I got mine from amazon it s pink and it's specifically for pregnancy they did it in different sizes depending on you height! Xx

MummyBearBoo · 27/07/2020 14:15

I've washed and ironed steepsuirs which DD had in newborn size but I haven't washed any of the new ones yet! I use fairy non-bio, comfort pure and dettol laundry cleanser for all new baby clothes!! Xx

Spark27 · 27/07/2020 14:21

@otterbaby I'm paying £300 for 2/3 people for a whole day. They are deep cleaning 1 family bathroom, 2 shower rooms, 1 downstairs toilet. Deep cleaning 1 kitchen, 1 living room and 1 dining room. They are also cleaning 2 hallways and cleaning the carpets in the living room and dining room, and 2 sets of stairs (3 storey townhouse). I've been meaning the get the hallway carpets cleaning for 4 years, since we moved in Grin

Spark27 · 27/07/2020 14:27

After wondering about baby being fairly quiet yesterday (I wasnt worried enough to call the hospital but was keeping an eye on it) she has been beating me up today. DD keeps asking if I'm ok as I keep saying Ow. She now thinks it's funny that the baby is beating me up inside

BntTowers · 27/07/2020 14:56

I don't think I can afford for a cleaner to come in before baby is born. Will just have to do it myself, it would be lovely to know that everything is super clean though, dh's cleaning standards and mine are very different so with him doing most of it at the moment it still makes me anxious.

@Zaalfruit, it's nuts them thinking to add more responsibility to you at this stage! Sounds like it would be good for you to start mat leave early.

I started on Friday, just the little vests and the cheeky wipes I have then I also washed all the Moses basket sheets and cotbed sheep's we've got. I had also got some waterproof mattress covers from Asda and they are taking an age to dry, but they do seem to have a good waterproof layer with a Terry towelling top. I have another load of more colourful sleepsuits to do which I might do on my day off tomorrow.

I think mum's and mils find it a little competitive with who can do what. My mil has been saying that because she's retired and lives "around the corner" (read a 25 minute drive on a good day) she can come round any time to help. My mum has been going over board with knitting toys blankets and clothes which are lovely and she can't wait to start buying more, she already has her eye on little sodden toys from the local market. I need to think of something that the mil can buy us so she doesn't feel left out.

I'm struggling with feeling a lot of low down pressure almost today, finding it uncomfortable to sit for too long, plus I just don't want to be working any more. After next week I'm down to 4 days a well until mat leave starts.

MrsD1990 · 27/07/2020 15:06

@otterbaby I am desperate for us to have a cleaner again when the baby comes. A deep clean is a really good idea but I don't know where we would go while the cleaners are in the house... Also with Covid I'm not 100% sure about us having a cleaner regularly even though I really really want one. I'll leave this decision for later!!

@zaalfruit my birthing ball is from Amazon, it's teal and I think it was about £40. I've not started washing baby clothes yet - I will probably do it next week when I have time off (although might end up doing DIY instead...) I'm excited to wash the baby clothes 🥰🥰

Indigogirl88 · 27/07/2020 17:13

Hi all sorry I've been quiet past few days, been monitoring movement as it was a little low and was dealing with a balloon foot all day Friday. Text the midwife and it took her over a day to respond, so ill just ring triage in future so annoying!

I'm the same on the work front, counting down till i finish 18th September, I keep getting more work at the minute and im totally fed up most days, sigh not long

Dp had a go at me as not packed hospital bag yet, so going to start it this week

30 weeks tomorrow Grin

Treacle81 · 27/07/2020 18:52

That's a few of us finishing up on 18th Sept, seems so long away right enough! I'm not organising bags till then, plenty of time still and no doubt if I wash just now I'll want to wash again nearer time, so I'm waiting. Although slept great last night, have napped today and very hungry. Apparently we should have 200 more calories a day so that seems about right. Been craving a McDs and chocolate so getting both tomorrow! I'd love to know size of baby, so intrigued lol xx

LexiM · 27/07/2020 18:56

I've collected bits for my hospital bag but no way ready or packed. I seem to be half bothered about it but dont seem to have the energy to finish it. Much like most my baby plans! In reality I probably wont finish the hospital bag until gone 36 weeks, I just mentally cant see him arriving early even though I know its possible.

My baby is currently feet down, but got plenty of weeks for him to move before the midwife is worried about it. I know they can move right until near the end so I wont worry about it for now.

I would love to get a cleaner in but not sure it will happen or I can justify the cost. I always feel like I have to clean before they come which I know is ridiculous. The house is a mess at the moment and I have no excuse as I'm at home although I cant really hoover etc while my husband is working during the day then I'm tired in the evening. We also need to get a bathroom extractor fan that goes in the attic fixed and I want some loft boards put down so we can move some bits into the attic. Not sure if they will happen either. I am absolutely wiped out emotionally. Been to see my Dad today and I just find it so draining from the anxiety I feel about it all.

@Zaalfruit I've just been washing baby clothes as I've gone along for the past month or so. You need to find more jobs for the mothers to do if they feel left out over washing the clothes! How about some freezer meal making haha

MrsK89 · 27/07/2020 20:24

Ohh I have not even started on my bag yet. I have clothes ready but they are all sat waiting packed in a drawer haha.
I have 0 clothes for myself to take, for the last births I wore a long summer dress after having the babies, as I found it so much easier than pulling up trousers/leggings.
I've also got witch Hazel, which I've heard is good to use on the maternity pads after birth? Never tried them though.
I got my birthing ball from ebay, I think around £15. To be honest the kids use it more than me at the moment 😂

BntTowers · 27/07/2020 21:04

Asked DH to buy me chocolate when he did the weekly shop. Brought back this monstrosity, 100% cocoa is awful and bitter and a waste of money. Also definitely not satisfy the chocolate craving. May cry, his excuse was that I wouldn't eat it all at once, I'm not going to eat it at all now.

Treaclepie19 · 27/07/2020 21:07

@BntTowers that's dreadful behaviour. Id be so cross. (Like actually, I'm a chocoholic 😂) I feel for you :(

OP posts:
LexiM · 27/07/2020 21:40

@BntTowers very unacceptable excuse 😂 I would complain all night about that!! ... and the next day!

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 27/07/2020 21:46

@BntTowers aw poor you, that is such a man thing to do. I laughed when I saw it (because my partner would do the same and have the same reasoning if I didn't specify exactly what I wanted) I even showed dp and he laughed too because he knows he would do that also. 🙈 xx

Spark27 · 27/07/2020 23:02

@BntTowers, the shops are still open, send him back out. That's just a disappointment. Men!

Zaalfruit · 28/07/2020 06:42

Hey all ,

Ewww @BntTowers what is that !! That’s like cooking chocolate- I would make him get you chocolate again - I ate 3 mini milky bar last night .

I think someone suggested here I get mil and my mum to make freezer meals . It would be so hectic - my mum would insist her food is better and mil would say her son isn’t eating well. So much drama - my mums also a lot younger so I always feel my mil is super jealous of her - my mums 48 and mil is just shy of 60.

Will it be weird if I take two hand luggage to the hospital - dh has misplaced my travel bag and I don’t fancy looking for it .

Zaalfruit · 28/07/2020 06:43

@BntTowers you can make a brownie with it ? Sorry I had to look again to see what he got you . Here sending you lots of virtual hugs for that !

HerondaleDucks · 28/07/2020 08:03

Oh poor you @BntTowers... thats yucky!

I am really struggling to sleep with my hips atm. So when I was wide awake at 5am I thought eff it and I went to the gym.
Feel really good. Took it very very easy, but felt safe as they have cleaning stations everywhere and complete social distancing.
I kind of thought eff you to the PIMS nurse that keeps banging on about me being overweight and how I'm not allowed to put any weight on at all. I swear that woman is harassing me she calls so much and asks me to weigh myself. I've put 4 kg on in total so far... you'd think I'd killed the queen the way she goes on.

Indigogirl88 · 28/07/2020 08:47

I need to do freezer meals!

I had a slight panic yesterday as a woman on one of the Facebook groups gave birth this week at 30+6 eeek which I know is unusual. I've started packing the baby hospital bag and just got my bits in a tesco bag for now

Woke up a few times in the night on my back again, as i know its the only way my carpel tunnel feels a bit alleviated feeling a bit rotten today with that and a tight chest from my asthma. However 30 weeks today Grin

Zaalfruit · 28/07/2020 10:36

@Indigogirl88 I’m 30 weeks today as well!!

@HerondaleDucks I have put on over a stone in weight - to only place max 4kg Is impossible to me - you have done really well . Tell her to piss off ( can you see my mood is still off )

I suspect after birth - I will Be eating a lot of cheese toasties and nutellla bread as these are my husbands go to meals along side cereal . Even on the freezer meals I am going to tape on - instructions for him . First week Food wise we will be fine mil and mum will come round if there is no lock down .

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 28/07/2020 10:53

@HerondaleDucks I know you've mentioned a few times about your midwife being a bit of a dragon, I'm just curious because I was also classed from bmi before pregnancy as being overweight but I haven't had any talks with my midwife about this even after I've probed for info and advice. I even asked her to weigh me the other day at my 28 wk appt and she said it's not needed because they don't measure weight gain. She told me some women put on upto 5 stone and she said that's fine. I have had no other guidance from her at all as to what's healthy but 5 stone seems really excessive to me especially saying it to someone like me who's bmi was overweight before being pregnant. So mines the opposite, she's no help at all. I was in the middle of the overweight bmi section if you don't mind me asking were you around that sort of bmi or were you different, I'm just trying to work out why you're getting such a hard time and I'm not getting any advice at all xx

HerondaleDucks · 28/07/2020 11:19

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy
It's not the midwife, its this team based at the antenatal unit.
My BMI was classed at the higher end of the overweight category, so I flagged up. At the time I understood because I was considered high risk of diabetes due to my family history. But I've been tested as clear, and everyone is happy with my sugar levels and baby is doing well.
All the same I got referred to this team and this lady is like a dog after a bone!
I told her prior to getting pregnant I exercised regularly and am generally considered a gym nut. So yeah she's been on my case.
But I'm happy to email over their information pack to you if you would find it useful? Its fairly detailed. A lot of emphasis is on portion control and not eating processed foods, which I do anyway.
Maybe salisbury has an endemic of overweight mums? I would totally see it as useful if it wasn't delivered in a quite so patronising way!
Anyway private message me and I'll forward the info I have to you!

Treaclepie19 · 28/07/2020 11:27

@HerondaleDucks she sounds awful. I'd be saying thanks but no thanks to her advice!

It is strange though that she's so invested. My bmi was just on the obese category and nobody has even brought it up since.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 28/07/2020 11:39

@HerondaleDucks thanks so much for the offer of help but I don't know how to private message on here, I once tried before for something else and just gave up!! But don't worry, I was really just more wondering if there was a huge difference in our bmis before for you to be getting this lady on your case. Seems like there wasn't a huge difference, must just be different ways of dealing with things depending on the area we live in! Maybe it's something to do with the diabetes that runs in the family like you say more than your before bmi.

I do still think my midwife saying 5 stone was normal to put on seems a bit irresponsible of her though!!

I'm so tired today, think I overdid it with the decorating yesterday so paying for it today xx

MummyBearBoo · 28/07/2020 11:44

Are they supposed to do some kind of test for diabetes if you're not at risk as in I'm not overweight and have no family history of it? It's just my midwife didn't even mention it at my 28w appt -will they mention it at a later date or not do anything coz I'm not at risk?

A bit worried coz I'm measuring big for my dates and this can be a sign of diabetes can't it?

@BntTowers -it's probably got a high caffeine content too hasn't it! Men are clueless!!
