Just got back from my 28 week midwife appointment. I'm 29 weeks today!
All fine except bump is measuring small on the 10th percentile. She said I'll be measured again at 32 weeks and if it stays low I'll be sent for a growth scan

NWnature · 24/07/2020 10:13

Aww congrats @Buzz22! well if it comes to a scan-another chance to see the baby!

@otterbaby Until quite recently I still didn’t feel like I looked properly pregnant just chunky so was wearing leggings and baggy tops / jumpers. I have got some really comfy skinny mat jeans from asos under bump so I pop those on to feel a bit more like a “proper outfit”. I’ve got some dresses mostly ASOS and a couple from H&M. The ASOS ones are quite massive the bump bit so I feel like they just make me look bigger but now the bump is proper they will probably be helpful over the next few weeks. I have a really nice loose cotton/linen t shirt from ASOS which I wear a lot.
I think not having to worry about workwear has def been a blessing!

Spark27 · 24/07/2020 10:19

@otterbaby, I'm feeling the same. Told myself last night I was actually going to 'dress up nice' today. But I cant be bothered so I'm in maternity joggers and a t.shirt.
If I go out I force myself to put on skinny jeans and a nice maternity top, but as soon as I'm home the jeans are off and I'm in joggers or leggings. It's so annoying as I have a few nice work maternity outfits from last time that I'll not going to get to wear again. I've got a few nice summery dresses, but it's not sunny enough at the mo, and even if it was I cant be bothered as I'm just staying in.

I got a purple dress last time when we went on our baby moon, but cant see us getting a night away this time, or going out for dinner, so I probably wont get to wear it again. Actually, might tell DH we have to have a fancy dinner one night at home so I can wear it (if I can be bothered to sit at the table, feel uncomfortable, not drink, or eat rare steak or runny cheese.........sad)

I suppose at least if I sell the clothes after pregnancy I can put barely worn on a lot of the listings!

HerondaleDucks · 24/07/2020 10:46

Mainly leggings and floaty tops. My mum has given me a load of her clothes as she is 2 sizes bigger than me. They are all perfect.
I'd rather be comfy than stylish, but I have a couple of maxi dresses too if the need arises.

CouscousEvaporator · 24/07/2020 10:52

@Buzz22 I’m 10th centile too, wonder if it’s a height thing. Midwife said as long as I stay 10th to 50th I won’t get a growth scan!

@Spark27 getting dressed up to stay in sounds cute, I might suggest that to DH! ❤️

@otterbaby I have some maternity jeggings. I hate hate over the bump stuff which I though I would love 🙄 I’ve also got baggy T-shirts so distinctively in-glamorous!!

My indigestion is back again, not that it ever really left. This has to be my worst part of pregnancy. Constant acid. still only getting up once to pee in the night which I’m really grateful for as I am also suffering with tiredness.

Thanks to all who recommended a bump belt, I’ve got one on order 👍🏻

I’ve ordered a nursing bra and it fits perfectly - do you think I should go up a cup size? I’m assuming there will be boob expansion and it was quite expensive so I don’t want it to not fit!!

BntTowers · 24/07/2020 11:04

@CouscousEvaporator I've only brought cheap nursing bras from Asda at the moment. I got the same size in two different styles, one set fits perfectly now, the other the cup seems massive so I've kept that because I'm guessing cup size will increase with milk production. I'll buy nicer ones if needed when I know what size I'll be.

I have a couple of maxi dresses, and a nice lemon denim one which I brought to wear for my 30th next month, but wearing it already as there's no point in not, but that dress does make me feel a bit more dressed up. I also have a really good cotton dress which isn't maternity but pretty much tent shaped so it's comfy. I've been getting so warm I'm wearing it today as I know it's supposed to get warm. I only have two pairs of maternity leggings which I've been coping with so far. Hoping to not buy much maternity stuff clothing wise for just a few months. I'm grateful that I haven't and hopefully won't have to buy work wear.

HerondaleDucks · 24/07/2020 11:55

I got some super cheap maternity bras in primark this week. £8 for 2.
My m and s ones are really luxurious to look at but the primark ones are comfier!

ChickenDipper28 · 24/07/2020 12:03

I've been living in H&M maternity leggings and my partners tops 🤣
I do have a couple of maternity dresses which are nice but apart from leggings nothing else fits me 😳

I really need to go and buy some new bras! I used a bra extender for a while but now that's too tight and the cup is too small too! How expensive are they in M&S?

HerondaleDucks · 24/07/2020 12:32

About 20 to 30 for a set of 2.

CouscousEvaporator · 24/07/2020 12:58

@BntTowers I don’t think Asda ones will fit me unfortunately as I’m a 30 back and a FF/G cup is fitting currently! Which means lots of money has to be spent 😔 this one was £32 😭

BntTowers · 24/07/2020 13:02

@CouscousEvaporator I struggled to find some at 34f which were reasonably priced. I hope you find something.

I'm also living in crop top bra things from Primark. Very little support but gives me something for days when I'm not really leaving the house much or just want something comfortable.

CouscousEvaporator · 24/07/2020 13:06

Thank you! Good shout on a crop top hadn’t thought of that. If it’s a v neck I reckon you can breastfeed in it as well??

BettyBotter1 · 24/07/2020 13:31

In case it helps anyone, I found my regular bras weren't fitting at all early on so had to get some. I usually wear the pull over bralet style cos they're so much comfier. I found it a bit of a pain sourcing maternity ones online, but have found some I like. I'm usually 32d but would say I'm now probably a 34 dd. Size 10 / 12 in tops. I bought size M in all of these.
I bought one bralet by bravado from Next for £27 that is quite sturdy and supportive and fits well but no spare room.
One bralet by Mandela from Amazon for under £20 which is super stretchy and comfy but thin material.
Then a two pack of bamboo nursing bras with back fastening from Seraphine for £35. These fit because they are very stretchy but there is loads of room to grow into them.
I'm hoping this collection will see me through once baby is here too.
I've seen the h&m ballet style bralet 2 pack recommended everywhere, but whenever I looked it was out of stock.

otterbaby · 24/07/2020 13:31

H&M sells a 2-pack of nursing bras and they are really comfy and not too expensive!

Treacle81 · 24/07/2020 15:46

Hi girls. Happy 30 weeks! @BettyBotter1 Iive in leggings and vest tops (with no bra indoors)lol. It's strange as walked maybe 20 minutes a few days ago and started getting hip pain and feeling v uncomfortable and I'm just back from meeting a friend and walked 4 miles round a local park! Must depend on position of baby. I'm a little concerned after finding out from midwife that I've got an anterior placenta as apparently it can grow over cervix. I have no scans booked though so certainly something I'll need to bring up at next appointment! Think I'll take a drive to Matalan and get some mat bras as mine are too small also xx

Treaclepie19 · 24/07/2020 16:02

@Treacle81 they would have said if it was over your cervix at your scans. Mine was low down and they did um and ah over it but decided it wasn't low enough to worry about. If it had been they said the chances are ot would move by 32 weeks anyway. So I wouldn’t worry too much.
Easier said than done though!

I've woken up with a sore eye today. Hoping its just hayfever :/

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 24/07/2020 16:29

@BettyBotter1 congrats on last day of work and 30 weeks, two special milestones!! I also feel like I don't want to rub it in but was furloughed weeks ago and was told there's not much chance at all I'll be back before baby here so I already feel on maternity leave too!

I'm with everyone on the not getting much sleep. Just the bump seems so big and uncomfortable now and when on my side even if I slightly go on my front a bit she doesn't like that and prods me until I move again. She moves constantly when I go to sleep so I have to rock my body to get her to sleep 😂

@otterbaby I was thinking this too. Not nice enough for dresses so just leggings and tops for me at the min. Like the day before I got furloughed I had a big mat clothes delivery and as soon as furloughed I just packed them up and returned them thought I could just save the money, now I have like only a few outfits! I have these jeans called grow with me or grow with you from next they are like what I used to wear before pregnant skinny high waisted, no bump band all that happens Is the waistband can expand as you get bigger they're the best mat jeans I found really comfy. Xx

MummyBearBoo · 24/07/2020 18:37

So 28 weeks appt went well heard baby's heartbeat which was nice she didn't mention gestational diabetes test and I forgot to ask she did bloods again to check my iron levels tho!

She measured my bump and said I'm measuring 2 weeks ahead!! Xx

BecLJ · 24/07/2020 22:16

Glad to hear your appointment went well @MummyBearBoo!

I currently live in dresses or (if I go out somewhere nicer) some maternity jeans which are so comfy at the moment but I dont think will fit for much longer.

Has anyone tried or thinking of trying reusable nappies? A few people have recommended them to me - I'd never really thought about it before!

HerondaleDucks · 24/07/2020 22:47

30 weeks tomorrow

BettyBotter1 · 25/07/2020 06:03

@BecLJ I'm going to try reusables. There's a lady local to me who rents them out so you can try the different brands etc plus she will share her expertise and advise. You get all you need to wash them too. Then if I get on with them I'll buy my own stash. I found her on Facebook.

I am living in a handful of dresses when warm enough and falling back on leggings or old elasticated waist printed cotton trousers and a tshirt when colder with my regular jumpers. I'll start stealing my husband's tshirts and hoodies if it comes to it!

Zaalfruit · 25/07/2020 06:23

Hey everyone took a bit of break from everything moods been so off .

Plus the vomiting is back for me - so been in a right crappy arseeeee mood.

Congrats to everyone who is hitting 30 weeks :)

Wearing nice clothes - just nah , went out yesterday just looked like a fat penguin . I love living out oversized T-shirt dresses and maxi dresses . Also the whole wear a mask the whole time in shops is stressful - I feel like as I get bigger it’s harder to breathe in one.

In the night the belly just feels so uncomfortable even with the pillow - just can’t get in the right position and then when I wake up I feel like the stomach muscles are in pain from all the movements.

I want to feel more positive but just feeling annoyed at the moment - how do I get over this hump?

ChickenDipper28 · 25/07/2020 07:59

@BecLJ I'm thinking about reusable nappies too! A lot of people recommend starting the first month or so in disposables then move onto reusables ☺️ Our town council does a scheme where you can buy a bundle package of everything needed for £200. There's plenty in there so seems a really good deal.

@Zaalfruit Sorry you're not feeling so great ☹️ I've had that where I'm trying to get my belly comfortable during the night then I pull something and it feels like I have a stitch all day 😩
I hope you feel better soon. I've been feeling my anxiety creeping up with me again. The third trimester is definitely much harder than the second!

I couldn't really sleep until 4am when the leg cramps/restless leg decided to let me have a little bit of rest 🙄 Who knew how exhausting this is!

BntTowers · 25/07/2020 08:15

@BecLJ we want to use reusables, but use disposal ones for the first 4-6 weeks. Just so we know how many we will need. Some councils have a nappy library where you can borrow them for set amounts of time and there's different brands, we are using that to find the style we like/ works for us before splashing out.

@Zaalfruit sorry you are feeling down, I don't have too much to add really, just that I hope you manage to get out of your head and get excited. Do you have anything left on your list to get? Are you doing the positive birth company course? If so why not do some online shopping or some of the course, or even repeat some of it if you've done it all already.

My bump was really uncomfortable and sore last night and didn't sleep much, but I think baby has moved, kicks are no longer low down they are up to one side. We have our 4d scan today which I'm very excited about.

ChickenDipper28 · 25/07/2020 08:24

@BntTowers It's £150, not £200!
I think I'll do the same with getting disposables first. Good idea renting first as it is quite a lot to splash out on before knowing whether they are any good or not!

Ooh good luck on your 4D scan today! How exciting ☺️
