Thanks all for advice on the nighties, I've ordered 2 in the next size up.
@babymama09 great news on the scan, everything crossed for you that she stays put as long as possible.
@BntTowers that does not make you a failure! Just look after yourself and let them keep an eye on you.
I am struggling in the heat today, feeling much heavier all of a sudden. Just doing little bits in between breaks. My washing came out smelling worse than when it went in. I really hope the machine isn't broken, that would be too much right now.

HerondaleDucks · 06/08/2020 17:19

Bless you @BntTowers thats what I'm worried about. You just take care of yourself and look into low gi foods. Thats what I'm doing!

I've taken myself off to the gym today so a)I can have some air conditioning and b) to try and make some difference to the test tomorrow. Maybe a fools hope but the cold air is nice

FourPlasticRings · 06/08/2020 17:27

Don't blame yourself @BntTowers. It's nothing you've done or not done, just that your body is struggling a bit to cope with the impact of pregnancy.

Treacle81 · 06/08/2020 17:41

Aww try not see it like that @BntTowers just think of seeing the baby like you dais. Feels like forever ago I had my 20 wk scan! This is the first time my heart burn med hasn't worked 😢 dunno if means I'm getting used to it. Go through a bottle a week xx

MrsD1990 · 06/08/2020 17:41

@BntTowers don't blame yourself! Understand you will be feeling down but please don't beat yourself up about it!!

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I'm exactly the same, I'm doing sooo much DIY. I try to remind myself to stop and have breaks and drink water etc but sometimes I get into the zone and time gets away from me! Also I'm trying to get things done before baby arrives and there's so much to do!!!

Thanks everyone for all the luck for the house move - two solids days spent packing, two solid days spent unpacking!! We were in the new place for about 20 minutes when our cat decided to hide inside the kitchen unit... Poor thing was stressed about moving but it meant we spent about an hour trying to get her out and then another hour making sure the kitchen unit was cat-proof!! Any extra stress we didn't really need!

We've got quite a long way to go before I can start on our nursery - was hoping that I'd be able to start on it when we move in but were sleeping in the nursery while we wallpaper strip and paint the master... Hopefully we will sort it soon, it's taking longer than I imagined.

On the up side, did loaaaads of shopping yesterday. Bought the cot, car seat, lots of clothes etc. I think we've bought almost everything now! So really happy with that 🙂

LostinAusten2 · 06/08/2020 18:43

@babymama09 - so glad for your news, sending very best wishes to you and the bump

@BntTowers - there’s a huge number of women develop diabetes for no reason, it’s most definitely not your fault! Good luck with the tests and clinic, and to be honest I think I’d really like to have extra scans - this final 10 week is looking looooooooong!

Yay for the shopping @MrsD1990 - there’s so much we haven’t done, but baby’s first Liverpool FC onesie just arrived so we’ve got the essentials 😄

Zaalfruit · 06/08/2020 19:30

@LostinAusten2 omg my Dh brought a lfc onesie - he an avid supporter and has years of joys when they won.

@babymama09 sending lots of well wishes and hugs to you and the bump !! Flowers

@MrsD1990 congrats and yay on the move . Deffo you don’t need the cat stress - but on the upside you did the essential shopping - I have decided not to get a buggy yet - but we deffo need a car seat . I am so indecisive.

@BntTowers :( it’s not your fault - just look after yourself and take in the extra checks . ( I know easier said then done ) but at least you get to see baby on the bright side.

My sister in law brought a few newborn items - anyone else worried they will have A big baby- I’m only 5’2 and the weight is getting to me .

Had midwife appointment been told I need to cut back on the sugars and caffeine- was hold a full sugar coke and they had a near fit - I been feeling so sick again and only coke helps . Anyone else been advised to go on 30 min walks everyday . Been told that will help with the back pain and to do stretches everyday.

MrsK89 · 06/08/2020 20:00

Hope everyone is feeling better.
Any recommendations to buy them really big pads for after birth? Last time they gave me a load from the hospital, but I don't think they provide them anymore.
I've just bought a load of large knickers and a pack of disposable pants x

MrsD1990 · 06/08/2020 20:18

@LostinAusten2 is that baby's going home outfit? I still need to work out what I want baby to come home in!

@Zaalfruit I found choosing the car seat so difficult!! I was indecisive too but I decided to bite the bullet and get the maxi cosi pebble since I knew people who liked it a lot

I've also just bought a nursing chair! Looks like once I've started spending I'm finding it hard to stop! All things I've been thinking about getting for ages though!

Spark27 · 06/08/2020 20:29

@MrsK89 I got some of the Always slim maternity pads. Got them from amazon. Think it was about £6 for 3 packs. I've also got a pack of thicker Tescos ones.

@babymama09 best wishes to you and baby. Fingers crossed she stays in there for a while xx

Packing to go away on a self catering holiday with a toddler is basically just moving all of your stuff from your house to another house. I dread to think what it will be like when we add a baby into the mix 😅

MrsK89 · 06/08/2020 20:35

@Spark27 Thank you!

Treaclepie19 · 06/08/2020 20:42

I've got boots maternity pads. I like sainsbury's best.

OP posts:
CharlieBalf · 06/08/2020 20:55

@MrsK89 boots do some special post natal ones, warning they are HUGE. I have some reusable bamboo pads which I'll prob use.
TMI altert: I actually brought them for a MC I had two years ago and then continued to use them for my normal cycles. So much more comfortable than synthetic ones or tampons. You can some from Amazon.

Treacle81 · 06/08/2020 21:10

@MrsK89 I bought Boots own brand as heard so many good reports on them, v cheap xx

MrsK89 · 06/08/2020 21:41

@CharlieBalf
Thank you, I am looking for the humongous ones, the only ones I ever feel comfortable using after birth! I'm not sure I can use reusable ones, the amount of blood the 1st couple of days and weeks is crazy, so I don't know how well I will deal with that!

Thank you @Treacle81 I will pop down and buy a couple of packs.

Panic is starting to set in now 😑 x

MrsK89 · 06/08/2020 21:43

@Treaclepie19 Thank you. Knowing me I will end up getting a pack from each supermarket 😬

blankiesandunicorns · 06/08/2020 21:58

Thanks for the reassurance. Yes @FourPlasticRings I had heard scans can be inaccurate. I am having another scan at 36 weeks to check again and got midwife on Monday so will be able to talk to her about it. I'm ok about it though as baby looks healthy so that's good enough for me right now

Zaalfruit · 06/08/2020 22:40

I got the boots ones they are huge - I like slim pads - my flow is never that heavy . Going to feel So weird moving around With a huge pad .

Just remembered I haven’t had my period since December, it will feel So weird to have periods again. I remember the disappointment with ttc and when my periods made an appearance.

Spark27 · 06/08/2020 22:57

Urgh, I am not looking forward to having periods again. Such a faff. Might be the one thing to make me bf/express for longer. Although last time I got annoyed by always smelling of stale milk, no matter how much I showered 😞

MrsK89 · 06/08/2020 23:15

@Spark27 I breastfed for 2 years and it made no difference to my periods Sad

LexiM · 06/08/2020 23:25

I haven't had a period in many many years, I didn't before I conceived and when I did years ago I used tampons, so I really dont look forward to using the massive pads post birth. All so glamorous!

@MrsD1990 glad the move went well but sorry to hear about the cat. Hope he/she settles well over time.

@BntTowers definitely not your fault with GD, anyone can get it during pregnancy. It's not just a certain type of person.

@Zaalfruit ah it's so hard to give up something that makes you feel a little better during this time. I love a coke too. I know what you mean about baby size, weve barely brought any newborn because I'm convinced from family baby sizes we wont have a small baby. That being said a couple of friends have given us some of their newborn baby clothes, so we have some should he be small!

FourPlasticRings · 07/08/2020 05:43

@Spark27, you smell less like stale milk the longer you do it for. Once the supply lessens, you stop leaking and you no longer need breast pads it goes away. I haven't smelled milky for an age. Still breastfeeding DD, and conceived Baby2 at 18 months post partum having had no periods post birth. Before that contraception stopped them, so I think it's been about a decade since my last period! Not looking forward to the excessive blood loss.

Haven't bought any toiletries for post birth yet, need to get breast pads, maternity pads and disposable knickers. Ooh, and lasinoh! And nappies! Ah well, one shopping trip and it'll all be done.

Treaclepie19 · 07/08/2020 07:27

I am so not looking forward to periods again. Mine are always really heavy and long 😩

OP posts:
Zaalfruit · 07/08/2020 07:33

Yep not looking forward to periods .

Does breastfeeding reduce periods ? I did not know that if that’s the case I will try harder to breast feed .

Baby is still transverse - Hoping in the next three weeks she turns.

BntTowers · 07/08/2020 07:35

Thanks, it was all just a bit upsetting. I though I had gotten away with it as the blood test was on Friday last week and it had been nearly a week. I've calmed down a bit now emotionally, I don't see the clinic or go for my scan until Thursday so I'm just going to cut out/ down any obvious things in the mean time and see if that makes any difference. As I was right on the edge I'm hoping it will just be a diet controlled thing. It's hard to get your head round this late in the pregnancy and just another stress that I could do without.

@MrsD1990 sorry to hear about the cat hiding one of ours was like that when we moved, just have to give it a little time to get use to it. Have you got a feliway diffuser? It helped with one of ours I'm sure but not the one that got freaked out. Congrats on the move.

I've got some of the boots ones, wanted some Sainsbury's ones but DH looked once and couldn't see them so declared that the store didn't stock them... I'm hoping to move onto reusable pads after the bleeding slows a little as I find them slightly more comfortable than the disposal ones but not sure how long I'll be in the disposal.
