Bump has doubled in size over night. Is anyone having lower abdominal and back cramps, especially when walking. Currently lying down with a hot water bottle on my back 😔

Alana1984 · 30/07/2020 17:41

@Quiffy if yarn is how you solve life's problems we have a lot in common 😂

Alana1984 · 30/07/2020 17:47

@spark27 almond milk helps me with the heartburn.

@mrsd1990 you have my absolute sympathy, I've been treated so badly since I said I was pregnant - initially my manager said I couldn't have any holiday between March and August despite the fact I'm working on the highest priority project across Europe for our organisation and was on 12 meetings a day! Shocking...

MrsD1990 · 30/07/2020 19:15

@Alana1984 how horrible they've been treating you badly since finding out you're pregnant!! And really annoying they're not allowing you to take holiday - you're going to have loads to take now before you go on mat leave but that'll be their doing!! Does this mean you can leave work and go on mat leave a bit earlier?

Alana1984 · 30/07/2020 20:18

@mrsd1990 after a few chats with hr and completing the risk assessment form, my boss relented and said I could take some holiday, so 1 day in July, 3 in August but I can't use it before mat leave. It'll all roll over to after mat leave at least.

After I called in sick a few weeks ago (hospital visit for reduced fetal movements) he told me my impromptu absences might affect me achieving my objectives 🙄. I explained what happened (the next day) and he said but the baby is fine now right?

Can't wait to leave - horrid boss aside, I don't think people realise what an impact a stressful job has. I hope you get a bit of space from your place!

LostinAusten2 · 30/07/2020 20:54

@Alana1984: sending you a hug, your boss is awful! I’m so angry just hearing about this: you’ve had to get checked for fetal movements meaning potentially serious concerns about your baby, and you get criticised! Ohhhh... 😡 You’re doing incredibly well to put up with that on top of pregnancy ⭐️

Treacle81 · 30/07/2020 21:20

I also feel completely fed up and at the end of my tether with work! I cannot
wait to finish up!! I have been experiencing tightening for the last few HOURS now, on and off, that's the most I've ever felt! Had quite a 'sore bump' day though and put that down to growth spurt. Hope it calms soon as very tired n need good sleep xx

HerondaleDucks · 30/07/2020 21:51

Sorry to hear about the nightmare boss @Alana1984 sounds awful. Hope you're OK!

I have a very kicky child tonight. I thought my session at the gym would quieten him but oh no he's doing his own workout now.
Had a burning desire for rice krispie treats... so in honour of all you ladies I said up yours to the food nazi and made them! Delicious

HerondaleDucks · 30/07/2020 21:53

Also... hitting 31 weeks on Saturday... is this when i should be making a birth plan?

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 30/07/2020 22:22

Ah sorry those of you who are having a hard time with work and bosses and colleagues etc. All sounds really stressful and not what you need. Why can't they just be a bit easier on you knowing you have a baby that's due not that long from now...

@HerondaleDucks glad you had the rice crispy treats!! And I haven't thought about birth plan yet, my midwife said it's not discussed until 34 weeks, I think that's quite far a long to say some babies make an appearance around then.

Just heard on the news where I live (north of eng) lockdown has slightly started up again. So from midnight tonight no mixing with another household inside so in houses or indoor public places. Luckily I have been doing much indoor mixing anyway but apparently it's also said private gardens are out of bounds too. I thought things were starting to get better 😐 xx

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 30/07/2020 22:23

Meant to put luckily I haven't been doing much indoor mixing x

otterbaby · 30/07/2020 22:33

@HerondaleDucks oooh Rice Krispie treats sound delish...I might have to copy you! Hope you enjoyed them.

I've made my birth plan. I figure it's there for when I need it and I can easily pull it up on my phone if/when my midwife wants to discuss it. I also go in and make changes to it sometimes if I read about something that I think would be useful to include!

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I just saw that 😔 what a nightmare. Wish people would just behave so this wasn't necessary!

babymama09 · 31/07/2020 00:17

Hi girls thank you so much for all of your supportive messages. No, not confident on her name yet its still wriggles or ladybug atm. As its just past midnight we have entered 28 weeks and 1 day 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌I have a scan today at 1.30pm can't wist to see her again on the screen keep recording her heart beat each week to keep as a record. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞Everything is still okay and she is still fluid free in other areas of the body. They are still trying to push me to go to 37 weeks which I will not do i think it's too dangerous to wait that long. How is everyone?? Xx

Zaalfruit · 31/07/2020 05:50

@babymama09 I have had no sleep due to the heat so my mood is so off. However your post made me smile . I’m excited for you X

@Alana1984 seriously that sounds awful - you and I should go on strike with work. My work place has been bad - not as bad as yours.

Any one fancy a sweet treat yesterday I got a bit excited I made sprinkle cake , fudge brownies and lastly cookies and cream brownies - my craving for sugar is insane.

Treacle81 · 31/07/2020 06:28

Morning! Of course I'm wide awake at half 4 on my day off 😑. @AutumnBabyWinterMummy that's rubbish, our swimming pools aren't opening till middle of Sept and even that's not a definite 🙄 @Zaalfruit oh they all sound delicious. I've had to try n put a stop to sugary snacks as my skin is reacting to it and getting me down. This pregnancy has me drinking fizzy juice, craving sweet things like cakes and sugary, fizzy sweets. I only drink water normally and would rarely eat cake or sweets 😳 so it's back to the fibre one bars if I fancy 'cake' and diluted juice. Partner said its all time you can eat what you fancy just enjoy but I feel complete opposite as can't work out like I used to. I'll treat myself to something once a week but that's it ( wish me luck). Lol. What are you girls eating snack wise? xx

Indigogirl88 · 31/07/2020 06:30

@HerondaleDucks my dp last night said that he feels like a sperm donor as he's had no input and not felt the baby yet! Nobody has felt on the outside as I've got an anterior placenta!

Hes coming to my 31 week app next week so hopefully he'll feel.more engaged!

Indigogirl88 · 31/07/2020 06:34

@Treacle81 snap, day off and up silly early! My movements haven't been as rigorous last few days, but I've put it down to being busy tbh and not laid down and felt her

Zaalfruit · 31/07/2020 07:11

@Indigogirl88 I have been feeling reduced movements too - but I googled it - it could be the heat . They don’t like it and don’t fancy moving around so much x

BntTowers · 31/07/2020 08:40

@Indigogirl88 @Zaalfruit I haven't had too many movements the last few days either, I think it must be the heat and being busy at work.

@Alana1984 it sounds awful having to deal with all of that on top of being pregnant, my work has been really crap with me, but yours sounds like a lot to deal with. The other day on a team call they kept saying about all the things I'll have to do once I'm back and I'm just there thinking "yeah, if you think I'm coming back here..."

@babymama09 good luck at your scan today. It's good that they are monitoring you so closely now.

Our in laws called at 5.30 last night asking to pop round, didn't turn up until gone 8pm... I made a point of going inside and getting a cardigan as soon as it started to get cold as a hint for them to leave at 9pm. Kinda worked they left at 9.15.
I have a midwife appointment today, first time being measured. I've just looked at my chart and there's ticks on 29, 32, 34 and 37 weeks so I'm guessing that's when they will measure.

Treaclepie19 · 31/07/2020 08:58

Anyone worrying about lack of movements, I'd still suggest calling. It could well be the heat but if you're hydrated and baby is okay they should still be wriggling about (the midwife said)
The baby shouldn't really notice the difference because your body will regulate yours and their temperature.
Always worth a check even if you just phone and ask for advice.

otterbaby · 31/07/2020 09:04

It's due to be 30 degrees here today. Wish me luck 😭

@BntTowers 8pm! I'm in bed by 9pm, that definitely wouldn't fly!

@Treacle81 once a week is really good going. I couldn't manage. I'm similar, only drink water normally but have really been fancying full fat cokes so treat myself once a week. Can't cut out the cookies and chocolate though! Snack-wise been trying to have crackers with cheese, green apples (my current addiction), Greek yogurt, celery sticks with peanut butter... it's all healthy until we hit the evening and the sweets come out 🐷

Also I went to a pregnancy yoga class last night! I paid for online courses at home but only did one, couldn't find the motivation. This was great though. Everyone was socially distanced and it was so nice to be out and see other people. And amazingly I can still touch my toes!!

Alana1984 · 31/07/2020 09:10

Thanks all, sadly I'm used to the treatment - the plan is to start a business or find something else after mat leave.

@HerondaleDucks gym session? Wow. You're my hero! I'm trying to walk a few miles a day but that's about it!

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy - I saw this morning, 2 hours notice! That's really not playing fair.

@babymama09 That is wonderful news, keep us updated xx

@Zaalfruit and @Indigogirl88 - mine's been a little reduced as well but I've also been quite busy so I've started to make sure I take a few breaks throughout the day to "check-in" and count some kicks. So far so good, but like @Treaclepie19 says, if his movements are actually reduced I'd be on the phone to triage immediately. I've been in once and they're really lovely, they do a few tests and say not to hesitate to come back in at any time if you're worried. xx

Good luck with the heat today everyone!

bluemoon2468 · 31/07/2020 09:58

Re: reduced movements my midwife said if I feel like his movements are reduced, lie on my left side and focus completely on counting kicks/movements. You only need to worry if you get less than 10 movements in 2 hours (this is from the up to date NICE guidelines). I always end up getting up to 10 within half an hour to an hour, and have never even needed to lie there for the 2nd hour, so it's really reassuring! Has saved a lot of unnecessary trips to the hospital when I'm panicking 😊

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 31/07/2020 10:18

@babymama09 hope the scan goes good today and so happy it's all working out for you.

@Treacle81 wish I could do once a week but to be honest I have something sweet at least once a day 😩 I've always been like that though. I always have my 5 a day or fruit/ veg but other than that probably not the best diet in the world.

@bluemoon2468 I totally agree with what you said. I've started doing it the last few days every day anyway as it's recommended at this stage. When she's active it usually takes less than 10 mins then that means I'm reassured for the day xx

BntTowers · 31/07/2020 10:23

I'll mention reduced movements today with the midwife, but baby has been wiggly all morning, just less of the big kicks I think. I do try to have a 20 minute break in the morning and one in the afternoon to make sure I can feel them but the last few days has just been manic at work so I haven't been able to.

@otterbaby I think I'm going to give them an arrival and departure time next time see if they can stick to it. I think that's something I'm going to do when baby arrives as well to try and limit exposure to other people. If they end up being late then they lose out on time instead of it being added on (I might be being a bit too strick but bad time keeping really annoys me and it's a constant with them).
