Morning everyone, hope you are all well. I’m counting down the days until I go on maternity leave - 15 working days to go!!!!

We’ve left it pretty late to get a pram but have narrowed it down to three - Nuna Mixx Next, Uppababy Vista2 and Silver Cross (Wave, Coast, Pacific - not entirely decided on that yet!).
Has anyone got any of these and can recommend or otherwise?! X

Liverpool20 · 06/07/2020 11:12

I wouldn’t worry - let him carry them 😅

I have two small size suitcases one for me one for baby and his changing bag. It became very real that he was on his way when I packed them that’s for sure. I’m taking a bit more clothes, snacks & drinks this time as don’t want to be without if I’m going to be alone and people dropping things off might be difficult.

I actually don’t feel as big or as uncomfortable as I did the last time but don’t know if that’s because I’m running around after a 4 year old. Got a feeling he will come on or after his due date, my first DS came exactly 37 weeks after embryo transfer ❤️

Lottie37 · 06/07/2020 11:12

@flutterbunny

Awwww not long for maternity leave then!! Hope it goes quickly for you

My mum treated me to the Silver Cross pioneer eclipse special edition with rose gold embellishments. I think it's gorgeous!! Have a look at that.
It's about £1200 for the whole lot including car seat and ISOFIX.
I just love the storage basket on the silver cross, as I carry a lot of stuff about. xx

Flutterbunny · 06/07/2020 11:24

@Lottie37 - Thank you so much, I’m going to a pram shop this afternoon so I will look at the Pioneer. One thing that a couple of reviews have said is that the basket is so close to the seat it’s hard to get stuff in there - do you find that or is it not an issue?

CherryCreme · 06/07/2020 11:24

I just had my 34 week midwife appointment and growth has dipped slightly on the chart, anyone else had this? She's told me it might be because baby is back to back, it's been forwarded to the hospital who may or may not call me for a growth scan, I did think my bump hadn't changed must the past few weeks!

Bert2020 · 06/07/2020 12:07

@Flutterbunny I agree with @Lottie37 the pioneer is brilliant. Ours is nearly 4 years old now and my daughter would still fit with plenty of room. It still looks new. The basket is brilliant, I could get a weeks shopping in! With the carrycot it’s easy to raise, the seat is harder if fully reclined but it’s easy one hand to raise so not an issue. Pushes well and good on cobbles too. We have a silver cross pushchair too and again a proper work horse.

JMill13 · 06/07/2020 12:56

Hi ladies!

Anyone hit the nesting stage yet? People keep asking me and honestly I definitely haven't at all, all I want is to get out of the house, book into a hotel with the boyfriend for a night, eat all the food that I've not cooked or isn't takeaway and swim/chill in a pool and nice little walks somewhere pretty, it's calling to me so badly I could cry. Also wish we could go somewhere exactly like that but bring the dog so she can have a nice little adventure before we turn her life upside down with the baby coming. Driving myself crazy, just sitting laughing at myself really. Is this even normal? Or is just lockdown and pregnancy together finally getting to me?

nobodyloveslava · 06/07/2020 13:15

Hi flutterbunny, we've gone for the Vista V2 - v pleased with it so far but haven't tried it out beyond building it and steering it around the kitchen!

squashie34 · 06/07/2020 13:25

@JMill13 totally with you on this! Have no desire to nest or clean or sort baby drawers into dividers.. i'd just love to be lying by a pool with a mocktail and yes go to a restaurant! Being in the house is driving me mad but it doesn't mean it's clean at all.. the opposite!

Maybe it means babies will be late? 😆

cannotmakemymindup · 06/07/2020 13:29

@JMill13 I have nested at home but equally I have been wanting all the nice things to. So I have been wearing more makeup to make myself feel good. Plus we have escaped to Cornwall for a week in a holiday lodge. So far really happy beaches are quiet, toilets open and I'm just wearing a mask for anything like a public toilet. We wanted the same thing for my DD6 before her life changes with her sibling being born. So good to hear waves and see more than the 4 walls of our house.

ml01omm · 06/07/2020 13:31

@JMill13 I am the same as you. No desire to nest, every desire to have one last weekend away somewhere with my DH, eat in nice restaurants, sunbathe on a beach etc

We had a our final fling holiday booked for May which we had to cancel.I'm glad, our family and household are all still COVID free, so should be pleased in the grand scheme of things, but still disappointed to not be able to eat in the nice adult restuarants and visit places one last ime

JMill13 · 06/07/2020 13:43

@squashie34 @cannotmakemymindup @Ml01omm

Glad I'm not the only one! It's driving me mad. When we first found out we were having a baby we had booked Amsterdam in March for OHs birthday then European lockdowns started happening, we still weren't but decided it unwise to travel anyway so that was cancelled and we had planned but thankfully hadn't booked to go to Spain or the canary's somewhere like that for 4/5 days in May/June for one last hurrah. I'd be happy with one night in a hotel even here in NI somewhere but the prices have been hiked right up and I don't want to suggest to OH as I reckon he'll say no and then I'll be sad 🙈.

LOL @squashie34 my house was a tip the other day but my friend decided she wanted to come visit so we had to run round and clean/tidy/hoover. Oh keeps saying we need to sort the nursery and unbox everything and I'm just like I know, but have absolutely no desire to actually do it.

@cannotmakemymindup Cornwall sounds wonderful! Have an amazing time!

@Ml01omm exactly this. I'm happy we're all safe and healthy but the disappointment is real all the same.

Havlerr · 06/07/2020 13:52

@JMill13 I went crazy with nesting at about 21 weeks, was panicking as our house purchase was put on hold thanks to Covid and we don’t have a lot of space in our current place for a baby. I emptied out every single drawer and cupboard, did lots of decluttering and moved furniture around to make space. I enjoyed folding baby clothes and putting them away but apart from that one week where I went mad, I haven’t had any more. I really can’t be arsed to do anything now at 34 weeks, I’m too big and uncomfortable and cleaning is the last thing on my mind.

We had a baby moon booked for April to Portugal but obvs that was cancelled so instead in a couple of weeks time we’re doing a little weekend getaway. I’m trying not to travel more than an hour away and will make sure hospital notes and bags are in the car just in case. Sod’s law - If I don’t prepare anything I’ll go into labour !

Just realised I have 37 days exactly until due date. Feels crazy to think we’ll soon be a family rather than a couple Shock

Superscientist · 06/07/2020 13:57

We had a period of nesting about 2 months ago and went through each of our storage cupboards cleared out what we didn't need and added extra storage/organisation. We were impressed by how much space we gained! It might have been lock down fever though rather than nesting!!

My parents are visiting next weekend to drop of the crib and any bits my family have bought for us but it will be difficult to set up too much stuff yet as I have turned the nursery/baby room into my office and my partner has turned the guest room into his office. We had hoped to use at least one of them to store everything until needed when we would move it into our room.

WeeScottishWife · 06/07/2020 14:04

I'm still so disappointed that pools have been closed for the majority of my pregnancy. I love to swim and was so sure that I would be in the pool a couple of times a week through the whole period.

We've got friends visiting on Saturday (careful distanced) who always have a lovely clean tidy house when people visit them, so I think that'll be the push for me to get everything sparkling this week before they come. Then hopefully I can just do minimal maintenance from there to keep it all clean & tidy; I'll be 37+2 by their visit, so it's good timing; I just would like things to be ready when the baby turns up.

Mummapenguin20 · 06/07/2020 14:22

As i was told i could well be induced 24th of this month i came home in a blind panic and completely blitzed my house. My bags are ready just a few drinks to add and a flask of coffee to make (i can not drink hospital coffee and am fussy only drink kenco decaf) and now anything out of place and im freaking out oh put his cup on the table in the lounge instead of the kitchen sink i thought my brain would explode haha x

JMill13 · 06/07/2020 14:26

I'd love for nesting to kick in. I'm 33 weeks now so maybe still a bit early but I want to want to sort everything out and be prepared in case baby decides to make an appearance early or something. Maybe I just need to give myself a good kick up the arse and get on with it anyway.

@havlerr weekend away will be fab. Perfect before baby comes.

I said to the boyfriend there about getting a hotel for a night or 2 and he said sure we can do that anytime once baby is here, it can go stay at his mums 🙈 noo I wanna go pre-baby not after! He was like I understand that it's hard, watching everything opening up and looking like it and everyone are going back to normal but we're essentially still in lockdown with some eases here and there.

cannotmakemymindup · 06/07/2020 14:40

@JMill13 I to am treating it like I'm still pretty lockdown, just with access to a beach or a wood! We brought all our food and drink down for the entire week with us so don't need to go to any shops or anything. Cars going to be so much lighter on the return trip Grin

@cannotmakemymindup sounds so lovely. Sometimes that's exactly what you need in a week. Thankfully we live by the sea so 10 minute walk takes us there which is amazing just to chill and hear/watch the waves. Its not really a beach but if the tide is out you can walk along a bit of sand which is great for the dog not so much humans but I love the sea more than beach anyway. There's so many pretty walks where I live but most you've to drive to and I am yet to learn how to do that.

I just feel very trapped or something for the first time really ever. Like it's never bothered me not being able to drive before because there was always easy access to the train or bus if I wanted to go anywhere but now I have to rely on OH and he's not an adventurer/walker so I'm not getting anywhere.

heroineinahalfshell · 06/07/2020 15:25

You ladies are all making me feel better, there's been no nesting here either! I've washed all the baby clothes up to 3 months and put them away, and we've built the pram - that's it. We haven't collected the cot from our friend, or built the next2me, or set up the nursery. Nursery is going to be DH's home office for the forseeable though so I think we'll just deal with it once we need to move her out of our room for sleeping.

I've also done no additional cleaning - I really wanted to get professionals in for a deep clean, but I'm not sure if that's sensible at the moment. We've just booked a guy to completely demolish and re-fit our bathroom - in September! This may be a very foolish move but it really needs doing and we obviously couldn't do anything during lockdown.

I'm really struggling to focus on anything, work or pregnancy related, at the moment. I don't know if it's lockdown fatigue, or 3rd trimester baby brain, or both. I'm sure there's lots I should be doing, but the days just seem to slip away without achieving anything.

JMill13 · 06/07/2020 15:51

@heroineinahalfshell right there with you. I'm supposed to be working today, laptops been on but I've honestly done nothing. Motivation has gone out the window completely, I've that Hypnobirthing book I'm supposed to be reading haven't looked at it since I bought it. All I've been doing is basic things like cooking, laundry, sticking the dishwasher on, walking the dog. Oh has built the pram and Next2me but that's about it. And the less I achieve the less I can be arsed 🙈 it's maddening.

sel2223 · 06/07/2020 15:59

I'm so jealous of all this talk of relaxing weekends away and hotel stays!
@cannotmakemymindup that sound perfect.

No nesting here either.....i had a 'spurt' around 25 weeks but nothing since and I've still got lots to do. I started packing my hospital bag but need some more motivation to finish!

Firstmummytobe · 06/07/2020 16:03

Nesting fully kicked in over here, I think it’s because I know my baby will be here in no more than 8 days🙈🙈
Me and my partner have literally scrubbed the house from top to bottom (he was excited because he’s a clean freak and my friend bought us a Spanish cleaning hamper as one of our baby shower gifts.) it smells lovely in here! Even though baby will probably stay at the hospital a few weeks, were trying to keep on top of keeping everywhere clean and tidy.

Nursery is completely finished but that’s because I’m an impatient bitch🤣 and pram is built but is round at my nanas who lives just behind us.

Hospital bag is packed for baby, and mine is packed although I just need to add my phone charger, snacks, maybe a book because I’ll be in for a while probably too.

All babies clothes up to 3 months washed, dried, ironed, folded/hung up and put in the wardrobes/ draws. I feel so prepared but I guess I’ve always just known deep down due to his problems that he would come early! Plus me and my partner only moved into this house a couple of months ago so in the mix of it all Just got everything prepared.

It will come ladies, one morning I just woke up with a burst of energy and wanted to scrub the bathroom clean😂😂😂

JMill13 · 06/07/2020 16:08

@firstmummytobe please please please send some of that motivation my way!
