Feel free to be a basket case here mcch - I've used this thread for SO many stupid questions that people have been unfailingly nice in answering and not just going 'shut up and stop worrying you silly bint'. Bless you all.

Glad your LO is doing well ejb x

Hey EJB-good to hear you and baby are well. Can't wait to be at that point either...you'll be an old pro by then!!

Torres, Looney - great news about the scans! Repeat after me...."Healthy and well, healthy and well". I'm still struggling on a n hourly basis not to worry. Just hang on in there.

McCheesey - welcome, welcome. Glad you are here.

I'm nearing 11 weeks, and have MW appt on 13th, followed by big 12 week scan on 20th....I even remember to be a little bit excited every now and then. DH is busy teeling everyone we've ever met, and I'm rapidly running out of clothes!

Hello to eveeryonne I missed. Sending you big love.

becklesparkler · 05/11/2007 13:53

Hi ejb! Glad you and LO are doing well! 4 weeks has really flown!
Hi Firsty, how are things with you? LO doing well I hope! Good point about Glimmer, don't think she has posted for a bit!
Makecakes running out of clothes is a good sign, am glad you are managing to get a little excited now and again! Sounds like your DH is over the moon too! It is hard not to worry but you will get through it - healthy and well.
McChesers, constant face stuffing is fairly normal I think, I only felt okay when I was eating for the first couple of months! Baby is taking everything directly from you at the moment, when the placenta kicks in I am sure your appetite will drop a bit. I seem to have lost mine completely at the moment and have to remind myself to eat - probably lack of room causing it!

Hi all,

Having a rather panicked day- my sister called this morning to say my nephew has slapped cheek- I have just spent the weekend looking after him, so have gone into major panic. I went up to the antenatal clinic and had a blood test but have to wait until Wedsnesday at least for the results. More stress! I just can't believe the bad timing of it all- I hardly ever see my nephew.

The healthy and well mantra has faded to a whisper.

Janus · 05/11/2007 20:01

Hi Torres,
I was just reading your good news about your scan (adding a week too so you're even further ahead!) and now just read about your nephew with slapped cheek. I vaguely remember it being a bit of a small risk in early pregnancy, now your 13 weeks I wouldn't class that as early anymore though, don't you think?? Also, I think you are immune if you had it as a child. It is actually really hard to diagnose, I think my daughter had it but that was more from instinct, my GP couldn't see her so I just dealt with it myself. She had slight red cheeks which I actually put down to the change in weather for a couple of days until she had a temperature too. So, you may well have had it as a child too, even if your Mum may think you haven't (my Mum can never remember what either of us had but maybe your Mum can?!). Anyway, try not to worry and maybe just relax a bit more for the next few days.
Looneytune, glad your scan went well, I know an early scan helped me to relax a tiny bit, hope you can too!
I keep looking at that Isabelle Oliver runner at the side of this page and wonder if I would even vaguely look so good in their clothes, somehow don't think so!!

torres · 05/11/2007 20:13

Hi Janus- the midwife I saw didn't really give me much info, but said it can be a risk up to 20 weeks. I've tried to resist looking on the internet to avoid stressing further, but you're right I think alot of women have had it as a child and are immune. Am holding on to that thought. My mum is the same as yours, she can't remember a thing!

Agree with you on the isabella oliver ad- I daren't wear trousers as my bum is huge and only likely to get bigger! Tried to find a maternity skirt for work at the weekend but failed miserably- all I could find were pencil skirts (havent been able to wear them since age 11) or lycra numbers which would show every lump and I don't hate my colleagues that much!

ejt1764 · 05/11/2007 20:29

hi all ... glad everybody seems to be doing well! long may it continue!

Go Glimmer! (assuming you're still the Grande Dame of the thread?)

Mairwen is 5 weeks old today ... I still can't quite believe she's here! She is an absolute poppet - and is eating for Wales ...

feedmenow - do you still want my vbac hypnotherpay CDs?

DonDons · 05/11/2007 20:32

Hey girls - just dropping in say hi. Great news on all the scans and I'm chanting healthy and well for you Torres....try not to worry matey.

Have 'popped' this weekend so have accepted the inevitable move into mat clothes. I ordered so Isabella Oliver bits a couple fo weeks ago and I love them all but need to buy some cheaper things for work this weekend - my shirt kept riding above my tummy today... was most

Jossiejump · 05/11/2007 21:37

Feeling really relieved that I'm on mat leave (but incredibly sad for someone), as someone at work has had a missed m/c identified today. Feel really awful for her and desperately want to help, but know that at 37 weeks pg, if I were her I wouldn't be able to talk to me (if that makes sense). It was her first pg, she was 13 weeks and baby stopped at 6-8 weeks . I feel dreadfully for her and know that it helps to talk to others in the same situation, luckily for her there are some other really caring people who have been through the same thing who will help her through as they did me

Bouncingturtle · 06/11/2007 07:16

Aww Jossie, your poor colleague hopefully she'll get the comfort she needs.
Didn't want to go into detail on here coz I didn't want to alarm the newbies but I had food poisoning on Sunday. Much better now!! Spoke to the Midwife yesterday and says it won't hurt the baby as long as you drink plenty of fluids.
DH had it too, so we had a duvet day yesterday, but we are both back to work today. I've got less than 2 weeks to go before I finish yippee!!

mcchesers · 06/11/2007 08:57

dondons - You "popped"? how far along are you? I've still got some fluff left over from August and wondering if I'm stuck with it now.

Jossie - Sorry about your friend, see if you can get her on here. I know it helped me a lot.

Torres - Hang in there hon..thinking positive thoughts for you!

bouncingturtle - Food poisoning is the worst. Glad to hear it's on it's way out.

EllieG · 06/11/2007 09:18

Torres - fingers crossed for you hon, am sure will be OK x

lovelylou · 06/11/2007 13:01

Only tried once and already had faint bfp. Am now petriffied is molar coming back. Seeing doctor tonight no doubt get lecture about how i should have waited. Keep your fingers crossed for me ladies.

becklesparkler · 06/11/2007 13:14

Torres, keeping my fingers crossed for you, I am sure you will be okay but the extra worry must be hard. Keep up with the 'healthy and well' mantra - even if it is just a whisper.
LovelyLou, thinking of you too, good luck with the doctor this evening.
Jossie, lucky you on MAT leave! about your colleague at work, I think you are right that it would be hard for her to talk to you but it sounds like she has some others around her who will support and help her through this.

lovelylou · 06/11/2007 13:28

Is it normal to get lower abdominal pain and back pain this early. Cannot rememder if i did with dd. Keep thinking it is a sign somthing is wrong, really worried

becklesparkler · 06/11/2007 13:35

I think it is fairly normal LovelyLou, it is the hormones which start to make everything relax and stretch at the beginning. Make sure you mention it to your doc tonight when you see him though as some more reassurance won't hurt. What time is your appt?

lovelylou · 06/11/2007 13:41

App at 4.50, just will not believe i am pregnant until i get scan. Took four months of trying last time and it was molar. Cannot believe we have got pregnant from one try. Has been quite a while since molar, was beginning of march 07 so i have my fingers crossed x

EllieG · 06/11/2007 13:44

Oh lovelylou, I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you x

DynamiteDaisy · 06/11/2007 13:56

Hi there....long time no speak and this dropped off my watch list when they changed the site. I'm belatedly catching up with the news that ejb had her baby....Big congratulations to you lovey lady...I'll hunt you down on your PN thread to say Hi.

Good Luck for glimmer and jossie in the coming weeks. I'll try to keep an eye out for things happeneing.

Hi to all the newbies. I'm a (not so) recent graduate of this thread....it's great . It's also nice to see everyone who was after me now having their babies as for ages I was out on my own at the head of the pack it seemed.

DD is now 22 weeks and we have started a bit of weaning as she began helping herself off my plate! she is a real sweetie and is very sociable and outgoing, talking at all the other babies she meets. I'm still Bfing (yay) inspite of all my early problems, and in the last couple of weeks it seems to have slotted into place.

Wishing everyone well!

mcchesers · 06/11/2007 17:34

ARGHGGHHH!!! enough with the cramps already.
Ok I took yet another test just to be sure and yep still BFP. I'm starting to lose the plot with these dark nights but at least we have Christmas right around the corner.

Bouncingturtle · 06/11/2007 18:48

Hey Daisy! Glad to see you and dd are doing well - lol at her helping herself. Glad your still breastfeeding especially after all the trouble you had. How's the PND been?

p2b · 06/11/2007 20:34

Hi

Can I join you? I have posted on the miscarriage boards a few times in the past as I had a missed miscarriage (two months ago), discovered at my 20 week scan. My husband and I were keen to try again so we waited for my first period and then started ttc. Last Thursday (CD24) I started spotting and assumed it was the start of AF, I used a tampon over night (but very little bleed - sorry for TMI), then bleeding stopped. On Saturday for some reason I felt compelled to do a test and it was positive! I know I should be really happy (I was desperate to be pregnant again - I just felt time was being wasted) and in many ways I am but I'm so scared it's going to happen again. I'm already worried about the bleed - what if it wasn't an implantation bleed, and we're dommed already. We have the consultant follow up appointment next Tuesday to find out the results of the autopsy and blood tests from the miscarriage. Have we been foolish in getting caught so soon. How have others coped in situations like this. I just want to feel happy....

Thanks
p2b

DynamiteDaisy · 06/11/2007 22:19

Hi p2b....I saw your earlier threads and am sorry for your loss, but congratualtions on your BFP

Statistically things are likely to be OK, but having had 2 mcs I know all about the worry only too well. i never experienced second trimester MC though, hugs to you for what you had to go through.

there are women on here who are better qualified to counsel you, and I'm sure someone will be along tomorrow with some words of support.

fingers crossed for you.

daisy xx

EllieG · 07/11/2007 08:34

Hello p2b - welcome to the thread. Is a good place to be as I think all of us understand feeling so scared alongside the excitment of a bfp and any worries can be aired here x
