@marmitecheesetoast thank you for sharing. I’m pleased yours ‘moved’ quite late. There’s nothing on my notes to say whether it’s complete or partial, just says ‘previa’. And the Dr seemed really surprised it wasn’t picked up earlier, but then didn’t say much else. Think that’s what’s got me stressed, it could be really minor and unlikely to cause an issue at all, or complete and I’m not supposed to pick up my son, but I’ve no idea where on that scale I currently lie. I’ve managed to get an appointment with the Dr for Monday to ask for more details... I think waiting 4 weeks to get clarification on what type mine is will drive me mad!

SammiLou2312 · 06/08/2020 14:18

@tmc14 glad you've managed to get an appointment. Hopefully doc can give you some more information and help put your mind at rest x

Knotemma · 06/08/2020 14:48

So I've ended up on the phone to PAU this afternoon, Braxton Hicks are getting worse and longer and getting some discomfort with them, but no pattern to them. Been told to take two paracetamol and a warm bath and if that doesn't help call back by 4pm... goblin is moving about well and kicking me though, so that's good news. I definitely feel a bit more relaxed now I'm in the bath, but that's pretty normal for me 😂. Guess we'll just wait and see, keeping my legs crossed because 33 weeks is too soon!

marmitecheesetoast · 06/08/2020 15:39

Glad you got an appointment @tmc14 hopefully it puts your mind at rest.

@Knotemma glad the bath has helped relax you a little, how are you feeling now?

Knotemma · 06/08/2020 15:44

@marmitecheesetoast I'm not sure 😂 just about to get out, still having the Braxton Hicks, seem to be less uncomfortable though. Going to get out and see how I feel in the next half hour or so. Honestly I've wound myself up a touch, so will probably push to go in and get checked for peace of mind, I don't want to end up being there at midnight. Good news is that I'm still getting lots of kicks and movement, so goblin seems happy enough.

marmitecheesetoast · 06/08/2020 15:49

@Knotemma that’s reassuring you’re getting lots of movement. Yes I’d definitely go in if in any doubt, to get some reassurance and as you say avoid going in at midnight!

Whiffle77 · 06/08/2020 16:35

Oh gosh @Knotemma what a stressful afternoon! Definitly go in for some reassurance if you are worried, fingers crossed the goblin is still tucked up in there with no intent of coming out!

I'm stressing myself out today as I feel like i am constantly leaking (apologies for no better way of putting it...) so have spent ages googling about amniotic fluid leaking etc. Not helpful. I'm sure its not that but I'm going to keep an eye on it anyway. Not sure if anyone else has felt similar?

Knotemma · 06/08/2020 16:42

@Whiffle77 I can definitely relate to feeling constantly damp. This warm weather really isn't helping either. I haven't had any trickling or gushing though, so pretty sure waters are intact. If your not sure though I'd ring, no harm in it x

I've just spoken to PAU again as back to the same as soon as I got out of the bath, I've got an appointment for 7 to go and have an "MOT", some monitoring, a test to see if I'm likely to go into labor in the next 2 weeks and a bit of reassurance. Glad I've been taken seriously, mostly just uncomfortable, but with the usual pregnancy after loss anxiousness I'm glad to get checked out.

Whiffle77 · 06/08/2020 16:48

Thanks @Knotemma there has def been no gushing but maybe trickling, its so hard to tell...i will keep an eye on it and give them a call maybe like you say. Good luck later on tonight! Glad they have arranged to see you, some reassurance will definitely help!

tmc14 · 06/08/2020 17:46

@Knotemma oh wow, glad they’re checking you out. Fingers crossed the goblin stays put for a while!

@Whiffle77 to be fair I’m just sweaty/grim all over so not sure I’d notice anything specific from my bits 🤣 definitely call and ask the midwife if you’re worried though. As someone said up thread, my nhs admin has been worse than awful but I’ve very much appreciated all the care and support the medical staff have shown me.

marmitecheesetoast · 06/08/2020 18:01

I’m glad you’re going in get checked out @Knotemma

@Whiffle77 it might be worth getting checked, I had a hind water leak with DD. They can do some sort of test to see whether you’re leaking any waters (something to do with a speculum and acidity of the fluid near your cervix from vague recollection)

AnxiousLady1 · 06/08/2020 18:20

@Whiffle77 I get this and just assumed it's CM. I mean there's enough to frequently make me wonder if I've just peed myself a little, but not enough that's it's made it passed the underwear down my leg. Sorry if that's TMI! 🙈

Whiffle77 · 06/08/2020 18:49

Haha yes @tmc14 I did think maybe I am just a bit sweaty in this muggy weather!! Thanks @marmitecheesetoast I'm going to monitor it a bit and then ring if I'm worried, I can never tell if I'm just being neurotic or not! You notice so much more about your body when pregnant which would usually pass you by which doesnt help!
No thanks @AnxiousLady1 thats mainly how I'm feeling!! Ive had it every so often throughout but today seems particularly bad...

Treaclepie19 · 06/08/2020 20:06

@Whiffle77 I've had that feeling regularly and its either wee or sweat. I think sweat.
The hospital said to put a pad on and see how it went when I rang.

Whiffle77 · 06/08/2020 20:19

Thanks @Treaclepie19 that's what I've done Smile I think from having that on it seems it feels more than it actually is, if that makes sense.

Treaclepie19 · 06/08/2020 20:22

@Whiffle77 Yeah I think that's really common. I didn't even notice it on the pad but my pants were soaked. Always ring if you're concerned though, they definitely won't mind.

Knotemma · 06/08/2020 20:49

Well whatever is going on they aren't contractions, been hooked up to the monitor for about half an hour (PAU was mega busy so didn't get into a room until 8) Just waiting to see what the doctor says, but sitting hear with the heartbeat thumping away is lovely, even if the ward is hotter the heck!

Treaclepie19 · 06/08/2020 21:00

So sorry @knotemma I hadnt read back.
Sounds similar to my scenario. The monitor didn't pick up contractions, though it had calmed down by the time I got seen. They didn't do a swab in the end to check for early labour though which I was a bit annoyed about. Especially now its carried on for days.

I hope they can come to a conclusion for you. They just told me it's because I have a really active baby.

Knotemma · 06/08/2020 21:09

@Treaclepie19 I haven't been swabbed either, haven't spoken to the doctor yet but get the impression that the contractions/tightening is so gentle (!?) That they aren't "palpable" in the right place. Everything in feeling is down low, but to be pickup up on the monitor it has to start higher than they are. Honestly I'm feeling much more relaxed knowing that the goblin is definitely ok, because that was my biggest worry, even though I had decent movement. I guess this is just the next stage of pregnancy discomfort, but honestly I wouldn't have settled without getting checked and they've been lovely, even though it's taken a lot longer than the 20 minutes they suggested on the phone. Glad I've got the Kindle app!

Treaclepie19 · 06/08/2020 21:13

@Knotemma ah I see. Mine happen low down and high up but nothing showed up. Made me feel like a right drama llama. At home they were every 10 mins and increasingly uncomfortable. So odd.
I'm glad all is okay. Its always reassuring hearing their heartbeat isn't it.
I was the same with the kindle app, ended up being there from about half 11 til half 2 in the morning 😴😴
Hopefully you'll be home and comfortable soon.

Knotemma · 06/08/2020 21:16

I need to make sure I've got plenty downloaded to read, this experience has taught me that the signal in the hospital is pants, fine for a text update like this or a WhatsApp, but trying to download a new book took way too long 😂

Avocuddles · 06/08/2020 22:36

Hi all, sorry I haven't been around much, work has been mega busy this week, I'm definitely counting down the days until Mat leave now (35!) whilst also wondering how I'll get everything done in time.

@Knotemma glad you've been given a thorough check over, the few times I've been in the MAU I've always found it really reassuring seeing the monitor working and knowing that there's nothing obvious untoward. I hope you're on your way home soon and you don't have any more visits until baby is fully cooked and ready to arrive!
I'm another big fan of the kindle app and have invested in lots of books recently that I've no idea when I'll get round to reading. If anyone has any good book recommendations they're always welcome, assuming that baby doesn't make an early appearance I plan to spend the couple of weeks between finishing work and the due date curled up with a good book....

@Whiffle77 I've definitely noticed a few incidents of sweaty crotch over the past couple of weeks and it's always a bit disconcerting. When it happens I tend to pop on a pantyliner to see if anything more appears and touch wood so far I think it's just been sweat or 'normal' discharge. I also get paranoid (tmi alert) when I wipe and it's yellow, but realised that's it just a sign that I'm not drinking enough water!

@tmc14 I hope everything is ok with your placenta and understand why it must be nervewracking to receive that news. Hope that you don't have to wait too long to speak to the dr and get some reassurance.

@SammiLou2312 I'm glad your scan went well and baby is definitely a decent size! The photo was very cute....

@Rachael321 wow 38 weeks! I'm looking forward to our first birth update very soon.

@marmitecheesetoast so glad your scan went well, know it's still early days but seeing the heartbeat is a positive step on the journey to your rainbow.

@Anon20something mine measured 2lb 7oz at 28 weeks, my next scan is on Monday so am intrigued to see how big she is now. It definitely feels like she's been doing plenty of growing in the past few weeks as her movements have progressed from 'ah that's nice' to 'ouch my poor ribs!'.

Apologies to those i haven't mentioned, there's been a lot to catch up on! Hope you are all well and that the heat tomorrow isn't too bad (though I know it's nothing compared to what you have to contend with @SunStruck!)

@Avocuddles still here! Doctor has been called into theatre so could be a while. I'm ok, if a bit peckish, but poor DH has been sitting in the car since 7... he was already completely up a height about coming too, so I would imagine he's not too impressed, luckily I've been able to keep him up to date by text

AnxiousLady1 · 06/08/2020 22:49

Gosh the anxiety inducing symptoms of pregnancy really do ramp up once you start getting into that final stretch don't they! I'm going to be a basket case by time I get to 30 weeks I reckon.

I'm struggling massively with the heat already and we haven't even got to the worst of it in London. 🙈 I'm also quite terrified of getting a mosquito bite as this happens me every single summer and I'm severely allergic (varying from fevers, swollen limbs, antibiotics etc). Worried that something like that would effect the baby so I'm afraid to open windows, sleep above the blankets etc. Which is far from ideal when pregnant in this heat. 😟

Avocuddles · 07/08/2020 07:41

@Knotemma hope you got home at a reasonable hour. My three trips to the MAU have all lasted at least four hours due to waiting for a doctor to become available, last time round I sent DH home and got a taxi to save him having to come back out at 3am, at least we're used to driving and parking at the hospital at all times of day now!

@AnxiousLady1 everyone is different but the symptoms have definitely been worse for me from about 25 weeks onwards, probably my reward for not being at all sick in the first trimester..... Had an awful nights sleep here due to the heat in spite of all the windows being open! Thankfully the weather in Yorkshire isn't supposed to be quite as hot as down south this weekend but it's still uncomfortably muggy Sad
