@Rachael321 that's very exciting, everything crossed for you x

Treaclepie19 · 29/07/2020 21:34

Oooh exciting @Rachael321!!
Definitely pad on and phone them. They can test and once your waters have started they like to induce within 24 hours once you're at term.
My waters broke at 37+3 with ds1.

Rachael321 · 29/07/2020 23:36

Been nothing more since 6pm ish so false alarm by the look of it! Oh how glamorous 😂

TunnocksTcake · 30/07/2020 09:13

Hello Ladies! Sorry I've been crap at keeping up with this. I hope everyone is ok! Exciting to see some action from @Rachael321 yesterday!!!
I've had a busy few weeks with my 30th and going through redundancy discussions. I am now definitely being made redundant and fighting work for maternity pay. They have hired a very bad hr company to help with redundancies and very mistakenly believe that because my mat leave would start after my last day with them they don't have to pay. I have told them (in no uncertain terms) that they are wrong and I'm waiting for their response...! Emailed last Friday and still waiting so will give them a nudge today or tomorrow I think.
I had my first face to face appt with midwife in 20 weeks a couple of weeks ago and bump is measuring 2 weeks ahead! Mw suggested she may put me through gd testing if the same at my next appt on Monday.
I also had a second bout of reduced movements where I didn't feel her at all for three hours then went in for monitoring. All was fine, she did a huge roll about ten mins in and after that felt back to normal. They sent me for a scan as it was my second monitoring.
Scan was lovely, baby is measuring ahead, but seems to be all leg. I think femur length was 88th centile and head only 40th which is excellent news! Tummy was somewhere in the middle so she wasn't concerned about gd. Sounds like baby girl takes after her mother, I am all leg and have a tiny head too! 😂 very glad I have mostly bought up to 1 month/ 0-3 clothes instead of newborn!

I’m so excited that so many of us are coming up to the point where we will meet our babies. I’d love to see pictures if you are happy to share. For me it feels like such a hard and harsh stretch is coming to a close x

AnxiousLady1 · 30/07/2020 15:19

@Littlegoth Same! I love seeing all the positive scan pictures and am really excited by the prospect there will be lots of happy new baby updates on here soon.

Shefliesonherownwings · 30/07/2020 15:29

I'm sure it won't be long @Rachael321. You're officially full term now. When I was in labour with Isla, I thought my waters had gone as I felt a rush of liquid. After examination by the midwife, turns out it was just a load of watery discharge. Who said pregnancy is dignified!

Knotemma · 30/07/2020 16:19

@TunnocksTcake sorry to hear that your still having issues at work...they clearly need someone who understands employment law involved! Get everything in writing so that if they do try to screw you it's all written down ready for a tribunal!

I'm in a strange position at work, as the team I'm currently seconded to is going through a major restructure. This means that there are some new permanent jobs coming up...so I'm applying for jobs 2 weeks before I go on leave🙈. It's a very strange situation to be in, especially because I apparently don't even have to tell them I'm pregnant on my internal application, never mind that I'm finishing for a year on 14 August 🤷‍♀️. Luckily whatever happens my "proper" job isn't affected... But that would mean taking a paycut of over £1k a month to go back to it when my maternity is over, so that's all fun and games.

Sorry you're not feeling great @Rachael321 but full term is a massive deal, especially with the health complications you've had. Fingers crossed the little one makes an appearance sooner rather than later!

Knotemma · 30/07/2020 16:24

Just to add... There's a baby event on at Aldi starting today, so may be worth a look for some of us... @Avocuddles you need these bibs!

@Rachael321sorry to hear it was a false alarm...am sure baby will be here soon!

Time to update my weeks again...officially finish work after tomorrow as I have a couple weeks holiday to take before my maternity leave kicks in...it's crazy to think with me getting induced that baby girl will be here in next 4-6 weeks!

@Knotemma I already have those bibs and the matching sleeping bag on order! My username actually originally came from some pyjamas so we'll be matching 💕

My parents arrived today for the weekend, haven't seen them since Christmas as they live almost 300 miles away on the south coast so it's lovely to have them here and i have to admit to sharing some long overdue but definitely not socially distanced hugs. Went for a long walk this afternoon so feeling pretty knackered now but grateful for a few days off work - still over 6 weeks left working for me assuming she doesn't show signs of arriving early.

@Rachael321 hang in there not long to go now! As others have said I'm really excited at the prospect of seeing some baby photos on here soon!

@Knotemma @TunnocksTcake sorry to hear about your stressful work situations, certainly not what you need at the moment.

Hope all of you based in the UK have quiet days planned tomorrow as it's going to be hot hot hot!!! Have stocked the fridge with alcohol free cider and the freezer with ice creams so we're good to go here but don't think we'll be having another 5 mile walk if it's 32c as my phone currently claims....

Realised I've made it to 31+4 without updating my weeks so here we go.....at least when I update on Sunday it'll feel like time is flying by!

Thank you for the advice @SammiLou2312 and for the welcome @Hagster.

Lots of luck to @Rachael321 for when the time comes!

It’s lovely to see you too @footprintsintheslow and a few others from the TTC after loss thread. Hoping to stay on here now I’ve finally made it past 12 weeks! But still feeling more numb than happy at the moment. Can’t get out of the “don’t get hopes up and don’t get attached” mode that I’ve been for the last 3.5 years. How long does it take to get past that and start feeling happy and excited?

SammiLou2312 · 30/07/2020 19:09

@FloDaffodil it got a little easier for me once I got through 20 week scan however I still have my moments even at 33 weeks. I think once you start feeling kicks and movements it's a little easier but as I'm sure everyone else on here will agree, the anxiety never truly goes away...I think partially that's due to our losses but also part of parenthood lol. Even when baby is here am sure I will find something to worry about haha! Just remember that today you are pregnant and if you are ever having a wobble or concern, we are here as is your midwife xx

Rachael321 · 30/07/2020 20:58

Thanks for the well wishes ladies @Avocuddles @FloDaffodil @Shefliesonherownwings @Knotemma @SammiLou2312

Felt rotten all day topped off with a flare up of the gallstones! 3 hours of agony even with painkillers. Given me a new worry... how am I supposed to look after a baby if it flares up when I'm alone once baby is born?

Next midwife appointment is on Tuesday

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2020 21:28

Sorry to hear you're in pain @Rachael321. Gall stones are the worst.
I used to have buscopan and codeine if it was really flaring up which helped while looking after a 14 month old.

Rachael321 · 30/07/2020 21:50

@Treaclepie19 I've got both and it's doing nothing :( there's nothing more they can give me apparently

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2020 21:52

😩 That's dreadful. I'd recommend solpadol because that helped me after I'd had the gallbladder out.
I hope they can whip it out quickly for you.

Rachael321 · 30/07/2020 22:31

@Treaclepie19 how have things been for you since having it out? I've read it can cause weight issues etc. Hoping for an easy run of it as due to get married in march! Have no dress yet so can't be doing with a yoyo body shape any more than I already am

Treaclepie19 · 30/07/2020 23:00

@Rachael321 fine! I lost a lot of weight while it was still in because of reducing the fat in my diet and feeling so ill.
When it came out I had a bit of an adjustment with digestion but I have ibs anyway. I still find I shouldn't eat too much fatty/greasy food but I have put weight back on after our little boy died so it can't be affecting my diet that much.
Before getting pregnant I had a period of pain in the area which the doctor said can happen sometimes but it's gone off again.

Much better than having it in though!

footprintsintheslow · 31/07/2020 08:24

@Rachael321 have the sea given you any idea of when you could have the op done to remove it?

What family do you have nearby for support? A few years ago I used to work for HomeStart which is a family support charity. We supported so many different kinds of families, anyone who needed an extra pair of hands really.
So the types of families ranged from millionaires in mansions who had twins but no family to help out to refugee families fleeing conflict.

footprintsintheslow · 31/07/2020 08:38

Sorry @Rachael321 I sent that before finishing.
So you can get any health care professional to refer you but you can do self referral too and that goes for any of us here too.

Hagster · 31/07/2020 08:40

@footprintsintheslow what an amazing initiative ♥️

JuniperAndRose · 31/07/2020 09:10

I hope you are all doing ok in the heat today ladies! I've never been pregnant in the summer before and oh my goodness I am overheating. This morning I dug out some holiday clothes from a box under the bed and am now wearing a loose dress I usually only wear as a beach cover up. DH also did an emergency order of a paddling pool so I'm hoping it arrives today and I can dip my toes in :-)

@Rachael321 I hope you are ok today, I'm sending you all good thoughts
@FloDaffodil gentle congratulations and welcome. I'd say that the happy and excited feelings come in waves - there are some good and some bad days, and sometimes all the feelings all at once! It's ok to just feel how you feel, it's good to share with people who understand that along with all the joy of a pregnancy, being pregnant after loss is difficult (might be something of an understatement there).

Rachael321 · 31/07/2020 10:27

Thanks for that @Treaclepie19
@footprintsintheslow all that's been said really is once baby is here il go on the waiting list for it to be removed really and that it will be my GP that handles it. As for support I've got my mum and 2 aunts that live less than 10 mins away thankfully although I do like to be independent I know I'm going to need help. That's a fab charity never heard of it before
