Siameez - congrats on your scan! The reason why the MW might have refused to give you the blood test once the marker test showed no sign of DS is that sometimes the blood tests can give conflicting results. Or she couold just be a mardy cow.
Going into work today, but not attending the morning meeting. Going to be spending my time doing productive work.

goingfor3 · 30/10/2007 11:07

Morning ladies,

I had my scan this morning and saw the baby kicking and moving it's arms around like crazy! The baby is growing as it should (I keep wanting to say he) and there were no signs of where the bleeding came from though to be on the safe side I have been told to double my progesterone dose. They have still kept the scan appointment for next week and I will see the consultant then too, I'm looking forward to seeing the baby again.

Siameez, bizzare they didn't want you to have the blood test too, it's routine in most hosptials! Glad the scan went well.

ZamMummy · 30/10/2007 11:24

Hello everyone, I finally feel safe to join you all after lurking for 8 WEEKS I'm 12 weeks today, had a scan & nuchal on Friday and all was well, and I have a mini bump, so am starting to believe it really will happen. I've also had ms much worse this time than with DS, no actual puking but lots of retching (nice) - did you know that on Skype there is a puke emoticon? MN should get one!!
Anyway my EDD is May 14th but plan on having elective section so will probably be a week or so earlier.
So glad to finally join you all (and so many familiar names from TTC after MC - congrats!) after lurking for so long - it really has been a lifesaver but I'm so superstitious I thought it would jinx things if I joined before

MrsMcSpooky · 30/10/2007 12:31

Glad to hear that Bouncing ? you and the baby are your priority not the office

Siameez ? nice to get another scan . Sonographer sounded lovely I guess MW was just worried that the two results may differ and create confusion? Keep up that positive thinking hon

Goingfor3 great news about the scan and I am glad they are monitoring you closely

Welcome and many congratulations ZamMummy LOL about the puke emoticon, totally agree!

29 weeks today and my miracle pillow that I do believe will help me sleep has arrived!

siameez · 30/10/2007 12:32

Congratulations ZamMummy! Lovely to see you here

Mumpbump · 30/10/2007 12:43

Just popping in to say hello... Life with two is very busy. DS1 goes to nursery tomorrow so will try to post properly, but thinking of you all and especially Glimmer whom I seem to remember was due at the start of November...

Hope everyone is okay and bumps growing nicely...

torres · 30/10/2007 13:49

Hi ladies

zammummy- helllo again and congrats on your scan! Janus and I are both due on 14 May too!

Goingfor3- so glad your scan went well- sounds wonderful. It's good to hear you are being looked after.

siameez- how puzzling about the blood tests after all that stress the mw put you through. Really glad to hear everything looks positive.

cece- fingers crossed for your scan today

mrsmc- can't believe you are 29 weeks! where has all that time gone! the pillow sounds wonderful.

bouncing- sorry to hear about your stress at work. I really hope you can take some holiday/ earlier ML to look after yourself.

All well here- have my nuchal scan on Friday so am heavily repeating the healthy and well mantra

EllieG · 30/10/2007 14:55

Congrats on your scan goingfor3! And best of luck torres - it feels like it's come around quickly (although probably doesn't for you)

to everyone have no time for proper read but hope all are well

MrsMcSpooky · 30/10/2007 15:22

All the best for Friday Torres I have faith! Xmas Grin

feedmenow · 30/10/2007 16:20

Welcome on board Zam! Lovely to have you here, all healthy and well!

Siameez, what a silly moo that m/w sounds! At least it seems that you got a "human" sonographer though, which is something. And all looking good, which is the important thing.

Turtle, who do you work for? Have they been at all supportive, or are things just always like this there? You really must look after yourself cos you'll need all your strength for the birth. Don't waste it on any of those pathetically unimportant people

Fantastic news Going43! Must be such a huge weight off your shoulders!!

Would you believe, I started typing this message well before lunch and have only just got round to finishing and sending it!

cece · 30/10/2007 17:11

Hi there,

Haven't read through yet but wanted to post quickly as my monitor is playing up - keeps switching off.

Had scan today and baby was moving about loads. Measuring 12 weeks 4 days which is spot on. Not sure why I measured a week smaller at nine weeks!?

Now off to check everyone elses posts!

torres · 30/10/2007 17:27

Excellent news cece!

ellie and mrsmc- thank you both for your positive vibes. I am still feeling sick so taking that as a positive sign. This week really seems to be dragging though.

flosspot · 30/10/2007 19:07

good luck torres!

Hello again Zammummy- soglad all is well.

Hello MrsMc....29 weeks- can't wait for that.

good news cece...

did I miss anyone? Hope all is well. Have my date for scan at Kings...20th November. Keep repeating "Healthy and well, healthy and well"...may even be saying it in my sleep. Had email from NCt lady today too. Well, you've got to get in there early.

Oh, and none of my clothes or bras fit...and I'm only 9+5. Tee hee.

Janus · 30/10/2007 21:28

Hello everyone,

What a busy scan week!

Congratulations Zammummy you did so well just to lurk! I hope you can relax a little now.

Goingfor3, what a relief about the scan, it's fantastic when their arms and legs are all over the place!

Cece, I think your scan was today too so hope it all went well.

MrsMc, 29 weeks, wow, can you relax now you've reached this stage or is it still hard? Sorry, just curious.

I got the result of my nuchal today, 1 in 1,800, which is bloody amazing considering my slightly ancient age (37)!!! I was scanned and given blood test, they will not just scan you at my hospital as they said the result can be misleading without the blood test results too. I therefore find it so odd that your midwife would make you uncomfortable Siameez, seems every hospital has their own peculiar ways with some things.

Torres, I feel sick again although it is getting better, can last most of the day now but evenings are still hard. Nice to at least have the day back! Good luck on Friday with the Nuchal, it will be fine, I feel so positive now!

Must eat!

becklespookle · 31/10/2007 00:05

Hi all! Congrats on scans Cece and G43! Also congrats and welcome to Zammummy! Bouncing, glad you are looking into taking mat leave early, you sound like you need it! With less than 5 weeks to go until MAT leave starts even an extra week would do you good. I know I am already counting down the days, rather than weeks, to mine!
MrsMc, hope your miracle pillow works! I am still using the trusty feather pillow between the legs trick, trouble is I keep trying to roll onto my front - my sleeping brain constantly forgets that it's not really an option anymore!
Janus, fab nuchal results!
Siameez, glad your scan today was good and that they have taken some blood tests. I think that reassurance is as important as any other medical care when you are pg, MW was obviously having a bad day, grr...

Bouncingturtleskulls · 31/10/2007 07:09

Hello ladies!
Thanks for all your support
I emailed my boss and the HR manager and told them that as I was concerned that I could not manage my stress levels effectively, because I am in a high stress situation plus not getting enough sleep because of baby and because of fretting about work. I have told them I want to start my m/l a week early and take a week's holiday the week before which would mean I would finish in less than 3 weeks instead of 5.
My boss was down at Knottingley yesterday (where our HR department is based) and my HR manager promised she would catch him and discuss it with him. She knows how I am as I was on the phone to her in tears on Monday morning. Also my colleague the Production Manager bollicked to the people having a go at me in the morning meeting - he said they had made their point, I had explained why the lab hadn't done what they asked and they should have left it at that. My lab supervisor (who has been with the company 18 years, was already to go around and have a go at the one who was the main culprit (he is a twat who my LS has had run ins with before) but I told him not too.
The situation that I'm in is not the fault of anyone one site - we are all in the same boat. It is the fault of more senior people for allowing us to be understaffed and ignoring my boss's requests (until very recently) for more help. But I have born the brunt of it since my old boss went into semi-retirement back in 2004 and was never replaced.
Anyway, I expect my boss to see me today to see what he has to say - he wasn't in that morning meeting, and he was furious when he found out (I honestly believed it may not have happened if he had been there).
On the plus side, I interviewed a lass for the lab tech and she was so lovely and enthuisastic I wanted to hire her on the spot
Hope everyone else is okay, Goingfor3 - congrats on the scan
Tonight I'm off to see my friend(the one with the baby), she is hosting a little get together for another friend who's birthday it was last week. She can't go out as her DH is working nights, so birthday girl suggested staying in and getting a takeaway. I'll be staying overnight, and it'll be a competition who gets up more often, baby and friend, or me and bladder being squashed by baby! Plus all evening with gorgeous 6 week old
Well this has turned into a mammoth post! But good to get it all off my chest - thanks again ladies

MerlinsBeard · 31/10/2007 10:13

:waves:

Sorry i haven't been around much. Things still quite hard here and am now full of a cold - probably thru lack of slep and being run down!!

I have my 20 week scan 2mo and am really nervous. Excited that i will see my baby but terrified that they will tell me it has died or there is something so seriously wrong that carrying on wit hthe pregnancy would be cruel to both of us.
Am back to chanting the mantra

feedmenow · 31/10/2007 10:34

Hi MoM. You'll be fine, baby will be fine. Health and well. Have you felt baby moving at all? Do you hope to find out the sex?
I was 20 weeks yesterday but haven't got my scan til 22 weeks, so 13th Nov. So near yet so far! Although I have my doppler so we listen to the heartbeat every few days, and I've been getting some mighty kicks for a few weeks now. Still not regular enough to make me feel completely at ease, but still good stuff!
Anyway, what time is your scan tomorrow? Is it just you and dp going?

MerlinsBeard · 31/10/2007 10:39

my placenta is at the front so all movements are muted. i have felt some but it could easily be wind ()

scan is 1:30 so its the first of the afternoon which means no waiting. Will be DP and I and DS2 - my mum tried to con her way into coming but persuaded her not to! we do hope to find out the sex

MerlinsBeard · 31/10/2007 11:17

having just posted that i have had lots of movements that are definatly not wind!

Still worried thought that something will be wrong. Does that ever go away after a m/c ?

goingfor3 · 31/10/2007 11:21

mumofmonsters for me the worry when I was pregnant after my first mc didn't go away until I frist heard my babies cry.

becklespookle · 31/10/2007 11:59

Good for you Bouncing! Glad you are going to be getting some rest from the stress soon and great that you seem to have found someone so enthusiastic for the lab!
MOM, good luck for your scan, I was scared before my 20 week one too. In answer to your question I don't think the worry does ever go away after m/c. I will relax when I hold my baby and hear him/her cry.

becklespookle · 31/10/2007 12:01

Oh, I asked about my iron levels today and they are 8.7 and should be at least 10. The MW seemed fairly concerned and told me to make sure I took the tablets etc. Does anyone know what affects anaemia has on the baby? I don't want to google as it usually makes me panic!

flosspot · 31/10/2007 12:02

Glad you said that G43- makes me feel better. Everyone's really excited about our news (am crap at keeping secrets and showing so have had to start telling people) yet I find every day a challenge. There's always that knawing dread at the back of my mind.

Sorry- probably bought the mood right down.

torres · 31/10/2007 12:22

good luck with your scan MOM x

beckle- as far as I am aware it won't harm the baby, the baby is taking everything it needs from you which is why your reserves have dipped down. How are you feeling? I lost alot of blood after the erpc and my haemoglobin levels dipped to 8 which was enough for them to consider a transfusion. It made me feel really worn out, headachey, blurred vision and off sorts. I found the iron tablets made me very constipated so I switched to spatone which I got on with alot better. Are you getting lots of rest? (though I can't imagine how with working and 2 DCs). I am fretting about you now!!

flosspot- I am glad to hear you are having difficulty fitting in clothes. I bust the zip on my skirt in the offfice last week which was very embarrassing! My pg book says 'your waistband may feel tight from 15 weeks'- mine felt tight from about 7 and completely bust at 11!!

Bouncing- so glad to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel re work.

FMN goingfor 3- hello ladies! xx
