It’s being checked as we speak so it’s not prototype uploaded yet but if you could all sign I would be so grateful xxx

Sadly there is no point in signing the change.org petition as many signatures as it has already gotten, as it states on the government website they will not take it into consideration as it is an external website.

Well, I think not point’ was wrong of me to say, I jsut think if there was a government one on the government website then there would be a more likely chance of it being accepted!! Xxx

Oldestchild90s · 01/07/2020 13:25

I think i've signed it 👍🏻

MamaFirst · 01/07/2020 13:26

Signed both petitions. Bloody hate this government, useless pile of shite.

Thank you for the labour clothes responses. I also end up half dressed and afterwards feel very exposed! During I couldn't care less haha, but I'm trying to figure out a compromise. I've finally started packing my bag!

squashie34 · 01/07/2020 13:39

I've signed and also shared!

Re:birthing wear. I will probably wear a comfy bra and nightie, but fully expect to end up naked (I did in both previous labours) as to be frank, what I look like and who sees me naked is going to be the last thing on my mind when going through labour. In both my previous labours I ended up naked at some point (can't even remember de-robing) and then showered after birth and put my nightie back on and fresh pants/maternity pad.

I also think its ridiculous that pubs are opening but that women who are induced are having to labour on their own until "established" labour, especially given how long that can take, and that partners aren't allowed to visit after baby is born.

@WeeScottishWife I saw an interesting/depressing post on FB recently about this whole "4cm" rule and what this means for women who decline internal examinations. Essentially some trusts have been telling women if they refuse an internal then their partners can't attend the birth 😱 which is disrespectful, coercive and just very very wrong in my opinion. Personally I am OK with having (one) internal to check if I am dilated enough to get in the birth pool but after that I don't want any (this is what I did in my 2nd birth which was a home birth). But many women don't want internal examinations (for whatever reason) and they aren't hugely helpful (I had several in my first, long, labour and they did not help and contributed to my stress). So it is definitely worth checking with your midwife what the procedure is in your area, and pushing back against it.

Beau2020 · 01/07/2020 14:22

@NamiSwan gosh I didn't know this about the internal examination rule! So horrible, because like you say women who would perhaps normally decline an internal examination may feel pressured into doing so just so there birth partner can be present.

@Firstmummytobe ok I signed yours also x

Firstmummytobe · 01/07/2020 14:23

Thanks very much!! I’m just waiting for it to be checked by the government website and then it will properly go live ❤️

MotherofKitties · 01/07/2020 14:40

Signed your petition @Firstmummytobe I totally agree that it's completely ridiculous that partners are not allowed to be with us throughout the entirety of labour when people are allowed to go out on the razz, go back to work, school and pretty much everything else. I'm hoping for a home birth but if I end up in hospital and my husband can't be with me I'll be beyond furious.

BabyG08 · 01/07/2020 15:18

What’s everyone doing about their hospital bags? What are you all packing/taking in if they don’t allow people to bring things in for them? I’m trying to pack mine and I’ve gone off the basic hospital bag checklists but with covid I don’t know if I need more or not 🤷🏼‍♀️
Is it acceptable to take a small suitcase & a bag for baby?
It’s my first time so after already having no idea its more mind boggling now with covid!

Oldestchild90s · 01/07/2020 15:25

@BabyG08 I packed mine yesterday and i literally have the bog standard essentials! I have a small case for me and an overnight bag for baby. I have been told by quite a few people not go too over the top so i haven't 🙂

Havlerr · 01/07/2020 15:49

@BabyG08 I’ve almost finished packing mine (except for a few bits which I’ll do closer to the time). I went with a small suitcase for me and a changing bag for baby. Newmama29 · 01/07/2020 16:32

@havlerr that’s a great list! Going to refer to that a lot when I pack my bags! My friend suggested putting baby’s things in sandwich/ziploc bags so OH can access them easily too, along with the different sizes

BabyG08 · 01/07/2020 16:33

@Havlerr that’s perfect thankyou!

squashie34 · 01/07/2020 16:36

@Newmama29 I've done that, and also written on them in sharpie to say what's in the bag and what size.. surely OH can't get that wrong 😂

MamaFirst · 01/07/2020 17:05

Wow @havlerr that's an amazingly thorough list! Go you, I'm impressed!

Firstmummytobe · 01/07/2020 17:40

Just an idea if you haven’t all bought a bag, I’ve bought a mini suitcase from matalan as they are all on offer and packed a lot of what you have on your list @Havlerr

But for baby I’ve just used the changing bag that came with his pram!!

JMill13 · 01/07/2020 18:41

@havlerr what a fab list. Thanks for sharing.

Sjacey · 01/07/2020 19:26

Hi guys, I don’t remember the last time I posted! And there’s too much to catch up with lol!. I hope everyone’s doing well!

I had a 4d scan yesterday when I turned 34 weeks I cannot for the life of me work out who baby (girl) looks like as I can’t see any of us in her they look abit creepy in some of the pics we got lol! but the sonographer did say apparently noses look bigger and very different in scans as it is the focal point but that she has big full lips ! ☺️ also apparently she has lots of hair already 😄 I don’t know about anyone else but I am soooo uncomfortable now with just under 6 weeks left I cannot imagine her lasting that long, with my first (son) he was 8 days late I really hope that isn’t the case this time !

I’ve been having extra scans as with my last pregnancy I had pre eclampsia but haven’t got it so far thank god. Has anyone else had to have extra scans and if so did they tell you baby weight? At 28 weeks she was 2.12 and at 33 weeks she was 3.85 now I think she is just under 5 lbs.

Havlerr · 01/07/2020 19:56

No problemo ladies! I begun the list ages ago and have just been adding to it when I’ve come across recommendations on Instagram. Probably overpacked but oh well Blush

@sjacey we had a glimpse of the 4D scan included when we booked a private sex scan at 17 weeks but back then she was so skinny and alien looking. My husband wasn’t very impressed haha. Your bub is so much more real looking how exciting! I had an episode of reduced movements at 29+4 days and so had a growth scan which estimated baby at 3lbs. Now at 33 weeks I feel humongous and have definitely had a growth spurt so I’m guessing she’s a lot bigger. Would love to know though!

Firstmummytobe · 01/07/2020 20:08

@Sjacey hey welcome back!! Them scans are the cutest look at those lips😍😍😍

Yes I’ve had loads of extra scans due to a few problems and baby is weighing 6lbs 10oz at 35+5😂😩 It’s a good job he’s coming the end of next week because anything past 37 weeks I think that he would of been absolutely huge 😂😂😂😂

JMill13 · 01/07/2020 20:22

@beau2020 signed the petition

@firstmummytobe I clicked on yours to sign but it won't let me. Can you remind me once it's up and running and I'll get it signed please?

heroineinahalfshell · 01/07/2020 20:23

I had a scan today (33+4) due to reduced movements and she's measuring as 5lb 1oz! I was born at 36 weeks and I was 5lb, so it's reassuring she's a good weight already. Also back down to 50th percentile from the 97th the fundal measurement plotted her at 31 weeks.

They did say my fluid is measuring above the normal range (9.5cm) so I have to go back in 2 weeks for another scan. Has anyone else had this? They didn't explain what would happen if it's still too deep next time, but I have my 34w midwife appt on Friday so will ask her then.
