@DressingGown87 and @KitKatKit I admire your determination with renovations, I honestly don't know how you are surviving without bathrooms whilst pregnant in the summer. I am having showers twice a day lately (usually once a day is enough for me in my normal state), because I just feel so sticky by the end of the day, especially if I have been out walking or done loads of housework.

@DressingGown87 is that a series?
I've been rewatching all Disney stuff this week and absolutely love it.

KitKatKit · 18/07/2020 08:45

@DressingGown87 Did you get any respite last night? Hope you managed to get some rest.

@Mc3209 I was wondering whether it was smart or batshit crazy to do the works at 6 months pregnant Grin. In fairness we have another loo which helps with my need to wee 500 million times a day, and my sister lives around the corner so we pop in for a daily shower. It's not been too bad so far. I think @DressingGown87 has it tougher than me for sure!

DressingGown87 · 18/07/2020 09:34

@Mc3209 I’m just hoping the next 10days go quickly. I have no plasterboard on the stud work, so it’s an open plan space 🙈, but they have plumbed my old bath in so I can wash in there until Monday. And toilet is being connected in the evenings. It’s a series on bbc iPlayer, it’s really gripping, and lots of recommendations. Just read reviews saying don’t watch whilst pregnant.

@KitKatKit yes thank you, that helped lots! Hope you managed to get a good sleep too? I’m going with batshit crazy on my part. As I removed the downstairs wc last year, so only one. Not too bad in the evenings, but I’m WFH. Everyone from me is 20/25mins so going to have to drive there in the daytimes for a shower, when they are at work. Hope yours is finished too, and it will be worth it in the end ☺️

@DressingGown87 I have watched 3 episodes of The Secrets She Keeps and had to give it a rest as it was making me feel a bit weird! Might start it up again though...how far through are you?

roarfeckingroar · 18/07/2020 14:49

@Freddie1987 I watched it all in two sittings this week. I liked it, liked the acting, but found it a bit predictable and a few unanswered questions.

DressingGown87 · 18/07/2020 16:03

@Freddie1987 I only watched the first one, then forced myself to go to bed, could have easily watched more. @roarfeckingroar that’s good to know, will keep with it. Think it’s my Saturday night plan.

Morning ladies! I hope everyone’s having a great weekend!

Has anyone bought a baby carrier/sling just yet? I’ve been having a look at the Izmi as Argos have it down from £80 to £24.99 but wanted to get your thoughts!

Mc3209 · 19/07/2020 14:16

@FirstSurprise001 I bought Close Caboo which I am hoping will get me through 4 months at least starting from newborn, and after that I am planning on sticking the beastie in the buggy. However the disadvantage of Close Caboo is that if one wants to carry on with the sling past 5ish months then will need to buy a more structured one.

Izmi one looks pretty good! And that offer looks amazing.

1990shopefulftm · 19/07/2020 15:06

Woke up 3 times in the night last night which is the worst for my pregnancy so far. really didn't want to get up this morning but made myself a mini cooked breakfast and managed to walk almost 2 miles before my hip pain got bad, pre pregnancy it wouldnt have felt like an achievement but it does now.

roarfeckingroar · 19/07/2020 15:35

@FirstSurprise001 I bought an ergobaby embrace. I really like it from trying it on - really easy to buy. DP is getting an ergo omni 360.

Third trimester today! 28 weeks. Midwife on Tuesday. I'm going to talk to her about how I've been feeling (bloody awful, flat as the proverbial pancake, no interest in anything) but not sure what can be done as I'm already receiving peri natal therapy and on medication.

roarfeckingroar · 19/07/2020 15:37

@Mc3209 I'm now singing "beastie in the buggy" over and over again.

LadyB90 · 19/07/2020 15:56

@FirstSurprise001
I also went for a close caboo but hadn't heard of the one you're considering and it looks like a good offer!

@roarfeckingroar
Congrats on reaching third trimester! Hope your midwife is supportive at your appointment, it might just help talking things through with her.

Mc3209 · 19/07/2020 16:33

@roarfeckingroar I fell in love with Scottish colloquialisms since moving here, so catchy!
I hope your team will be able to come up with a solution to make you feel better. Congratulations on reaching 3rd trimester!

roarfeckingroar · 19/07/2020 16:57

@Mc3209 my favourite is without a doubt get tae f*ck Grin

Lolllyf · 19/07/2020 17:07

@FirstSurprise001 that looks good I hadn’t heard of it. I got an ergo baby omni 360 mesh second hand for £70 that looks barely used. It’s very structured and quite big and will only use it after a few weeks for walks I imagine. Doesn’t look like something you would use around the house. I want to get a stretchy sling, or a close caboo for at home and early on. Haven’t decided on one yet!

SJR86 · 19/07/2020 20:23

We are getting an ergobaby original with a newborn insert second hand from my SIL, hopefully that will work for us!

DressingGown87 · 19/07/2020 20:49

@FirstSurprise001 I’m getting the ergo baby 360 too as this is one the physio recommended for my pinned shoulder. Only can use it until she’s a certain weight. Then I’m hoping friends will carry her on walks. That looks a great bargain though!

@roarfeckingroar third and final trimester 🥳 Hope your feeling better soon, and talking to your midwife helps a little. Speaking through things, doing your plan, might help. One suggestion I’ve had is making a (realistic pandemic) list of all the things I would like to do before she’s born. Then a list of things to look forward to when she’s here. So I’ve signed her up for water babies (there is a waiting list), planned walks etc.

@roarfeckingroar as cliched as it sounds, would it be worth planning a bit of self-care in? Something truly for yourself that doesn't involve planning for baby. Such as treating yourself to a new pair of shoes, manicure, get stuck into a new hobby even? Is there a side of you you've been pushing to the wayside lately? It's probably exhausting you on a subconscious level if your every day apart from work is geared towards this upcoming life event. Reconnecting with yourself, truly, rather than you as 'Mum' might be of help. I know I'm definitely craving it sometimes! Definitely worth being completely honest with the midwife though x

Glooorb · 19/07/2020 21:52

@roarfeckingroar I hope you can get some support from the midwife... like the other poster, treat yourself with something nice? Sometimes we all need a bit of perk to lift spirits up.

I’m feeling crappy today as had a mini breakdown about pensions (of all things). My pension has actually decreased by £1000 in the 2019-20 year, and when I was looking into it I just got so overwhelmed by the N number of other different funds I could invest in. Talk about uninformed!!

@FirstSurprise001 we just got the ergobaby omni 360 today!! Very excited. It’s on sale at naturalbabyshower so we bit the bullet and went for it. DH did some research and said it was one of the best rated he had seen.

@DressingGown87 good point! I’m going to take a look at water babies. I didn’t even know there is a waiting list!

1990shopefulftm · 20/07/2020 18:02

had quite the 24 hours, started with the lights going off downstairs last night and realising we had a small leak in the kitchen ceiling,
so we were under the bath with torches, including me having to bend down to get rid of the spiders there and I managed to find the leak which i think isn't too bad for 26 weeks pregnant.

fortunately, the electrician's confirmed it's just one light that we need to replace and we'll need the plumber to replace at least one pipe so we don't need to claim on our insurance which was my initial stress last night , really wouldn't want our premium going up on mat leave.

DH just after getting rid of the other infection he had has been complaining of pain again so he's gone back to the walk in centre and i feel I don't want to say a bit useless but normally pre covid and pre-pregnancy I'd be able to go with him and do something but I have to stay at home and wait.

Focusing on baby and I are healthy and I have a midwife appointment to look forward to this week and going to try to have an evening with takeaway and tv whilst I wait to hear from DH.

roarfeckingroar · 20/07/2020 18:27

That's a lovely idea @Freddie1987 @Glooorb . Im going to drag myself out for an evening walk soon, try to kick my headache.

Mc3209 · 20/07/2020 19:56

@1990shopefulftm I am glad it wasn't anything more extensive. Hopefully you will be able to get it fixed easily.

I am back to work from annual leave day after tomorrow. So not in the mood for that. Eugh.

SamK93 · 20/07/2020 20:23

Awww no @1990shopefulftm what a 24 hours you've had. All that stress, I bet your glad it wasn't as bad as you anticipated.

I really hope your DH is okay? It's hard when you can't be with them, I hope everything turns out alright and he's feeling better soon. Just focus on yourself and baby, hope your having a nice evening x

1990shopefulftm · 20/07/2020 20:30

@Mc3209 we have to find new lights and get two trades booked in so shouldn't be too much damage.
@SamK93 he's uncomfortable but back home now, I m just glad he was allowed to be checked out in person. The takeaway delivery lifted my spirits a bit.
