@BntTowers Happy Anniversary!!

I have my first appointment with my health visitor today and a midwife appt. Busy day!

Got a call yesterday, I've been signed up to a 6 week course called Baby Steps. Not sure what it is but hopefully it is helpful.

LexiM · 04/08/2020 10:57

@BntTowers happy anniversary! Your dinner plans sound great. I also keep talking like its July at the latest. My husband said to me yesterday you do realise its August already!

My friend is due her baby early September, I think once she is here I will be impatient for my baby!!

@HerondaleDucks is the health visitor appointment in person? How many weeks are you and do they call you? Sorry for all the questions, I just didn't know that was before baby was born and haven't heard anything!

HerondaleDucks · 04/08/2020 11:02

@LexiM I got a text message yesterday out of the blue saying they had booked an appointment to call me at 12.30. First I'd heard of it.
It's not face to face though and it said in the text that they normally come out to visit us.
I thought health visitors were for when the baby is here too.

Treaclepie19 · 04/08/2020 11:08

I've had a health visitor phone call too. They do normally do a home visit before baby arrives but not at the moment. They just discuss mental health, readiness for baby, feeding, safe sleeping and so on.

@BntTowers happy anniversary!

I don’t even think I’m getting a health visitor appointment? At least, it’s never been mentioned, maybe they’ll just show up!

Quiffy · 04/08/2020 11:30

I got a letter through a couple of weeks ago about health visitor and starting my red book. Just going to be a phonecall thankfully as it's the Tuesday I have decorators in. Still not looking forward to it though 😅

Treaclepie19 · 04/08/2020 11:34

Some people have said in their area it's only for first time parents.
I got one mainly because of my mental health I believe. Already feeling like a failure so it only highlighted that.

OP posts:
NWnature · 04/08/2020 12:21

@Treaclepie19 don’t feel like a failure , you absolutely are not

Treacle81 · 04/08/2020 12:55

@Buzz22 I'm in the same position, very jealous of these nurseries but not in a position to move out this flat till this time next year. Defo will be then though so pointless making a nursery here I feel @BntTowers Happy anniversary, tapas sound fab! I slept right through last night but I feel so tired, yesterday I was up 3 hours and needed a nap and today is no different 😳 pale and breathless so ill mention it at appt next week. Good luck with all the scans today! I went and got my big box of Fairy non bio and comfort pure so will start washing things soon. Defo eating less and taking a lot longer to finish meals due to heartburn. xx

Treaclepie19 · 04/08/2020 13:07

Thank you @NWnature. I do feel really down today. I've phoned the mental health team but had to leave a message so they should get back to me at some point.
I think being home with ds and unable to go anywhere or do anything is getting to me now. I feel bad for him and bored... and guilty.

OP posts:
Zaalfruit · 04/08/2020 13:36

@Treaclepie19 I hope that feeling eases up :(
Everything a bit meh at the moment - might pull a few sick days next week - my back is killing me .

@BntTowers happy anniversary FlowersCake

I had a random health visitor call weeks ago it was so random - private number that called she asked Me lots of Mental health questions and then said we will be in touch once baby is born .

NWnature · 04/08/2020 13:36

@Treaclepie19 I feel like the muggy weather is oppressive too and probably adding to the feeling! Hope they call back ASAP. I honestly don’t know how you parents have survived the past few months! I’ve been wallowing in self pity and all I have to look after is a Siamese cat!!!!
It’s completely understandable to feel like that but trust me DS will not be thinking it and I bet is just pleased to have extra time with you before the little one arrives.

@Treacle81 hope you feel better, I reckon the muggy weather doesn’t help with feeling breathless and wiped out. Pleased you got a full nights sleep though! I haven’t washed a jot of clothing , in fact, most of the baby stuff is at my parents miles away as the flat is so tiny I want to leave it til last min before it gets inundated with everything and feels mega claustrophobic. Hopefully this means my mum can do the washing 😆

BntTowers · 04/08/2020 18:19

Thanks, although slight change of plans because the tapas place doesn't do take away during the week! Pregnancy brain hit again.

I'm sorry people are feeling down, it must be really hard to entertain an older child and be pregnant especially during this time, but you will be doing a fantastic job. I've been struggling today and I think it's a combination of the weather and just not sleeping right at all, doesn't help being unable to nap.
I've not had a call from the health visitor yet. I am waiting to see if I get a call about gd or not this week, as I didn't get a call yesterday I'm assuming that the bloods got tested on Friday in time as the mw was worried that they wouldn't as it was later on in the day.

HerondaleDucks · 04/08/2020 19:15

Yeah I think the health visitor called me because of my mental health as well, I wasn't very well last year. But that was down to being a primary carer for my dss and working full time. It was carers stress, stress related anxiety and depression and profound sleep deprivation. It did feel a bit like the Spanish inquisition but she said she was happy with where I'm at and how prepared I am. She's going to touch base with the MASH team just in case. But it looks like normally they don't get in touch until the baby is born and they visit 10 days after.
So she said she would see me then.

Midwife appt didn't go quite so well. My pee was sugary so she has referred me for an urgent GTT. So a second one. Now I'm really upset about it.

Spark27 · 04/08/2020 20:13

Evening ladies. Quick message while I try and catch up on all the ones from today. Scan went well. Baby still there and still a girl! They estimated me a few days ahead of my date, by stay the 12w one is more accurate. Baby seems to be tracking on 50th centile and measuring in at around 4lbs 8oz. Placenta seems to have moved down from being fundal to posterior, but still high. They noted that baby is head down, which is good as she was breech 4 weeks ago. Hopefully she stays in that position now.

Will be interesting to see what the mw measures my bump at at the 34w appt. At 28w it was 10th centile, so intrigued to know if its caught up, or if bump is small but baby is 'normal' size

Ahh hope your gtt results come back fine

Feeling rubbish past 2 days. Been getting period like lower back pains 😑 not overly painful just like a dull throbbing pain

Buzz22 · 04/08/2020 22:55

@Spark27 we had our private growth/4d scan this evening too! Unfortunately baby was in an awkward position to get a good view of her face. Head right down in my pelvis and my uterus is still slightly tiling back. Offered us another attempt for free in a week or so.
My bump was also measuring right on the 10th centile line at last midwife appointment. I was 29 weeks measuring 26.
Today at growth scan baby was measuring on 30th centile. So within average which is a relief! Leg length over average. Head average and a smaller abdomen measurement. But the sonographer said all within normal. Estimated current weight of 3lb7. So she said she wouldnt expect us to have a msssive baby!
I'm seeing the midwife again next week at 32 weeks. They said if bump was still measuring small its protocol to have an nhs growth scan. So I'm also interested to see if bump has caught up at all. Still dont feel especially big. Still wearing normal clothes but have definitely popped a bit.

Hey just a quick message today belated congrats on house moves, anniversaries and baby showers! 🥳

And sending hugs to everyone feeling pants, you’re not alone ❤️ - I’ve never been this tired in my life (and I don’t have any kids to look after), anxiety’s back in business, and managed to pull a muscle in my shoulder - how is this even possible?! Upsides, hit 30 weeks, 10 weeks to go, weathers a bit cooler and thank goodness for Nutella and strawberries 😄

BettyBotter1 · 05/08/2020 00:06

Catching up too, I've gone to stay with my parents for a couple of days while DH turns house upside down with the diy. So nice to see them, last time was january.
Thanks all for the moving to germany congratulations and positivity. I'm still a bit overwhelmed by thinking through managing our house renovations, being alone and figuring out moving to a new country, but overall am excited and looking forward to it.
@Buzz22 what a sweet face! That's great news on the 30th centile verdict, I'm sure the scan is much more reliable than the bump measuring. Nice of them to offer you a second go too so you'll get to see her again soon.
@HerondaleDucks I hope your gtt results come back ok, sending you good wishes.
@BntTowers happy 2nd anniversary! You got married 7 days before we did! Hope you had something nice to eat in place of tapas.
I also had a phone call from health visitor. She was really chatty so hard to get a word in, she wanted to give me info on safe sleeping and tell me about appointments once baby is here. She also asked a few questions. I also had anxiety noted down at my booking appointment so maybe that's why I got a call too, but I thought it was something they do for all expectant mums. I work in education and in our establishment we pay a home visit to every family when they start in reception as a matter of course so I assumed health visitors were similar. For us it's to help establish a positive relationship early on, give out information and to ask questions to get to know the child and to facilitate a smooth transition for all. No one has ever said so, but I think its also so we can get a better sense of the family and home environment and sniff out if there could be any safeguarding issues.

Also sending hugs to everyone feeling down or exhausted. Again, anyone dealing with pregnancy and already a parent, my hat off to you, no one could have foreseen this and it must be exhausting, I'm sure you're doing a fantastic job.

BettyBotter1 · 05/08/2020 00:10

@otterbaby congrats on the beautiful nursery, looks lovely.
I collected the bits my generous friend has given me, just a tiny fraction in the photo. My baby will be able to have a different outfit pretty much every day until she's 6 months with all the bits she's passed onto me! Spoilt baby! ❤

Treacle81 · 05/08/2020 09:30

Morning everyone! 2 months today I'll hopefully have my baby boy. I'm going to try measure myself for a bra as the mat ones I have are just too tight just now and doubt I can get measured in store. Beautiful little face @Buzz22 😍. Highlight of my day is going to be getting a McDs-last had one in June, partner doesn't like them, so going to my sisters via there at lunch 🤩. My whole tummy moves with baby movements now 😳 he must be getting so big xx

Treaclepie19 · 05/08/2020 09:44

Morning all!
Very tired today after a midnight visit to the hospital because of braxton hicks every 10 minutes and back pain/pelvic pressure.
Thankfully all seems fine and has slowed down but wasn't fun getting there or back.

Lovely picture @Buzz22

Enjoy your mcdonalds @Treacle81! I'm jealous 😍

@Treaclepie19 hope you’re feeling a bit better today ❤️

@Treacle81 I got all the non-bio stuff in too ready to start and it’s rained ever since 😹 put a right dampener on my excitement

@HerondaleDucks hope your gtt test goes okay

@Spark27 glad scan went well! @Buzz22 total cutie and lovely you can go back

@BettyBotter1 super cute outfits 😻

I’m having a can’t do this day. Despite going to sleep around 10 I’m still knackered from the pain and discomfort of moving and needing to pee. I’m wheezing around the house when I move with breathlessness and pain so I’m generally miserable with 9ish weeks to go. My stomach feels so stretched I’m not sure it can go much more 😭 luckily not had work sent in yet so still off but not sure how I’m going to be able to do it once I do. Anyone else feeling like this last couple of months is going to really drag? October feels like years away

Quiffy · 05/08/2020 09:54

@Treaclepie19 glad everything was okay at hospital, no wonder you’ll be tired. Hopefully you can rest as much as possible today

LexiM · 05/08/2020 10:18

Morning all, finally had a decent ish night sleep minus having to pee a lot, where does it come from, I swear it's more than I drink!!

@quiffy I can relate. I have hit 30 weeks and suddenly really feeling the baby's weight/pressure. Evenings are just going to be so uncomfortable going forward I expect and I must admit I have overall had a decent time being pregnant and any aches never lasted more than that day which i was so grateful for. Well that's all changed and still 10 weeks to go for me which feels like so long. My app said baby puts on around half a lb a week now, so we are gonna feel it. Usually I would be so busy at work with an event early September so I am really grateful that was cancelled or I would be crying with how uncomfortable I expect to be in September!

@HerondaleDucks hope your test goes ok. It must be so frustrating when you've already had one. Did you have the full 2 hour one originally? Thanks also for the info on the health visitor, I guess I will have to wait and see if I get a call.

@Buzz22 great scan pic and glad you get to go back and that baby is growing well.

@Treaclepie19 sorry you had to go in but glad everything is ok. Hope you have a more restful time now.

@Treacle81 enjoy the mcdonalds. I am so tempted too as home today... must resist!!

@BettyBotter1 lovely clothes, it's so overwhelming how generous people are isn't it. My friend has basically filled our baby wardrobe without us buying much and sizes until he is a 1 year old, it's crazy. My mum has very kindly done lots of washing this week.

It is meant to be getting hotter again towards the end of the week, oh joy. I am going to take advantage of it being slightly cooler and get some jobs done today. That being said I still find the cooler weather hot now. It's weird for me as I've always been a cold person.
