Evening all!
@footprintsintheslow so glad you're feeling so much more positive. Your new consultant sounds great, as does the prospect of being in a brand new hospital.
@Knotemma I still really struggle to comprehend that we might be bringing a baby home quite soon, I have to keep repeating the 'today I'm pregnant' mantra even though I'm now 32 weeks!
@JuniperAndRose am so glad your scan went well and was a positive experience. My parents are of the 'polite chit chat over a cup of tea' variety too when it comes to my pregnancy losses though nowhere the extent of yours. Im the case of my mum and dad I don't think it's that they don't care, just that it's not something they themselves ever experienced and they don't really know what to say. I think they're excited by the thought of the baby but not super gushing over it, possibly because they can see that I myself am also pretty nervous about everything. I hope your parents start to show you a little more empathy and can start to share in your happy news.
It's not ridiculous to think you're tempting fate, I feel that way every day and whilst part of me loves seeing the nursery now set up in our spare room, another part of me feels very nervous each time I go in there. I'm also not comfortable committing to a name for our daughter yet as again feel like it's somehow tempting fate to do so even though I know that ultimately it makes no difference!
@Shefliesonherownwings I hope your appointment tomorrow goes well, rubbish admin seems to be a very standard nhs thing!
@SunStruck thanks for asking after me! Your bump looks gorgeous, we really are in a very similar camp as I'm also here after 2 losses at the age of 36. I'm ok thanks, eating little and often seems to be the way forward to avoid the chronic chest pains and relieve the discomfort. I'm only short (just over five foot) which the midwife reckons really isn't helping my symptoms - everything is squashed up in my short torso, it's a delight when the baby is pushing on both your stomach and bladder at the same time!
Re mat leave I'm taking 9 months then my husband is taking 3 months. My maternity package isn't too bad, I get paid relatively well for the first 6 months then statutory pay for the other 3. I'm finishing work at 38 weeks so 5 and a half weeks to go.....
@SammiLou2312 so exciting that you're on mat leave now! I'm also struggling with sleep but my issues are generally bladder based - I seem to need a wee every 90 minutes in the night without fail. Your constipation issues sound awful, touch wood it's something I've never experienced, I hope your midwife can suggest something that will help out.
Updating my weeks again....
