@OurLittlePumpkin1991

I got my matb1 from midwife after 20wk scan. Suggest you contact your midwife and ask how you get it now, shouldn't be a big thing (its a small form but needs a formal signature).

MissingMo · 03/07/2020 18:08

@OurLittlePumpkin1991 I had to go to my doctor surgery and fill out a form. They're going to fill out their bit and I'll collect it after 4 working days. Had to do it this way as don't have an appointment until my 28 weeks.

@FlashesOfRage I think you misunderstood my post - I was replying to @Clove20 who wanted to start maternity leave two weeks after her due date. I’m fully aware you can start it before, but as far as I know you can’t start it after the baby is born, which it almost certainly will be by then.

You’re 100% correct. I did misunderstand.

Is anyone feeling a strong need to get everything ready for baby ASAP in case there is another corona wave/lockdown in autumn? Lots of people seem to think there will be, and with baby clothes panic bought in the spring, and deliveries going mad/shops being shut, I feel like I need to just get everything now just in case. Especially clothes once restocking starts to happen in August, in case they all sell out again. I’m a planner/prepper at the best of times but now it feels almost urgent. Am I being excessive?

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/07/2020 09:11

Didn’t get my MatB1 either, I’ll ask the midwife next week. I’m not super worried my work won’t panic about it.

littlegem84 · 04/07/2020 09:27

@BuffaloCauliflower I think I would be doing it anyway. This little nagging voice is telling me to just do it all now so the hospital bag is packed and the clothes I have are washed and in the drawer. My son is at nursery 3 days a week and I am currently funemployed so I'm trying to make the most of it and get cracking in the nursery before the wave of CBAs hits. I was the same last time around!

Hi all 👋🏼 Had my second scan yesterday (at 21+6) and baby was showing up small, baby’s head and abdominal circumference measuring at the 5th centile. Although I am very small myself (4’11” and with an inherited Growth Hormone Deficiency since birth) the sonographer was concerned enough to ask me to come back later the same day to have a second scan with the doctor. At the second scan the doctor measured the baby as being at the 7th centile, so still small and officially Small For Gestational Age. They offered me an amniocentesis but I declined, the risk of miscarriage was too much for me to face at that instant. They also did blood tests to see if I’ve had an infection that can affect fetal growth. They’re taking into account my growth hormone deficiency but the lovely doctor didn’t seem to know anything about the condition really, so it all seemed a bit unsure.

Has anyone else had this come up at their scan? I’m freaking out a bit, and reading up reports on Google is never a good thing at times like this!

Thanks everyone, hope your scans have all been great 🙏🏼

NS34 · 04/07/2020 10:03

Is anyone else feeling very emotional, I feel like my hormones have gone haywire in the last couple of days, I think poor DH is scared to even look at me incase I burst into tears again. We have been off on holiday this week but it has rained almost all day every day and being in Scotland there is still so little we are able to do so I'm not sure if that is all contributing.

Pinktruffle · 04/07/2020 11:47

@FlashesofRage I'm going to consult my union first, I know they are planning on doing a statement regarding vulnerable staff this week sometime and if that doesn't work in my favour, I think I will go to the GP and try to get signed off. I feel guilty not going to work but I'm not willing to risk my baby

Sweetpea1985 · 04/07/2020 12:20

@BuffaloCauliflower I'm the same, I've been thinking I'm going to put a pandemic box under the stairs and put loads of nappies, wipes, milk and dry food for us in there. And toilet roll of course 😂
Clothes wise we will still be able to shop online for those so not too worried but keeping everyone clean and fed is my priority.

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/07/2020 12:42

@Sweetpea1985 my under stairs is already full of rice, flour, pasta, cous cous! I’ve always been a bulk buyer, when then pandemic hit I was already well prepared!

We also use cloth wipes instead of loo roll for wees so use very little loo roll (we don’t use kitchen towel either, just lots of washable cloths) we’re also going to use cloth nappies and wipes for baby and already buying those, and I’m planning to breastfeed so no need for milk. So most important for us is probably washing powder and Vanish, and making sure dry food is stocked up!

Clothes wise is my bigger worry, there was so much baby clothes panic buying at the start of the lockdown and stocks still haven’t replenished, lots of deliveries were stopped or slowed too which could happen again, and if we have that that’s more what I think I want to be prepared for.

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/07/2020 12:50

@NS34 that’s completely me today! Woke up with a headache and now emotional too. Seems to fluctuate a lot.

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/07/2020 12:50

@mOmShanti sorry to hear you’re dealing with this. I don’t have any experience but hope everything will be ok for you and baby

HarrietM87 · 04/07/2020 14:07

@mOmShanti no experience of this either but sounds like you are in good hands. Hope it’s all ok. If you are small it’s unlikely you’d have a big baby!

Pink15 · 04/07/2020 14:47

@mOmShanti sorry to hear your worries with your scan. However try and be reassured that 7th centile is still in the centile a therefore it is still NORMAL. Yes it's lower end of normal but still classed as normal - someone has to be on the first, second, third centile etc. The fact your height is small surely fits in with that? Hopefully the doctors can give you more answers.

@BuffaloCauliflower yes I'm a planner too and trying to get everything sorted! Especially as we become high risk at 28 weeks so better to get out and about shopping before then :)

mOmShanti · 04/07/2020 15:04

@Pink15 @BuffaloCauliflower @HarrietM87 Flowers Flowers Flowers

Thanks so much for the lovely messages, and thanks @Pink15 for putting it into that perspective.... You are absolutely right, it is still normal, just small normal, and according to the doctor all the internal measurements of the brain and heart etc were fine, so I must keep that in mind and keep my fingers crossed. Having another scan at 28 weeks.

xxx

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/07/2020 15:14

@Pink15 I believe we’re only considered high risk if we’re pregnant AND have additional serious co-morbidities. It’s not all of us. Only 3rd trimester women with heart conditions were on the shielding list.

Pink15 · 04/07/2020 15:17

@BuffaloCauliflower yeah I think you're right we're not shielding, but they're saying that after 28 weeks is slightly higher risk - the RCOG guidelines for example for nhs staff is to work from home from 28 weeks. Feels wrong to be working from home due to pregnancy and then spend time in shopping centres 🤣

Sweetpea1985 · 04/07/2020 17:14

Does anyone else feel a bit neglected by their midwifery team? I've been having shooting pains on 1 side with dizziness and nausea since last night, I cant get through to my midwife because her phone is off AGAIN, and because I'm just short of 20 weeks they wont have me come in at the antenatal centre to check me over they just said I'm sure its nothing to worry about.

FilthyforFirth · 04/07/2020 17:18

I have been off sick since April and still have my full 28 days holiday. If work allow I am going to take them all in advance of DD and then start mat leave on DD. So I think Oct 22 will be my last week at work. I'll be 35 weeks. I am going to take the full year if I am in this job still, or 9 months if I get the new one next week.

I have started to get a few clothes and after my 20 week scan next week will get a few other bits. #2 so dont have loads to get. But yes, I do worry there will be another lockdown and getting stuff will be hard again.

Mamas and Papas have a bit of a clothes sale atm. I got a few very cute bits!

Missworry92 · 05/07/2020 00:15

Hi ladies, I've been invited to join your group too 😊 thank you. I'm due 15th november and I know I'm having a boy. How are you all feeling? Xx

Addler · 05/07/2020 09:23

DP booked us a night in a hotel as a surprise last night to get me out of the house after being cooped up in there for months furloughed. It's the hotel where we first met and it's a bit old and shoddy but holds special memories for us and I know all the staff as I've stayed there for months with work over the last few years.

We had a lovely night watching a film and eating junk, woke up this morning to what I thought was a piece of Oreo but when I went to pick it up it crawled away. It was a fucking bed bug Envy

There goes our nice lazy morning, have got home and now boiling ourselves in the shower

Pink15 · 05/07/2020 10:42

@Addler 😱😱 did you complain?!

Addler · 05/07/2020 12:40

They gave us a full refund and the reservations manager gave us her card to contact her for a free booking next time so happy with that. I felt quite bad for them as that's the last thing they need when they reopen!

Lucky bedbug must've had a great night though, no humans at all for months and then a feast!
