@Leok83 it's Friday morning 😅
I'll be 7w6... hopefully it will show

ChampooPapi · 19/08/2020 16:33

@SunnySideUp2020 oh dam I've got you a day ahead then. I'll make a note of what they tell you on Friday due date wise and update it, you may even be further ahead which would be great! These days are bloody hard for you I know, the quease train is ALWAYS on time from the moment one wakes up, it's horrific. Just one hour at a time, it will pass I promise, and it really is generally a very good sign that hormones are increasing 🥰

SunnySideUp2020 · 19/08/2020 16:46

@ChampooPapi no it was correct the list. I was 7w3 yesterday and 7w6 on friday :)
Honestly this nausea has ruined my time in Reunion island BUT this morning i was ok and the day had been good.
Been obviously frantically googled loss of symptoms 😅😅😅

ChampooPapi · 19/08/2020 16:58

@SunnySideUp2020 sorry my brain had dribbled out my ears recently 🤦. It really really blows being so ill

SunnySideUp2020 · 19/08/2020 17:04

@ChampooPapi double baby brain for you 💛💛

Leok83 · 19/08/2020 17:15

@SunnySideUp2020 oh very exciting!! It's great to get the early scans..I can't imagine what a nervous crock id be by 12 weeks otherwise!! I'm going to have had 3 scans by time I get to 12 week scan!!Best of luck with yours!!

MilsCookie · 19/08/2020 19:21

Thanks for all the encouragement girls 😘 @Leok83 that's a great scan pic, so happy for you!!

So we had the longest day ever. Arrived at the hospital at 10:30 and didn’t leave till 5pm (we did have an hour’s break for lunch). They were really thorough and we had a fetal cardiac specialist do a thorough examination of their hearts. The good news is that both babies look anatomically normal with good heart function. But the smaller twin still has those two genetic soft markers and we still have to decide whether or not we want to have the amniocentesis done (which can cause miscarriage - 1-2% risk) to determine whether there is a genetic problem. We only have a week left to decide as the cut off is around 21 weeks. So we feel positive but we still have this awful decision to make and our heads are a bit fucked!!

On a lighter note... twin 2 was enjoying putting her butt in twin 1's face today 🤣 xx

@MilsCookie Poor you and DP, what a long day!! I’m no expert, but that sounds promising that their hearts are functioning properly and they’re anatomically fine! Did the consultant mention risk for abnormalities, based on what they saw today?

I’m not surprised you’re feeling totally messed up in the head, with that decision to make RE the amnio. Sending love to you both!

I did giggle at twin 2 putting her bum in twin 1’s face 😂 that’s brilliant!

I hope you guys have managed to have a restful evening ❤️ Xxx

SunnySideUp2020 · 20/08/2020 04:36

@MilsCookie glad to read your update.
You are left in the same situation which is really unhelpful but at least you have the option for further testing. But the risk associated isn't great i agree... must be tough on you. I hope you find the right decision for you and your DP 💕💕

Another lovely scan pic of your girls, the butt in the face made me laugh too 😄

Leok83 · 20/08/2020 08:43

@MilsCookie you poor things that's a really tough decision. But it does sound really positive that everything looks normal.

The scan pic is so funny😄!

ChampooPapi · 20/08/2020 09:45

@MilsCookie that is great news on the growth , such a relief that they are thriving in there as we both know all the myriad of things that can go wrong or be picked up but if you get the kind of results you've just had at twenty weeks, your basically in the clear for the foreseeable. On the amino , I mean, you know my personal feelings on it, but it is 100 percent based on whether YOU would continue with the pregnancy if you found out that one of the twins does have a chomosonal issue. I know in America for instance many have amino as standard instead of the Tri screening so they are certain, it is a procedure that is done a lot, but now at twenty weeks it is a very difficult decision for you both. Impossible really, I feel for you so much because you feel like your dammed if you do and dammed if you don't in this one. If you don't though you can rest assured they will both be delivered safely and well. That is what you both want so maybe it just isn't something you need to do

BecsterG · 20/08/2020 13:19

@MilsCookie that scan photo is hilarious. Really sorry you're in this difficult position. It really is a tough call but all you can do is go with your gut I think. Very difficult for you both.

Got my scan tomorrow morning but haven't felt any morning sickness since yesterday 🙁
Super anxious about tomorrow now 😪😪

When i was sick i was hoping it would stop now it has and i am sure it gone wrong again ...

MilsCookie · 20/08/2020 15:33

Thanks ladies. I think we've decided against the amniocentesis but I've found a more comprehensive version of the NIPT which looks at X/Y chromosomes as well - so could pick up chances of Turners Syndrome (which can be associated with having an absent ductus venosus - what our twin 1 has). So I'm going to try and get that done ASAP. I think we both just feel that because they looked structurally normal, then the chances are probably low because so many chromosomal abnormalities are also linked with things like heart/kidney/facial defects, which our girls don't have. My NT results at 12 weeks also came back very low risk for downs, Edwards and Pataus.

We know that by not having the amniocentesis we are risking having babies born with a genetic disorder, but we have decided we would continue with the pregnancy anyway. And we wouldn't want to risk having a miscarriage. So it's a worrying position to be in, but we're just going to hope and pray for the best as they both looked perfect on the scans yesterday. Also, if I was only pregnant with twin 2 (our bigger twin) she has absolutely no soft markers whatsoever and is growing spot on, looks healthy etc, so we wouldn't even be having this debate!! The other thing is that, if TTTS develops between them and I have to have laser surgery to separate the blood vessels, they can perform amniocentesis at the same time. Obviously I'm really hoping they don't develop TTTS! But that option is still there if it does.

We feel better now we've made a decision, even though it hasn't been easy.
Who ever said pregnancy was easy!!!!!! 😩

@SunnySideUp2020 please try not to worry about your sickness - I worried the whole first trimester about not having it and mine were fine at 12 weeks and (supposedly) developing fine!! What time is your scan tomorrow? Xx

Annny27 · 20/08/2020 15:42

Dinosaur sneaking in just to reply:

@MilsCookie I didnt want to sway your decision in any way by offering opinions but thats what I would have done and I think you are doing the right thing 💗💗 all the best xxx

@sunnysideup2020 good luck tomorrow 💗

Whiffle77 · 20/08/2020 15:51

Ahhh @MilsCookie it sounds like you had a really psitive scan but it still hasn't given you all the answers you need! Pregnancy is tough. All you can do is weigh up all your options and the info together with your partner and decide what is best for you - it sounds like you have done exactly that!

So try and relax (!!!!) Now that you have made that decision and enjoy what you can of your pregnancy - as you say a lot of positives came out of your scan. There will always be something to worry us all the way through, we just have to try and not let it derail us!

When is your next scan, will you get more info then or is it a case of waiting for the birth now? Other than the nipt option you mentioned

Sending you lots of love, you sound very level headed about it which is good!

SunnySideUp2020 · 20/08/2020 17:54

@MilsCookie thank you for the reassuring words x
My scan is at 10:30 so 8:30 uk time.
It looks like you have made the right decision. Right in the sense that you are comfortable with it and it is very positive. As human we tend to focus on the small probability that something could go wrong and perhaps forget to see the bigger picture (i am 100% guilty of this). 💛💛 your girls are lucky to have you

@Annny27
thank you lovely 🦕💕💕💕

Will keep you updated tomorrow x

MilsCookie · 20/08/2020 18:09

Ahhh thank you for checking in Miss @Annny27!!! Your words mean a lot to me 😘 still always rooting for you to get your BFP!! It's long overdue!! Hope you're doing okay xx

@Whiffle77 thank you... yes we are definitely trying to relax now I just feel sad that we can't FULLY enjoy the pregnancy. But at the same time we feel lucky to be pregnant when we have so many friends and family who are struggling or going through IVF.
So I actually called fetal medicine this afternoon to ask them about the NIPT, and they offer it there for £300 but it only covers downs, Edwards and Pataus. I asked about the one I'd found and the midwife was quite dismissive about it and said that they're often money making schemes and they might be testing for something that you don't actually need to worry about. I said we both still felt quite confused about what actually genetic disorders these two soft markers could mean, and she has arranged for us to see the most senior fetal medicine consultant on Tuesday so we can ask more questions without feeling rushed. I was meant to be going back on weds anyway to have my dopplers redone (what I usually have done fortnightly but they wanted to check weekly just to be sure there's no TTTS!) but they've moved it all to be done on Tuesday.

I was also told yesterday that because one twin has restricted growth that the max they'll stay in will be 34 weeks... which means delivery around mid to late November 😅🙈 which means they'll definitely be needing some time in NICU. What a rollercoaster!!

@SunnySideUp2020 I will be thinking of you tomorrow - how many weeks will you be? Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 xx

ChampooPapi · 20/08/2020 18:12

@MilsCookie that is great news you have both come to a decision. I'm assuming it's the panorama or Iona nipt which is excellent, and actually the one I was trying to have all those months ago but had to settle with the harmony. At least your very knowledgeable about it after all those discussions we had ☺️ those tests are absolutely fantastic and test for lots of extra things as well if you request so you will be completely covered. Agreed that your girls are very lucky to have you both on their side fighting for the best

@SunnySideUp2020 you poor thing, the waiting is so hard, but just one more sleep and you'll be in that waiting room ♥️

SunnySideUp2020 · 20/08/2020 18:14

@MilsCookie
I should be 7w6 from lmp
But i ovulated late so more like 7w4 i think..
We will see xx

SunnySideUp2020 · 20/08/2020 18:16

@ChampooPapi yes 💕
...and the sleep is NOW!
9:15 pm here and shamelessly going to bed....

ChampooPapi · 20/08/2020 18:19

@MilsCookie sorry you posted at the same time pretty much so I only just saw your update. I really think you need to have the nipt to be prepared as the NHS test was obviously complete nonsense considering the markers that have been picked up, so I would definitely dismiss it at this stage, so you are still very much in the dark about whether one of the twins even has down syndrome. Although that is incredibly unlikely, your NHS test for instance gave me a much higher chance then me of your babies being uneffected by those issues, yet my nipt came back completely clear and your in this position of their being soft markers for one of your twins. This appointment you have is so good so you can discuss this all because I am really surprised you were not offered the nipt at least for a reduced price on the NHS. Most trusts should offer this is you are unwilling to do the amino to eliminate downs, though Edwards and pataus would no doubt have already been identified by the scans

ChampooPapi · 20/08/2020 18:21

@SunnySideUp2020 girl that's late 😆 you should be snoozing already , get in the snuggle and rest now 🥰

ChampooPapi · 20/08/2020 18:22

@MilsCookie

That was meant to say your NHS test for instance gave you

ChampooPapi · 20/08/2020 18:26

@MilsCookie thank goodness that you are seeing someone senior because you both have been through enough without this added confusion and you want advise on which nipt, and where to have it. Maybe they will even advise against it as in the end it isn't diagnostic, it is still a percentage and only the panorama will test each individual twin, and gives separate results for each. The harmony like we spoke about before just tells you if there is an issue, but not which one
