@Firstmummytobe Thinking of you, hope all is ok ❤️

WeeScottishWife · 03/07/2020 18:04

@Oldestchild90s Appointments being over the phone or face to face varies between hospital trusts.

90th centile isn't good/bad one way or the other; it's just giving you & the midwife a rough idea of what size the baby is, and the chart as a whole is to see if the baby is growing at a steady rate.

heroineinahalfshell · 03/07/2020 18:17

@Oldestchild90s as far as I understand it, as long as the baby's growth rate is steady (so you're following one of the lines on the growth chart consistently) then everything is OK. It's only if measurements vary between percentiles that they get concerned and send you for scans to check on the baby.

Good evening ladies 😁
(Yes this is a huge smile on my face)
So just been to the Liverpool women’s hospital. I was told there that the midwife at Ormskirk has given me the wrong information and I am just a CARRIER of cystic fibrosis and that I don’t actually have it 😁(writing a complaint to Ormskirk as we speak) the baby still has possibilities of it if my boyfriend is also a carrier, so he’s had a blood test today and just got to wait for them to come back.

We’ve been told that the baby will 100% be going to the neonatal unit shortly after delivery, but we are allowed a 10-15 minute cuddle first. Here he will be examined by specialist doctors and have his bowel looked it with possible view for surgery, which I was told a lot more about today by the consultant and feel a lot more at ease as it is a very easy procedure with very very good rates of success🥰

Baby was kicking away on the scan, however after having a Doppler they said the baby is trying to hard to receive blood from my placenta as it doesn’t seem to be working as well now as it should be, as there is resistance of blood flow through the cord, and ANY concerns over movement to report to the hospital for CTg’s immediately. I also need to be out on the CTG monitor twice next week.

And thennnnn I’ll be induced at 37+3 on 13th July (a week Monday) at Liverpool women’s hospital! I have been given folders for my notes regarding neonatal care post delivery and there is a lot of useful information in there.

I’m so so excited now and I feel so much more at ease, as at this hospital the neonatal ward is open for mums AND DADS to visit whenever they like no matter what the time is, I really do feel so blessed today after such a horrible few weeks.❤️❤️❤️

KittyKat2020 · 03/07/2020 18:30

Anyone else got intense period pain and stabbing pain in groin? I’m 33 weeks by nhs calculations and 35 weeks by my calculations. But owwww!

squashie34 · 03/07/2020 18:37

@Firstmummytobe wow what great news, I bet you will be al pleased! I'll be honest after you told us yesterday I did do a bit of reading up on it (as I couldn't believe they said you had CF and hasn't ever had symptoms) and did read about being a carrier.. it's actually more common than you think for a person to be a carrier isn't it but it needs both and you dad to be a carrier. Keeping everything crossed for you.

You should be so so proud of yourself - your strength through this has been nothing short of amazing- how positive you have stayed throughout. Your little one is going to be the luckiest baby in the world to have you as his mummy ❤️❤️

Bert2020 · 03/07/2020 18:39

@Firstmummytobe so happy for you! You are a wonderful person and so upbeat, an inspiration!

@sel2223 just seen the air bridge, are flights bookable now?? Smile

Firstmummytobe · 03/07/2020 19:30

Thanks everyone!! no matter what happens, no matter what problems arise and bridges we have to face, at the end of each day I will have a little boy to love and cuddle forever and an amazing boyfriend so what more can I ask for!!! I’m so so lucky like we all are to be creating a new little life 💙

BabyG08 · 03/07/2020 19:47

@Firstmummytobe So so happy for you that things are looking up! Well done for being so brave the whole way through, you’re amazing x

mable88 · 03/07/2020 20:04

Just caught up on the thread

@Firstmummytobe wow what a few days you’ve had! So pleased you’ve had some more positive news today Smile

Hubby is home now, was able to pick him up yesterday afternoon. Nasty post-op infection seems to be under control so he can finally start to recover from the appendectomy. Had 33 week appointment yesterday and all is well with little lady - Although initially her heart rate was a little high as she had been asleep until the midwife poked her so she had a shock! All ok after a few minutes.

cannotmakemymindup · 03/07/2020 20:38

Yay all for all the positives @Firstmummytobe really glad that you have had everything being much more thoroughly explained and that Dads can visit to.

@mable88 so glad your OH is now home with you again. That's really good news.

To everyone not get the right appointments etc definitely speak to your maternity team. Unfortunately at this time we're all rather having to advocate for ourselves and the correct level of care. Things are falling through the cracks especially with the inconsistency of who we're seeing and sporadic appointments for some.

Had my 34 week scan and babys growth has slowed right down 😔 if hes not grown much in 3 weeks will be induction x

JMill13 · 03/07/2020 20:53

@firstmummytobe so glad to hear you're having a better day lovely! Long may the positivity continue x

Fig20 · 03/07/2020 21:02

That’s great news @Firstmummytobe 🥰

I called the community midwife office and when I eventually got through spoke to someone who wasn’t very helpful. She said she would get someone to call me on Monday 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m going to try to push to have my next appointment in person (I’ll be nearly 35 weeks- a phone appointment seems completely pointless) so hopefully they can check.

I can’t believe the massive difference between different areas 🤷🏽‍♀️ If there was any logic in the decisions surely there would be consistency. Everyone is in PPE so surely they can do the appointments in person even if it’s just to check blood pressure, urine and growth. I don’t know if it’ll make any difference me asking for a face to face appointment but I’m going to try. Seems insane that pubs are open but women in many areas are still having a reduced level of maternity care.

MamaFirst · 03/07/2020 21:15

@oldestchild90s is this based on fundal height measurement do you mean? If so, it's really not very relevant as we are all different builds and sizes and all carry differently. Even between checks I'd your baby is laying say side on one check then head down the next, it would make a difference to how you measure. I think even charting it on a centile might be a new thing as I don't remember this before?

@heroineinahalfshell If there's no clinical reason to induce you, they certainly won't make you. I was induced with mine because I pushed to be due to severe discomfort from the irritable uterus. They will want you on a medical led ward, but again this doesn't have to make a difference to the actual labour, once the waters are broken. I never had a massive problem with the head engaging with either of my babies either, I think this tends to be more of a problem with severe cases. When I was induced with my second baby (1st polyhydramnios), I was admitted for the pessary then they broke my waters and lowered my babies head down my cervix incase of cord prolapse, but then after that it was a normal labour as if I was midwife led. My third baby, second poly, I had two community sweeps then my waters broken in hospital, and they were not at all concerned about cord prolapse.
I would love to avoid an induction this time too, but I won't go over because I carry bigger babies. I know it's hard, but try not to worry. Talk to the doctor about your concerns and they'll do everything they can to help you.

@firstmummytobe ah yay, so happy everything is on the up for you. Soon be baby time!x

JMill13 · 03/07/2020 21:17

@fig20 phone appointment at 35 weeks is absolutely ridiculous. In my opinion they may as well not bother with anything at the point for all the use a phone call can do. Definitely just keep pushing for it because its essential care and the fact they aren't providing it is unbelievable.

I haven't had any appointments over the phone or cancelled thankfully.

mable88 · 03/07/2020 21:28

I’m sure I read (although cant remember where) that all appointments from the 28 week one should be face to face, as it’s so important to check blood pressure, urine, bump size and heartbeat in the third trimester. So sorry for those of you who haven’t been seen face to face, must be so worrying and frustrating. Sad

cannotmakemymindup · 03/07/2020 21:30

@Mummapenguin20 sorry babies growth has slowed but that's good it's being monitored. I think there's a few on here who are likely to get an inductions.

Anyone know what weight their babies are measuring at? I’m only 32 weeks & so far baby is measuring just below 5lbs 🙈

Fig20 · 03/07/2020 22:02

I just found this on the Leicester Maternity services website. Are they having a laugh? What is the use in having a 38 week appointment over the phone?! My area isn’t part of the lockdown area and I’m guessing this was the case before recent restrictions were ramped up again.

Beth804 · 03/07/2020 22:15

@Newmama29 I'm having twins and mine were measuring 4.5 pounds each at 31+5, think that's quite big though - 5lb sounds good! 👍

Firstmummytobe · 03/07/2020 22:21

@Newmama29 6lbs 10oz apparently but honestly, them weights that are divided from ultrasounds can be SOOOO inaccurate!!!

Beau2020 · 04/07/2020 08:03

@Firstmummytobe lovely to hear you've had some good news!

Last night I was in so much pain. I decided to do a bit of shopping trip yesterday and I think I was walking too much. When I got home I was having the most awful pelvic pain I've ever experienced. I don't know if the baby was just lying in an awkward position and pushing on a nerve or something but I was in so much pain. Luckily it's eased off this morning but has anyone else had this after a long walk?

Oldestchild90s · 04/07/2020 08:22

@Beau2020 Sorry to hear you've been in pain. I went for a nice long walk yesterday and i've woken up this morning and i can hardly walk, my feet are in bits! I've never had the pelvic pain though. I would have thought it's the baby in a certain position at the time?

squashie34 · 04/07/2020 09:33

@Beau2020 I had this exact thing.. I was feeling good so we went on a longer walk than we normally would - about an hour later the most awful pain came on, I couldn't stand up straight! Never felt pain like it and ended up in labour ward triage worried I was going into early labour 😅😂 the midwives told me that I had just done too much and that our pelvis and ligaments are much more flexible now so you don't realise until it's too late. They told me to take paracetamol and rest!
