20 week scan done and dusted! Baby all well, sonographer "didn't see anything to make her think boy" so we are assuming girl XD

SunSparkle · 18/08/2020 18:45

I think today I've started to feel some movements. Feels more than just gas movement or something. I'm 16+5 so I know it could be a bit early. I don't have a lot of a bump (I have some fair padding around my stomach anyway) so I'm hoping it is movements as that's so reassuring to me as I was really nervous before.

CoalCraft · 18/08/2020 19:07

I first started feeling tiny movements around then @SunSparkle ! And I apparently have an anterior placenta

Carabu1 · 18/08/2020 21:33

So I finally had my 20 week scan today, at 21+ weeks...! Worth the wait as everything was looking good - I was so nervous. Weird to see baby flipping and kicking but I still can’t feel it at all. Reassured after today it will come though. And resisted the urge to find out the sex!!

Maxdoggy · 18/08/2020 22:09

@Carabu1 Glad it went well ! Mine was today too and I was very nervous also! I’d planned to have a surprise gender-wise too, but it turns out there wasn’t much choice as baby kept his/her legs crossed! Grin

I wasn’t sure I was feeling any movement either (am 20+4 now) and was starting to worry. BUT the midwife explained to me yesterday that an anterior placenta means the movements are a lot harder to feel until about 25 weeks. Do you have this too? If you’re not sure check your report from the scan- it should be on there Smile

Carabu1 · 18/08/2020 22:14

@Maxdoggy so glad it went well! Hoping a surprise for our first will be nice, even if it means agreeing on two names...! Re: movement, that’s reassuring. I do have an anterior placenta, and they did say that means it takes longer to feel it. I’m going to wait til 24 weeks I think and then raise it again if I’m still not feeling anything. Equally, as a ftm I don’t really know what I’m feeling for....which probably doesn’t help!

Maxdoggy · 18/08/2020 22:23

Oh this is so true ! I’m ftm too so no idea what I’m doing!
A good friend is 32 weeks now and said it was only in hindsight (once she got to about 25 weeks) that she was able to look back and realise that she’d felt movement since 19 weeks. She just thought it was gas Grin
I’m kind of in the same place as her- could be baby, but could be the disgustingly large dinner I just ate...

PercyThrower · 19/08/2020 07:56

The first movements to me felt like a butterfly or a gentle bubbling, but even the second time around i find it hard to know for sure that that is what it is rather than just my tummy.

I'm glad all the scans are going well. I'm a bit later than some of you. We're going to find the sex this time if baby is cooperative.

Is anyone on MA rather than SMP? I'm trying to do our finances and wondering when to trigger it.

MeganC104 · 19/08/2020 08:58

Hi guys, 19 weeks today and still tiny in the bump department. Does this seem normal?

Katerinakaterinaki · 19/08/2020 09:34

Morning all, I'm also 19 weeks today!
Finally started feeling definite movements from around 18 weeks, gentle kicks /pushing and some I can actually feel from the outside!

My bump is only just coming through , @MeganC104 similar to yours. In many clothes I think it's ambiguous I'm even pregnant, can't believe I'm almost half way!

The main thing I've noticed in the past week is that my whole abdomen has really firmed up and if I gently lean backwards the area in the middle just under my ribs sort of pops out a bit (hard to explain but I can feel it and see it in the mirror that it looks different), I think it's my organs making space for the growing baby GrinHmm

CoalCraft · 19/08/2020 09:57

Lovely to hear about everyone's scans, it's so exciting!!

I thought my bump was coming along quite well but today I saw someone in work who I haven't seen since lockdown and told her about the pregnancy and she said "oh, you can't tell at all!" Clearly genuinely surprised, so I guess it's not as obvious as I thought! Grin

19+6 today, Baby Bee is being a massive wriggler despite my anterior placenta!

Bubbabee · 19/08/2020 15:25

Hey mummies, I had my 20week scan today. All is looking perfect baby girl was being a diva and wouldn't get a photo haha. Found out I have and anterior placenta so that's why I'm not feeling any movements just yet. Had to have a internal scan also as the sonographer thought my placenta was too low and by the opening of my womb. Thankfully not. I am worried I may bleed now due to my ectropion. Even tho I know the cause of bleeding it's still scary. Was so lovely to see her and amazing looking at all her little organs xx

Bubbabee · 19/08/2020 15:26

Also 20 weeks today 💗

IshaPoet · 20/08/2020 09:46

Morning ladies

The hospital called and cancelled my appointment apparently they want to do my 16 week over the phone with a consultant and I don't get to have a scan 😕 I did call back and ask why but heard no good reason.

Does anyone go to King George's Hospital or Queens Hospital in Essex bcos I may just have to book a private scan instead but having to get someone to watch the kids will be a struggle 🥺😔

SpacePug · 20/08/2020 10:24

Hi! I've somehow only just seen this thread. I am due 2nd January and have my 20 week scan tomorrow 🎉

BabyG123 · 20/08/2020 11:17

@IshaPoet I'm essex but not those hospitals.

All of my appointments are on the phone except the usual scans 12 weeks and 20. I'm having private ones though.

Hope you don't mind me joining! 😊

I'm due in January and we've paid for a private scan next week so DH can come. Thing is, I'm so anxious at the minute for it! Until I see everything is okay, I'll be stressing.

Any tips on easing my worries?! 😊

Pol96 · 20/08/2020 11:25

@BabyG123 is it your private scan today? Good luck if it is!

@YellowB33 I have a private scan on Saturday and I'm stressing too, so also would appreciate any tips!

StephS1984 · 20/08/2020 13:42

Hi everyone

Hope you are all doing well. For anyone that has had an nhs 20 week scan, do you know if we have to go with a full bladder?

I have my vaccination and check up with the hospital midwifes before the scan, whereas for 12 week scan it was immediately after the scan, so got a loo break in between.

Really looking forward to the scan tomorrow.

20+2

dixiedo · 20/08/2020 14:50

@StephS1984 my scan letter said 1.5 PT water an hour before. I went in with the full bladder and she had me empty half way to get baby to move. Xx

OhSoCherished · 20/08/2020 18:54

@StephS1984 I got to the hospital with a full bladder but had a long wait so I emptied and started again, no issues.

If you have some water once you get to the hospital you should be okay.

StephS1984 · 21/08/2020 13:02

@OhSoCherished and @dixiedo thanks for your advice. I had my scan this morning and went with a moderately full bladder. Little baby was very shy and curled up, so was a rather long scan, with me having to empty my bladder part way through to encourage little baby to move ( it didn’t), then a 20 min walk and sugary snack. Finally, little baby moved and the scan could be completed and we are having a little girl. I found this really stressful today, so having a rest this afternoon. Hope everyone’s scan today go well xx

BabyG123 · 21/08/2020 13:25

@Pol96 good memory!

Private scan was last night.

Baby is footling breach so one foot by its head and on down straight into the vagina area 🤦🏻‍♀️

Umbilical chord was also between its legs

But after a packet of fruit pastels, some dancing and lots of walking they got the gender! (1.5 hours later) but we find out at the reveal tomorrow!

Not to mention- full balder needed so i nearly peed myself After 3 hours!!!

Pol96 · 21/08/2020 13:35

@BabyG123 how exciting!! Although I bet rather stressful trying to get it moving and a rather strange image on the scan if one foot was up and one down!
Where did you go for the scan? I'm going to wttw in Essex tomorrow and getting very impatient!
