decided to book a private scan today and have for when we get back from our trip as really want to see what is happening and be assured that all is okay!
I have found mints help, but not tried lemon or ginger yet. Also have read that sometimes the folic supplements brands can increase sickness, so also worth checking that too maybe?
Anyone have any thoughts/feelings on swimming given the current state of the world? It is my ultimate de-stresser and I miss it, but I obviously have to not just think about myself now!

SJ89SJ · 02/08/2020 08:30

can i join?! Got my positive yesterday on 3rd cycle trying. I'm 31 and so excited but have only my husband to talk to till pass scan dates!

Milliemoo222 · 02/08/2020 08:51

Welcome @SJ89SJ!
I am actually a complete match with you on this! 3rd cycle, 31 only DH knows!

Noneyerbuisness11234 · 02/08/2020 09:04

Congratulations @SJ89SJ
I'm finding sleeping a nightmare I'm knackered getting into bed then wide awake till around 12 up 2/3 times peeing then up again at 6 have a 15 month old so running around all day and he's an early riser no other symptoms as on yet

glasses2020 · 02/08/2020 09:17

Hi ladies,

Please may I join you?

I got my BFP yesterday, due date of 11th April. This is my first, I'm very nervous but so excited.

Please can you tell me about private scans? I would like to do this to reassure myself, how do I go about this?

Thank you x

xxhetty · 02/08/2020 09:44

Hi all can I join? I got a couple of faint lines on Thursday and Friday tests and then my Digital BFP yesterday! I am still super early at 3 weeks I think I'm due around 11th april. This is my first so I have no idea what to do now how are you all feeling?

Tiff94 · 02/08/2020 11:14

@Noneyerbuisness11234 literally the sleeping is a killer I don't have any other children but still can't sleep probably up til after midnight like you said and then wake early hours to pee and can't sleep afterwards. It's not even lunch time today and I'm ready for a nap my eyes are so tired.

Welcome @xxhetty @glasses2020 @SJ89SJ so happy for your BFPs

@glasses2020 I posted a link down further I think a couple days ago of a website that does the private's scans for £79 that's what I'm doing on the 13th so I can tell you afterwards about it. But the have a video of the website about how they do the scan and more information about what they use ect if you want to take a look.

OP posts:
Tiff94 · 02/08/2020 11:16

@xxhetty this is my first too I had no clue to start with. Look for your local maternity wars and you will need to do a self referral once you do that the midwifes will call and app will come in the post. I've got a booking app on sept 1 with the midwife and then first scan in 24sept but I'm going private scan at 6 weeks to reassure myself as I still can't believe I am.

OP posts:
Noneyerbuisness11234 · 02/08/2020 11:30

@Tiff94 I would leave the private scan until 8 weeks my last pregnancy I was less than wat I thought so went for scan thinking 11 weeks but really only 7 they could only see sac no heartbeat then went following week for internal scan and heartbeat clear as day they confirmed I was 8 weeks x

Tiff94 · 02/08/2020 11:34

@Noneyerbuisness11234 was that scan internal or abdominal ? I've heard that if they do abdominal they won't see much but if they do internal they can tell a week ahead I will be 7 and half weeks when I go so think it should be fine I'm 5 weeks today from last CD1 and 23Dpo

OP posts:
Noneyerbuisness11234 · 02/08/2020 11:38

@Tiff94 first one was abdominal then the internal was second one if ur getting internal should b fine think they can see in those from 7 but abdominal can take to 9 or 10 before they can see depending on bmi

Milliemoo222 · 02/08/2020 12:03

@Tiff94 mine is about 6.4.2020
I am going to book for 8 week scan I had already been thinking. So will be about the 22nd August. Eeks cannot wait.

Tiff94 · 02/08/2020 12:08

@Milliemoo222 I can't wait either so want to see what's going on so exciting DH can't wait either so glad we going to see together

OP posts:
Tiff94 · 02/08/2020 12:09

@Noneyerbuisness11234 they will do both but the result will be better with the internal they say from 6 weeks they can pick up the heart beat that's why I did for 7.5 just to be sure

OP posts:
glasses2020 · 02/08/2020 12:10

Hi all,

Thanks so much for adding me 😊.

I contacted a private company that does early scans, they told me that I have to wait into at least 7 weeks. Is this the same as everyone's experiences? X
