We have also got the next 2 me, managed to bag that in the mothercare 60% off closing down sale at Christmas (which freaked me out as we still hadn't been for the 12 week scan!)

We've gone for the mamaroo rocker- my friend said that it was a godsend for her little one as you can set different motions on it such as car journey etc. However, I love the baby Bjorn and the more I look at it the more I wish I'd got it 😩

Planning on just using the pram cot for daytime sleeping as we have quite a small front room - is anyone else doing this or should I get a Moses basket too?

squashie34 · 29/06/2020 21:30

Oh and we have the bluebell monitor- it's one of those that you clip on to baby and it monitors movement, breathing, temperature, heart rate etc. It also comes with a watch for me that tracks my steps, breast feeding times, temperature etc. Totally over the top 🙄 but my partner is data mad and wanted to be able to analyse her sleep and know I'm ok etc, he paid so I didn't argue 😅

heroineinahalfshell · 29/06/2020 21:34

@squashie34 I'm also planning to just use the pram carry cot for daytime naps, and have a Next2Me for nighttime so not planning to get a moses basket.

Bouncers just all seem so expensive, I'm hoping to buy one off FB marketplace. Haven't bought a lot secondhand because of Covid, I would have got a lot more in different times.

Fig20 · 29/06/2020 21:35

Hey 👋🏼 I hope you don’t mind me jumping over from another thread. Currently 32 weeks and due 24th August 😊

I feel the same @squashie34. I’ve been trying to get a Multi Mam nipple cream since the start of lockdown as it’s hasn’t been stocked online. I ventured out to Boots for it the other day for the first time since lockdown and tried to get some essentials for labour (bits for hospital bag, TENS machine and some new pj’s). I had to give up as I felt very panicky as the retail park was full of people completely ignoring social distancing. I was looking forward to things getting better and being able to go shopping for things I can’t get online but I live in Leicester which is going back into lockdown tomorrow. What a time to be pregnant! :( Hope you ladies are all well 💕

cannotmakemymindup · 29/06/2020 21:38

@squashie34 I'm the same. Was possibly going to meet up with my sister, her kids and my parents in a national trust garden for a walk around and I can't bring myself to do it. I really want my daughter to just see a friend or two before we lockdown before birth as I really think she needs it but I am going to have to wait until my husband can meet up instead. I don't know how I am going to cope with holiday next week Hmm although I feel safer with DH I think. Thing is in pregnancy we all feel vulnerable anyway and trying to keep bump safe so this is an extension of it.

@Fig20 Welcome to the thread. Sorry you are in the extra lockdown that must feel worrying. Although at least they're doing it to keep everyone safer rather than just ignoring the potential problem rise.

@squashie34 I couldn't cope with a baby monitor that does keeps track of all that. It would make me paranoid. Last time we just had one where we could hear our daughter and it played lullabies all night.

KittyKat2020 · 29/06/2020 21:45

We brought the owlet monitor, £387 lighter now!

squashie34 · 29/06/2020 21:59

@KittyKat2020 I've heard really good things about the owlet monitor! It's the sock one isn't it?

@cannotmakemymindup this is what I've thought too about being constantly paranoid if alerts go off etc, but apparently my OH says on the app you can turn on what you want and keep off what you don't, so you can get it to an alert if they roll onto their side etc rather than any little movement . I just wanted one that would measure her temperature and the room temperature as this is my one worry with a summer baby. We are in a new build and it's SO hot when the weather is nice and I'm already fretting over sleeping togs etc

squashie34 · 29/06/2020 22:01

@Fig20 @cannotmakemymindup definitely agree about the protecting instinct coming in already - and I know what you mean about feeling safer when with your partner, I feel like this too. I don't think it will be long personally until other places have to lock down again too!

Fig20 · 29/06/2020 22:01

@cannotmakemymindup thank you 💕 yes that’s very true. I’m meant to be giving birth at UHCW in Coventry so hopefully the birthing centre etc will still be open as the ones in Leicester during the last lockdown. When this all started I was so sure things would be relatively normal by now.

@Flutterbunny I’m torn between getting an baby monitor off amazon for £30 or getting the BT 6000 as everyone raves about it. It’s £120 though! 👀👀

Anyone else had a massive gap between appointments (nearly 5 weeks) after their 28 week appointment? My next appointment will be at nearly 33 weeks. FTM so didn’t know if this is the norm 🤷🏽‍♀️

KittyKat2020 · 29/06/2020 22:06

@squashie34 yes it’s the sock one it’s got some amazing reviews so we decided as we’d saved a fair bit on the pram we’d have a bit of a spend on it

JMill13 · 29/06/2020 22:13

@squashie34 we're also planning on using the pram carrycot for daytime naps, MIL also got us a sleepyhead deluxe which I'll use only in the living room in the day time when either of us are there to watch baby as I've read too many horror stories of them but apparently amazing for helping babies sleep.

Welcome @fig20, hopefully the next lockdown doesn't last too long and the numbers come back down. Stay safe.

sel2223 · 29/06/2020 22:16

@Fig20 I had 28 then 33 weeks too. Next one is at 36+6 .

Fig20 · 29/06/2020 22:27

@JMill13 thank you 💕
@sel2223 I wasn’t sure if this was normal or just because of what’s going on as it seems like a long gap at this point. My friend had a baby in February and was having appointments every 2-3 weeks in the third trimester.

JMill13 · 29/06/2020 22:30

@fig20 I had 28 week at 29 weeks and then 31 weeks. Midwife told me at my 31 week appointment that I should have an appointment every 2 weeks now and if I don't get given any at the hospital I've to just call the community midwife team and get an appointment with them instead. Worth giving them a call to discuss it incase you've just fallen under the cracks a bit with covid. Although, I am aware different trust areas for across the entire UK have been functioning differently.

squashie34 · 29/06/2020 22:44

@Fig20 I'm also giving birth at UHCW Coventry too!! Small world!

Fig20 · 29/06/2020 22:49

@JMill13 that seems more reasonable. On the information sheet I was given at the start it said I should have one at 31 weeks. I’ll give them a call tomorrow to check 😊 I mentioned it to the nurse when I had my whooping cough vaccine and she didn’t seem concerned. My community midwives are in a different area to my hospital so there’s been a few crossed wires already with who is responsible for what and wrong information.

Fig20 · 29/06/2020 22:51

No way @squashie34! Very small world 😊 I’m hoping to give birth in the Lucina birth centre but who knows what will happen 😄

sel2223 · 29/06/2020 23:10

@Fig20 we've lost some appointments in my area because of covid so it became every 4 weeks instead of every 3 weeks then just a fortnight between the last few.

The 'new norm' in my area is 28, 32, 36, 38 and 40 so I think it works out 2 less appointments than pre-covid. Mine have ended up at 32+6 and 36+6 though because the midwife is only at my local surgery one day a week and that was when she could fit me in.

squashie34 · 29/06/2020 23:25

@Fig20 from what I understand Lucina has stayed open the whole time throughout lockdown so you should be ok! I'm consultant led so unfortunately it's the labour ward for me 😕

WorriedButterfly · 29/06/2020 23:34

Catching up and a bit behind. I feel you pain @squashie34 WRT the groin! Definitely worse moving in bed. I really don't want it to worsen as it will ruin the last few weeks. Sorry you had a horrible shopping experience - stay safe x

MotherofKitties · 30/06/2020 06:04

Your not alone in feeling like that @squashie34 When this all started I went for a walk and it was so busy I couldn't keep my distance, I completely panicked and ended up having an anxiety attack. I haven't left the house other than for MW appointments since.

It's hard but at least you know you're safe in the confines of your own home. I've had a few people go Hmm at me for not wanting to meet up or go out, but honestly, after that one time I tried to go for a walk, it just isn't worth it for me. I'd rather avoid the risk as much as possible. As none of my friends are/have been pregnant during the pandemic I think they just don't get it.

This is such a worrying time for any woman who is pregnant so I think we all just have to do what feels right for us so we can get our little ones safely here x

cannotmakemymindup · 30/06/2020 07:43

@MotherofKitties I think that's why these threads have worked so well. None of us have felt alone at this time or not had someone understand our concerns. I to haven't got any friends who are pregnant currently so I don't think they quite get it.

Hey ladies, I think I joined the last thread but never got involved in conversation or posted, recognise a few of your names from other posts though! I'm due August 15th, can't believe we will all be posting about our baby's and birth stories soon 😍 my pregnancy has FLOWN, anyone else?

WorriedButterfly · 30/06/2020 07:53

@CherryCreme welcome - the 15th is my birthday! I can confirm it's a good day 😊
