Hope you got home OK @Knotemma and are all sorted out, good news that they weren't contractions at least but an evening at the hospital is not what you want!
Sorry work has been wild @Avocuddles but so little left to go for you now, that's exciting! I tend to read whatever kindle recommends for me so im never any good at recommending them on to others...i follow a few book clubs on Instagram though which I've enjoyed. Reese witherspoon has one and I've enjoyed all the ones recommended on that.

Knotemma · 07/08/2020 08:59

Got home at about midnight, grabbed something to eat and my reflux kicked off 🙈 lesson learned, always carry snacks! Feeling ok this morning, still uncomfortable and obviously tired, but doing ok. Planning a fairly half hearted day at work, basically just going to do essential meetings.

Hope everyone copes ok in the heat, it's already very muggy here in the north east

Avocuddles · 07/08/2020 13:23

Decided to take advantage of the heat and get all of the baby clothes washed. Cutest washing line ever!

@Avocuddles that's adorable!

AnxiousLady1 · 07/08/2020 13:55

@Avocuddles That is so cute!!!

My DH is planning to paint the nursery this weekend (not sure how that will work in this heat). But I've held off on buying most things until that's painted and re-carpeted as our home is too small to store things anywhere else.

I did just buy a "trial them all" cloth nappy kit though so I'm happy about that. I'm planning to use disposable for the first month and then trial the cloth to see what works best before investing in a whole system.

footprintsintheslow · 07/08/2020 20:11

@Avocuddles that is TOO cute

SammiLou2312 · 07/08/2020 20:31

@Knotemma glad you got home ok, hope you have been able to take it somewhat easy today and feel a bit better x

@Avocuddles super cute...glad to know it's not just me that took photos of the washing line full of cute baby clothes haha!

MOGMOGMOG85 · 08/08/2020 07:07

Ah glad everyone is doing ok @Knotemma glad you got out and are feeling more reassured!

@tmc14 hope you get some answers soon - nothing worse than being left in limbo!

@AnxiousLady1 I was up last night killing mosquitos - horrible little beasts, and I'm not even allergic too them. Sounds horrible, I hope the heat abates soon for all of us although I suspect it will be a few weeks yet... I napped yesterday afternoon and woke up woozy from the heat, it worried me a bit...

@Whiffle77 I hope it's just cm or urine, but best to be on the safe side! I have had the occasional sensation like a little rush and then my pants are a bit damp but nothing too concerning. I do think the heat isn't helping! xx

I had my first leg cramp last night. I'd known it was coming as I've been having twinges for a week or so. I leapt out of bed immediately and was huffing and groaning because it was so painful, poor boyfriend was quite alarmed as it probably sounded like I'd gone into labour or something! I had a look this morning and I'm not sure there's much I can do about them - keep taking my vitamins and drink plenty of water as well as stretching and gentle exercise. I used to get them ridiculously badly as a teenager when I was obsessed with cycling, hopefully it won't be as bad as that.

I'm up at the in-laws house hunting, although we haven't had an offer on ours yet so feels a little futile. But at least I'm avoiding Kent in this heat! Can't wait to move over West as it's just that bit cooler over here. Yesterday was awful though :( feeling for all you in your last trimester, I'm just feeling lucky that I don't go into third trimester for another month and hoping it will be starting to cool a little by then xxx

MOGMOGMOG85 · 08/08/2020 07:08

@Avocuddles that makes me feel a bit teary :') so beautiful! I spent my last week of furlough driving round and collecting a total of 100 baby clothing items to last me the first 6 months, I have now organised them and I feel so much happier knowing they are there and I have prepared at least one thing. Occasionally I pick a bit out and carry it around like a crazy woman haha! xxx

Shefliesonherownwings · 08/08/2020 14:06

Hi all, how are you all doing in the heat? We are v v lucky that we have an air con unit here so we're pretty cool. It was DH's birthday yesterday so we were seeing a few people and then we went out for dinner for the first time since December. It was actually really nice, although a bit strange with a one way system to the toilets and far less people. DH had a nice day though which was the main thing.

However I then had the worst dream last night. I dreamt I went into hospital for monitoring due to reduced movements and when they put me on the CTG they couldn't find the heartbeat. It's really freaked me out. I think because we were on the go yesterday and it was hot, I didn't pay as much attention to movements and baby was a little quieter although I still felt movements and he was fine last night and today. But maybe subconsciously my anxiety kicked in and then I had this awful dream. I've been really teary today and now a bit paranoid about movements although as I say he seems fine today. Honestly as much as I hate wishing the time away, I wish I could just click my fingers and have him here safely now. Anyway I just needed to vent to you lovelies as I know you'll understand this rollercoaster of emotions. We've no plans so I'm going to just try to relax today.

SammiLou2312 · 08/08/2020 14:38

@Shefliesonherownwings bless ya... Pregnancy dreams can be horrendous! Try not to let it worry you too much. If you are feeling your baby move last night / today there should be nothing to worry about (easier said than done I know). Try to take it steady xx

tmc14 · 08/08/2020 14:54

@Avocuddles gorgeous photo... I need to wash all my newborn stuff, it’s been sat in a box for nearly 3 years...

@Shefliesonherownwings ah, I feel your pain on the dreams. My head has decided to concentrate on DS, I have dreams of him dying at least 3 times a week, it’s so draining. Hopefully yours is a one off.

Sooooo hot here... and DS fell asleep on way back from the allotment so I’m now sat in the car waiting for him to have his snooze! Melting. Started packing my hospital bag this morning, figured just in case I do have placenta previa confirmed I need to be ready just in case she needs to come early! Will wash the baby clothes tomorrow and put everything in our bedroom ready to go. Feels suddenly scarily close. I’m doing a course that I’m desperately trying to finish by the end of August... but behind but just working every evening so fingers crossed that’ll be ticked off before things start happening.

Hope everyone is doing ok, envious of anyone with air con!!

tmc14 · 08/08/2020 14:55

@MOGMOGMOG85 oh your post reminded me I got leg cramps most nights with DS! Such a nightmare. Haven’t had anything so far with this one... don’t know what causes it, baby girl is lying transverse so maybe that doesn’t result in cramping? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hope you don’t continue with them...

TunnocksTcake · 08/08/2020 15:41

Hi all, I hope everyone is coping ok in this heat, it's very muggy here but luckily have nothing to do today and dh is at cricket so I can just slob out in my pants! 😂
We've had a week visiting the in laws in Leicestershire (went nowhere near the centre but still felt weird to be close to a covid hotspot!) and we got to meet SILs baby who was born early July. Dh got some practice holding her and changing her nappy which was just heartwarming! He's going to be such an amazing dad I can't wait!
Before we went I had a midwife appt on Monday and bump measurements have gone from 90th percentile to 97th so I am having a gd test on Monday. Not looking forward to that at all as I hate needles and feel faint without food at the best of times! The larger bump is the only reason they are testing, I have no other symptoms, so I'm hoping that's not the case, but would rather know either way.

Has anyone had painful fingers? They are pretty swollen and they hurt awfully, feels like there's string tied round the bottom of them cutting off circulation. Midwife wasn't concerned on Monday and just put it down to extra blood. I'm very glad I'm not typing at work at the moment that would be very painful!

TunnocksTcake · 08/08/2020 15:43

@MOGMOGMOG85 @tmc14 I've had a couple of nights where I've had awful leg cramp, think I scared dh the first time too but he actually used to get it himself so knew exactly what to do! It's awful, I fully sympathise, especially when you are literally woken up by the pain! 😥

AnxiousLady1 · 08/08/2020 16:07

@TunnocksTcake I've my test for GD tomorrow. No history of diabetes but think I'm automatically getting it as I'm 35 🤷‍♀️ Part I'm dreading the most is how hungry I'm going to be by the time it's finished.

TunnocksTcake · 08/08/2020 16:39

@AnxiousLady1 ooh hope yours goes ok too! Yes that's what I'm most concerned about especially as it's going to be boiling (if stormy) here. I've been told I'm allowed to go home between and rest but a bit concerned I might be feeling too faint to drive back for the second test! Honestly I'm such a wimp 🙄

AnxiousLady1 · 08/08/2020 16:45

@TunnocksTcake Gosh I wasn't told that at all. I wonder if I can. Luckily I live about a 5 min drive from the hospital but I'm sure I could rope DH in to collecting me if walking is off the cards.

There's a part of me that's worried the amount of sugar I've consumed thus far in this pregnancy will have given me diabetes 🙈

SammiLou2312 · 08/08/2020 18:40

@AnxiousLady1 I was diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks. From what I was told it was nothing to do with what I had eaten etc. It's to do with the placenta. Now if you do have it you will need to watch what you eat more and they will monitor you closer but it's not the end of the world. I have an absolute fear of needles but have managed to get used to testing my bloods 4 times a day. I think the main difficulty I have had is getting used to what I can eat without having a major impact on my blood sugars now...I'm a big potato and pasta fan and carbs can cause issues if you have too many but hospital have been really helpful with advice etc. Hopefully your tests will come back clear but please don't be too disheartened if they come back to say you have GD. It is manageable x

footprintsintheslow · 08/08/2020 18:44

How do they test for GD? Do you have to starve yourselves?

SammiLou2312 · 08/08/2020 18:51

@footprintsintheslow it depends where you are atm. I just had a blood test as they stopped the other tests being done in hospital due to covid but some places are starting to do the hospital tests again. This involves fasting (so no food or drink) for a period of time, having a blood test, then drinking a really sugary drink and another blood test a bit of time after the drink to test blood sugar levels again

TunnocksTcake · 08/08/2020 18:56

Thanks @SammiLou2312 that's good to know. It feels a bit late to be getting tested for it to me @33 weeks but I'm all for extra monitoring so I'm not too bothered it's just the blood tests I'm not keen on, though I've got loads better being pregnant and having them so often. I used to pass out every time I had one after a horrible experience as a teenager where they couldn't find a vein and just kept stabbing 🙄. The nurse who does it at the midwives is good and hasn't had an issue with me yet but I'm always told I have 'bad' veins.

@footprintsintheslow it's a fasted blood test at 9am then you have a sugary drink and have to wait 2 hours for another blood test, so you can't eat anything from midnight the night before until after the second blood test @ around 11:30am which is unheard of for me! 😂

SammiLou2312 · 08/08/2020 19:00

@TunnocksTcake I get the whole bad veins thing...mine are horrendous but they will hopefully be able to find one for you. Fingers crossed your results come back clear but if not, feel free to let me know and I can try help with stuff I've figured out lol
