Ah good luck @Firstmummytobe.

That looks gorgeous @Beau2020.

squashie34 · 14/07/2020 21:09

@Beau2020 looks gorgeous!! Where is the playmat from?

squashie34 · 14/07/2020 21:10

Probably a random question, but which side do you put baby's car seat on?! Is there a better side than another? Going to put the isofix in at the weekend ready and realised I didn't have a clue!

JMill13 · 14/07/2020 21:15

@beau2020 😍 that is gorgeous!

@squashie34 everything I've read has said the middle seat, keeps car seat/baby safe from passenger airbags or something but I can't see that working in everybody's car. Oh doesn't think it'll fit in the middle seat of our Golf.

Havlerr · 14/07/2020 21:21

@Beau2020 omg that’s gorgeous!! We’re waiting to move house before doing up a nursery but I can’t wait, I’ve saved so many posts on insta for ideas haha.

@squashie34 We’ve put ours behind the passenger seat. Mainly so we can see baby easily (have put one of those mirrors in which will help with that) and also because that tends to be the pavement side when parking most of the time - according to the website I read when googling. Provided it’s attached securely and correctly though, surely it’s safe whichever backseat you put it in.

My first dark stretch marks have appeared this week Sad I’m trying not to be upset about them but it’s hard especially as they’re really angry purple. It started with a few under the bump and now are spreading to my hips, bottom of bump and even under my nipples Confused I still have 4 weeks left of pregnancy and even more if I go over 40 weeks so dreading what they’ll be like at the end!

Beau2020 · 14/07/2020 21:23

@squashie24 the playmat is from an online shop, if you search @mimibearshop on Instagram you should find it! So comfy

Thank you everyone! X

MamaFirst · 14/07/2020 21:24

@NewMama29 put a few drops in a bath. Essential oils can be very potent, so don't overdo it!

@WorriedButterfly I used ice cube bags, then you can control how much milk you actually want to defrost use and not waste any. Plus they lay flat in the freezer so they don't take up as much room as bulky containers. Night times are a pain. I typically drip so much milk early on, I still collect it with the Haakaa but then just pour it down the sink. I don't tend to bottle feed at all though, so I don't really need the expressed milk.

@Bert2020 what a gorgeous room, I love it!

@Firstmummytobe Great update, I've been thinking of you today! Best of luck tonight!!

@squashie34 either side! If I'm driving and alone with the baby, I like the baby opposite so that I can see them. But either is fine Smile

MaisieMolly · 14/07/2020 21:54

@Firstmummytobe how exciting! Hang in there, not long now until you meet your little prince 💙

@Beau2020 that’s gorgeous! We’re definitely not that organised and haven’t got a cot yet as baby will be in with us in a side sleeper for a few months so haven’t got around to it!

WorriedButterfly · 14/07/2020 22:07

That is beautiful @Beau2020 💛

Excited for you @Firstmummytobe! Sending positivity. 😊

Thank you for all the milk storage suggestions!

WorriedButterfly · 14/07/2020 22:08

@squashie34 I think they suggest passenger side so the driver can keep their chair in the correct position.

cannotmakemymindup · 14/07/2020 22:08

@Firstmummytobe Ooh glad it's all progressing for you.

For anybody with the breast milk it doesn't have to be refrigerated straight away thankfully. It can sit for 6 hours at room temperature, 6 days in the fridge (not in the door) and 6 months in the freezer. So if you do end up with any in the night say at 2am it could go in freezer at 8am and be fine.

@Firstmummytobe Good luck! So excited for you!

@Beau2020 Beautiful nursery! I have the last piece for ours coming today (my mother made it and is dropping it off after work) aside from hanging some things on the walls and putting the crib together. Since baby will be in a cosleeper at first we're not rushing the crib, as it's being repainted to match the rest of the room. So excited to have it all together.

In other news had some soft stools (sorry tmi) today and baby boy has been noticeably less active than normal. Not enough to worry me but compared to his usual constant gymnastics he's definitely seemed chilled out all day. Might just be wishful thinking but hoping it means things are about to get going

squashie34 · 14/07/2020 23:29

My other half has just asked me what he should wear to the hospital for the birth and whether he should wear chino trousers and a shirt 😳 he really has no idea what awaits him... 🙄😂

Firstmummytobe · 15/07/2020 01:14

@squashie34 right now my partner is that is a pair of shorts and no t-shirt. This hospital is BEYOND too hot😳🥵

Firstmummytobe · 15/07/2020 01:16

Thanks again everybody!! Was supposed be being taken to delivery suite from induction suite at 10pm and still waiting, trying my best not to fall asleep incase they miss me out 😂🙈

sel2223 · 15/07/2020 09:13

@Firstmummytobe how are you getting on?

Havlerr · 15/07/2020 12:09

@squashie34 that’s adorable haha maybe he wants to make a good first impression with the baby!😂😂 I’ve just packed swimming trunks And a spare pair of boxers for DH, didn’t really bother with clothes as I’m hoping to be in the midwife led unit that has a maximum time limit of 6 hours.

@Firstmummytobe good luck lovely xx

squashie34 · 15/07/2020 12:36

@Havlerr I just rolled my eyes.. he's been so blasé about the whole thing whenever I've been trying to get him reading about the birth and then he genuinely asks me what to wear and thinks a shirt is a good idea 🙄🙈 clearly has visions it's like going out for dinner apparently 😳 I hope you manage to get your midwife led birth, that's quite a short timescale isn't it!

@Firstmummytobe hope all is going well and you're down on the delivery ward now!

Newmama29 · 15/07/2020 12:40

@squashie34 my DP done the same! I said I will have an outfit picked out for him & will sit it with my hospital bag so he knows exactly where it is 🤦🏼‍♀️ Men!

@Firstmummytobe hope all is going well! Can’t wait to hear an update 💙

Beau2020 · 15/07/2020 14:17

@squashie34 haha that made me laugh! My OH is the exact same, so blase😆 I clearly don't think it's sunk in for them yet that they have another human arriving very shortly!!

Superscientist · 15/07/2020 15:00

I have packed my partner a clean t shirt and a change of underwear. He says he won't need them as it will all be done with before he needs a change of clothes. Not sure if that says more about how frequently he changes his clothes or how long he expects child birth to take! My thoughts are if the wards are as hot as everyone says he might want a change of clothes even if we aren't in for that long just to freshen up. At least if they ar packed he has the choice.

He has mentioned bringing his work laptop with him..... I can't work out if he is joking!

MamaFirst · 15/07/2020 15:19

Ladies this is cracking me up, haha! I think I'd murder dh if he got his work laptop out whilst I'm in labour!
I still need to pack my bags...

BabyG08 · 15/07/2020 15:26

So I’ve just been to see the midwife, 36+1 today and he’s now breech! I have a growth scan next week anyway so hopefully he’s turned by then. Midwife told me to put the bags in the car just in case 😳 it’s getting very real now ladies!

Hope you’re doing okay @Firstmummytobe

squashie34 · 15/07/2020 15:50

@Superscientist oh gosh can you imagine if he isn't joking 😂😆 I hope you exercise your full pregnant lady rights and throw it out his bag!

When I had to go into the labour triage Sunday night for blood tests for high blood pressure, I was sat back in the waiting room outside the labour ward delivery doors waiting for the results about 10pm, when two men walked up to the reception desk with a kebab (smelt like a kebab you would get after a great night out too rather than a healthy Turkish one 😆) they didn't speak much English but were trying to get onto the ward to give it to someone from their family and the receptionist had to keep telling them that no visitors were allowed. Next minute, the man comes to the door and says 'thanks for this I'm starving', takes the kebab and goes back onto the labour ward. His poor/wife must have been getting ready to push and he would be sitting in the corner chomping on a kebab! It smelt so strong too 👀 who doesn't that!
