Seen as though it's nearly full... I've started thread 4. I wonder how many threads we get up to ❤️

We’re looking at a travel system that can convert to a double later. We’ve looked at loads!

The one that’s coming out tops for us just now is the Nuna Demi grow. It’s £999 but includes the carry cot, buggy and car seat. Although if we weren’t looking for a double then we could get essentially the same pram with same brand cheaper.

My sister had uppababy vista but I always found it really awkward and heavy getting in and out the car as there’s no handle to help. Icandys were nice as well. My main thing was the ease of folding up and down and just how it generally ‘drove’

djmbaker · 05/08/2020 20:02

@Nic2908 I'm with you on the mind blowing pram search!! Holy moly.

I have found two companies who do reconditioned ones so I'm going to look at those first.. we have got to spend a lot of money over the next 4 months not just on baby but house stuff etc so if I can find one a bit cheaper then I'll have to do that.. I've seen an Egg travel system I like so ... we shall see.. but I've found the whole baby buying mind blowing, there's way too much out there.

I did get a fab buy today though, I bought a baby bouncer chair thing (I have no idea what the official name for it is) off marketplace for £40.. that the lady paid £140 for it only last year!! It's raised higher off the ground than others which is what we needed otherwise baby girl will constantly have a bulldog in her face 😂😂😂

Bumble84 · 05/08/2020 21:34

There seem to be loads of good deals on bounty. I’m signed up to their emails and they do really good bundles of things. Maybe worth a look. I’m trying to look at just the essentials just now and figure out the rest later!

Hope everyone is doing well! Amazing news on the 20 week scans!
I have mine today (just over 21 weeks) and a little nervous for sure!

@Bumble84 I had my eye on the Uppababy vista but oh no if it's so clunky!

This pram business is just a minefield!

penguin423 · 06/08/2020 08:11

Hi, congratulations to everyone on the 20wk scans. I joined the initial Christmas thread but took a bit of a break after some bleeding etc in early pregnancy as reading online was too much but we are so lucky in that everything worked out and baby seems to be doing well. Due Christmas Day and have scan bang on 20wks tomorrow.

@december2020 We went to look at prams last week to get an idea and tried the Uppababy Vista V2 which is new and apparently similar with some upgrades to the last model. Everyone has different experiences and opinions for so many reasons of course but it didn't feel clunky to us as they gave us lots of time to take it up/down and put the various bits on and off. I did pick up the frame a couple of times and it seemed fine to me but as I say, just one opinion. We loved it and will most likely go with that one.

Nic2908 · 06/08/2020 08:56

It's funny that alot of you are mentioning the uppa baby as that is the one that we have looked at the most. Going to get booked into a local pram shop I think and have a play with a few more. It's so so difficult.

Good luck with all of the scans coming up. Keep them roam recommendations coming i am eagerly taking down notes!!

Bumble84 · 06/08/2020 09:00

@december2020 that’s just what I thought but you might love it. It’s a very popular pram so obviously other people think it’s fine, just what I found personally. I will say it’s definitely really sturdy and a really good looking pram it was just the lifting it to get in and out the car that put me off. I know thats a really minor thing to be put off by but for us the nuna had everything the vista had plus was easier to lift for me. It really is just personal preference though. I’d definitely try them out first.

december2020 · 06/08/2020 09:17

Aww thanks @Bumble84 @penguin423 at the moment the Uppababy Bista V2 is our front runner (from what we test drove in the shop).
I'm just finding it so hard to know what we'd actually need until the baby is actually here and we can do it all in practice 😂

Honestly it's so hard! 💀

5 hours to go till the 20 week scan and i can feel I'm getting more nervous by the hour!

december2020 · 06/08/2020 11:58

Me again 😔

For your 20 week scans, was it just the scan or also any bloods and/or a quick midwife appointment for urine and blood pressure?

I called the hospital to ask but no one at the clinic seems to know 🤷‍♀️
All my midwife appointments have been over the phone so far so at my 12 week appointment they took bloods and had a midwife do the F2F check ups.

I'm just trying to manage expectations with work and how long I may be at the hospital for this afternoon.

Bumble84 · 06/08/2020 12:36

I just had the scan as my scans are at the hospital but bloods etc are in a maternity care centre.

Even though I was just scan I was still there 2.5 hours because I got sent away for a walk twice due to baby not performing!

djmbaker · 06/08/2020 19:59

@december2020 how did your scan go? Did you have bloods? I've not had bloods since my 12 week scan so I wasn't sure if it happens at 20

Hope it went ok 😍😍😍

ceebee21 · 06/08/2020 20:20

Hi all, been really quiet and just trying to catch up.

I'm also looking at prams but absolutely no idea...my favourite atm is the mamas and papas occaro, but they just all look so similar to me 😂

My 20 week scan is next week along with whooping cough vaccine...my bloods arent being done until 25 weeks and that is at the maternity hub.

Anyone else on here have a dog? We have a puppy, crazy I know and I'm just so anxious about him ans the baby together...no idea how he will react etc..obv very hyper atm xx

Helski123 · 06/08/2020 20:53

Hi @ceebee21. I have an 11 year old lab who is super chilled and loves kids so I'm not particularly worried. If you're looking for tips then try this link, it's with a product called adaptil but the other things they suggest should be quite useful
www.google.com/amp/s/blog.adaptil.com/uk/9-tips-to-introduce-your-dog-to-a-baby%3fhs_amp=true

december2020 · 06/08/2020 20:53

@djmbaker it went super well!
One happy healthy wriggly baby (and he is still a boy) 😅.

I only had at 20 week scan this time. They told me they only do bloods for the 12 week appointment and they no longer did the F2F midwife appointment at the hospital as things should start going back to normal now.

So it was super quick in and out this time with barely any waiting time. @Bumble84 I was bracing myself for a 3 hour wait!

@ceebee21 I've got a dog too. No idea what we're in for juggling him and the baby, but I'm sure we'll work it out somehow (😬).

Helski123 · 06/08/2020 20:54

Also how are prams so expensive?! It's nuts!

djmbaker · 06/08/2020 21:11

@ceebee21 I have a British bulldog, thankfully she is amazing with children but she is very protective of me so just need to keep our eyes on that. I also have a cat .. that's worrying me more.

We are going to get baby gates to separate her when I need a break.

@Helski123 prams are extortionate!!!!! However, I can massively recommend looking on eBay and schpock for the companies who recondition them... I've found some amazing deals over the last few days.

calipoppy · 06/08/2020 21:11

We were in John Lewis for 2 hours today looking at prams and I left feeling exhausted!! I have NO idea how to choose, it seems they all have their own positives! I left liking the uppababy vista best but after reading on here and reviews I'm doubting myself again!

djmbaker · 06/08/2020 21:12

@december2020 yay glad he's still a boy and that it all went well 🎉

december2020 · 06/08/2020 21:32

I think we're currently between the Uppababy vista 2 and the Silver Cross Pioneer. The vista has a slight edge as the husband doesn't want a "boring all black or grey" pram. So we're thinking maybe the army green one.

I'm feeling like I'm being a bit too casual with getting things ready, we've got basically nothing for the baby yet!

Bumble84 · 06/08/2020 22:07

@calipoppy please don’t let what I said about the vista put you off. It really is just my personal choice and depends what’s most important to you for a pram.

catnip99 · 06/08/2020 23:05

@loobeelou just thought I'd randomly jump in to say that I too am due 26th of dec with a boy!! So crazy Grin

loobeelou · 07/08/2020 08:49

@catnip99 ah congratulations! My DS was 10 days late so not sure if 26th will be right 😂

Bumble84 · 07/08/2020 12:50

So girls I’ve just been looking at baby stuff and I’m sure some of you will have heard of sleepyheads which seemed to be the wonder product for some a few years back but now they are saying it can increase the risk of SIDS?!? I’m quite shocked and it totally puts me off getting that or anything similar. Anyone else heard anything of this?

SettyBuarez · 07/08/2020 13:37

@Bumble84 someone I was at school with, who is a midwife, recently shared something on facebook about them. It was to do with how the baby can overheat in them really quickly but still seem fine. I'm sure it was something about the lack of breathability in the material. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Nic2908 · 07/08/2020 15:29

@Bumble84 I was looking at this and have decided not to get one. The reason being is I know how hot my pregnancy pillow makes me, its rediculas. And I csnt imagine how a little baby must feel wrapped up in the same kind of thing. Overheating for babies is not good.... however some people wouldn't be without one and love them for putting on the soft and lying the baby in for day time shorter naps if that makes sense. I guess it depends on what you want to use it for?
