Is anyone else really.struggling with sickness? I'm 13 weeks now and hadn't experienced this level of sickness with my first baby. Im nauseous all day, much worse in the evenings and end up going to be straight after my 3yo. Not often vomiting but the nausea is just horrific. Some days I can barely get out of bed. I've been prescribed cyclizine hydrochloride but it does nothing for me. Is anyone else experiencing this?

gretagreengrapes · 20/10/2020 18:22

@UnicornAndSparkles yes I am also experiencing this, but with vomiting too. The nausea is so disabling. I'm 14 weeks and have lost weight since booking. Cyclizine was not very helpful but prochlorperazine has been much better! If it's not working for you try to switch to an alternative. Hope ot eases for you.

UnicornAndSparkles · 20/10/2020 18:50

Thanks @gretagreengrapes I'll phone the GP and ask tomorrow. I thought it would be over by now! The vomiting I can handle as its only once a day or so but the nausea is just horrendous. I've also lost weight since booking but I was told not to worry. Just so awful. This will 100% be my last child I just can't cope with this.

Tiff94 · 21/10/2020 09:06

@UnicornAndSparkles I have been but after I finally got a consultant app I was changed medication completely and now this past two weeks I've felt much better. Hopefully this last and I can start enjoying this pregnancy now. Hope you feel better soon what medication are you taking at the moment? I've tried everything out there some helped a little others not at all. Xx

Im on cyclizine hydrochloride atm @Tiff94 but have a telephone apt this morning to try something else.

Did you feel the effects immediately once you'd started medication that worked?

I didnt need anything in my first pregnancy so am a bit reluctant to take it now but I'm feeling so awful I think I've got to, plus its not fair on my 3yo to have a mummy that is constantly unwell when I could (hopefully) do something about it.

Tiff94 · 21/10/2020 09:29

@UnicornAndSparkles I was given cyclizine first didn't find it worked at all. They may get you to try prochlorperazine or metoclopramide or ondansetron I found these only worked for about 4/5days for me then back sick again. I felt best on the ondansetron which I still continue to take with my other medications that are xonvea, thiamine, omeprazole and also a steroid to help with the sickness. I just had a review yesterday with my consultant I will continue in these for another 3 weeks to see how I go and then another review. I literally found I was sick right up until I started the steroids. Now I've felt much better. Let me know how your app later goes hopefully the next course will work for you. You can even try combining the medication as I was instructed this as well.

Thanks @Tiff94. Sorry to hear you've struggled with this too :(

Tiff94 · 21/10/2020 10:27

@UnicornAndSparkles thanks it's not the best of times but In The end we will get through. Don't worry about little one either they still are thriving even when we aren't. This was my main concern because I thought the lack of me getting any nutrients would mean baby would t even bit so many people reassurance me baby was doing well. I was super ill leading up to my 12weeks scan and baby was healthy and perfect when we saw. So we will get there it's just a hard start to the journey ahead of us. Xx

Hi all, been watching and waiting to join you all til I felt brave enough (daft I know). I’m due early April and still dealing with nausea and constant dry heaving (it’s been horrendous). Finally managed breakfast without taking the cyclizine first though so hoping I’m coming off the edge now! This is the furthest I’ve got (previous MC at 6 wks), so keep expecting something to go wrong! The anxiety never ends Confused

Hi !

I have been following this thread but I am yet to comment ! You have all been a great support for me. I am due 14th April and I have had a couple of scares along the way due to pain complications with having endometriosis. But I have had my 12 week scan and all is looking well! I will join the Facebook group now and look forward to getting to know you all more. Congratulations to all x

Tiff94 · 21/10/2020 14:32
