ellie- fab fab news!

missworry- great news! I feel exactly the same, like I can't really let myself believe it until that 12 week mark.

bouncingturtle- poor you- glue ear sounds painful and that rash plain annoying. Hope it isn't getting you down.

Mrsmc- lovely to see you back, glad you had a good holiday. Your book has been a lucky talisman for me but I am slowly starting to feel positive about this pregnancy so it is only fair of me to pass on the luck to someone else! Thank you so much for the loan, I found the book very very helpful. I haven't 'met' rahrah but I know of her from lurking around so will get in contact xx

LorLa · 09/10/2007 19:30

Hi everyone,
I hope you don't mind me asking you all this but I am 8 weeks pg after a mc in May. I have been feelin g really nauseous for about a week but the past couple of days I've been getting lower back ache and today I am not feeling sick anymore. I have taken Friday off to go to the ECU and try to get an early scan but I just wondered what the consensus is - is this a bad sign do you think?

DH is away at the moment so I'm driving myself frantic with worry.

Thanks.

DonDons · 09/10/2007 19:40

Evening all.. had a few days away from home and I really missed you guys! Torres and Hama - yay yay yay! Am so pleased!

Welcome back MrsMc!

Welcome to the newbies!

LorLa - I also had alot of lower back pain int he early weeks - are you spending alot time sitting at a desk/in a car? It could just be form that. MS comes and goes so please try not to worry. Have you had any major abdominal pain? Fingers crossed for you.

Just spent 2 days with a bunch of people I don't know trying to think of reasons I look so green and keep needing to pee/puke whilst wearing a big scarf to cover my emerging bump - hilarious! NOw where's the chocolate?

MerlinsBeard · 09/10/2007 19:44

LorLa, if you search my messages, you sound like me!

I had lower back ache and my symptoms came and went like i don't know what. its likely to be the position you sit in causing you back ache.

Spugs, you may well be feeling movements like bubbles bursting?

miss worry...congratulations on making the 12 week marker

ellieG...great news about your scan...how many weeks now?

LorLa · 09/10/2007 20:00

I knew you would all make me feel better!

DonDons - No I haven't had any abdominal pains - I ntice the tiniest twinge but no pain! My mc started with spotting last time then followed by back ache and abdominal pain - so the fact that I have 1 of these three is freaking me out a bit. It's a nightmare after a mc - I'm so paranoid!

Thanks mumofmonsters - I do sit at a desk all day long. I usually walk to work but have been getting the bus instead recently - if I coyuld wrap myself in cotton wool I would. I also spend a lot of my evenings at the computer chatting to friends so maybe that's it. I do sit badly as well (as I type I have my legs crossed on the chair.

Fingers crossed for Friday then.

Thanks - you've made me feel better.

MerlinsBeard · 09/10/2007 20:22

thats what this thyread is for LorLa

meant to add that ik am only 17 weeks so still a loooong way to go yet but the forst 12 weeks is DEFFO the slowest!

daisyandbabybootoo · 09/10/2007 20:30

rubles, i missed your post....Big Congratulations and ouch on the being told not to push. I had a similar experience with DS.....easy for them to say don't push when your body is telling you to do just that with all the might you can muster.

I hope things are going well and you are looking after yourself as your birth sounds like it wil be harder to recover from.

Isla is such a lovely name. It was on my list of names, as DS has a scottish name too (I'm from Fife), but I was outvoted by the boys...boo hiss.

Well Done You and congrats to you and your family

LorLa · 09/10/2007 20:32

God I know! I have been planning to go to the EPU on Monday for ages - doctor told me I wouldn't get an early scan just because I've had 1 mc, so he said to tell them I've been having pains to get a scan. Typical - now I actually have pains! But I've decided to go on Friday now (waiting through the keekend would drive me mad. I'm prepared to put up with anything if my baby is ok but the back pain has been worrying me in case something is wrong. If all is ok I then have to wait another 5 weeks until the 12 week scan. May have to do a "DH............please can we go for a private scan"!!!

Thanks again, fingers crossed x

Jossiejump · 09/10/2007 21:18

Have posted on pregnancy asking for advice on transverse lie at 33 weeks-can anyone hep?

Jossiejump · 09/10/2007 21:19

Meant help, not hep-sorry!

flosspot · 10/10/2007 10:01

Morning all- been hiding out for last few days as this is when I lost the last one. In all honesty I feel really weel- tired, hungry and melon-boobs, but that aside I feel great. But I woke with the complete certainty that I was going to mc and have spent the last three hours in tears. Feeling so wobbly and absolutely no basis forit....that's a symptom too, right?

I'm 6+5 and tempted to fake symptoms to get an early scan.....

torres · 10/10/2007 11:08

Hi Lorla, if you scroll down I posted something very similar over the weekend! I went to the epu on monday and thankfully everything was fine and hope it will be for you too. The nurse said it was common for symtoms to dip/tail off between 7 and 9 weeks, and also wasn't worried by my pains (mild abdominal and back pain). She said both were very common and only really a cause for concern if the pain was such it was unbearable. Good luck for friday!

Oh flosspot- sending you a big hug. Those melon boobs sound very encouraging! and so does the weepiness. Does your epu accept self referrals? I found having an early scan very reassuring (well 3 early scans in my case )

torres · 10/10/2007 11:10

dondons- like the sound of a scarf over your bump sounds very cosy!

ronshar · 10/10/2007 11:18

Morning ladies, may I join you?

EllieG invited me so if I get on your nerves blame EllieG. Ps congrats on your excellent scan. Was Elliebean picking his/her nose. Both my DDs were good at performing for the camera!!

I think I am 4+6 today so still really early. Not getting too excited. Boobs massive though so thats good.
When can you beg/ ask for a scan. Do you have to fake symptoms, not too much of a problem but dont want to tempt fate iykwim?

EllieG · 10/10/2007 11:33

Hey ronshar! Lovely to see you. I rang up my epu and told them how anxious I was, but also said it felt like my symptoms were dying down, so that was enough for them. See if works for you lady, may as well give it a try.

flosspot - weepiness defo symptom. I was HORRIBLE for a bit, all grumpy and crying at the littlest thing and convinced everything was going horribly wrong. Try not to worry lady it all sounds positive x

jossiejump - I don't know what that is, but sure someone else will, so keep trying and best of luck x

nh101 · 10/10/2007 13:57

Hey Ronshar! So glad you made it girl. Now for the weeks of worrying . I am 6+2 today and convinced it will be bad news at the scan on Monday.

My EPU will scan anyone who has had a previous MC which is such a big relief but you wonder whether it really is the best use of resources as the scan doesn't make the PG more likely to be successful it just puts your mind at rest (for 24 hours!). I had a friend who was treated terribly after a MC (but in a different NHS Trust to me) - I'd rather the poor ladies who have MC'd get looked after first before us worriers who probably (hopefully) will be all OK.

I'm not turning the scan down though!

goingfor3 · 10/10/2007 14:15

ronshar I wouldn't fake symptoms to get a scan, if the dr thinks you need one they will arrange one for you. I say this because I was in epu today and saw all of the seriously stressed women in there who really did need scans, my hospital is really strict and will only do them if really needed.

Janus · 10/10/2007 18:38

ronshar, I think it really depends where you live. I had a mc 2 years ago and so this time feel very anxious. I explained this to my doctor when I went to her when I was about 5+3 and she rang the epu and I was booked in for an early scan later that week. I think I did ask if it was possible but I in no way begged or made up any symptoms, just said I was worried and that was enough for her to refer me. I was 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat and they never made me feel as if I had wasted resources by going but did say unless I had any pain/bleeding they would recommend waiting until 12 weeks for next scan. Well, that's 2 weeks away (actually at 11 weeks) and I have resisted the urge to book a scan but felt if I really couldn't cope without one I would pay the £100 private price. Somehow I feel I've had my 'quota' on the NHS but that's me being sensitive! Good luck, I would just see your GP, be honest, and see what they say. I would hate to invest symptoms and then they come true, you'd feel awful.

Janus · 10/10/2007 18:39

that's meant to be 'invent' !!

ronshar · 10/10/2007 19:30

Janus I knew what you meant
I know I wont be inventing symptoms. I am being a little bit silly I think. I have managed to carry 2 successful pregnancies with no problems, so I should cope with this! It is hard though isnt it?

I'm sure we will all make it. Feeling positive now.

MrsMcJnr · 10/10/2007 21:09

Hey ladies not got much time to catch up but am so delighted to see all the good scans and to welcome Ronshar and all the other newbies!!

Woooozle100 · 10/10/2007 21:15

Just a quickie update off me - no longer grand dame of thread. jogs over to Glimmer whilst holding down boulder norks and hands over baton

Joel Emrys was born sunday morning after v quick labour, 2 weeks early. 7lb 9 oz. Not quite Mumpbump dramatics - I went to birth centre after an hour or so of contractions, was there 10 minutes, then transition and then about half hour or so bearing down and he was born. All calm and lovely till transition bit (natal hypnotherapy helped)then all v intense. But overall, couldn't have gone better.

In quite a tired daze right now so will write more another time. All the best to everyone. Loads of new people for me to ctach up with. Wishing you all the best. The first 14 weeks were absolutely horrible for me (was so anxious. I know I have a 50 / 50 chance of passing on potentially fatal chromosome arrangement - reason for my reacurring mc) Hope you all find this thread as supportive and encouraging as I did. Basil - good to see you back.

Lots of love x

EllieG · 10/10/2007 21:54

Hurray! And what a lovely name. Congratulations to you and Joel and Mr Ejb x

Bouncingturtle · 11/10/2007 08:20
