Anyone else got their 20 week scan this week? Ours is on Wednesday. I can't wait

MarvEll · 24/08/2020 13:06

@BabyG123 @Pol96 I'm near Chelmsford so not far!

@MeganC104 mine's this week too!

I've been feeling definite wiggles and movement for a couple of weeks now, getting stronger and one big kick. Whilst it's definitely reassuring (and obviously good news), it kinda freaks me out a bit! Reminds me of having an upset stomach or something.

I guess it also makes me feel like my body is being taken over by something else, especially as my tummy is starting to pop out too. And I think my boobs are leaking sometimes at night, so all in all when I think about it too much it's all a bit strange and overwhelming. Don't think I'm going to be a glowing beautiful totally in my element pregnant person, more a bit unnerved by all the unusual things my body is doing!! 😄

Sunshinedahlia · 24/08/2020 13:08

I‘ve got mine 2 weeks early as my gynacologist will be away for a few weeks: it‘s this evening! I‘m 17+5. really hoping we can find out the gender 🤞

MissHoney85 · 24/08/2020 13:13

@MarvEll I know exactly what you mean! Pre pregnancy I was really looking forward to experiencing my body changing and thought I'd just embrace it all. Now it's happening I'm much more freaked out by the changes and perceived loss of control than I thought I would be. Hopefully once I have a proper bump rather than just looking a bit fat, and can feel the baby more I will start to relax about it a bit.

Scan on Friday for me. I'm really nervous about it. I've been feeling a few movements but then quiet for a day or even two in between, which is a bit unnerving...

TerribleImagination · 24/08/2020 13:57

I’ve got mine on Friday too, I’ll be 20+5.

MeganC104 · 24/08/2020 14:22

@MissHoney85 I'm the same. I can feel flutters and pressure mildly but there's often huge gaps between feeling them. Sometimes a few days. I'm 19 weeks +5 today and first pregnancy

MissHoney85 · 24/08/2020 14:50

@MeganC104 that's really reassuring to hear! I'm pretty much exactly the same gestation and it's my first too. It seems like it's so different for everyone, I'm trying not to read too much into it. It's hard not to compare though!

BabyG123 · 24/08/2020 16:44

@MarvEll not at all I was there today! Small world

Just found out we‘re having a girl! 🥰

Maxdoggy · 24/08/2020 20:15

@Sunshinedahlia big congrats! Lovey !!

BabyG123 · 24/08/2020 20:38

Random question- how 'careful' are you being?

We see the same friends and the same family. We get out and about or id go insane!!!!!

I never go to gatherings that involve being inside with people. Everything is outside which will be fun in the rain this week.

Just curious really am I doing too much?

OP posts:
Sunshinedahlia · 24/08/2020 21:03

Thank you @Maxdoggy ! Really exciting!

@BabyG123 we‘re only seeing people outside. Both working from home. Avoiding very crowded places but still going shopping for food or other things we need so long as shop isn‘t crowded. Avoiding public transport.

Maxdoggy · 24/08/2020 21:10

@BabyG123 I’m following all the rules and only really doing outdoor stuff; a lot if my friends are from my running club anyway so we’re basically just running together.
BUT... I’m a teacher (secondary) and back in work on Tuesday, where I’ll be interacting with about 140 students per week so.......

Pol96 · 25/08/2020 10:43

I'm back to work next Thursday and was just wondering if any of you work with early years (2-4) and what precautions, if any your setting is putting in to place for covid? I'll be 20 weeks exactly the day we go back. Obviously there's no social distancing or ppe in preschool.. Thanks! X

BabyG123 · 25/08/2020 10:47

Thanks ladies

@Pol96 I work with children too. We are only vulnerable in the third trimester but even then that isn't a thing now.
Basically nothing in place!

OP posts:
Pol96 · 25/08/2020 11:15

Thanks @BabyG123 how do you feel about nothing being in place?

Maxdoggy · 25/08/2020 11:41

@Pol96 @BabyG123
We have had no communication from the school at all regarding health and safety measures in place. I think the parents have but it’s all on the grapevine...

Bubbabee · 25/08/2020 12:33

Hey ladies, on Saturday myself and my partner felt our baby girl move for the first time together. It was amazing. It has definitely relaxed me... only slightly haha. How are you all doing
20+6

MissHoney85 · 25/08/2020 12:35

@Pol96 @BabyG123 @Maxdoggy I'm a Reception teacher. I'm due a call with Occupational Health this week and had a chat with my HT this morning. It looks like they will advise me to work from home from 28 weeks, so basically after the first half term. I'm still nervous about going back into the classroom for those 7 weeks. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't in Reception where social distancing is impossible. But I'm also aware that if I don't go in, they will have to get a random supply teacher until they can recruit my cover and that will not be good for the children or my colleagues. So much guilt! I wish someone would just tell me what to do.

Pol96 · 25/08/2020 12:51

Thanks @MissHoney85 and @Maxdoggy I'm meeting up with the whole team to meet the new manager and discuss the new term tomorrow so hoping I can't find out a bit more about what we have in place, if anything.. As far as I know we're just not allowing parents in.

@Bubbabee my dp felt our little boy move for the first time yesterday, was such a nice moment! 💙 Feeling him most days now at 18+5 (I do have a posterior placenta so I think that's why I'm feeling him)

BabyG123 · 25/08/2020 13:05

@Pol96 there isn't much I can do about it. Guidance is relaxed now so we haven't got a battle!

@MissHoney85 I live that you're a teacher in reception #matilda we've been teaching the children aeroplane arms to distance but it's hard to enforce it.

@BabyG123 ha yes I was looking at a picture of Miss Honey I was given by one of my old students when I had to think of a name! Teacher goals. The thought of being back in school with 30 children just stresses me out so much. Especially at the start of the year, they need so much physical comfort. I can see it making me really anxious.

Baba11 · 25/08/2020 16:04

Hi ladies
Hope your all well.
I understand the stress about returning to school!
I had my 20wk scan today, all is ok.
Baby was in an awkward position so she kept on pressing on really hurt.
I Was surprised how low the baby was!

Maxdoggy · 25/08/2020 23:07

Hi guys,

Quick question...
I received a letter today for my 25 week appointment (21st sept) which says it’ll be a telephone appt. On the NHS website it says the purpose of this appt is to measure my uterus growth and test urine for protein. I’m wondering how this is possible over the phone...

I’m also wondering whether this means I won’t actually see anyone or have any growth measurements done until my next scan at 37 weeks? I don’t want to make a fuss but am a bit concerned by this..?!?!
