@nells3 I haven’t started perineal massage yet and tbh dreading it. I really don’t want to do it, I know I’ll find it gross and it will freak me out especially as you can’t really see what you’re doing down there with a big bump in the way. Can’t remember the last time I could see my bits!Blush

Bert2020 · 09/07/2020 17:11

So happy to hear you are both doing well, enjoy all the newborn cuddles💙

Newmama29 · 09/07/2020 18:35

Any other people on here based in Scotland? I’ve just seen that the Scottish government are now allowing 2 birth partners & your birth partner & 1 other designated person are allowed to visit on antenatal wards! I am over the moon at this news, I feel so much more at ease now!! Although there is still no word on when birthing partners can attend, I’m awaiting an email from my MSP regarding this detail.

squashie34 · 09/07/2020 19:29

That's Northern Ireland and now Scotland too 😊 happy for all you ladies, let's hope England follow suit, although today it was to announce nail bars and gyms to open!

Firstmummytobe · 09/07/2020 20:48

@Chez2306 omg congratulations he’s absolutely gorgeous!! What did he weigh if you don’t mind me asking, and that head of hair ahhh!!😍😍xx

gemso2020 · 09/07/2020 21:09

@Chez2306 What a babe! Congratulations, he is gorgeous. Hope you are being looked after as well!

JMill13 · 09/07/2020 21:29

@newmama29 fab news. Was the most relieved I've been in a while when the announced it in NI last week, so now how you must be feeling.

@squashie34 fingers crossed England follows super soon 🤞🤞. They just announced gyms, cinemas, travel and horse racing today over here 🙄

cannotmakemymindup · 09/07/2020 21:44

@Chez2306 Congratulations! Awww first baby of the group.

We've had updates from my local trust today regarding birth partners being able to be there from the start of inductions etc,. Plus visiting is now allowed with a timed slot each day with whoever was your birth partner. So I'm really happy about those restrictions getting lifted.

MaisieMolly · 09/07/2020 22:26

Oh wow @Chez2306 that’s lovely, congratulations! He must have been quite early, how is he doing? Was it just early labour or an induction / c section?

@cannotmakemymindup oh that’s good news for you. Which trust are you with? Nothing from our trust on visitors and birth partners, I think they will probably hang on as long as possible with the restrictions as it’s a Small hospital. Just some
Visiting hours for birth partners on post natal ward, even if limited, would be nice to have!

cannotmakemymindup · 09/07/2020 23:39

@MaisieMolly I am with Esneft which is East Suffolk and North Essex.

I’ve just got really sudden awful nausea but I cannot be sick and I feel dreadful and it gets worse when I lie down!!! Also got like sort of period pain cramps but they don’t really hurt. Anybody else suffered this?!

squashie34 · 09/07/2020 23:42

@MaisieMolly I agree, even just an hour a day visiting would be huge for mother's mental health if they need to stay in/be induced and also for partners to have that initial bonding time in the first few days.

I honestly can't fathom how some NHS trusts are changing rules but others aren't, even when there's no corona breakouts in that area. It's such a shame that postcode is dictating what partners can experience ☹️ gets me sad as I know I'll be in for at least 24 hours after my section. Also apparently after a section it's only 30-60 minutes in recovery before going to the ward.. that's no time at all for daddies! 😢

sel2223 · 10/07/2020 00:12

@Firstmummytobe I've had this as well! It's mostly nausea but then I did randomly projectile vomited while making Sunday dinner last weekend! I've also had period pain type cramps and lower back ache for the last week or so and I'm just generally feeling like crap.

BabyG08 · 10/07/2020 07:14

@sel2223 @Firstmummytobe I’ve been exactly the same, had to get out of bed the other night to vomit and felt really nauseous. And again been having period cramps in my lower abdomen and my lower back this week.
This week has just been written off with napping all the time.

I did have some positive news, my hospital is allowing birth partners times to visit on postnatal wards now.
Hope you’re all doing well ladies,

Beau2020 · 10/07/2020 07:33

@Chez2306 absolutely beautiful!! Congrats so happy for you!

@sel2223 regarding sickness, mine has gone up to being daily / few times a week now. Last night I was vomiting awfully but I've suffered from hyperemesis in first and second trimester so I'm pretty used to the sickness now.

I think it means we're getting close ladies!

My hospital confirmed today I shouldn't never have been put on consultant led care and I'm back to low risk midwife lead care which is great as it means I can go to the birth centre and have a water birth, which is want I want to do! Smile
