@Newmama29 I think getting one and seeing it on is a good idea, but then I’d also Amy e suggest getting one second hand as they are a lot cheaper !!

Luna321 · 04/07/2020 22:41

We got the 360 when my son outgrew the car seat that came with the travel system and I must say it is amazing. Expensive thought but well worth it for the convenience of getting them in and out of the car, especially when they get heavy.

Morning ladies,

Would you believe it - have just had to take hubby back to hospital Confused He has some fluid on his lung which is apparently a common post-op thing but last night it became really painful and he started to have trouble breathing, so I've whizzed him back to a&e where he's been taken straight through - with a bit of luck they'll be able to drain it off today and he can come home again. Ironically, the rest of him is feeling great, the actual site of the operation is healing really well.

Having my own slight worry - has anyone else been having period-like cramps? I've had them since last night, on and off, but not on and off enough to make me think they are actual contractions and they aren't getting particularly worse, but they are uncomfortable. However when I google it, I just get Braxton Hicks, which I have had and aren't painful, or premature labour. My plan is to monitor them today and if they get worse or more frequent then I will call the day assessment unit. No other symptoms whatsoever so far. Any thoughts or similar experiences?! Hmm

kaxxz · 05/07/2020 10:05

@mable88 hope your husband feels better soon.

I've had period like cramping last night too, spoke to the midwife about it last Thursday. She said it's the bodies way of preparing for labour, it doesn't mean labour is imminent some people can experience these cramping pains even till their due date. She said aslong we know the signs of labour and when to report them it's fine. Braxton Hicks I experience to but they're just painless tightenings.

Fig20 · 05/07/2020 10:40

@mable88 Ahh bless him! Hope he feels better soon 🤞🏼 It’s good that he’s otherwise feeling okay:

I was wondering this too 😅 I’ve had period like cramps a few times in the past few weeks which took me a bit off guard. It has only been in the evening when making dinner or lying in bed which is odd. 🤔

sel2223 · 05/07/2020 10:46

@mable88 sorry your hubby is having a bad time. This must be so stressful for you both. Hope he's well on the way to recovery very soon.

I've had a lot of period type cramps this last few days as well as backache and diarrhoea (sorry for the TMI). I've also had a tight feeling across my bump which I guess is BH.

mable88 · 05/07/2020 11:47

Thanks all - he's had a chest x-ray and the fluid looks fine so they are now sending him for a ct as they think he might have a blood clot. Which apparently can be treated with medication, so fingers crossed he doesn't have to stay in again. Wish this would just be over and sorted, I hate the uncertainty Sad

Newmama29 · 05/07/2020 12:06

@mable88 sorry to hear you’re going through this! Did they put a chest drain in? If he has a blood clot they’ll give him an injection to dissolve the clot & keep an eye on him & then he can hopefully get home with no further complications

mable88 · 05/07/2020 12:19

@Newmama29 no they didn’t drain anything so I guess it wasn’t the fluid that was causing the pain. We’ll see what the ct scan shows up. He also saw the surgeon who took his appendix out last week, who told him that the appendix has burst. Which he was told it hadn’t, so just a bit confused as to what actually went on.

Liverpool20 · 05/07/2020 14:35

I have been lurking on this thread since the first one 😅 hello 👋🏼 I am due my second IVF boy 18th August will be at Liverpool Women’s.

I’ve been trying to remember how much the Mama Tens machine helped in early labour the last time around but it’s such a blur I just can’t but I think it did 😁 It’s gone awol anyway so trying to figure whether to buy one again or not.

From experience do you think they help?

mable88 · 05/07/2020 15:31

Good news - tests and scans ruled out anything sinister or serious, so they’ve just put the pain down to the post-op infection and sent him home to carry on resting and taking the antibiotics. When I picked him up he was feeling a lot better than when I dropped him off so I think we can expect a bit of up and down while he recovers. Just nice that we can now enjoy the rest of the day (it’s my birthday of all days 😂) and hopefully no more trips to hospital until it’s time for baby to arrive!

sel2223 · 05/07/2020 15:34

Welcome @Liverpool20 I'm a FTM so can't help I'm afraid

I just had the most random projectile vomit episode in the middle of making Sunday Lunch! The nausea feeling went as quick as it came. What's that all about?!?!

sel2223 · 05/07/2020 15:35

@mable88 great news! And happy birthday to you x

Liverpool20 · 05/07/2020 15:57

That’s crazy! Was it a certain smell or something you might have eaten? I haven’t been sick since very early on luckily but projectile doesn’t sound like fun 😣

JMill13 · 05/07/2020 15:57

@mable88 fab news, glad to hear it. Hopefully he recovers quickly now. Happy Birthday 🥳.

@sel2223 omg this happened to me on Thursday! About an hour after breakfast, thankfully I was in the bathroom about to brush my teeth but I was absolutely fuming 😂 no idea where it came from cause I felt absolutely fine before hand but as soon as it was all out I felt completely normal again. So weird.

Luna321 · 05/07/2020 15:57

👋 @Liverpool20 you can hire them, i got mine through my local children's center. I used it with my first and I definitely found it useful in the early stages. You can even hire them through Amazon I think.

Luna321 · 05/07/2020 16:00

@mable88 sorry you're having to go through the stress of all this but good about the results anyway.

I'm sure period pains on and off are totally normally and is just your body getting ready. I've had a day or so of very very light ones. But the main thing I seem to get is tightenings and also the baby has hiccups really frequently!

mable88 · 05/07/2020 16:06

Thanks ladies 😊 just so relieved to have him home (again 😂) and feeing more like his normal self.

@Luna321 my baby seems to have had loads of hiccups this week! I wonder what causes it? I just think it’s the cutest thing though 😊

gemso2020 · 05/07/2020 16:37

Hey ladies, wow so much so catch up on this thread moves so quickly!

@mable88 Happy Birthday! Glad to hear your hubby is now home, hope he makes a quick recovery as I bet you need to put your feet up!

@Liverpool20 Can't personally recommend the TENS yet, as I'm FTM but my local hospital allows you to rent one from Week 37. (I'm in the Middle East but imagine there must be a similar option in UK?). I will be there first thing next Monday morning to pick it up - I'm convinced I'm going to be early and don't want to be without it!

I still can't tell the difference between hiccups and BH. Seems more like hiccups to me, but it's alllll the time. I get them myself at least once an hour too for the last few months!

MamaFirst · 05/07/2020 18:16

I'm personally not at all a fan of TENS machines, I found them extremely uncomfortable and unhelpful! Lots of people do like it though, so worth a try.

@mable88 happy birthday! Glad your dh is home now, here's to hoping he has a speedy and straight forward recovery!

Lottie37 · 05/07/2020 20:41

Anybody bought a nice mums hospital bag yet just for their own stuff?

I was thinking about treating myself to a like a new weekend/tote bag to put all my stuff in.

I've done the baby's bag already xx

cannotmakemymindup · 05/07/2020 21:10

@sel2223 I haven't had projectile sickness but I do keep having the odd day of absolute nausea and feeling so ill. Not sure if it's where the baby moves to or a kick to the stomach or something.

@mable88 glad he's home again. I hope to last hospital visit before baby.

Firstmummytobe · 05/07/2020 22:00

@Lottie37 I bought a mini suitcase from Matalan for £17 and it’s gorgeous 😁 really cheap aswell they are all on sale!!
I think it will be handy to have for other things too, but a lot of women had them on the wards when I was admitted a couple of weeks ago.
Plus, it’s on wheels so don’t need to be carried into the hospital!!

trinajade · 06/07/2020 10:29

Hi everyone I've been silently following this post for a while. I'm 34+1 with baby number 3 and so ready to meet him/her now! Baby feels so low and I'm suffering now with what I'm assuming is pelvic girdle pain especially when turning over in bed at night. I really need to crack on and pack my hospital bag I have a feeling baby will be early. How is everyone else doing?

KittyKat2020 · 06/07/2020 10:37

Both hospital bags packed and I have a lovely cath kidston bag but I’m now worrying about wether I should of had one on wheels.... ah well DP will have to carry it lol
