Morning everyone! Do any of your babies seem to get hiccups a lot? The last few days my little lady seems to be hiccuping multiple times in a day. She’s kicking and rolling around as normal as well, so I’m not too worried. I’m going to mention it to the midwife when I next see her, but thought I’d ask you guys as well. Google brings up various things (most worryingly that it can indicate a cord problem) but I haven’t found anything on the NHS website, which I tend to believe as the most reliable source.

Morning ladies
Its all starting to feel very real now that some of you having inductions/sections planned! Good luck to you all.

I've just been on a dog walk for over an hour and my hands have proper swollen, they're massive, itchy and tingly, so weird.

34 week appointment yesterday and all is well, heartbeat has been pretty steady throughout the entire pregnancy at about 135bpm each time. They are also still measuring on the 50th centile so hasn't deviated off that line once which is good to hear. Midwife said if he/she continues to grow that way I'm looking at an 8lb+ baby at birth.

squashie34 · 11/07/2020 11:44

@mable88 All the time!! Within 10 minutes of me eating, baby has the hiccups 😂 I too also googled it and worried it was to go with the cord get tangled but the midwife said hiccups are a good thing because they show the baby is swallowing the fluid which is helping her practice swallowing!

Camia · 11/07/2020 11:45

@mable88 Mine gets hiccups all the time too, he has for long as I've been able to feel them. I read that hiccups help strengthen their lungs so I figured it was a good sign, haven't heard the cord thing. Definitely check with your midwife if you're worried though, it never hurts to be careful

squashie34 · 11/07/2020 11:46

@mable88 and I'm the same, my anxiety was getting ridiculous when I googled anything as I'd always focus on the worst thing I read, so I've made a pact with myself to only stay on the NHS website if I need to know anything or ask on here ☺️

trinajade · 11/07/2020 12:03

Is anyone other ladies really suffering with feeling really bruised and achy between the legs? This is my third baby and I've never had this before. Its making these last few weeks hurrendous and I've never not enjoyed pregnancy before. Its worse in bed at night turning over is agony 😩 my midwife just said its ligaments when I mentioned it to her but I can't even imagine pushing a baby out when my toot already hurts this much 🙈 x

Newmama29 · 11/07/2020 12:17

@trinajade I’ve felt this way for the last few weeks with increased pain in my hips too! I can’t get in & out the car it’s so painful! I’ve read that you should try to keep your legs as close together as you can whilst getting in & out of bed, car etc as it’s just all the muscles & ligaments pulling to get ready for pushing baby out. I’ve also read that a water birth is good for this as it’s weightless & you should be wary of opening your legs too wide when giving birth too

My hips feel fine it's just right down below its awful isn't it 😩 I don't even think my legs close anymore I'm always sat with my legs so wide apart nowadays 😂 I would love a waterbirth but my chances are slim because I never seem to make it to hospital in time x

Newmama29 · 11/07/2020 12:28

@trinajade it’s awful! I have the midwife this week so going to talk to her about it to see if there’s anything I can do. I find rolling around on the birthing ball for an hour or 2 a night does take the pressure off a bit! But even sitting on the toilet is painful now 🙈

MamaFirst · 11/07/2020 13:04

@trinajade aw bless you, it's the pressure I think. I got this a lot with my third baby too, it is really uncomfortable. I'm 33 weeks with my fourth and not too bad so far.

mable88 · 11/07/2020 13:58

Fab, thanks all - I will stop worrying about the hiccups in that case Smile xx

cannotmakemymindup · 11/07/2020 13:59

I have a very hiccupy baby to but my first was to and still is a hiccupy child Grin six years later.

Can Braxton hicks be made worse with stress? Have been struggling with them badly over the last couple of weeks. Not painful but feels like I'm getting the life squeezed out of me.

Mummapenguin20 · 11/07/2020 19:11

Im not sure but today ive had a miagrain and my bh have been none stop so maybe the pain/stress makes them worse x

MamaFirst · 11/07/2020 19:40

@sugarplumfairy2010 hmm I'm not sure. I guess it must be able to though if you think logically. If stress is extreme enough to cause increased heart rate, that would almost mimic physical exercise, which ime definitely does bring on BH. I also get them more if I'm dehydrated which again could cause increased HR. They're awful aren't they! Can you dry to address what's causing your stress?

MamaFirst · 11/07/2020 19:43

So tonight I treated myself to a nice hot bath, and thought I'd give my legs some long overdue shaving attention. Well. That was an Olympic event! I gave myself heart burn and a workout in one.

JMill13 · 11/07/2020 19:47

@mamafirst😂 I did the same the other day. Still have patches of hair left on my legs where I missed bits. Have told OH to prepare cause he's going to have to do it for me next time.

sugarplumfairy2010 · 11/07/2020 19:49

My mum died yesterday and have spent everyday for the last few weeks sat with her. While also juggling 3 kids at home so has been so stressful. I can't remember having them like this in previous pregnancies so was wondering if it was the stress. On a plus I'm almost 35 weeks and my girls were born at 38 so hopefully not too long left.x

WeeScottishWife · 11/07/2020 19:55

Oh @sugarplumfairy2010 that's horrible, sending good wishes to your family.

I'm still just about doing ok with my legs, it's cutting my toe nails that has become an epic mission! 🙈 And I alternately laugh and despair over the fact that putting socks on & taking jeans/socks off at the end of the day is one of the biggest struggles in my days at the moment 😂

sel2223 · 11/07/2020 20:01

@sugarplumfairy2010 I'm so sorry for your loss, you poor thing. Sending lots of love and good wishes your way

Newmama29 · 11/07/2020 21:11

@sugarplumfairy2010 I’m so sorry to hear of your loss Flowers

Now that salons are opening I just can’t wait to get a wax as trying to shave legs is a problem 😂 I attempted to paint my toes tonight, that was also a mission!! 😂

MamaFirst · 11/07/2020 22:13

@sugarplumfairy2010 Oh no, that's so awful for you, I'm so sorry for your loss. No wonder you feel stressed. Here's to hoping you don't have too much longer to wait then x

@JMill13 @WeeScottishWife @NewMama29 not ashamed to admit I considered what state my legs would be in between now and 5-7 weeks time for the big day, if I didn't do them again 😂 I think I'll have to get the Dh to assist though instead!

heroineinahalfshell · 11/07/2020 23:10

@sugarplumfairy2010 i'm so sorry for your loss. What an awful time for you all.

Camia · 11/07/2020 23:19

@sugarplumfairy2010 I'm so sorry, it's completely understandable you're stressed. I hope you don't have to wait too much longer

Anybody else have cramps come and go? I've had some that stayed constant for an hour or so then went away, and my doctor said that's pretty normal, but I'm currently getting cramps low down (very menstrual like cramps, though not too painful right now, just annoying) that are hitting kind of in waves. They seem to fade off some when I lay down but as soon as I get up they get worse again. I'm trying not to freak myself out but can't help wondering lol

Beau2020 · 12/07/2020 07:38

@Camia I'm getting the exact same! I think mine are braxton hicks x
