Just in the last week I've put on 2 pounds. That a stone and a half overall. Looking at pregnancy weight gain charts I was doing quite well for not gaining too much but I'm a bit worried now if I'm going to start piling it on like this. Hopefully it'll be in fits and spurts not steadily so it might even out again? I felt so uncomfortable yesterday, it was like I could feel the baby growing. @HerondaleDucks I can't believe you're being hounded over such a modest weight gain. @Indigogirl88 and @Zaalfruit happy 30 weeks!

Treaclepie19 · 28/07/2020 11:53

@MummyBearBoo no they don't do the diabetes test unless you're at risk or something is picked up during pregnancy.

In my area I'm not even having it even though classed as obese. They only do it if your bmi is over 35 here.

They have never weighed me in any of my appointments I don’t know why . I have asked before and they said we don’t really concentrate on that . So strange different areas - but I had to do the diabetics check even know my parents nor do I have it .

I don’t know how everyone is putting on increment amounts of weight . I have put on so much - up 2 dress sizes waddling away like a penguin .

Also I’m measuring on the bigger percentile - however they just ignore me when I say is the baby big maybe now that I’m 30 weeks they will listen to me ?

Treacle81 · 28/07/2020 12:18

Afternoon girls. Oh that is just crap @BntTowers my partner is opposite! I mention something, he orders it. I don't have the heart to say, ignore my cravings , I am going to be the size of a house!! I really fancied chocolate yesterday, he ordered 2 big 97g bars of Dairy Milk and 2 pieces of crispy cake whilst I was in the bath and opened a bar up and brought it to me!! Needless to say ate half in the bath then got up out my bed at like midnight and ate the rest!! First I've done that 😑 Noticing if I make myself stay up later, I'll sleep better so lie in bed till as late as I can watching TV then sleep through 😊 @Zaalfruit I have never been weighed at appts either. I am now going thru a bottle of Gaviscon a week, but it does work. Tend to have it all throughout the day now so I'm glugging it out the damn bottle! My pregnancy ball just arrived 😀 xx

ChickenDipper28 · 28/07/2020 12:25

I've put on two stone so far! My appointment is in a couple of days so we'll see what the midwife says about it or how baby is measuring.
They weighed me at my booking appointment but nothing since. Saying that though I haven't had a face to face appointment for over 3 months!

ChickenDipper28 · 28/07/2020 12:27

@BntTowers My partner is actually eating a bar of that himself now! I think it's a man thing. He can only handle 4 pieces at once 🤣

HerondaleDucks · 28/07/2020 12:40

How strange! Well I wouldn't worry about diabetes too much, they wouldn't be concerned unless you had a family history of it like me, were an older mum, obese etc. I think they would be monitoring it from your wee samples as sugar shows up in the urine.

I've been weighed every month! Must be different everywhere and I'm sure Coronavirus has made things different too.

I don't feel so bad about my 4kgs now as it seems perfectly normal!

I wish I could have Cadbury dairy milk. I want some so much now lol!!

Buzz22 · 28/07/2020 12:48

I remember someone on here who was having 2nd baby saying they dont routinely weigh you at midwife appointments. I wasnt weighed at my 28 week appointment last week.
I'm having the opposite problem with the small bump which is on the 10th centile. Midwife didnt seem concerned but under the chart that she marked it on, it says if you measure 3cm or more behind you should be sent for growth scan. Which I am?
She said I would be measured again at 32 weeks so I guess they'll decide then. DP booked us a private growth/4d scan next week anyway so that should be reassuring I hope. No idea how much weight I've put on so far. I think the recommended 2 or 2 and half stone if you had an average BMI.

I think some if you were posting that you were suffering from leg cramps in the night. I haven't experienced that but my friend suffered badly during her pregnancy and swore by drinking tonic water so that may be worth trying?

ChickenDipper28 · 28/07/2020 13:03

@Buzz22 Ooh thank you! I've had awful cramps which make me unable to sleep until about 4am! I've got tonic water, I'll give it a go 😬

LexiM · 28/07/2020 13:04

@HerondaleDucks sorry you are having such a hard time from that lady. I'm Salisbury based and luckily haven't had to go to that clinic. I was only weighed by my midwife at the beginning and she hasn't mentioned it since. I think there is some tact needed when professionals mention concerns over weight and how it should be done!!

@treacle81 I would just eat everything put in front of me if my husband was like yours. I'm such a grazer at the moment!

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 28/07/2020 13:15

@BettyBotter1 don't worry, one week a few weeks back I put on 5 pounds!! I was so shocked!! But I'm total I've put on 1 stone 8 so it must've been a big growth spurt for baby that week (or I just ate too much!) I think 1-2 pounds a week is probably quite normal.

@Zaalfruit @Indigogirl88 happy 30 weeks!! Soon to be on the single digit weekly countdown!!

@Treaclepie19 @MummyBearBoo here they only do it if bmi over 30 I think at beginning

@Zaalfruit I'm also bigger percentile think I'm about 70, I'm not too worried as still in the lines

@Treacle81 oh that sounds like heaven being brought chocolate to you while in the bath!!

Indigogirl88 · 28/07/2020 13:27

Hey all I forgot to mention I text my midwife on Friday due to my feet ballooning and it took her over a day to reply! Useless! I might as well just rung the hospital

Zaalfruit · 28/07/2020 14:29

I don’t even have a midwife number lol - no focus at all because of cornavirus - every time I have been seen by someone different and they just ignore me .

I wish my husband would get me stuff - man he always moans I’m eating junk.

Zaalfruit · 28/07/2020 14:30

@Indigogirl88 what did she say? I hope you are alright now .

Buzz22 · 28/07/2020 14:44

@Zaalfruit I dont have a number for a midwife either. My 28 week appointment seemed so rushed. I didnt get to hear heartbeat. It was pretty much in, take some bloods, quick tape measure and then out.
I felt pretty well looked after at the beginning when I was seeing the consultant regularly. But everyone seemed to just dissapear and not be in contact.

@Indigogirl88 hope everything is ok? I think you can ring maternity triage for things like that. They can at least give you some advice straight away and decide if you need to be seen.

Zaalfruit · 28/07/2020 14:52

@Buzz22 I am meant to be consultant led but I think I have just leading everything by myself . Yep same it’s all rush rush - It was really silly she made me sit really far and then came really close to measure the belly . This is the appointment where she was really rude to me about breast feeding. Going on and on about the benefits - not understanding that I might not be able to .

@Indigogirl88 please just go in next time - my brother works for the nhs and said just go when you are pregnant anytime you feel
Something is wrong . They have to see you .

HerondaleDucks · 28/07/2020 15:16

Its such a shame that everyone is rushing appointments and not listening. This whole covid thing is ruining so many experiences.

CharlieBalf · 28/07/2020 15:36

Hi all, sorry to hear that some appointments are getting rushed and pushy midwives... Its really not helpful is it?

I'm in Herefordshire and they seem to be pretty good at personalised service here (maybe cause of the lower population?) but they are awfully strict at the hospital--no gender reveal Purley medical based scans and the sonograpber I usually have is always really stern.
I also ha e never been weighed and my bmi at booking was 33 so would have expected them to keep an eye on my weight gain but they never mention it. Only weighed mysf a couple of times in the past 7 months as I just don't want to stress about it but I e put on about 20lbs 😬
No one's mentioned diabetes tests, they all srm very relaxed about it AND I'm consultant led due to age and ivf pregnancy.

It's all so dependent on postcode this pregnancy lark isn't it? We got referred for IVF treatment from our consultant but Hereford doesn't have contracts so we're still waiting on a decision, for our single round, over a year and half later!

Six miles east in Worcester couples are entitled to two rounds. We went private to save the heartache but its cleared us out funds wise.

Sorry about the rant! Obs needed to get it off my chest!

Zaalfruit · 28/07/2020 16:19

@CharlieBalf ivf lottery is real my aunty in Southampton got two rounds - here where I live in London - no chance . If I didn’t fall pregnant we were looking at the ivf route and it would have meant that after three months if I had baby I would have to go back to full time work - maybe even sell the house and move back in my parents or in laws . Something I did not want to do. I know people who have taken out loans - so heart breaking and unfair IVF lottery . You are so entitled to your rant.

blankiesandunicorns · 28/07/2020 17:52

Does anyone else get pressure when they go for a walk? I can't seem to walk the dog any distance without needing a wee badly, which is annoying because I love my long walks twice a day and it's impossible!

Indigogirl88 · 28/07/2020 18:00

Aw thanks yeah im all good now, ill just ring in the future as can't be bothered with that again!

Its definitely a postcode lottery ivf and the whole journey

Quiffy · 28/07/2020 18:02

@BntTowers that chocolate is brutal. I love dark chocolate and was really into when I did keto but that brand was too much alone. It is nice mixed with double cream to make a kind of ganache truffle though.

@HerondaleDucks I’m sorry that team are hounding you’re. It seems way over the top. I had a high bmi at check in and had nothing like that. The last thing you want is to be patronised atm.

Woo on the 30 weeks to those this week. I can’t believe in 7 weeks we will have full term babies that could show up.

My feet are still really swollen. They can be okayish in morning and get really bad over the day. I’m a 7 but I’ve had to buy men’s size 10 flip flops as I’m struggling to get anything on (and even they’re tight!) My legs and feet also go a bit numb, getting to stage I might have to call midwife 😩 generally feeling like a sore lumpy whale that can’t get off the sofa atm

babymama09 · 28/07/2020 18:21

Hi ladies I am sorry I haven't been on to update you are and hope you are doing well. Baby wriggles is still wriggling I am currently 27 weeks and 5 days I have a scan tomorrow to check the fluid levels which did not change last week, as far as I am aware she is still growing and her organs are developing normally. I am huge and uncomfortable but as long as she's okay I will get through it. I haven't read your previous posts so don't know what has been going on.. But I do hope your all safe and well xx

CouscousEvaporator · 28/07/2020 18:52

Hi all
That chocolate made me laugh. I’d send DH out for more if he bought that back 😂

@HerondaleDucks your care seems to be really shaming and aggressive through your whole pregnancy. Any chance you can change midwife/team?? I also haven’t been weighed once.

I asked them to at one point as I’ve only put on 2lbs by my (faulty?!) scales but they still didn’t! They said they didn’t care how much or little I put on!

@quiffy have you tried compression stockings? That amount of swelling sounds really uncomfortable 😔

@babymama09 nice to hear from you and I’m glad everything seems to be going ok and baby is a wriggler ❤️

Anyone else breathless? Crikey sometimes I just struggle sitting down 😂

Spark27 · 28/07/2020 19:06

Just trying to catch up on all the messages today. Sorry you're being hounded @Herondaleducks, and 4kgs sounds like nothing at the moment. We dont need to be routinely weighed during pregnancy, unless they think there might be an issue. I told the mw my weight at my booking in appt, then I asked to stand on her scales at my 28w appt just because I was interested (and then just stood on them, didnt really give her the chance to respond) but she didnt note it down or anything. I think I've put on just over a stone at the moment, but when I was measured at 28+4 bump was measuring at 27w and was on the 10th centile. I wont see the mw now til I'm 34+4. I have got a private scan next tuesday so am intrigued what they say then about size and also how baby is lying.
