@HerondaleDucks last time I just wore a bra in the birth pool so planning on the same this time! Dignity out the window.

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy yeah I'm the same with sweet stuff. I can eat that no problem!

@MrsD1990 well done, that is a feat of achievement!! Good luck with the move tomorrow, hopefully you can soon take things easier.
@HerondaleDucks I've bought a 2 pack of black button front nighties , they will be my plan plus nursing bra, but we'll see, when it comes to it I guess we won't care.
@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I hope your iron pills kick in soon. I seem to be having some days where I'm exhausted and some where my energy is higher.
I'm also less hungry now than previously, but also no trouble eating sweet treats...

Quiffy · 02/08/2020 18:05

@BntTowers that's lovely that your dh got to hear heartbeat ❤️

@lexim ahhhh that's such a lovely surprise 😻😻😻

@BettyBotter1 that's quite the change! Congrats to your dh!

@MrsD1990 good luck with the move tomorrow!

@HerondaleDucks I have bought a few big nighties, one with buttons. I was thinking buttons would be good for skin to skin without having to whip your top off 😅

Having a very fed up of feeling like a whale weekend. I'm too big to bend easy and bump is pretty sore, which seems to be from stretching and baby doing the conga. Keep going from 0-ready to pee myself with his bladder antics. So ended up doing nothing all weekend (nesting hormones are panicking). Even dh is taking over dinner as my breathless panting and owing is annoying so I'm to sit and rest 😹

Spark27 · 02/08/2020 18:15

That sounds like a lovely baby shower @LexiM. Pleased you got the chance to be spoilt and enjoy yourself.

Wow @BettyBotter, that sounds like a really exciting adventure. And great news on the job front.

I've still got the nighties I got for labour/pregnancy last time. As I had an epidural I just ended up in the hospital gown. I'm guessing the same will happen again. Button down ones are handy though for easy access afterwards for skin to skin and breast feeding.

I am done with today. DH went out yesterday at 1530 for a socially distanced bbq (only 5 guys) and was staying out. I was very happy with this as I finally got some me time, so the evening was great. He got home by 0900 this morning, but hes been useless all day. Sat on the chair, hungover, went for a bath, had a 2 hr nap, then went to his makeshift gym. I've looked after DD, made brioche, made dinner, tidied the house, and only got 4hrs sleep. And it's been a difficult day with DD as she got a splinter in her foot which wont come out and shes been screaming whenever I try, and then she wee'd in her knickers. Sorry. Just needed to rant.

But in good new, I'm 32w today
Yay!

Spark27 · 02/08/2020 18:17

Good luck with the move tomorrow @MrsD1990. Very exciting Flowers

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 02/08/2020 21:11

@BettyBotter1 thank you! Also funny how appetites are smaller but we still all want sweet stuff!

@Quiffy I'm the same! Nesting mind in overdrive just not wanting or feeling able to do any of it!!

I had a random spurt of energy after my last post and ended up doing as much as I could in as little time as possible I was like a crazy girl running round the house because I know this energy is short lived!!

@Spark27 aw poor DD with the splinter, have you tried soaking it in warm water? Poor little thing. Xx

NWnature · 02/08/2020 23:33

@LexiM what a nice surprise!
Good luck with the move @MrsD1990 Perfect timing for nesting!

I overdid a bit this weekend with walking and my groin was really sore today- is that SPD/PGP? Hopefully it will go away this week if I take it a bit easier again. When I walk any distance it feels heavy down there. Need to keep up the pelvic floor exercises for these last few weeks!

Is anyone going to do perineal massage and / or the Aniball? I want to do anything I can to help on the big day but as the same time the massage just seems a faff and like it might scare me more!

HerondaleDucks · 03/08/2020 06:10

Good luck on your moving day today @MrsD1990 hope it goes smoothly!

I'm gonna give perineal massage a go from 34 weeks, if it reduces the risk of an episiotomy then I'm all for it.
I wrote my birth plan yesterday, so now feel a little more prepared. I was talking to my friend about it and she thinks I'm crackers cause I can't stand the idea of a water birth. Eh. Maybe I'm a weirdo.

Indigogirl88 · 03/08/2020 08:08

Morning ladies, hope everyone is doing well!

I got a primark shop at the weeekend decided to go for xl and now they're all huge so I'm annoyed I need to swap a few things!

I'm knackered today, had a lovely time seeing family at the weekend (sorry for being a bit quiet)

Looking forward to my 31 week app on Thursday and im hoping dp can come 🤞

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 03/08/2020 09:21

I'm 30 weeks today 🥳 feeling excited, seems to have hit home a bit more that in as little as I don't know maybe 7 weeks I could have a baby!

@NWnature I was going to get the aniball but asked my midwife if was safe and she had never heard of it, she said she had asked other colleagues and they also hadn't. But I don't know really if I believe her or not she's been a bit rushy with me the whole way through. Apparently a new midwife is starting in sept so i will ask her. If she also doesn't know I won't bother as it seems quite an intrusive thing I don't want to cause any harm if not actually recommended by midwives. Have you asked yours about it? I will try and do the massage but I have a feeling it'll be hard with big bump and I don't fancy asking dp to help me I think I'd find that weird.

I only know about spd because that's what I have but started with me with heaviness like a weight down there, then pain walking down stairs or turning over in bed. If it is that you really need to take it easy and do the minimum, that was the only way I could get in control of it and manage it.

Treacle81 · 03/08/2020 09:32

Morning girls! @MrsD1990 hope nice goes ok 🏡! My cousin in South Africa had first baby on Friday, little boy at 6 pounds 8 and she's been advised to brush her nipples every day with nail brush to toughen them up for breastfeeding 😳! Happy 32 weeks @Spark27, Happy 30 weeks
@AutumnBabyWinterMummy and I'm sure there are several of you celebrating 31 weeks today like me 🤩 single digit countdown!!! xx

Quiffy · 03/08/2020 09:59

@Spark27 sounds like you were a superstar yesterday, esp brioche! I hate a hangover day, seems like such a waste, esp when you're running about.

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy it's so hard when energy is so little. Woo on running around like a maddie and happy 30 weeks!

@NWnature I have the oil for it but it does seem a bit involved. I've also bought raspberry tea and tablets as these might help with more effective contractions or something? I feel like I'm clutching at straws 😂

@HerondaleDucks a water birth is total no for me. I'm not really a big fan of baths nevermind all that stuff coming out like a scene in Jaws.

@indigogirl88 happy 31 weeks! Can't believe we're in single digits 😅😅😅

HerondaleDucks · 03/08/2020 10:05

@Quiffy glad I'm not alone in thinking it would be carnage. Sitting in a pool of tepid water filled with potentially blood and poo. Not my idea of relaxing!

Happy 32 weeks @Spark27 Happy 30 weeks @AutumnBabyWinterMummy Happy 31 weeks @Indigogirl88 and Quiffy.

Only 5 more weeks till I finish work. It's creeping up now!

Treaclepie19 · 03/08/2020 10:12

I was convinced I wouldn't want a water birth as I don't do baths but when I was in labour I loved it. The water really helped make things more comfortable. I did birth on a bed because I had forceps so never had to sit in that much blood and stuff though. Planning another water birth 🤞

OP posts:
Treacle81 · 03/08/2020 10:48

I'm planning a water birth lol xx

bluemoon2468 · 03/08/2020 10:55

I'm hoping for a water birth too 🤞🏻

Spark27 · 03/08/2020 10:57

Haha, the Jaws comment made me laugh @Quiffy. A water births not for me, but mostly cos I know I want an epidural. I did have 2 baths in early labour though when I was being induced. Hoping this time if I'm not induced and get to stay home for longer I will get to have baths in the lead up. I'm not doing the massage thing. Tried it last time but it freaked me out and was awkward. And I had to have an episiotomy last time so I'm expecting it again this time.

The brioche looked amazing, but did not taste great. For some reason the yeast didnt activate properly. This is why baking annoys me. So much effort and then sometimes it just doesnt work. I'll stick to buying cake!

Had a proper grumpy last night. After going to bed early I couldn't sleep or get comfortable. Went and had a little cry on DH about how fed up I was, and how I feel forgotten by my friends, and how every day is groundhog day. and we sat up together watching TV. He was really sweet. So hes forgiven again Grin

ChickenDipper28 · 03/08/2020 11:19

@MrsD1990 Good luck on the move! 😬

Happy 30/31/31 weeks @Spark27 @AutumnBabyWinterMummy @Indigogirl88 @Quiffy & @Treacle81 😍🥰 Not long now! So weird knowing baby could be here in 7 weeks 😍

I still haven't made a birth plan yet 😳 Trying to decorate the nursery and get the house more prepared!

Just a question to anyone who's been given iron tablets! At my booking appointment my iron levels were 129. At my 28 week appointment they were 105 which is right on the level for low iron. I've been prescribed tablets which are 210mg to be taken twice a day. Just wondering if this is the same strength you were all given as it just seems a lot? Especially to be taken twice a day!

CharlieBalf · 03/08/2020 11:27

Just sent hubby out for snacks 😂 Can't believe I'm 31 weeks! Happy single didgets everyone who just reached 30!
I have to wait till scan at 32 weeks to see where the placenta is to start planning the birth but I think I'll try for an active birth with a bit of gas and air. I've done a lot of research on historical/natural birthing positions and hope to just let my body go with what it wants.

What are you taking to give birth in?

CouscousEvaporator · 03/08/2020 11:53

Hi everyone, happy 30/31/32 weeks 🥳
Can’t believe we are this close! I’m nearing 32 weeks. Bag is packed, just need to wash a mountain of baby clothes and cloth nappies 😫

I’ve been really struggling with hip pain but I’m trying to see it as my body getting all relaxed for labour! Has anyone else got this, it’s like right in the ball and socket?!

I’m planning a water birth but pushing on land with a hot flannel as apparently if a midwife can see she can help prevent tearing...I also hate baths so am not sure if I’ll like it!! Basically I don’t know what will happen 😂
I’ve been doing positive birth company and whilst some of it is a bit too “out there” for me, they have a group where people can share their positive births and it’s been so helpful.

@CharlieBalf I’m going to bring an old massive T-shirt to give birth in, but might just be in a bra to be honest. I hear you get warm. I’ve bought a partial button down nightie for after for breastfeeding. Hoping I don’t have to stay on the ward though as I have to go to that ward as part of my job 😫 awks.

Treaclepie19 · 03/08/2020 11:56

I'm planning on birthing just in a bra in the pool like last time. I put on a loose tshirt for when I moved to a bed for forceps last time.

So exciting that people are 31 weeks. I will be on Wednesday!

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 03/08/2020 12:14

@Treacle81 you mean she was advised to toughen them up before baby was here or now that baby is here? Happy 31 weeks!

I love baths, they always sort me out emotionally and physically so hoping baths/ water birth will work for me!

@ChickenDipper28 I'm on the tablets, my iron at 28 weeks was same as yours I think (I can't remember the exact number I didn't write it down!) but I've been given 322mg for twice a day, I also thought seemed high. I read though the body has a way of sorting out if iron is too high whereas it's a problem if iron too low. Only been on them just over a week and not particularly feeling any better. Midwife said if doesn't improve I'll have to have an infusion, that really scared me.

@CharlieBalf happy 31 weeks!

Happy 30/31/32 weeks to everyone else who's day it is!!

otterbaby · 03/08/2020 12:32

Also part of the 31 week gang today 🎉 9 weeks to go...or possibly 8...or 7?! Ah!

I'm planning on a water birth as well. I've bought a black sports bra for it. I have a few button-down nighties for afterwards, but will be packing a few t-shirts and tank tops just so I have plenty of options. Fingers crossed I'll be admitted to the birth centre I want where I get to stay in my own little room until I go home, the thought of going on the ward gives me a bit of anxiety!

Re: the poo, apparently they have little nets for this purpose? 😂 my husband has lovingly said he'll volunteer to be the poo catcher so what more can I ask for?

@Spark27 I felt the same yesterday! Really sulky and grumpy all day. I don't really want a baby shower but the fact that I'm not having one was bothering me yesterday. Feeling a bit forgotten sometimes because I'm stuck in the house all day. And the heat has been making me so uncomfortable.

@CouscousEvaporator I felt the same about some of the videos, I think my midwife will look at me like I'm nuts if I ask for them to not say the word 'contractions' or 'pain' and so on!

As a positive, I think our nursery is pretty much done! Still want a few bits for the walls but waiting to decide on baby's name before we commit. I'm really happy with it ❤️

Also @Treacle81if breastfeeding is comparable to scratching my nips with a nail brush, I may as well give up now 😖 that's pretty hardcore!

Treacle81 · 03/08/2020 12:40

They told her to pack one in hospital bag! It horrified me at the thought! I've just looked it up and thankfully those days are long gone! My Aunt over there done it with both her pregnancies, I certainly won't be! Yea they don't just leave you surrounded by poo, it's fished straight out the pool xx
