I was told matb1 won’t be issued until my 28 week appointment - that’s my next face to face appointment in my area (25 weeks will still be on the phone).

Pinktruffle · 06/07/2020 12:11

@NaomiB79 @RestorationInsanity My midwifery care has been a bit shocking to be fair, they have given me numbers to contact them that don't work and I don't have a named midwife. I was really annoyed about it to start with but it's become a bit of a joke between DH and I now.

Teaandbiscuits123 · 06/07/2020 12:38

Hi all, I hope that everyone is feeling good!

I was offered the whooping cough after my 20 week scan last week but they just threw it on me and I wanted to do some research! I’ve personally decided to wait until about 28 weeks when baby is a bit bigger but that is a personal choice - when I asked at the scan they said I could just call the midwife to request it.

I’m assuming I’ll get the MatB form at my midwife check at 25 weeks 😕

Has anyone applied online for a maternity exemption form for prescriptions? My chemist has advised me to do it that way as it hasn’t been mentioned x

PipTed · 06/07/2020 14:55

Re: whooping cough i have mine booked with GP next week, was told by my midwife to book myself after 20 week scan is scheduled.

I was told by the midwife that MAT B-1 comes after 20 weeks scan and will be posted. I only know as I have been speaking to my employers and learned It needs to be given to them before 25 weeks, providing them with proof of pregnancy and maternity care.

@RestorationInsanity @Kj1010 yes my blood group and rhesus negative/positive tests. The other bloods have all come back, so I find it odd that I’m still waiting for this bit. At the 16 week call midwife said these bloods hadn’t come back yet. I have an online notes platform that I’ve checked and it’s not been updated on there or in my written notes. I’ll chase up tomorrow after my scan, not on really, if other people’s have come back by now. Should I have a fall or something, i think it’s something they need to know...

PipTed · 06/07/2020 14:57

@Teaandbiscuits123 I got my exemption certificate after booking call. They posted it to me. Might be in your pink notes? If not I’d follow up with midwife. 😊

EithneBlue · 06/07/2020 15:43

@PipTed - this is entirely unrelated to anything but ... your notes are pink?

I also got the prescription exemption form at booking in and had to send it off myself in the post. It took about a week to come back :-)
My MatB1 should be given to me at the 25 week appointment -- my work are pretty chill about not having it on time (they know circumstances have delayed things) :-)

PipTed · 06/07/2020 16:15

@EithneBlue yeah, most of the paper work is printed on pink paper, so all the medical staff just refer to them as my ‘pink notes’ - is that not the norm?

PipTed · 06/07/2020 16:16

😂

EithneBlue · 06/07/2020 16:18

@PipTed Ours are 'yellow notes' ... which I assumed was normal everywhere 😂

PipTed · 06/07/2020 16:33

🤣 who knew!!!

confused107 · 06/07/2020 17:03

Haha my notes are all green! Isn't it funny how things differ

Definitely feeling a little movement now which is lovely

RestorationInsanity · 06/07/2020 17:53

I have no notes, just an app (which is purple!) 😂

NaomiB79 · 06/07/2020 18:11

Mines are 'blue notes' up here in Scotland 😂. We are lucky we already get free prescriptions and a few years ago our Govt introduced the 'Baby Box' to ensure all new babies got a good start in life! Every new Mum gets one it really is full of great stuff!

nearlyamummyof2boys · 06/07/2020 19:41

@NaomiB79 that box is amazing! What a lovely thing to do and what a help it must be to some mothers.
We just have maternity notes at my hospital they do come nicely held together!

I'm off to window to the womb on Wednesday!
Just been to Mamas and Papas they have an amazing sale on - I could buy it all! ❤️

excitednerves · 06/07/2020 20:06

Anyone suffering heartburn? I remember this from my first pregnancy but I don’t remember it being this early. I’m eating rennie like sweeties especially at night. Last pregnancy I went through litres of gaviscon!

excitednerves · 06/07/2020 20:09

Housebuyers - how is everything going? We had our mortgage offer today whoooooo! Although I think we still have a few hurdles ahead of us.

Kj1010 · 06/07/2020 20:10

I have a yellow book for my notes had midwife call today all normal but booking me in silly dates got a face to face in August will be 24 weeks forgot to ask about whooping cough but have consultant next week the emailed me my medical certificate the day they booked me in and the matb1 form will ask at 20 week scan

Babyhope98 · 06/07/2020 20:21

@Teaandbiscuits123 I didn’t receive mine at the booking appointment so I got my doctor to send of for my maternity exemption certificate.. my midwife wasn’t going to give it until 25 week appointment, when it’s is normally giving out at the booking appointment which is from 8 weeks Hmm

Babyhope98 · 06/07/2020 20:26

@excitednerves yes I have been suffering with heartburn too, I try to sleep on my left side which helps at night, as this is better for your gastric juices.. plus it is better during pregnancy to sleep on your left side. I have been trying to have the rennie only when it’s really bad

excitednerves · 06/07/2020 20:30

@Babyhope98 sorry you’re suffering too. I sleep on my right as I face the baby monitor for DS1 that way but will try my left tonight. Thanks for the tip!

MummyShark97 · 06/07/2020 21:26

@excitednerves congrats! reserved our plot, instructed solicitors, mortgage application on thurs ... just waiting for something to go wrong now. We should complete by 21 Aug so this is going to be a crazy few weeks ugh!

sorry to hear about the heartburn everyone! I'm deffo in that boat too. What's everyone doing for clothes? I'm not fitting in anything now of course haha it's all hubby's tshirts and leggings. Are you going a size or two up or going for mat clothes now?

excitednerves · 06/07/2020 21:33

@MummyShark97 that’s so exciting! Fingers crossed for you! It’s amazing how quickly these things move isn’t it? We’re hoping to be in by late August too. Time to nest before baby arrives (and of course for my mum to have a good nosey around, she’s dying to get in! Ha ha)

I have loads of maternity clothes from first time round but I have bought a few extra T-shirt’s and leggings as all my lovely work dresses are less appropriate with a 1 year old to run after.

firstbabybell · 06/07/2020 22:00

@excitednerves @babyhope98 I am getting the odd bit of heartburn. It's really unpleasant but Rennie's seem to do the trick just now.

My friend gave me a top pregnancy tip for heartburn recently - your GP can prescribe Omeprazole which is safe in pregnancy. I fully intend to get on it when the Rennie's isn't working anymore!! X

Teaandbiscuits123 · 06/07/2020 22:00

@PipTed @Babyhope98 thank you guys - I’ll get onto the midwife - it’s hard keeping track of what should be happening vs what is actual getting done! 😕

RestorationInsanity · 06/07/2020 22:12

@MummyShark97 I've gone for maternity clothes in my normal size as I haven't changed size anywhere other than boobs/belly, or clothes in my usual size that are a bit longer/more relaxed fit. Think it will be a much reduced wardrobe compared to my non maternity wardrobe but can't see sizing up clothes being very flattering. Think it depends what your style is and how you're carrying though.
