Okay I'm still super nervous but time to take the plunge and started a Grad bus for the recent BFPs from the main thread. According to NHS calculator I'm due 18th March and it's #1 for me 😬

@zippityzip yes great speech! 🙌
@Sausage1990 also not keen on eating, but not sure if thats due to pregnancy or heat as I don't do well in heat anyway!

Love all the scan photos 🤗🤗 makes me excited!

Also been up since 6am as I was milking cows this morning so @Ltay2 you ate off mince, I got cow shit splash back in my mouth 😩 but I think my immune system can handle it from years of working with them 😅 What was worse was I came home early afternoon to find dog 💩 on the bathroom floor! Then I felt sick and definitely not able to eat 😩🙈 at least he missed the carpet. Why do I love animals again?

Ltay2 · 12/08/2020 15:58

@blodyn91 Hahahaha oh god that's awful 😂 I had one experience of milking cows when I was at uni and I would never wish to repeat the experience 🤢

zippityzip · 12/08/2020 16:06

@blodyn91 I genuinely don't know how you've been out in this heat let alone cow shit splash in your face 😂 fucking hell.

mrsmummy1111 · 12/08/2020 16:35

Oh fuck that @blodyn91

Sausage1990 · 12/08/2020 16:49

Haha @blodyn91 that's not the start to the day you want but hey that farm life eh? 😂

I'm actually having a cool bath and it's devine. I'm currently still off work having taken some time off due to anxiety & stress. So I'm making the most of not having to do anything other that listen to my body... Which told me it was too bloody hot haha. I've been making 3 layer face masks too, which is time consuming but so satisfying 😷 what's everyone else been up to today? Xx

Ltay2 · 12/08/2020 16:54

@Sausage1990 I've really missed having a bath. I haven't had one now since AF week as I was too scared to in TWW and now too scared to until 12 weeks in case I do it too hot and it causes problems. But a cool bath to lounge in and read my book may be the answer in this heat 🙌🏼

Sausage1990 · 12/08/2020 17:00

Honestly @Ltay2 do it! It's so lovely. Best decision I've made today 😊

blodyn91 · 12/08/2020 17:02

I need a bath to clean all the shit off me 🤣🤣 just finished team meeting so off for a cold shower. Got another bike race tonight, just a local club one. Going to take it very easy!! I enjoy catching up with friends or I wouldn't bother.

SmileyT · 12/08/2020 18:06

@2020mission how are you feeling today? x

@Ltay2 I know it's hard when you're stressed but that mince story did make me chuckle 🙈

@Cocoblue22 I'm glad you are feeling better, I was really worried about you (if somebody doesn't post a couple days I panic) and yeah if I have a healthy baby and put on a few extra lbs I'll get over it, I just want to make sure the little bean is getting a least a few nutrients from my diet 😂 guess the midwives will monitor it anyway ☺️

@zippityzip @Skip86 yay to more successful scans 🥳 x

@Sausage1990 lovely line progression, are you going to carry on testing? So glad you have some time to focus on you right now, my manager is hard work and had a review with her today (90mins of my life I'm never getting back) and it honestly makes me so anxious 😥

@LittleRa being under a consultant just means extra checks doesn't it? So that can only be good for you and little one, but one thing my friend has instilled in me is not letting anyone bully you into anything. They obviously give you all the medical information but when it comes down to it they should support your decision. What did they say about OH at the scan? x

@mrsmummy1111 I could eat McDs everyday but that was the same before pregnancy but tbh all I want at the moment is ice lollies for breakfast lunch and dinner 😂

@blodyn91 god I get nauseous sometimes just looking at toast the thought of cow shit in my face would definitely make me vom 🤮 enjoy your ride lovely x

@samilicious I've already had my nails done I'm sure it's fine and I'm worrying over nothing! X

@zippityzip glad your scan went well and you made up with DH sounds like you had a wonderful sonographer!! Thanks for the reassurance on the beauty treatments! Love your comment to @Mococo1 you are spot on! And I totally agree with you to all the 1st timers just enjoy being preggo eat what you want and you'll lose the weight after I was mahoosive and lost it in ten months so I don't think that bad going really (oh and FYI the reality is most women don't just snap back in two weeks like the celeb mags would have you believe so don't be bothered if it takes you longer just enjoy it all and the weight will go off eventually) X

@Skip86 beautiful scan photos what a cute little bean! Glad everything is going well x

@Ltay2 I feel exactly the same so wish I had a pool right now! X

@Mococo1 glad you're feeling a little more relaxed! The worry of being a parent never goes away I worry all the time! X

@Sausage1990 congratulations 🎉 and excellent line progression there x

@2020mission as much as you probs don't want to think about it I didn't either first time but honestly knowledge is power there were lots of things no one told me and Deffo not in any birthing books which I wish someone had told me about before hand so I would have been better prepared. Try not to worry though those stories will be on the extreme end of the spectrum most people don't tear very badly x

@LittleRa I totally understand your disappointment I really wanted a water birth but I'm high risk and will never get to have one ☹️ but as we said before as long as baby and you are safe that's all that matters and we just have to accept it. I know it's crappy tho x

Ltay2 · 12/08/2020 18:26

@Sausage1990 If it's still warm at the weekend I will definitely be trying that to reinstate my Saturday afternoon bath ❤️

@SmileyT I can laugh about it now I'm not dead and my house no longer smells of rotting meat 😂😂😂

samilicious · 12/08/2020 18:32

@2020mission hope you're ok and the bleeding has subsided again 🤞🏻 I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but so nerve wracking

@blodyn91 @Sausage1990 I'm the same - can't stand the thought of a big meal which is probably a good job because I've done about 10 steps on my fake fitbit today 😂

Sausage1990 · 12/08/2020 18:50

@SmileyT Well in my panic at the lack of progression yesterday I bought 2 more frer ahaha so I've got them there if I want to. I don't know yet. I also got some clear blue week indicator ones which I'll definitely do... I'd like to wait to see 2-3 weeks so it would be better if I could wait a few more days as I'm only 4+1 according to my calculations - but i'm so impatient so we will see how well I do haha

@samilicious yeah big meals aren't ideal. I was hungry so I just ate some bacon & mushroom pasta bake and it was nice but the whole way through I felt like I was forcing myself to eat it and now I'm sat here just feeling a tiny bit bleh. So wierd. It's probably a precursor to full nausea at week 6 ahah my SIL said she was fine and then week 6 on the dot the nausea started 😬

@Cocoblue22 I'm actually with you when it comes to knowledge is power. I actually love hearing all the birth stories, the good & bad. I'd rather go in with my eyes open... The more you know the less scary things are in the longer term - I've had friends highly recommend hypnobirthing and they all said understanding it all make it so much easier to manage. I mean doesn't take the pain away but helps you understand what your body is doing and how you can work with it... Fascinating stuff. X

Sausage1990 · 12/08/2020 18:58

@SmileyT also I'm sorry your manager is such hard work... Anxiety in work is horrible. I'm currently trying to learn about setting boundaries in the work place, it's hard but I have to start trying for my own wellbeing - so should you if work is stressing you out, especially in your condition 😉💕

Have you told work yet? I don't know at which point to tell work. I think I need to fairly soon because I work in the NHS and although I'm not ward based they may need to make some adjustments BUT I don't really want to tell work yet. What are other peoples experiences? Xx

Ltay2 · 12/08/2020 19:00

I feel my nausea is also starting to set in slightly too. Nothing major at the moment but definitely felt more sicky today than I have before. The heat probably isn't helping and it seems to be worse when I feel hungry but it doesn't put me off eating!

2020mission · 12/08/2020 19:31

@SmileyT I'm feeling absolutely fine, except for every visit to the loo when I wipe more CM full of streaks of red! Still no cramps or anything on the liner I've been wearing today. I think I'll cave and test tomorrow though to see if the hCG is dropping. I have a family meal out on Friday and if I test on Friday morning to find it's low or negative, I just know I'll be an emotional wreck all day and won't be able to go to the meal. Trying not to think about it and just see what the result is tomorrow.

@samilicious thank you, I'm just trying to keep positive and will see what the next test shows tomorrow 🤞

@Cocoblue22 yeah I'd be expecting a tear with a first birth, best to expect it then it's not a shock 😂 my mum told me she was given an episiotomy with both her births and my husband said his mum needed cesareans for both so the odds are not good for me haha. It was some chat about bad stitching I scrolled on to and I just thought nope, not reading this today!

LittleRa · 12/08/2020 20:03

@SmileyT re: partners at scans... So at my appointment yesterday I had to choose between two hospitals. One is where I had DD, and was happy with, and the other is newer (wasn’t open when I had DD 6 years ago so wasn’t an option). Both have great reputations and same level of care in terms of midwife led units as well as special baby units if needed. Both are equal distance from home but in basically opposite directions, with the older one where I’ve been before being in the city centre and the newer one being a less busy area on the outskirts of a smaller town. Here’s the kicker- they’re each in different NHS trusts, which means that at the moment they’re both under different COVID rules based on that trust’s decisions. The older one where I had DD is only allowing partners to 20 week scans, not to 12 week ones, whereas the newer one is allowing partners to 12 and 20 week. The midwife did say the rules could change any time, but with my scan being probably in the next 3 weeks I decided to go with the one allowing partners to 12 week scans! Now I’m hoping I haven’t just made a snap decision based on that one thing because there are lots of other factors to consider... but both hospitals do both have really good reputations. The midwife did say I can change later although it’s good to stick with one from the start for continuity.

Re: the consultant care and water birth. Yes, I am trying to frame it that being under a consultant will be a positive because it will mean extra scans and care if needed. I’m also hoping that if I discuss things with them about how although she had a low birth weight there were not other issues, I will still be able to have a water birth, or at least maybe compromise to spending part of the labour in the pool and getting out towards the end for the actual delivery. I really felt so comfortable in the pool last time bobbing around and warm and I think the water helped with not tearing and not needing stitches and (this might sound weird but) everything seemed so clean because the water was there- I didn’t see any blood or like when you see babies being born on TV and they’re covered in that white vernix stuff, not that I’m hugely bothered about cleanliness or squeamish or anything, it just seemed so good but I’ve probably built it up in my mind and like you say @Cocoblue22 healthy baby is the priority!!

Madz123 · 12/08/2020 21:26

@Sausage1990 I've already had to tell people at work even though I really didn't want to and felt like I was jinxing myself by telling them because I work on PICU and there's just so many infections that I now need to avoid 🙄🤷‍♀️

Sausage1990 · 12/08/2020 22:56

@madz123 hmm okay. It's hard isn't it when you work in health care and will be risking exposure to infections... The hospital guidelines seem to be that you can continue in work until 28 weeks then after 28 weeks you need to take extra precautions but I still don't know if I'm comfortable with that. I'm off work until September so I think I'll weight until my return to work to share I think, given that I have that luxury atm.
Were your work ok with making adjustments @madz123? Xx

Cocoblue22 · 12/08/2020 23:12

@SmileyT yeah I'm okay now thank you had a tough few days and was feeling a bit rubbish but okay now. Booked another scan for Sunday as DH won't be allowed to my 12 week nhs scan so thought at least he can come to this 9-10 week dating scan (I should be 9+5 but I expect to measure 9+1) x

@2020mission oh yeah the bad stitching stories I've heard a few of those! you may have no tearing at all some ladies don't a lot of my friends haven't or have had a minor one..... even if it's a big one just make sure to tell them to give you a designer vagina that's what I asked for 🤣 try not to think to much on the bad stories they are the extremes x

@LittleRa I'm pretty sure you would at least be able to labour in the pool or the non pool rooms have baths which is pretty similar too. Pool births do sound pretty amazing x

Mococo1 · 12/08/2020 23:33

@2020mission hope you're okay hun and that the spotting stops for you- will be thinking of you tomorrow - sending positive vibes!

@LittleRa hopefully after hearing the full story they change their minds!

@Sausage1990 same but work in an office so doubt they will make me go back in October when '50%' phase return starts. TBH I rather go to the office if I'm feeling ok as it gets me out and about rather than lazy at home x

Re: stitching I did hear there are things you can do like primrose oil collagen supplements etc in the later trimesters to help prevent tearing so wouldn't worry about it at this point! Whatever will be will be as long as we all get our healthy beans xxx

Madz123 · 13/08/2020 06:32

@Sausage1990 yer it's not been too bad because it's 1 to 1 nursing on ICU so I just get allocated one of the patient's with the least infections so actually adjustments don't really need to be made

zippityzip · 13/08/2020 06:42

@2020mission Hope you're ok let us know how you get on.

zippityzip · 13/08/2020 06:45

Also anyone worried about tearing - I did tear with my first but the stitching was all internal and as far as I'm aware they did a good job 😁

Second time I took evening promise oil from 37 weeks. And from 38 weeks I put them inside near my cervix. My second Labour was overdue so it doesn't bring it on, but I didn't tear at all and it was really quick.

SmileyT · 13/08/2020 07:33

@Sausage1990 yeah she really does put a strain on me and she is one of those managers that makes loads of ridiculous suggestions about how I can be better at my job, but by the end of a conversation with her I've somehow been manipulated into agreeing with her 😩

I haven't told work yet, my friend wants me to tell her this week because of the travel but I'm so anxious about it, not even sure why just seems super early and I don't think they are making any adjustments anyway. Last time I was planning on telling them around 23weeks but because of the MC and having a few days off work I had to say something, her first response was 'I'm guessing it wasn't an immaculate conception so do you have a boyfriend' 🤷🏾‍♀️ as you're off work now I guess you don't have to think about it at least until you return x

@2020mission let us know how you get on with the test this morning 🤞

@LittleRa sounds like you researched both options before anyway and you were a little torn between which one is right for you and you've decided on an issue that is important to you, which sounds smart ☺️ did they mention anything about work? x

@Cocoblue22 yeah that will be nice for DH to be there and feel more attached, may be more of a shape at the next scan aswell ☺️

@zippityzip was your recovery not too bad after your first then? How big were your DC? My best friend and SIL had 180 tears even with all the lotions and massaging and whatever else but babies were big and both told it would've been a miracle if they didn't tear, so think I just kinda assumed it happened most of the time 🙈 my friend that had a baby last month was told they could go instrumental to get him out or it was an ELCS, after my other friends story she opted for a CS 😂 I guess with birth people do it so few times it's just luck or the draw x
