@ChlOeWh I m due on the 26th, welcome to the group, everyone has been wonderful here :)

ChlOeWh · 08/07/2020 10:54

@1990shopefulftm Thankyou! ahh we're not far apart at all ☺️ are you looking forward to it?

Is there any way to be notified when there's a new thread to keep up with the late October group? I'm new to this app 🙈😂 xx

1990shopefulftm · 08/07/2020 11:05

@Ch0eWh whoever makes the new one tends to tag everyone in :)

DressingGown87 · 08/07/2020 11:17

@Mc3209 Glad hes back to normal now. I got checked last week, she is still quiet, but she is buried in to my back.

@Freddie1987 I think the pandemic hasn't helped one bit. I think because I'm WFH, not socializing, living alone, it's making me worry, and more anxious. They encourage me to go out, and my friends are great, but they are worried as they aren't particularly following the guidelines (partying, dating, shopping), working in busy environments, that they will pass something on to me. I think it's worth speaking to your MW, they have been great with understanding how I feel, and explain things better, and its helping. Hope your counselling helps.

@ChlOeWh Congratulations and welcome! Just ask / speak about anything. Everyone is really supportive.

@1990shopefulftm Yes I think its 12 weeks, but they do back date. Can't put in a claim until you have a birth certificate. If your going on to UC, I've been advised you can start that at anytime, and when they see a drop in income the payments will begin.

@DressingGown87 we re not eligible for UC until my SMP stops I believe so I don't think I can apply until April.

I checked and they re allowing an application without a birth certificate at the moment if you can't get to a registry office which is great since the local one has been shut since march I recon there ll be a bit of a backlog for them to get through.

I d planned out our finances assuming child benefit would only take a month or so to come in so need to put some money aside to make up for it just incase there's no back dated payment for a while.

ChlOeWh · 08/07/2020 11:41

@DressingGown87 @1990shopefulftm ah brilliant ☺️ Thankyou!!

Well just a little bit of info about me, I'm 25 with a 6 year old boy, Theo, who will be 7 in December from a previous relationship and currently 24+6 with a girl. Struggling to sleep properly at the moment, if I'm not waking up for a wee I'm waking up due to being really uncomfortable 😩 my pregnancy pillow hasn't done any wonders for me at all and I leave the house twice a day to do the school run and I dread it because I'm so out of breath walking🤦🏼‍♀️😂 I'm constantly tired and could probably sleep right up until baby is here 😂
It's going to be lovely to get to know you all and be with you throughout your pregnancy 🥰

1990shopefulftm · 08/07/2020 11:57

@ChlOeWh I m also 25, this is my first baby and we re having a boy. Yeah the getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night really throws me off too.

ChlOeWh · 08/07/2020 12:33

@1990shopefulftm nothing worse than broken sleep is there? I must wake up 3-4 times in the night needing a wee 🤦🏼‍♀️

roarfeckingroar · 08/07/2020 12:36

I do the same every night. My dreams are also bat shit. At least with WFH I can sleep in for longer. Definitely preparing us for sleep deprivation!

1990shopefulftm · 08/07/2020 12:39

@ChlOeWh at the moment it's happening once or twice for me, I m hoping my sleep doesn't get much worse before I start maternity leave

Mc3209 · 08/07/2020 12:46

@roarfeckingroar I second the crazy dreams! Completely bizarre stuff. Every night without fail.

TMI coming up - what's the craic with the discharge? I am so wet down there, starting to think of pantiliners.. and it appears to get more 'productive' as the weeks go on (nothing offensive, but the sheer volume..)

ChlOeWh · 08/07/2020 12:58

The dreams are ridiculous aren't they? 😂 they feel so real and are just absolutely mental... 😂

SamK93 · 08/07/2020 13:58

@1990shopefulftm late reply but I think at least if you labour in b&q you can have someone with you 😂😂

SamK93 · 08/07/2020 14:01

Welcome to the group @ChlOeWh @Danini

@Mc3209 my discharge has increased loads! I get scared sometimes thinking its something else and run to the toilet to check lol. Just wearing small panty liners now they're a life saver to be honest otherwise I'd be changing my knickers 5 times a day.

1990shopefulftm · 08/07/2020 14:05

@SamK93 my thoughts exactly, if it gets to September and nothing changes I m wondering if home births will be an option at all.

Ideally I want to be in the midwife led unit where there's more medical equipment but if I had to be there alone then mentally perhaps being at home could be better.
It being my first baby I know I won't have a clue when I ll have hit 4cm to be allowed to have DH with me, ideally I wouldnt be going to the unit until I was at least that far.

SamK93 · 08/07/2020 17:47

I totally understand what you mean @1990shopefulftm even though this is my third I feel like I won't know either, with my first I was 36 weeks pregnant exactly, 18 years old didn't even think I was in labour I was just having a few pains and when I went to get checked out I was 8cm dilated and my daughter came an hour later! With my second I was 37+4 but the pains were totally different that time round to the first time and i was in soooo much pain only to find out I'm only 3cm and I was stuck on 3cm for 11 hours. So every labour is different really so I don't even know what to expect myself this time.

1990shopefulftm · 08/07/2020 17:52

@SamK93 if you don't mind me asking were you allowed home in those 11 hours at 3cm?
I m so close to the hospital that I d hope I could be allowed home if I m not allowed a birth partner

SamK93 · 08/07/2020 17:59

@1990shopefulftm

Yeah I did, I initially went in around 4pm, they let me go home around 6. I came home for a few hours, went on a walk to get things moving too then when I went back around 10pm I got my own room upstairs on the midwifery let suite which was better than being on the delivery ward, I got to go in the pool etc and then they gave me a sweep and broke my waters a while after which eventually got it all moving.

1990shopefulftm · 08/07/2020 18:06

@SamK93 I didn't realise that having your waters broken on the midwife unit would be an option, are you planning a midwife unit birth this time?

roarfeckingroar · 08/07/2020 18:15

Anyone else feeling a bit flat and overwhelmed and scared? I've been so happy for ages but a few nightmares last night and reading a book that contains a pretty negative birth / postnatal experience have put me in a pretty crappy place

Mc3209 · 08/07/2020 19:12

@roarfeckingroar what stresses you the most? Or is it just the general situation?

KitKatKit · 08/07/2020 19:30

@roarfeckingroar Me! It's like as soon as I hit week 25 my emotions have totally taken over! I've been feeling pretty despondent, unsure of if I'll be a good mum, feeling pushed out of conversations at work already which is making me question what role I'll be coming back to after a year of Mat Leave. So many feelings and emotions and feeling like a bit of a trainwreck. And too scared to tell anybody in real life because I'm that person who "has their shit together" 😔

I'm sorry you're feeling flat too and hope it passes for us as quickly as possible x

SamK93 · 08/07/2020 19:32

@1990shopefulftm definitely, I prefer it there I felt a lot more relaxed, you have your own space and you can get discharged within 6 hours too as soon as all the checks are done and come back ok which is an advantage for me having two other children to think about at home too. My son was born at half 6 in the morning and I was home just after lunchtime.

SamK93 · 08/07/2020 19:35

@1990shopefulftm it is possible, they prefer the labour to progress naturally in midwifery led units but if they feel baby may be in distress or if they want to accelerate the labour, which was my case then they can break your waters x

Flora20 · 08/07/2020 20:06

Just catching up with the thread, the last few days have been manic with work - usually in the last couple of weeks of term things are winding down but not this year!

Welcome to the new ladies, hope you've had a good pregnancy so far!

I went out to a different town for the first time since March today - it all felt very daring! Took my daughter for a sandwich in a café, bought a sticker book and came home again 😂 but the most adventure we've had in months!

@roarfeckingroar I think it's normal to have ups and downs but try not to read anything negative, find some nice positive birth stories to balance it out! Remember to look after yourself too, take some time out to do something that makes you feel good 🙂
