@StrawberrySprinkles welcome to the group! I've got to have the glucose test too as my Dad has diabetes, although dips for urine with midwife have been fine. I've got mine at 28 weeks, they've said arrive at 8am and will be 2-3 hours, joy!!

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy lovely to hear from you. Glad you've managed to sort your work situation out. You must be super tired doing that job! I feel tired doing very little now!!

@blankiesandunicorns I go on NHS 28 week but it does seem to vary on apps too.

blankiesandunicorns · 02/07/2020 21:36

Ah thanks @LexiM and @Spark27 that does explain it! Either way, approaching the end ☺️

NWnature · 02/07/2020 22:21

Welcome @StrawberrySprinkles !

@Quiffy that is SUCH a good deal. I need to browse the website much more.

@CharlieBalf absolutely love the Finnish box, it looks like such lovely pieces. I’d never heard of it before. Lovely gift for someone close too! It sounds terrible but I’ve found so many good baby gifts now I’m actually expecting since the insta ads etc kicked in 😂 my poor friends up til now mostly just got cute outfits and whatever the first ‘must have’ that came up on google (gro egg and Euan sheep of late!). Now found so many lovely smaller companies and better ideas.

I like the look of the sea themed baby gym from
Mabel and Fox but think it’s maybe just aesthetically pleasing for us and the baby would prob prefer something brighter and more exciting.

Movement has been much less this week. I think because so busy at work. I actually popped into the office today , I can get the bus into central easily so wasn’t worried about germs and the office is closed. Oxford st and regent street were much busier than I expected when we drove through. Also a policeman got onto the bus and asked the only other passenger to put on a mask! They seem quite hot on the rules which is good. Actually felt so nice to be out and about. I still find this whole situation so surreal like we are living in the Truman show or something.

This pregnancy insomnia is fun isn't it?!

Wide awake again, just for no reason. I'm going to be exhausted tomorrow.

Spark27 · 03/07/2020 03:55

I was just about to post something similar @BntTowers. Sorry you're awake too, but glad to know I'm not on my own with it.
It's like after 2 nights of ok (6hrs) sleep my body has gone 'nope, that's it. You've had enough'. Urgh

Treaclepie19 · 03/07/2020 04:13

Joining the wide awake club waves 👋

I've had about 5 hours sleep and ds will be up in a bit 😩

@Spark27 @Treaclepie19 same been awake since 4ish for no reason eurgh makes me so annoyed. I just want solid sleep 😴

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 03/07/2020 05:56

@blankiesandunicorns I've also seen this a lot that 27 weeks is 3rd tri! Don't know why it's so confusing! Anyway only 1 week to go! Just over 2 weeks for me and I'm so excited will feel like another milestone.

Thanks everyone for my welcome back!

Sorry to all those who are struggling to sleep. Or stay asleep.

I'm off work now until Monday so very excited about that. I should really be finishing off decorating lounge and starting babies room but I'm probably going to take it easy instead xx

BntTowers · 03/07/2020 08:18

@Spark27 I try not to pick up my phone when I wake up during the night, but I had been awake since about 3am. Feel like I just managed to get back to sleep when my alarm went off.
@AutumnBabyWinterMummy good luck if you decide to do the decorating, but everyone deserves a day off every now and then and if you are back to work on Monday I would take advantage and rest.

Spark27 · 03/07/2020 08:29

So lucky DH is here as even though DD woke at 0700 I managed to sleep again from 0600 for a few hours. Absolutely shattered though.

Quiffy · 03/07/2020 08:51

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy Good to see you back and that you've got maternity sorted. 45 hour weeks as a nanny must be KNACKERING. No wonder you're just crashing when you get home. When do you plan on starting your maternity?

@NWnature they have really good deals on there. I think you could get the same pram with a next to me style crib too. Lots of other deals too and ours came super quickly (a little too quickly, nursery is boxes again haha). That Mabel and Fox gym is lovely!

@Indigogirl88 I got a text from the maternity allowance people this morning (only sent Tuesday) to say they've got it. They're saying around 4 weeks for them to process atm.

Sorry for all the insomnia gang, feeling lucky that although I'm up 4-5 time to pee, I'm getting back to sleep atm.

Friday woo. Just need to get through today then off until Tuesday. TK Maxx is opening here on Monday and I'd like to go, but also don't want to be in a massive queue like the Primark ones last week. Also need to go to somewhere like Sainsburys for big pants and nighties - the glamour!

EllieGolightly · 03/07/2020 09:11

@StrawberrySprinkles I'm like yourself, been following along with everyone but I don't really post often. Just wanted to let you know I was diagnosed with GDM after my OGTT at 24 weeks. It was really disheartening at first, felt like I'd been a bad mum already, but you can't control how your body reacts to the increased hormones, and unfortunately insulin resistance is one of the things 5-10% of women will develop. There's a great group set up by a three time GDM mum called Gestational Diabetes UK in case you do test positive. Unfortunately the NHS advice for GDM is to treat you as if you have type 2 diabetes, but it's just not the same. They'll advise you to eat low fat everything, but a lot of the time the carbs are the same. I've thrown the diabetes dieticians advise out the window and have all my sugars in a very healthy range, except my morning fasting which is the hardest to control as that's the longest period of time your placenta gets to be in control. I may well end up on meds to control it, but it's such a short period of time. Have already told husband I'll be packing a dairy milk oreo bar to scoff as soon as the placenta is delivered Grin

LexiM · 03/07/2020 09:38

Sorry to hear you're all sleeping so badly. I feel very lucky that I seem to wake up throughout the night but look at the time and find it easy to go back to sleep most of the time. I find looking at an alarm clock rather than my phone makes a difference for me, the light on the phone seemed to always keep me awake. So weird.

@NWnature I can totally relate about the dilemma over having pretty things like that baby gym and going for what baby would like! 😂 I know deep down they love colour but the coloured gym are so ugly!

My husband is off work today so we are going to visit my Dad. He hasn't seen him for a few weeks so I expect will be shocked but I'm pleased that apparently hes moved to his new bed and is feeling more calm and rested. Hopefully that will make it easier to visit today.

Quiffy · 03/07/2020 10:41

@LexiM Enjoy your visit with your dad, hope he's as okay as he can be

MummyBearBoo · 03/07/2020 11:17

With you all on the bit about not sleeping great - DD won't sleep til bout 8.30-9pm at the mo by which point I go to bed awake watching TV but it's the only place I am comfy with my back apart from my birthing ball which I'm too tired to go on by that time!
The little one kicks when I first lay down but same as every other night goes crazy from 11.30pm-2am which stops me sleeping and wakes me up! She's then awake at 6am same as DD! Xxx

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 03/07/2020 12:04

@Quiffy at 33 and a bit weeks, I'm 25 now so 7/ 8 weeks now. I don't think I'd manage much longer with those hours. What about everyone else when are you finishing?

@LexiM hope the visit today goes ok for you both and hope your dad is feeling ok xx

Quiffy · 03/07/2020 12:20

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy That sounds really sensible, at least it's not long now! Planning on September 1st for me, I only wfm but it's tiring dealing with lots of demanding people. Cannot wait! Got a week's holiday planned in between then and now too woo.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 03/07/2020 12:44

@Quiffy so how many weeks will you be then? The weeks holiday sounds nice too! I'm using mine just before mat leave starts so I don't officially start mat leave til about 35 x

BntTowers · 03/07/2020 13:00

I've just figured out I've got 49 working days left at most, possibly 46 if I get to use my remaining holiday days.

Quiffy · 03/07/2020 13:08

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy Ill be 35 weeks :) and I've set my maternity allowance to start from then. Very much looking forward to being happily bored in the house for 4/5 weeks before baby gets here.

@BntTowers I love work procrastination to count down the days hehe. Less than 50 now - the countdown is definitely on!

Spark27 · 03/07/2020 13:15

My last official working day is 10th Sept. I only work part time now and am taking 2 weeks of leave from the 14th. My maternity leave is due to start on my EDD on the 27th Sept. But I'm really lucky in that I'm currently 'WFH' but as I cant actually do anything work aren't expecting me to do anything. I'm contracted to work 23 hrs per week, but I'm probably doing about 10hrs with online courses and stuff.

Had an email from work to say they're sticking to 2m distancing and not letting vulnerable people in. So I think that's me out til Oct 2021! So weird.

Having DD to look after is definitely a struggle, esp on days when I've slept poorly. But I'm definitely very lucky. Feel for all those struggling with fulltime work xx

BntTowers · 03/07/2020 14:06

@Quiffy I've just had enough of it all. I am struggling to concentrate with the lack of sleep amongst other things.

In good news think I just got a bargain for a new with tags sleepsuit. DH doesn't see anything wrong with baby just wearing boring plain sleepsuits. Not sure why he would possibly think that when I'm involved...

Early Oct Babies Part 6
Quiffy · 03/07/2020 14:51

@Spark27 feels crazy when you say Oct 21! Plus, looking after DD is more than a full time job, growing a baby is a major job and part-time work on top of that - it all adds up to being knacked.

@BntTowers Adore that sleepsuit super cute. DHs are silly, mine is always wondering why I have so many different ones in colours and designs. I got a christmas vest and sleepsuit today with a santa hat. He's like "what's this for?" Christmas, ovbiously.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 03/07/2020 17:59

@BntTowers I've also started the countdown, 40 for me!! Can't come quick enough!

@Spark27 oh that all sounds so good with work!

I've rang my midwife today to tell her about the heavy feeling down below (it's the third episode I've had of it and last time it felt like the baby was falling out- obv I knew it wasn't but that's how it felt 😂) she said it sounds like spd and probably from all the standing and lifting etc. So if continues I can get physio for it xx

Indigogirl88 · 03/07/2020 20:03

@Quiffy thanks for the update on the allowance! Just waiting for my smp1 form now

I've had a weird week, work is starting to get to me, they're lovely but its taking its toll and I'm getting very tired, can't believe I'm only 26 weeks. I overdid it tonight as well with the housework, so my backs out for a bit.

I need to find some energy as I promised myself a pamper night tonight as well, which surely must include chocolate
