Good for you MCNW!

Back from the GP and well since I think I have some kind of urinary infection..they found a tiny trace of blood in my urine and I'm off to EPU tomorrow to get checked out..little bit of brown goo as well so fairly worried..so keep fingers crossed

goingfor3 · 13/11/2007 16:44

mcchesers try not to worry too much. Last time I saw the midwife she found a small amount of blood in my wee and all is now fine. I aslo had some brown discharge and pink and red and as far as I know baby is well. It is quite common but yes very worrying, I was on the phone to epu as soon as I found even a dot of something blooding looking!

mcchesers · 13/11/2007 16:59

thanks G43 I really needed to hear that right now My back started hurting and I've started cramping a little bit, but see this is how I would feel if I had a urinary infection anyway. Well tomorrow will tell anyway.

p2b · 13/11/2007 17:40

Hi

Haven't posted for a bit but have been lurking. mcchesers, I will be thinking of you at the EPU tomorrow.

My husband and I went to our consultant follow up appointment this morning after my MMC two months ago. We found out our baby was a girl and the autopsy points to a chromosonal abnormality called Triploidy where three sets of chromosones are present instead of the 2 that should be there. The pathologist is fairly confident that this extra set were from the maternal side. The consultant was thorough going through the report and said that any further pregnancies would probably be classed as high risk and we would be talked through the chromosonal tests available. It was at this point that I told him I was already pregnant. I have done a bit of research and it appears that the likelihood of this abnormality recurring is no higher for me than for the general population so I'm hoping the consultant care is an acknowledgement of what has happened rather than something to get really worried about. Does anyone have any experience of Triploidy? Anyway, will be off to the GP tomorrow to get a referral tomorrow. I feel strangely positive about the results and am now looking forward. (of course this optimism may change like the wind)!

goingfor3 · 13/11/2007 17:45

p2b it's good to hear you sounding so positive. It must be a releif to have found out exactley why you miscarried and to know that it is extremly unlikely to happen again. Being classed high risk sounds daunting but at least you know you will get a high level of care with more appointments and extra scans.

MerlinsBeard · 13/11/2007 20:02

MrsMC.......31 weeks???31 weeks WOW

Feedmenow...congratulations on your (most likely a) girl its a relief to know everything is ok isn't it?!

p2b...you do sound positive, it must be a kind of relief in a way to know what caused your miscarriage instead of being told "it was one of those things". Glad your further risk isn't any higher than the rest of the population though, i hope that settles your mind a wee bit as well.

I am classed as high risk too...have gone form no risk at all and having home birth to possibly needing admitting weeks before hand and will need a section (anterior placenta praevia)

KashaSarrasin · 13/11/2007 21:02

mcnw Congratulations on your mw visit, sorry about the needle experience (ouch!)

mcchesers hope everything goes OK at the EPU tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you

p2b no experience of this but (((hugs))) and it's good news that the chances of the same thing happening again are low.

I've booked a scan for next Wednesday (8 days to go!) when I'll be 7+3. I have my mw booking in appt the following week and wanted to have had a scan by then. I'm both excited and nervous. My nausea is getting worse by the day, which I'm hoping is a good thing!

I've also had lots of sticky CM the last few days (sorry TMI) anyone know if this is normal? And I am sooooo tired, I'm really not functioning at work...

Got to go, DS has just finished his bath with DH and have to take over!

Jossiejump · 13/11/2007 21:22

Glimmer-How are you doing?
I've thought for the past week that it was al kicking off, but I'm still waiting...

Bouncingturtle · 14/11/2007 07:06

Glimmer - thinking of you, hope the acupuncture works!
Hey Jossie - you'll be next after Glimmer! All very exciting isn't it!
MrsMc - nice to hear from you, hope you aren't working too hard though.
McChesers - sorry to hear about your UTI, I think they are fairly common during pg. I had brown goo discharge for 3 weeks from about 11 weeks and then it just disappeared.
G43 - yes, I seem to remember similar sensations around 13, 14 weeks but I have suffered from IBS and thought it was just that! It's really exciting though!
P2B - that's great that at least you know why you miscarried, and even better that they are keeping a close check on you. Here's to an uneventful pg.
Hello to everyone else. Back in to work today! Only 2 more working days left

MrsMcJnr · 14/11/2007 11:11

Morning ladies

Makescakesnotwar ? glad the appointment went well, Tuesday?s scan will be here before you know it thanks so much for your list, I thought it was fab and have now added a few things to my ?must buy? list. I wish I could afford the services of a maternity nurse, it must be fab having someone there who can reassure you that you are doing things right. I am trying to make my life easier post birth by cooking and freezing 21 days worth of healthy meals so at least that?s one thing that I won?t have to think about any ?make your life easier? tips from you?

Goingfor3 ? how awful for your nephew!! I think I will have to fortify myself against being too protective. My insensitive mother started talking about cot death to me the other day, like I need anyone to introduce a new worry to me Really hope the consultant turns up today and that you get good news, not long now until your scan sounds like bubba movements to me

McChesers ? sorry to hear about the infection hope all is well and that EPU reassure you today. I have had traces of blood in my urine before when I didn?t have an infection and I wasn?t pregnant, never knew why.

P2B hello. It must have been traumatic going through that follow up hon, huge hugs . One of my friends has a genetic disorder. She carries hygrophilous and it means that males are susceptible. She had a mc with her first before any genetic tests could be done and they found that the baby was female and had 3 sets of chromosomes. For her, this was a relief as it was nothing to do with her genetic issues and she was told it was just something that sometimes happens and that she was no more likely than anyone else for it to happen again. Hopefully, it is exactly the same for you, no more likely to happen to you again then anyone else and that the consultant care is a recognition of what you have been through already You should feel positive hon, chances are your beanie is healthy and well I?m classed as high risk because I have a blood clotting disorder but as I have been so well (touch wood) I see the extra care as a real bonus, I feel so well looked after and not half as scared as I was when I found out about my condition.

MOM ? I know!!! I was born at 36 weeks, my nephew was born at 36 weeks??.!!! That said, my sister was born at 42 weeks so I might still have a long wait ahead! DH and I are hosting a surprise birthday party for MIL?s 60th on 17/12, family Christmas and a NY party but all on the provisio that if Beanie turns up, it?s all cancelled!!

Kasha ? not long until that scan! I?ve had lots of CM throughout my pregnancy so far, I think its normal

Bouncing ? 2 more working days!!!

Thinking of you Glimmer

feedmenow · 14/11/2007 12:49

Hello everyone!

Am feeling a bit rough today so am not going to hang around on here long.

Just wanted to say to MrsMc that I started a new thread about sensor monitors and natures nest and finally got a definitive answer from someone saying no, you can't do it. SO at least now I know!!

marymalone · 14/11/2007 13:14

hello ladies
i have been "stalking" for a while, hope that doesn't sound too sinister! your posts have helped me enourmously. i have a son who is almost 2 and had a mc in june this year at 11 1/2 weeks. i have just found out i'm pregnant again. after spending 4 months wanting nothing but to be pregnant i am now in a right old state. i took the test 2 days early on a digital and it came up positive straight away. i had all the classic symptoms of pregnancy and was delighted. however 5 days on i still feel sick and very tired and have to pee all the time, but my boobs aren't as sore. of course i immediately thought the worst and went straight out and bought a cheapie (tescos)test and its positive but slightly fainter than i was expecting, however it is the middle of the day and i had emptied my bladder only 1 hour before. i know how mad this sounds but i really just wanted some friendly advice and reassurance. thanks very much in advance

ZamMummy · 14/11/2007 13:47

Hi everyone, not been posting much as v nervous about consultant visit 2mrw when will get nuchal/blood results, plus will be telling them about my 3 day migraine over weekend - healthy and well, healthy and well....

MrsMc great idea on cooking lots of food in advance, my tip is to make it big and filling! I found bf made me more hungry than any time when pg (and I really didn't think that was possible!). I made enormous lasagnes, chillis and stews. However the very best things I cooked were two enormous Christmas cakes (DS was born in June, but hey, that's winter in Zambia) which I was able to munch on while bf and in the middle of the night with no preparation. If you leave out the marzipan and icing (booze OK as long as you boil off the alcohol, tho I confess I never bothered) it's actually very healthy, there's tons of iron in dried fruit and not much sugar in the cake overall.
Anyone who wants the recipe, do email me eltrlzambia at yahoo dot co dot uk.
I am also an EBay expert, every single thing (and I really do mean that) I bought for DS was from EBay and I cannot recommend it enough! Mind you like any addiction it can interfere with your job....

goingfor3 · 14/11/2007 13:52

I had a great appointment with the consultant this morning. He's putting me on the intensive pre term labour programme which means scans every two weeks up to the week I had my last mc and the weekly scans up to 24 weeks and back to every 2 weeks until 34 weeks. So from 16 weeks I will be scanned weekly. I also need to have swabs everytime I have a scan as even a slight infection including thrush can cause prem labour. I was supposed to have my dating scan next but in the antenatal clinic but the dr wants me to have all scans in epu when he is in clinic so I had my dating today and baby is doing well and my datyes have changed so I'm one more day pregnant than I thought and due 29th May. I'm just so happy to be having such great care, it really has made me feel more confident.

Glimmer · 14/11/2007 14:45

Hi all,
my due date has come and gone and no further news from here. The last weeks are similar to the first -- time slows down and it's difficult to find effective distraction. I worked until my due date (yesterday) and would have like to continue (for the distrcation) but IM thought it would be good to stay home and make space for the arrival. And women who are stressed do not go into labour.... Could be days or weeks and so far conventional metods have not worked. Indeed since I stayed home, all the little signs (period type pains) have stopped. Thanks for your thoughts, will defo let you know once he is born!

Glimmer · 14/11/2007 14:50

Oh, and did I say I am crancky and completely selfish? Jossie, shall we open a waiting-thread? I cycle very, very slow -- it's a lot easier than walking, because one does not have to take all the weight...

ZamMummy · 14/11/2007 15:17

Hi Glimmer, have you tried reflexology? I had 2 brilliant sessions when DS was overdue, the second (at 40+6) definitely got things going! You need to see someone who's trained in pg, association of reflexologists website has excellent list and contact details. Plus it's LOVELY and makes you all serene and dreamy

mcchesers · 14/11/2007 15:58

Hey ladies! Back from EPU and all is well. She said I had a "perfect little circle with a yolk sac" ..everything measuring spot on at 6 weeks. Sooo I go back in two weeks. There was no infection and the urine was clear and fine. So who the hell knows. Phew!

I'll be in a similar roation to Goingfor3 in that I'll be going back every 2 weeks.

I cannot thank you enough for your support. Big hugs to all of you xoxo

marymalone · 14/11/2007 16:16

that's fantactic news mcchesers you must be thrilled....i read your earlier posts and it sounded pretty stressful. such a nice thing for the sonographer to say "perfect little circle"! hope the cramps go soon or have already. i have had cramps from weeks 4 to 6 in all of my pregnancies, in fact the first time round the cramps were stabbing pains and they had me down as ectopic which thankfully wasn't the case. good luck with the rest of the pregnancy.

marymalone · 14/11/2007 16:19

sorry me again. mcchesers was the original early scan you booked private or through GP because you had a previous mc? think they don't routinely do them in our area if you've had prev mc, we have to pay.

mcchesers · 14/11/2007 16:22

Thanks mary I'm over the moon. This is the first time I've actually felt happy in weeks. I asked the sonographer what now? how do I make it to the next 2 weeks? She said "hibernate?" I thought that was funny. Feel so much better ahh.

mcchesers · 14/11/2007 16:25

I'm in Glasgow, my GP referred me because of a slight bit of blood in my urine and my previous mc. She thought it might be a UTI, but nothing showed in my sample today. The first time I had to pay and go private. It was that or wait 16 weeks to go to hospital. Never hurts to ask.

MrsMcJnr · 14/11/2007 16:51

Well done Feedmenow that?s good to know. I hope you feel much better soon.

Marymalone ? welcome and congratulations you are in the right place here, I remember feeling the same as you do now coupled with a feeling of not wanting to be pregnant because I was too scared if you see what I mean but here I am 31 weeks plus and doing well be kind to yourself and give yourself little milestones, we?ll help you through!

Zammummy ? everything crossed for you tomorrow hon, healthy and well. My sister had constant migraines with her pregnancies, nothing wrong at all, just unlucky LOL at the Christmas cakes, I am making a couple actually (with nut toppings as I don?t like marzipan!) and mince pies for visitors over Christmas when I refuse to go anywhere I have made a couple of bolognaise sauces but remembered that my poor nephew got such awful tummy problems from any food with tomatoes in that my sister ate when BF him so I am being tomato wary!

Goingfor3 ? that?s fab I really am pleased, let?s hope that this makes you feel so much more confident about it all

Glimmer hang in there hon, it must be hard to keep distracted.

Fabulous McChesers don?t lose that feeling of being healthy and well by the way, I live in West Lothian so another Scot here

p2b · 14/11/2007 16:56

Hi
mcchesers and Goingfor3 great to hear your feeling so positive after your scans. Excellent news. I have been to my GP this afternoon and now have a referral for the consultant and she has put in for an early scan. I should get the dates through for both next week. Not feeling quite as confident about the triploidy as I was because i've found a few articles on the net that hint at possible links with recurrent miscarriage but I'm hoping the consultant will be able to put this into perspective.

cece · 14/11/2007 17:00

Hi there, hope everyone is healthy and well.

Glimmer - I would highly recommend eating a fresh whole pineapple to get you going. DH and i treid everything last time and it worked a dream.

I am 15 weeks on Friday. I am thinking that I will not be having the amnio next week - don't want to risk a mc.
