Hi @dixiedo hope you‘re ok! I didn‘t know there was a Facebook group, guess I missed it somewhere early on. Prefer to stay here for the time being anyway. Is it your first?

StephS1984 · 26/09/2020 10:14

Hi everyone

I’m not on the Facebook group either. Hope you are all doing well.

I’ve been away for the past week, but not been able to be as active and do as much as I had hoped, but was nice to get away and relax for a bit. I’m normally a big foodie, but this week, I have mainly been ordering off the children’s menus 🤣

I’m getting a bit worried about the Covid 19 restrictions and what it will mean for us once we have given birth. I know we will always be allowed a birth partner with us, but it’s whether family can come over and help once she is born, or if I will just be left on my own ( assuming hubby goes back to the office, now working from home again).

CoalCraft · 26/09/2020 10:23

Hi all hope everyone's keeping well. How much have you done so far in terms of getting stuff ready for baby's arrival? I've gotten about as far as putting the clothes I've been kindly given away in the drawer and that's it XD Still haven't actually bought anything but have had many kind donations.

An also a bit worried about labour in the covid times, but trying not to think about it. No point trying to predict the future so might as well see where we are when we get there.

Sunshinedahlia · 26/09/2020 13:21

I‘m quite worried about what will happen next year...I live abroad so it feels hideously complicated (2 countries‘ sets of rules to worry about 🤪). But as previous poster said, it‘s still a long way off. There‘s no way we can predict what the situation is going to be then, for better or worse. My OH gets 2 weeks off work, then he‘ll take 2 weeks holiday. Plus we have a great midwife who I adore, who will come and see us every day. So I‘m feeling good about the first month. I don‘t have enough brain capacity to worry about anything more than that!

In terms of buying stuff, we have everything apart from the pram, carseat and a wearable carrier. I‘m a control freak and having as much organised as possible has made me feel much better.

mumsofboys · 26/09/2020 20:33

@StephS1984 I've already made a plan, I have one person aka a bubble person my MIL who will have my son for me when I go into labour and will also be around to help etc if need be. Partners here also have half an hour after birth so I've got that in my head for hubby.

If I'm honest, I don't want all family and everyone in and around a baby who has no immune system, no injection to protect him from anything etc. There will be no cuddles if it's like this. Just have to boss it with a 1yr old and newborn alone in the days 💪🏼

@CoalCraft ive done everything 🤣 wanted to get all the clothes out the loft and wash and dry then whilst it was sunny. Snuzpod rebuilt and up. Literally everything baby wise is ready 🤣 bought a double buggy too 🤪

Pinkpaintlover · 27/09/2020 08:10

Wow @mumsofboys well done for being so organised. I’ve just got the clothes down and they are currently sitting in a pile!! So cute seeing the newborn bits again 🥰

Feeling fairly good energy level wise so going to try make the most of it while I can! Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Pol96 · 27/09/2020 09:19

I'm getting carried away with getting baby bits, I just don't want to go in to another lockdown and delivery to become a problem, so we're already got our travel system and next to me crib as well as a bunch of clothes etc.. I love buying things for him! Got given a massive bag of clothes for him yesterday so going to sort through it all today.. How much new born size clothes do you reckon I need? Most of the stuff I have so far is 0-3 months with a few 0-1 and newborn.. X

Pinkpaintlover · 27/09/2020 09:58

@Pol96 we didn’t need that much really looking at what I’ve got. Probs about 10 in reborn size. They grow out of newborn so quickly! But we didn’t have a sicky baby which did help

Pol96 · 27/09/2020 10:19

@Pinkpaintlover that's what I thought about them growing out of newborn so fast! Thank you 😊 will buy a few more newborn bits and hopefully that will be enough! If he's a sicky baby I'll just have to send oh out to get more when we know!

mumsofboys · 27/09/2020 12:24

@Pinkpaintlover I really hate using the tumble for baby clothes 🤣 so try and avoid it! That's what I've found the newborn/0-3 clothes are lovely condition. Not sure the 18m clothes will make it to the loft 🤪

@Pol96 this is why I've gone for nappies already. I remember a lady crying in Asda heavily pregnant because there were no nappies back in March!

Pol96 · 27/09/2020 14:58

@mumsofboys yeah I have a few packs of nappies and wipes already.. Have just sorted through all the clothes we have as we were given a massive bag.. Omg we have so much! 😂

PopsicleHustler · 27/09/2020 16:18

Hello, we already have 2 daughters and expecting the 3rd girl, so have tonnes of things already so I am sorted. Just need to sort out a chest of drawers for baby and nappies and we are done. Easy peasy

mumsofboys · 28/09/2020 16:27

Does anyone know the name of the fb page?

dixiedo · 28/09/2020 17:59

@Sunshinedahlia no this is my third. Biggish age gap feel like it's my first though.

I have bought everything to be honest. Apart from a bath and some bits. All the big stuff though. We have a lot going on so it was best to get it out the way.

Currently sat on the maternity assessment unit. I have a bad cold and the GP sent me to the midwives who have sent me here. I am having palpitations and numb hands and arms ???
Not sure what it is. I think it's just my cold. Last place I need to be to be honest.

I feel so nervous about the birth too. My hospital are letting partners come in at 4cm. Stay for two hours after birth. It's really sad isn't it.

@mumsofboys I don't know sorry as not on Facebook but there's another January thread on here that I have seen maybe for some more traffic XX

Sunshinedahlia · 28/09/2020 19:29

@dixiedo oh no! How rubbish! What happened? I‘m also having heart palpitations, but no cold thankfully. My midwife and obgyn told me it’s normal :0/

Partners can only stay 2 hours! Fingers crossed that changes by the time you have to go.

I was at pregnancy aqua fit this evening, was really funny. Highly recommend.

dixiedo · 28/09/2020 19:38

I would love to go to a pregnancy class there doesn't seem to be anything around here on !
I know I think it's normal and they just sent me to be cautious. I feel like I'm wasting everyone's time which has made me feel emotional.
I just want to go to bed now it's a head cold I think x

mumsofboys · 28/09/2020 20:16

@dixiedo I've literally just joined it and said there were 2 threads and did anyone know about the fb page. Be a shame if we can't find it 🤔

kim160790 · 28/09/2020 20:29

@mumsofboys it's called lockdown girls. It will ask you a question on how you heard about it and the answer is Mumsnet. There's so many posts a day and it's been really good so far 😊 x

mumsofboys · 28/09/2020 20:32

@kim160790 I just searched lockdown girls after finding old posts but nothing came up, could you possibly send a link at all please! 🤞🏼

kim160790 · 28/09/2020 20:33

kim160790 · 28/09/2020 20:36
