@Rachael321 ahhh congratulations!!! The first baby for our little tribe - you've done amazingly!!! Enjoy every moment 💕💕💕

SammiLou2312 · 21/08/2020 19:51

Congratulations on your healthy baby boy @Rachael321!!! It sounds like you had a tough time of it. Please don't feel bad that you ended up having to have a section...you tried bloody hard to deliver naturally and it sounds like you wouldn't have really been able to deliver easily given they had to use forceps during section. At the end of the day, you did exactly what was needed to get your baby boy here safe and sound. So happy for you!
@MOGMOGMOG85 congrats on 25 weeks. I found it started to go quicker from then on, although these last 2 weeks have dragged so much lol! Part of me can't wait for my induction now, so excited to meet baby girl...but part of me is also terrified and questioning how I am going to do it. Still have moments of not believing it's actually happening too which is stupid I know but I think I'll still struggle with that until I am bringing her home with me haha!

To anyone who is struggling with scans, my advice would be to tell your sonographer that you have anxiety...I did this with every scan and explained why. I tend to find that sonographer made more of an effort to show me the healthy heartbeat straight away to settle my nerves and took more time to explain stuff so I could call myself better. Sending hugs to anyone who needs them, hope you are all doing ok xx

AnxiousLady1 · 21/08/2020 20:06

Massive congratulations @Rachael321 on your amazing baby boy!! Realised you held on to the gender surprise as well so you must be super excited. Sounds like a tough labour for sure, but the main thing is that baby boy made it here safely and you're okay now too. Enjoy every minute of getting to know him. You've done amazing! Xx

Treaclepie19 · 21/08/2020 20:58

Congratulations @Rachael321! I posted a big reply but it didn't work. Well done you though, sounds like you had a really tough time.

tmc14 · 21/08/2020 21:25

@footprintsintheslow fab scan photo. Enjoy the shopping!

@MOGMOGMOG85 my baby has just turned from transverse to head down at 32 weeks... hoping she stays that way! Definitely read up about breastfeeding before hand and find your local support people... I really wish I had the first time as I really struggled with feeding and it was a bit chaotic in the early days figuring out where to get help.

@hagster sending a hug. These dates will never leave us, and being self indulgent isn’t a bad thing at all, you should be looking after yourself and doing things that help you and help you remember your baby.

Same to you @marmitecheesetoast do the things you need to protect your mental health. Really pleased you’re getting the support.

@juniperandrose totally understand that trigger, how awful for you. Glad you had a good cry, I find it so helpful to cry sometimes!

@anon20something sending you a massive hug. As for the others struggling this week, do what you need, feel what you feel, you’ll never forget Lily, it’s ok to share your thoughts between her and your baby boy x

@Rachael321 congratulations! Sounds like you had a real tough ride of it, so pleased both you & baby are safe and ok. Sounds like you gave it everything and the decision wasn’t yours to make in the end. It’s their job to step in when the heart rates aren’t looking ideal! You sound like a warrior woman!

turquoisebaby · 21/08/2020 22:01

@rachael321 A massive congratulations on your little boy!!!!! Enjoy every minute x

FloDaffodil · 21/08/2020 22:41

Congratulations @Rachael321!! Hope you recover quickly from what sounds like quite an ordeal so you can get home with your baby boy!

Anon20something · 21/08/2020 22:59

Congratulations @Rachael321❤️

Whiffle77 · 22/08/2020 06:39

Oh @Rachael321 huge congratulations, so pleased tl hear your news! Sounds like a rough few days but very worth it in the end! These babies will come out however they want, i don't think we have much choice in the matter! So pleased to hear you are both safe and well - enjoy this time with him!

Hagster · 22/08/2020 07:58

@Rachael321 huge congratulations! Sorry it was such a rollercoaster at the end there but I have to echo what the others have said - please try to challenge those guilty feelings, it sounds like it was incredibly tough and you can't blame yourself for things sometimes not being quite right. I'm just so excited for you having that special time now with your baby boy.

Thanks @tmc14 ♥️

Littlegoth · 22/08/2020 09:10

@Rachael321 congratulations! Enjoy those lovely cuddles and hoping you have a speedy recovery xx

marmitecheesetoast · 22/08/2020 13:00

@Rachael321 Massive congratulations on your baby boy! Enjoy those magical precious newborn cuddles. And definitely don't beat yourself up over how the labour ended up, my DD was back to back and looking skywards too and ended in emergency forceps delivery - think it would be pretty tough to push them out in such an awkward position. You did an amazing job!

Thanks everyone so much for your kind words, brought tears to my eyes! I've just started watching Downton Abbey again from the very beginning which is proving quite a good distraction at the moment.

@JuniperAndRose yes I've not much else on on the day of the scan other than counselling in the morning. I agree just being able to go for a walk or something is helpful. I'm still on maternity leave for DS (the most f*cked mat leave ever Sad) and DD will be at nursery so I'm quite lucky in that regard.
That sounds really difficult with your scan, I'm so sorry you went through that I can imagine how triggering it must have been. We are just on such high alert aren't we after what we've been through.

Avocuddles · 23/08/2020 11:34

@Rachael321 i'm so happy for you!!! I'm sorry it wasn't the birth you had hoped for but hope you and your little boy are recovering well and enjoying lots of cuddles. As you say all that matters now is that you are both well, and you have a lifetime of wonderful memories to look forward to.

@tmc14 glad your baby has turned, hope she stays there now....

@MOGMOGMOG85 25 weeks is definitely a turning point, I found everything sped by from then onwards. 35 for me today!

Can't believe it's been 10 weeks since I last updated! Congratulations @Rachael321 on your baby boy, I hope you're both recovering well and enjoying lots of cuddles 💕

Just wondering when everyone started buying their cots, prams...anything really? I keep putting everything off thinking that if I order anything that I'm somehow jinxing things 😖 I'm even struggling with telling people outside of my immediate family/friends circle but they're obviously noticing and commenting as my bump is now huge! Really struggling to find a balance at the moment between being cautious but organised! Is there a magic number of weeks?

Hope everyone else is doing ok? Will try and catch up a bit more on what's been happening and looking forward to seeing news of more new arrivals soon 😊

@tmc14 the last couple of mornings I’ve woken up with a mouth like the Sahara, despite drinking a pint of water overnight. I have GD too and blood sugars have been all over. Started leaking colostrum yesterday so maybe this is why?

@MrsG3 I started actually buying at 25 weeks ish, although I’d been ‘window shopping’ for weeks. I put up the pram and snuzpod right away, love looking at them and for me it’s been a little bit of positive thinking xx

Knotemma · 24/08/2020 08:54

@MrsG3 lovely to hear from you! I bought our pram and travel cot after my 20 weeks scan and that was the right time for me, but all my losses were early and I'm really not superstitious, so it just felt right. I now have an overflowing baby room, as we've been gifted a lot second hand from friends and family, which is wonderful. Maybe buy something small, a sleep suit or something like that to see how you feel? I'm a big believer in testing the waters like that. I don't think there's a magical number of weeks, but I am definitely at almost 36 weeks officially more excited than anxious. I know that won't be the case for everyone. I'm also getting lots of the bump comments, because I've started to see a few people at a social distance as things have started to calm down a bit. I'm definitely feeling enormous and a lot like a tortoise on its back when trying to get out of chairs/sofas/cars etc these days!

AnxiousLady1 · 24/08/2020 09:29

Happy Monday Ladies!

Hope you hvae enjoyed your first weekend with the little one @Rachael321.

@MrsG3 I have bought a few small bits (sleepers and vests and some blankets), but none of the big ticket items we need just yet. I have done a lot of window shopping and know what we want, but our main issue at the moment is lack of space to put it. We have had to do a fair amount of rennovation on our apartment in the last couple of months (new windows throughout, shutters throughout, plastering several rooms, painting, and new carpets). The spare room will be the nursery and actually needed the most work due to being an old property with damp issues that reared their head over the winter. This is all resolved now thankfully. Obviously with COVID there was little to no work happening. But painting is almost done now and then we just need to get the carpets laid. Then I'll be able to start buing things/filling the nursery.

Updating my weeks!

Welcome back @MrsG3! We were very tentative until buying things about 3 weeks ago. It wasn't a conscious choice to do it then, more we just felt 'ready' then. In reality it all arrived rather quickly so I think it's ok to do it whenever feels right for you.

@MrsG3 I'm still feeling very nervous at 35 weeks so definitely don't think there's a magic stage at which everything feels 'ok' even when your loss(es) have been relatively early on - mine were both at 7-8 weeks but I still don't think I'll believe that a baby is coming until she's actually here and safe and well....

We started buying things after 24 weeks, and started assembling furniture etc around 28-30. Be mindful that some items can have quite long delivery times - our car seat for example took 6-8 weeks to arrive!

@Knotemma we've also been fortunate enough to have been given a lot of items by friends - plus side of being slightly older than some and the last of my friends to get to this stage! My sister in law brought round almost 300 size 1 nappies along with a bag of mostly unworn newborn clothes on Saturday so think we can safely say we're sorted on that front for a while!!!

Just had my 35 week growth scan, waiting for the clinic appt now. Everything looked good, but she said the fluid looked a little low and she’s referred me to Fetal medicine. I’m trying to hold it together while I wait but I’m completely freaking out. I never had any good scans or news at Fetal medicine 😢 absolutely terrified.

Oh @anon20something I'm so sorry, it's so hard when it's not 100% ok isn't it, your mind just goes straight to the worst. I do know someone who had lower fluid levels and had a healthy baby, they just had increased monitoring for a few weeks and eventually they were induced but only a couple of weeks early. Not that you might need that, you might not even need more monitoring, but just wanted to offer a perspective where low fluid resulted in a healthy happy baby. That said I know it's so hard to not worry. Look after yourself and hope you get to speak to them soon ❤️
