I meant screen not scream! I think the baby screams will be bad enough without having a machine that screams at you too!

Essentially you can prep a bottle in 2-3 minutes rather than up to 30 mins if you just use water straight out of a kettle. Apparently it gives a small shot of boiling water to sterile the milk powder and then the rest of the water comes out at the right temperature for feeding so the bottle can be used immediately. Obviously if it’s all kettle water then it will take time to cool down.

I sound like a Tommee Tippee rep but I’m really not just a person who has spent a lot of lockdown researching products!

TerribleImagination · 23/08/2020 11:58

I’ll deffo be buying a perfect prep! One of my friends absolutely swears by it. I’m planning on combination feeding, so definitely want to take the hassle out of the bottle part 😃

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 13:14

@MrsB16 ooo tempted by that offer! Though you definitely don't need to dry them as the water droplets are sterile, it does help with them dripping all over the counter ect when you take them out.

@MilsCookie get the day and night one though! The day perfect prep beeps very loudly so if you have it on your bedroom (which is kind of what it's for) it will get very annoying. It's more expensive but the amount we are going to use it, worth it!

I'm pumping breast milk too, supposedly, so I hope to mix feed, but not doing baby to breast this time, I just can't hack it with twins. I've done my time with my last two 🤷‍♀️

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 13:16

@MrsB16 that discount is so good though, I am seriously considering getting it. The sterilising setting is pretty quick isn't it? Like 6 minutes or something? I just don't want to spend more then that too, fed up with this constant outlay!

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 13:19

This is the nuby u.v one if anyone is interested, sterilises in 3 minutes, absolutely brilliant piece of kit but too small for twin bottle feeding unfortunately, though at that speed it could be done. Too pricey for me to consider anyway I think, though it's still cheaper then some electric ones

@MilsCookie John Lewis currently has a white perfect prep day and night for 100 pounds instead of like 130, the in laws are buying ours so I've pointed them in the right direction 😏. Doubt it'll go down cheaper then that before we have our babies. Mine are also being delivered early so between 35-37 weeks so October babies for me 😬

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 13:25

Oh I'm also getting this to keep pumped breast milk cold for night feeds so hopefully don't have to use the perfect prep for every feed, especially the night ones as breast milk can be kept for 24 hours in the fridge and a good 8-10 hours in a cool bag such as this of its been refrigerated first

You can tell it's Sunday and I'm lazing on the sofa with mumsnet 😆

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 13:32

@TerribleImagination yes get the day and night, and make sure you or your man keep it serviced/cleaned once a month, and only use the proper branded filters. People who don't do this are the ones who have had issues with mould and limescale or the water not heating to the correct temperature ect. If you look after it correctly they are absolutely brilliant 🍼🍼

MilsCookie · 23/08/2020 14:43

Uh oh.... 🙈 I got suckered in by that amazing deal @MrsB16 thanks so much for sharing the discount code!!! I'm completely trusting all your hard work and research and just went for it... I haven't even looked at any other brands which is not like me at all, I normally research everything in full!! Will be okay for twins?!

Anyone have any advice on best bottles? Got a few free ones with all this but there are so many options again I have no idea!!

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 15:57

@MilsCookie MAM 👍🍼 they are the best as you can also sterilise them in the microwave, they're the only ones you can do this with

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 16:01

All those filters as well @MilsCookie with the prep day and night, that is good 💃💃

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 16:09

@MrsB16 with those filters it had to be done! John Lewis could swivel. Thank you 🥰🥰

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 16:10

Can't do the steriliser yet as totally broke, the prep was the in laws purchase, but hopefully the code will stay around for a while 🙏

MrsB16 · 23/08/2020 16:13

I’ve used it for weeks and it seems to still work and somebody passed it onto me! So hopefully will just keep going 🤞🏻

MilsCookie · 23/08/2020 16:55

It's good isn't it with all those free filters! I wonder why yours was £103 and mine was £108?! @ChampooPapi

Thank you, I'll look into MAM bottles. I'm on a local twin WhatsApp group and someone said they use NUK bottles and if you email them saying you're having twins they send you a free gift pack with free dummies and bottles! This is what she said:

"It’s really cute. You email them to say boy or girl and they send you a pack per twin of little bottles, larger bottles and 2 dummies and little rattles."

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 17:28

@MilsCookie yes the nuk are great too, I used them.woth the latex tweets for my last when I stopped breast feeding at 12 months. But being able to sterilise the mam ones where ever you are if there is a microwave is just so convenient. I actually got mine second hand hand on eBay, but I know some people don't like to do this, though obviously they are just plastic that can be sterilised. I've just brought all new teats. With twins they estimate having about 16 bottles is a good amount, and go straight for the bigger ones (the small ones you use for such a short time). I do have small ones in Medela though for the first few weeks I already had.

This feeding thing is complicated! I'm so used to just feeding on demand by breast, bottles are going to such an extra burden 🙄

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 17:30

And so much more expensive with formula so definitely going to give pumping my best shot for a few months at least on combination. I can see that going down the drain fast though after a c section and premature babies, oh god it's getting so real now 😬

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 17:44

@MilsCookie yes it's weird because it seems if you do the items separately they are a bit cheaper, only a few quid though

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 17:51

Though hang on, if we do the maths I think it works out the same in 'total' it just says it's more but I don't think it actually is 🤦

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 17:54

I obviously just dipped into my savings and brought it @MrsB16, after your code and recommendation it was kind of a no brainer. Although I'm not bothered with the drying situation, I think this model has rated better generally then the Tommy Tippie one that just sterilises, that one has a lot of complaints about the element burning out, and this upgrade is well recommended on the thread I created as well as well as being Mumsnet best 2020 steriliser.

MrsB16 · 23/08/2020 17:59

Well I’m finally moving into my forever home tomorrow after 6 months living in 3 different flats so I can finally take it out of the box (as well as a million other baby items that have remained untouched in the storage cupboard for months!- I can finally build my pram!!) I’m going to give it a trial run this week so will let you know how I get on!

ChampooPapi · 23/08/2020 18:07

@MrsB16 that's great news! After so many moves you'll appreciate being settled so much though, we moved three times in a year and I will never take for granted how wonderful it feels to be in your home, safe and warm and settled. It really turns your world upside down having to move so much and live out of suitcases ect, I remember not being able to find any trousers for about 6 months 😆. I have up in the end, I wasn't working so just stuck to my partner's jogger and skirts!

You should put a teddy in your pram when you test it out ☺️

TerribleImagination · 23/08/2020 20:13

I bought the perfect prep with the code today too haha! You all inspired me 😂
