No McDs girls, queue was ridiculous! So got a BK instead. Was alright lol. Yes @Quiffy typical! Hoping we have a few nice days in Sept get it all done then. Saying that, meant to be nice this weekend... So might start it then. I've been grumpy today to the point of hanging up on my mother 😑 hoping it doesn't last long - very hormonal xx

otterbaby · 05/08/2020 15:23

@Treaclepie19 sounds stressful but I'm glad everything was okay!

@Quiffy yep, can't actually believe I have another 8+ weeks of this. I'm either wheezing, groaning or crying. I'm sure I'm a treat to be around!

Just been for my 31 week appt and I've fallen off my growth chart 😔 so now I have an emergency growth scan booked in tomorrow, even though I already had a 32 week one booked for Monday. It worries me that they couldn't wait for that one. She's still head down and curved into a bit of a c-shape with bum on my left and feet on my right so I'm hoping it's just her positioning. Was feeling so confident up until now!

LostinAusten2 · 05/08/2020 15:56

Hey @otterbaby - good luck for tomorrow 🤞

I don’t think the ultrasound is always accurate: I’ve been trickling along mid-chart but just had a 30 week scan and my bumps off the charts big, over 95th percentile! No idea why and trusting them when they say no action needed, hopefully a more normal size at the 36 week scan...

Treaclepie19 · 05/08/2020 15:57

Thanks everyone! Just had a little unplanned nap on the sofa. Woke up a little breathless so think I must have been leaning back a bit far.

We ended up with mcdonalds. The queues to go in were mad though 😱 Drive thru moved quite quickly.

Treacle81 · 05/08/2020 16:23

@otterbaby what do you mean fallen off growth chart? As in big or small? N ever had growth chat mentioned, I'll bring it up next week. Hope all OK. Oh lucky you @Treaclepie19 ill try again in a few wee weeks for mine lol. In a bath as only thing that seems to help pains, sister even said my bump looks tight earlier xx

otterbaby · 05/08/2020 16:41

@Treacle81 measuring too small - I had been plotted at 50th percentile at 26 & 28 weeks and now I've dropped down to the 10th. Fingers crossed she's just in a weird position.

blankiesandunicorns · 05/08/2020 19:50

Iv got a scan to check my placenta has moved tomorrow as was low lying at my 20 week scan. It wasn't covering it just a bit lower than they would like. Anyone else had/got this?

Good luck @otterbaby for tomorrow.

Treaclepie19 · 05/08/2020 20:06

The cramps are off again tonight, every 10 minutes. Going to have dinner, water and maybe paracetamol and hope for the best.

@blankiesandunicorns they said mine was low and then said oh its not really that low so I'm a little nervous about it. Going to mention to the consultant next week.
Everything I've read says they normally do move by themselves. Hope it goes well :)

OP posts:
bluemoon2468 · 05/08/2020 20:53

@Treaclepie19 I'm also having really bad cramps. I can only assume they're Braxton Hicks? I was a little bit worried yesterday that I was going unto premature labour or something but they cooled off during the day today and are back again tonight 😔

Treaclepie19 · 05/08/2020 20:57

@bluemoon2468 yeah most likely braxton hicks but don't be afraid to phone to get checked.
The hospital told me regular paracetamol and just phone back if it gets worse. They come on like braxton hicks with pelvic cramps, period pain and back pain. Every 10 minutes. Yesterday they got quite intense which is why I went in.
Today I guess I'll just try and ride it out unless the pain is unbearable or I have bleeding.

OP posts:
CharlieBalf · 05/08/2020 21:39

@blankiesandunicorns I have a scan next Wednesday to check if my placenta is still low lying. As this is my first I'm not really sure what it means either way!

What exactly are braxton hicks? I mean, what do they feel like if that isn't a stupid question 😂

Treaclepie19 · 05/08/2020 21:55

@CharlieBalf bump goes solid and it feels crampy, like a mini contraction. Should last a short while and go off.
They're most often painless but mine never have been.

OP posts:
blankiesandunicorns · 05/08/2020 22:36

Thank you @Treaclepie19 and I hope you better soon. I suppose it's not surprising our bodies will start doing strange things with only a few weeks left to go!

@CharlieBalf I have one DD and wasn't low lying with her so I haven't had this before either. I am so hoping it's moved upwards but nothing we can do, just have to wait. Apparently though 9 times out of 10 it moves and I have spoken to several people who had it and it moved so that's promising

Treacle81 · 05/08/2020 23:09

Yup had the intense cramps tonight again, they actually scared me enough to think I'll not be able to birth this baby without an epidural. Think that's my ideal water birth with G & A out the window!!! Fear is setting in!! xx

FourPlasticRings · 06/08/2020 06:12

@CouscousEvaporator Health visitor visits vary by area. I didn't have one until post baby with my first and expect the same this time around.

@HerondaleDucks don't worry about the sugar too much- I had to have two GTTs last pregnancy and was fine. No GD. In fact, this pregnancy I had a GTT on a Friday which came back clear, then I had a midwife appointment on the Monday which showed sugar in the urine! She said in future just make sure I take the sample before I've had breakfast.

Lovely scan pic @Buzz22 and congratulations on the positive scan @Spark27.

Those with older kids, are you sending them to day nursery/clubs etc? Tempted to start DD in nursery soon so she's used to it before the baby gets here but slightly concerned from a coronavirus perspective.

Treaclepie19 · 06/08/2020 06:59

Thanks @blankiesandunicorns :)
I'm so worn out 🙈

@Treacle81 you'll be amazed at what you can cope with, try not to panic just yet.

@FourPlasticRings not yet but our 4yo starts reception September and he will be going to that. He needs it so I'm taking the risk. Plus he will be 5 on the first day of term so unless I homeschool him and deregister I don't have much choice.

BettyBotter1 · 06/08/2020 07:04

@otterbaby I hope all goes well with your scan today. Hopefully it will put your mind at rest.

Hope those with Braxton hicks are feeling better.

I know some people have bought boohoo nighties, can you tell me how they come up sizing wise? I've never bought anything from them.

Quiffy · 06/08/2020 07:43

@LexiM that’s so good the event is cancelled (well not for the event) so you’re not crazy busy. Think the last stretch is going to be great fun, I feel like an old horse that should be sent to the glue factory 😹

@Treacle81 think you get a free pass on being grumpy - it’s hard not to be right now!

@otterbaby hope you’re not to stressed for scan today, sure it’s just her positioning and the measuring is so inaccurate anyway.

Hope braxton hicks are easing for those with them ❤️

Spark27 · 06/08/2020 08:32

@FourPlasticRings we sent DD back to nursery as soon as it opened. She needed it as she was so bored and missing her friends, and I needed that bit of time away from her. She goes 2 days a week. They keep them in a bubble in their age group and do temperature checks on the way in. I'm impressed that in the month+ shes been back that we've had no calls to say theres been an outbreak there.
My thoughts were that I also couldn't cope with her and a newborn fulltime, and I didnt want to wait til the new baby was here and then send her as she might feel like she was being pushed out. I wanted to get her back into a routine. And while I dont want her to get Covid, if shes going to be exposed I'd rather it be before we have a newborn. Not sure if that makes sense though 😹

Spark27 · 06/08/2020 08:34

@FourPlasticRings DD picked up a cold within 2 weeks of being back at nursery (we got a test just in case and it wasnt covid) so it shows the bugs they are normally exposed to at nursery and how it hit her after that 4 month gap. I'd like her to build up her immunity to all that stuff again before the baby comes as well x

Treaclepie19 · 06/08/2020 08:48

@Spark27 those are the things I'm worried about. He will start reception a month before I'm due so I just hope we don't end up with a clash of isolating/testing and labour.

I am so fed up of work. There's been a lot of changes recently which has added lots of extra stress for everyone and I keep getting snotty emails from a few people. I'm so tempted to move my mat leave forward to just get away from it, but could also do with more money for longer. I think the extra stress and not taking as many breaks has meant that I'm not feeling baby move as much which causes worry on top of not sleeping well. I just have to remember that I'm feeling baby wiggle away now instead of getting a lot of kicks a the moment. Can't wait to be back to my 4 day weeks next week.

@Treacle81 I hope the cramps have passed, or at least aren't as bad. I'm a bit scared too that I won't be able to cope with the pain but I'm sure it will be different when it's actually happening.

@HerondaleDucks I hope your gtt goes well, it's annoying that they have to do it again but hopefully it was just a blip and everything is fine.

@otterbaby it's maybe just baby's position and the scan should clear that up, good luck today.

I'm not getting any Braxton Hicks yet, I did wake up this morning to a bit of a crusty nipple though. 30 weeks today.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 06/08/2020 09:16

@BettyBotter1 I ordered a size up from normal and it's actually really quite big I probably should have ordered my pre pregnancy size. Have washed it too and didn't shrink at all.

Hope those with the Braxton hicks are managing ok ❤️ it sounds a bit scary

I've in the last few days started feeling nervous for the birth. First time I have throughout all this.
Maybe i need to put more time into my hypnobirthing. I just feel I'll feel out of control and I'll spiral from there.

For those with spd I woke up in middle of night with the most excruciating pain, I was laid on my left side and when I tried to get up for the toilet I moved my leg in a way I would have normally before all this and I literally had to stop and mid movement because was in so much pain it took my breath away. Realised the only way out of the pain was to just ride through it and get out of bed as quick as poss which I did and went away immediately. But was very scary and painful for the middle of the night, I hope it doesn't happen again. Xx

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 06/08/2020 09:19

Also those who are doing PBC, I'm sure she said on one of the videos you could take a mini bottle of champagne and drink that between contractions! Have I imagined this or did she mean for once baby born? I have this lovely image of me getting back to green between each contraction and sipping champagne! Does that sound right and like safe for baby?! I'm hoping so as it's what I would like to do! 😂 x

CouscousEvaporator · 06/08/2020 09:31

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I thought she meant for after! Loving the thought of sipping between contractions 😂 as an aside I’ve always found it weird about having strong drugs like morphine in labour, but a shot of whisky is frowned upon? Weird.

I hope your SPD feels better, is there anything you can do to stop it, exercises etc? I have trochanter pain and found some exercises to do which helps a bit.

Hope the GTT goes ok @HerondaleDucks

I think I’ve been getting braxton hicks, sorry to hear some are painful for some people.
I know I’ve been getting them all along as they caught one on video at a scan at 12 weeks but I couldn’t feel it!
My braxtons hicks just make me stop and pause for a few seconds.

Is anyone getting leaky boobs? I’ve had nothing but a few people on the PBC bump club have had it!

Hope you’re all ok x
