Yes she is bloody irritating. But hey ho. I shall visit GP in the morning I think.
I cant stand the not knowing. The nurse was very much you only have a week to wait. Or if the bleeding hasnt stopped in two weeks. TWO WEEKS what does she think I am. A robot who doesnt give a crap about my body or what might be a still alive baby.
Sorry angry again.
DD2 at nursery so she wont have to see me beg and cry.

ladylush · 11/10/2007 23:23

a week can seem like a decade when you are in that situation. I ranted at NHS Direct when I started bleeding. Stupid woman told me there were no walk-in epus in London. WRONG. She tried to argue with me. I said "well maybe it was the dental dept I went to, but they were very obliging and scanned me anyway" I was trying to find out if there was anywhere that I could get seen overnight (a long shot I know - that's how anxious I was)and she was trying to tell me there wasn't even anywhere that would see me in the day Trouble is I felt no better after ranting, just even more frustrated.

ladylush · 11/10/2007 23:27

Good luck at GP tomorrow.

Bouncingturtle · 12/10/2007 07:58

I just wanted to come on and say thank you for your advice when I posted about my back pain paranoia the other night. I went to the EPU today and they were amazing - gave me a scan straight away and it was paranoia. Baby was at the correct size with heartbeat so everything normal a due date. I am over the moon. Thank you for your advice and for making me feel at ease. I'm sure I will be on here again (no doubt with some other paranoia!!!!!) and to chat to all of you who are going through the same thing as me. It's so nice to know there are people out there who understand.

Thanks again and best wishes to you all xxx

ladylush · 12/10/2007 10:54

Excellent news Lorla - wish you well with the rest of your pregnancy

torres · 12/10/2007 11:02

great news lorla!

Mich10 · 12/10/2007 12:33

Hi all,

I hope you don't mind me joining. We ahve jsu encountered the longed for blue line 3 months after my first miscarraige and I am now slightly terrified.

Can someone tell me what the earliest opportunity is to have an external scan? I'm convinced against all medical research that the internal I had the last time started the whole m/c off. I'm new to the area and don't know my doctor so don't really have anyone who can give me this advice.

MrsMcJnr · 12/10/2007 12:40

Glimmer ? the limbo thread indeed, helped us all so much though didn?t it? how?s you?

Ronshar ? honestly hon, there are loads of ladies who?ve had really bad bleeds all the way through and didn?t MC on the pregnancy threads. Bleeds can go either way and most of the time no one knows why those bleeds happen, that is why predicting whether or not it is the end or not is so hard even for professionals. Greedy as I said the other day is a prime example (baby Marcy arrived fit and well and a wonderful 8lb9.5oz on 10/10 for anyone who knows Greedy ) sending you huge hugs. I know the place you are in xxxx Actually, another example, my sister had a big bleed around 9 weeks and they think that my DN was a twin and one was lost and that was why, obviously, I?d hate that to be true for you but that can happen x

If I were you, I would wait a week to be scanned. I got scanned too soon and it gave me false hope as my baby was still alive then and I can pinpoint exactly when she died after that. If it ever happens to me again, I don?t want a scan until the bleeding stops.

They have told me on several occasions that scans before 6 weeks are too unreliable as sometimes they can?t even see the sac, even when it is there and shows on a scan at 6 weeks. I think if you got scanned now, it would be inconclusive and you?d still be in a horrible limbo hon. I do feel for you though and am thinking of you.

Great news Lorla ? keep positive x

MrsMcJnr · 12/10/2007 12:42

Mich10 - congratualtions hon! I'd say 6 weeks is probably the earliest, but you'd not see a HB until 8 probably, hang in there xx

Mich10 · 12/10/2007 13:01

Thanks MrsMcJnr,

The last time they insisted that they ccouldn't do an external before 12 weeks.

If they go down that route this time I'll be crossing my legs as well as my fingers and hoping for the best.

Ronshar, wishing with all my heart that everything works out OK for you & yours.

ronshar · 12/10/2007 13:32

Thank you MrsMcJnr. You always come up with the goods.
I am going to wait and see. There isnt a whole load I can do really.
I am still bleeding, now comes with clots!

Oh well back to the drawing board.

goingfor3 · 12/10/2007 13:35

ronshar still hoping for the best for you.

Mich10 in my area you can have an external scan if your baldder is really full. I had one last week at just under 6 weeks and they even spotted a heartbeat!

MrsMcSpooky · 12/10/2007 13:46

How odd Mich10. Are you in the UK? I?ve had external and internal scans at 6 weeks. Granted they can see more on the internal but if it worries you, I?d refuse and wait x

Ronshar ? hon, I know it won?t change the outcome of what will be but I hope you are resting up and being kind to yourself as that will make a big difference to how you feel about things and how you cope with the time in between. Sorry it?s now clots, no pain though? That?s still a really good sign xx

Wow Goingfor3 I know nothing how are you hon? You ok?

Just got my date today for my 36week scan ? 20/12 day before mat leave ? I just can?t imagine being 36 weeks.

Mich10 · 12/10/2007 13:48

Goingfor3,

That great news. As I'm slightly better informed this time, I'll maybe just go for the forceful approach and see how that works out.

ronshar · 12/10/2007 13:49

Wow 36 weeks. Good luck to you lady. The time will fly by and before you know it you will be holding the most precious gift in your arms.

MrsMcSpooky · 12/10/2007 13:50

Sorry should have said - I have my halloween "outfit" on!

Mich10 · 12/10/2007 13:51

Mrs McSpooky,

I'm in the North East of England.

I don't know whether their reluctance was due to the fact that I was already spotting and they were very "what will be will be",about the whole thing.

I said at that time, I didn't want an internal but they managed to make me feel like a spoiled 6 yr old.

MrsMcSpooky · 12/10/2007 13:54

I can totally understand why you didn't want an internal scan when you were already bleeding, I'm surprised they put you through that. Hope your experience this time round is really different

goingfor3 · 12/10/2007 14:10

MrsMcSpooky I'm just feeling very sorry for myself at the moment. The dr I saw on wednesday doesn't think the measles caused the mc but the stitch did. It has really upset me as the stitch was my security and it has been taken away. He has given me a choice of having regular scan or having another stitch and either way there is a risk. I have decided to go for the scans to checked my cervix isn't funneling but every week until I'm 34 weeks is gong to be very stressfula dn also exhausting having to make the frequent trips. I'm trying my best to feel hopeful and I certainly feel like I'm being very well looked after. I have another scan in 3 1/2 weeks so hopefully baby will still be there!

gingercat12 · 12/10/2007 14:21

Mich10 I am also in the North East of England, and it is hard to get an early scan. But I heard that maybe Babybond does it privately... In fact Spugs had one privately done in the RVI in Newcastle.

I am waiting for my 20-week scan (next THU), and my Scottish friend did not understand why I have a scan now. Turns out she was only offered a 12-week scan. Everything was fine, so she does not "need" another one. Scans seem a real postcode lottery to me.

Hi to everyone else!!!!

Mich10 · 12/10/2007 14:30

Thanks gingercat12,

I had never heard of Babybond but I've just googled them and I'm going to give them a call. I'll happily pay for some peace of mind.

I'm also Scottish, maybe being down here and getting scanned more often will be a godsend in the long term.

I hope your 20 week scan goes OK.
