@BS9790 I think with our placenta position we need to accept that we won't have a pattern until 28 weeks or later. The fact that women have quiet days much further than us makes me feel abit calmer as our babies are much smaller still, so quieter days will be more expected. I don't have a Doppler but my midwife has offered to check the heartbeat weekly for me which is an offer I'm going to take! She's been wiggly today but she's still not very strong at all. Just very light taps and pops. I'll be finding out in 4 weeks what position she's in at my next scan as she was frank breech last time! Glad you have felt movement today! It's going to be a worrying time until we have our patterns but we just need to keep calm (easier said than done!) there's always something to worry about! I thought I'd be calm after my 20'week scan lol xxx

FireflyGirl · 10/07/2020 09:06

@AlviesMam I know from DS that I'll never be calm. I still used to go check he was breathing in the night when he was 2!

This pregnancy is very different to DS. She's laid transverse, so I feel lots of pushing over on the right side where her feet are, and near my belly button where her hands are, but she still likes to boot my bladder. With DS, I used to feel very pronounced kicks, whereas it's more wriggling with this one. The nausea went away much earlier, and my skin has been better as well.

I'm looking forward to the gym being able to reopen, I want to start building my fitness back up with swimming. Until then, I've ordered a birthing ball to start doing pregnancy exercises on.

Whiffle77 · 10/07/2020 14:55

I've checked that my friends babies are still breathing, so god only knows how neurotic I will be about my own flipping child 🙈 doesn't beat thinking about!
I've been doing workouts at home which have kept my anxiety at bay a bit - plus want to keep my strength and fitness up like you @FireflyGirl
@Zoey36 hope you are OK, you have been quiet since your rubbish day recently.
I felt some pops last night so hoping this is the start of me feeling movement!

BecsterG · 10/07/2020 18:39

Amazing picture @ChampooPapi

I hope you ladies are ok. Happy Friday!

It looks like my DS might be going back to nursery on Wednesday! I've got everything crossed as I've been so stressed working and having him at home. This week he been so tough!

Happy Monday everyone! How are we all doing? xx

ChampooPapi · 13/07/2020 14:52

Hey @TerribleImagination how things your end? I've got a bit of a head on me today, just flopping on the sofa attempting to parent from a distance 😆

MilsCookie · 13/07/2020 15:08

Hey lovely @TerribleImagination I have had a constant headache now for the last 3 days and just want to chop my head off 😩😖. That's after having one every day for over a month now! So I'm like @ChampooPapi and basically just lying on the sofa not doing much. I've been researching sleeping options for twins and I don't know what to doooooo... Champoo what are you planning on doing for yours? Will you put them together at the start? Moses basket? Sleepyhead? Snuz pods? Cots? I can't cope with all the options haha 🙈

MilsCookie · 13/07/2020 15:10

@TerribleImagination p.s. how are you doing? How's the sickness? We're officially in the second trimester now!! 🥳 🙌🏻

ChampooPapi · 13/07/2020 15:29

@MilsCookie it really is the worst isn't it? As I said I think it will be around 16 weeks ish that they completely go for you, but they can obviously return for a multitude of reasons. Obviously important in third and later second trimester to watch out for them as they can be an indication of pre eclampsia, I'm actually getting my blood pressure taken tomorrow as well as another urine dip tear as I thought mine were long gone and the past 3 days I've been back to the good old 1st trimester days of massaging my own head while wearing a cool pack on the sofa. Took codein yesterday and paracetamol, blow it I thought, I'm fricking diying here!.

On the sleeping situation I am definitely doing separate, I did a snuzpod with my last with a sleepyhead inside (yes I know your not supposed to do that for night time but thousands do so 🤷‍♀️).

I will be doing the same for these ones so got another snuzpod second hand and another sleepyhead, also second hand this time and they used it for less then a month so I'm not changing the mattress this time around. With the first one I brought I used little green sheep to replace the mattress, they do some really good waterproof protectors as well.

When they grow out they will either go in separate cots or bed share a double bed we already have (on the floor obviously to avoid rolling out).

I think guidelines for twins are as soon as they can roll to separate them anyway as they can restrict each other's airways by rolling into each other. Though post 6 months they are both able to roll free and wiggle away so co sleeping them is then fine.

Whatever works for you really, but I'd definitely advise second hand next to me cribs if your going down that route and just get new mattresses, as they cost so much and by 5 months sometimes they have grown out of the dam things!

Gumtree is your friend 🙏

Oo also on buggy front I've gone for the mountain duet as it's so slim, we have the swift already and they are the same widths. They can have two carseats simoltaniously as well with the use of an adapter clip. We also got ours on Gumtree, did go for a very new model so was still 250 pounds, but way better then paying 700! All components of these things are washable too. Think I'm forgoeing the basinets this time, although the carry Cott plus is cool because it transforms into a parent facing seat up to three years ☺️

ChampooPapi · 13/07/2020 15:31

Important note about the snuz @MilsCookie that the 1 and 2 are the same dimensions but the snuz 3 is wider. Very useful information when purchasing new sheets/mattresses/protectors.

TerribleImagination · 13/07/2020 15:40

Heeeey @ChampooPapi and @MilsCookie! All good here! The nausea is still on its way out, woohoo! Well, I hope so anyway! It’s deffo not gone yet, but it’s loads better and I can eat much more normal things now, which is wonderful! 😍 I’ve just been to the hairdressers too! Feeling all fancy with nice hair again haha!

Boooo to both of your headaches, you poor things! I get the occasional one, but it must make them so much worse when there’s two little bubba’s in there! I hope you both get some relief from the pain soon!

ChampooPapi · 13/07/2020 15:49

@TerribleImagination oh good for you on the hair situation, I went last week and got fully shawn after months of it driving me mad. It was half way down my back and is now chin length, so liberating to just wash and go.

It's also very litberating when the sickness fades and life begins a new. I am so happy that it's waning a lot for you now, honestly it's not something that returns unless you get very tired or run down. You are through it now and you'll only feel better within yourself. The first trimester is actually hell to be completely honest isn't it? What with one thing and another.

I can't promise you won't be also laying with a cold pack on your head in a month or two time though! But at least you can be comforted that you'll be able to gorge on pretty much anything without getting repulsed by it!

MrsB16 · 13/07/2020 16:03

Hi ladies @MilsCookie and @ChampooPapi sorry to hear about your headaches, I had them at the start of lockdown which I attributed to home working on a little laptop screen but saw the GP and she said it is a classic second trimester symptom and she didn’t understand why it isn’t more widely talked about like sickness etc as it can be just as bad. I hope you feel better soon!

I also second Gumtree, we are still in the process of moving house (although we hope to complete by the time I’m 34 weeks so nothing like a bit of added pressure). I didn’t want to buy baby furniture that could potentially get damaged in the move so just in case things take a little longer we bought a changing table from Gumtree. It’s M&P and was brand new, the couple decided they didn’t like it once they had built it so couldn’t take it back! It was a £329 changing table that they sold to us for £50! I find the key with gumtree is you have to be quick as the good stuff sells very quickly but there are some amazing bargains to be had!

I breathed another sigh of relief today as I have hit the 30 week milestone, I’m so happy that my weeks now begin with a 3 and feel the end is in sight although I’m sure these last 10 weeks will drag. I’ve started talking about my work hand over and have my official leaving date of 4 September so everything is starting to feel a little more real now. I also had my pram delivery on Saturday, it came in 5 boxes, you don’t realise how much stuff little people come with until it’s filling the spare room!

I have started planning my nursery in my new house and I’m really excited about that as I was sad I may not have the chance to do a proper nursery. We have gone for a safari theme and I have started buying a few bits here and there. I’ve planned the nursery more than any other room of the house and my husband keeps reminding me that she isn’t sleeping in there for at least 6 months and she probably doesn’t care which giraffe table lamp I pick but it’s just so exciting. I can’t wait to have a perfect room for her.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

MilsCookie · 13/07/2020 16:04

@ChampooPapi thanks for all the tips lovely, I can always count on you!! I think I'm definitely swaying towards getting two snuz pods - I'm LITERALLY gonna have no money left buying everything twice 🙈 but will definitely check out gumtree. Buggies are a whole other level of mindf*ckery that I can't bring myself to think about yet 😂 I definitely want to be able to attach the car seats to the peak and probably gonna go for one that's not side by side purely because our new house has a narrow corridor so I don't think a double one would fit? Also which cool pack do you use? I've just been using a cold wet flannel which does the trick for a bit but then I always have to re-wet it and it's annoying haha.
Sorry your headaches have returned ☹️ hope everything is okay with your blood pressure tomorrow. 🤞🏻 let us know how you get on.

@TerribleImagination woohoooo I'm so pleased for you! Must feel good to be able to eat things again no?! Ahhhh I need to book a hair appointment so badly. I usually have blonde balayage highlights and now I'm wondering whether I can do that whilst pregnant? Have you bought anything else yet? Xx

MilsCookie · 13/07/2020 16:05

*attach car seats to the PRAM, not peak! 🤦🏼‍♀️ bloody autocorrect and not being able to edit posts on MN!!

TerribleImagination · 13/07/2020 19:31

@ChampooPapi Oh it really is! Just being able to eat vegetables again is amazing! I still don’t fancy all the food I used to, but I’m hoping I’ll get better and start wanting more of my normal diet 🤞🏻 Yep, the first trimester is just grim isn’t it? I don’t think I know anyone who enjoyed it 😂

I hope I don’t get too bad headaches, but if I do like you say at least I’ll be able to eat while suffering 🤣

@MilsCookie I just got by balyage touched up and my roots done 😍 It’s totally fine while pregnant. I think it was back in the day people used to say you couldn’t dye your hair, but no one seems to say otherwise now 🤷🏻‍♀️

ChampooPapi · 13/07/2020 20:58

@MilsCookie the mountain buggy duet is the same width as a normal pram so will fit through standard doors fine, that's why we are getting it. You may still go for tandem style but I think a lot of people end up swapping them for side by side so they can both see, especially as they make a few now which are fine to fit through a single door

ChampooPapi · 13/07/2020 21:00

@MilsCookie we also have a narrow alley leading to our front door, obviously measure it but the bugaboo and the duet are both very slim, like 70cm or something so are designed to fit through a single standard door frame.

MilsCookie · 14/07/2020 09:29

@ChampooPapi oooo really? I'll definitely check that one out then 😊 I want to go to some actual shops to see them in person and have a go with them as it's my first time doing this!

@TerribleImagination ahh thank you, that's good to know!! I'm definitely going to get mine done then!

Has anyone got any scans coming up soon? My next one is a week tomorrow 😬 entering the scary stage where TTTS is most likely (between 16-26 weeks) 😩 starting to feel terrified!!

ChampooPapi · 14/07/2020 11:18

@MilsCookie yes I think most people will warm you off a tandem style, one not being able to see is a bit of an odd one! And I think they become annoying as they are so long. Forgot to answer your question about the cold packs. I use these ones that I was given after having laser treatment on my face but they are pretty great on the head for alleviating the pain especially around the front of your head, forehead area. I'll link a similar one on Amazon I saw the other day

Whiffle77 · 14/07/2020 11:46

Hi @TerribleImagination I'm OK thank you, hope you and everyone else is too? I've bought a new pregnancy pillow and have slept an awful lot better which has made me feel lots more human!! Also had quite a "normal" weekend which was refreshing - went out to dinner, had friends round etc.
The pops in my tummy have got a lot stronger very quickly which is really exciting, I'm loving feeling them!
My 20 week scan is a week today @MilsCookie I'm a mixture of excited and terrified! My anxiety will def start ramping up im sure.
Dying hair is fine too, see the NHS website - I'm having my highlights done and a cut tomorrow and I really cannot wait!! Last went in January so it is very overdue.
Still a bit unsure if I should be going to hairdressers and out for dinner as I'm pregnant, but I don't think the risk is that high until later in pregnancy...its hard though to know what to do!

MilsCookie · 14/07/2020 12:33

@ChampooPapi thanks so much for that - I'll definitely get one! Yeah the idea of the tandem prams does annoy me because of how long they'll be - I just didn't realise you could get side by side ones that are so narrow!! That's brilliant though Smile

@Whiffle77 good to hear from you lovely! Wow I can't believe it's almost your 20 week scan! That seems to have come round quickly. Are you still not going to find out the gender? I know what you mean about not knowing what feels right or safe in terms of social distancing and pregnancy! I'm still very much staying inside and haven't seen too many people. Getting a bit of cabin fever though! Which pregnancy pillow did you get? I've been researching them too but they all seem massive?!

Whiffle77 · 14/07/2020 13:00

I know I can't believe it either - its both gone fast and dragged! Still going to try not to find out. Are you going to find out at yours?
Its hard, I'm still only visiting friends outside and sticking to the rules - but I think the risk is far lower now and once winter comes and I have a newborn I will obviously not be out for dinner etc so I want to make the most of it - whilst still being safe! Its so difficult though.
I bought one huge v shaped one which was awful, but just bought the bamibi one from amazon which is much better and nowhere near as big!
Managed to pile on half a stone in two weeks which is not ideal, had a salad for lunch today!!!
Hope your DS is excited about going back to nursery @BecsterG that will be a great break for you!
