No movements here but definite baby bump! I am small though so I agree with other posters- nowhere for the bump to go but out!

I also heard the heartbeat for the first time this morning at the midwife so that was super cool 💓

NatalieH2220 · 16/06/2020 13:28

I've put on about 9lb so far! I'm not too concerned at this point but will keep an eye as the weeks go on.

Got a good deal on a next to me crib so first big item arrived today, I wasn't planning to buy any of the big things until after the 20weeks but couldn't resist.

I think it'll be lovely having a newborn at Xmas, it's my favourite time of the year and if things go to plan I'll have a month off work before baby is due to get everything organised. Can't wait!

Beccarans89 · 16/06/2020 13:29

Hi all! I hope everyone is doing ok. I have been catching up on this group most days and will be making a conscious effort to post more! I struggle sometimes with anxiety so you have all been life savers - so nice to read all your experiences and lots of us experiencing the same types of things!

I've been a bit anxious these last few days as we have a private scan tonight so hubby can come (the wait until 6.30 feels ages though!) hopefully we will see that all is ok with baby and find out the gender.

It does seem that we are in an in-between time at the moment in the midst of the long wait between scans, as well as waiting for movements etc! I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and have felt random bubbles and flutters but nothing that definitely says it's baby!

Names wise, for a girl we love Lydia. Boys wise I like Miles and my husband likes Theo so we will have to see what the scan shows later!

Has anyone else been buying things? It's been helpful to see what people have been starting to get! I'm a FTM so it's all a bit of a minefield! Xx

Beccarans89 · 16/06/2020 13:31

@NatalieH2220 that's exciting about the next2me! We have got one as well and got a really good deal off of Facebook marketplace. Felt odd getting it so early but like you say, hard to pass it up if it's a bargain! X

kkr168 · 16/06/2020 13:54

We were given a next to me crib from our friend, will just need to get a new mattress, got the pushchair, growbags, quite a few outfits, another friend is giving me her sling & I've stared crocheting a baby blanket.
Unless some absolute bargains come up, I doubt I'll be buying much more for a while

peachypetite · 16/06/2020 14:13

@EithneBlue that’s so exciting!

PipTed · 16/06/2020 14:37

We ordered a Moses basket over the weekend and it’s arriving today! 🎉 we also got a few clothes for the baby as we panicked that we couldn’t see many newborn bits in the shops, so started off our little stockpile!

Oh and we’ve bought the first bits for the nursery, see pic 🤗🤗🤗 (please ignore mess on bed - bed and mess will be moved before baby comes)

We don’t know what we’re having and won’t find out, we’ve just decided not to paint the entire room as we only just finished decorating when we found out we were expecting. 😂

So far I've only bought a Dumbo changing mat, and a felt garland kit of woodland animals! 😂 My mum has bought a couple of bits of clothes, and she has some handmade stuff from when my brother and I were babies that my grandma and mum's friends knitted. Also a friend is lending us her snuzpod so just need to buy a new mattress for that nearer the time.

confused107 · 16/06/2020 14:51

@PipTed I love the nursery bits where are they from? Has anyone seen the 'show me your nursery' thread on here? Some really lovely ideas. Tbh I find it hard to get excited about baby stuff (especially as I'm still filled with fear of something going wrong!) but I love home decor so I am excited about decorating the nursery. I think it will be the first thing we do after I know everything is ok at 20 weeks. We will find out the sex, but I'm not massively into the pink and blue thing so would like to do a neutral jungle/animal theme like you have

kkr168 · 16/06/2020 15:05

@PipTed they are so cute!!

peachypetite · 16/06/2020 15:14

@confused107the nursery thread is wonderful and more helpful than unrealistic Instagram and Pinterest images. I’m also thinking something animal based. It’s a big room and I’d also like it to be more of a playroom so that my living room can still feel adult.

PipTed · 16/06/2020 15:51

@confused107 @kkr168 thank you.

The animals are from h&m and I think the mirror was from Etsy. I think once the Moses basket arrives I will leave it at that for now, don’t want to over do it before 20 week scan.

I’m just aware that everything costs so much, so trying to get bits as and when so I don’t feel like I’m spending every last penny on baby stuff in October.

We also want the room to be like a play room too, as I can’t stand trying to relax in clutter 🙈

Dee96 · 16/06/2020 17:23

@PipTed @ChampooPapi oh my gosh no I dont recall being told to book! I literally just left straight after a chat with my midwife and bloods. In all honesty I was so overwhelmed with the scan she did mention the appointments but It must have gone past me and here was me waiting for a letter in the post to arrive! I do have an appointment for a phone consultation with the obstetrician on the 30th but I doubt that's related. Which unit should I call?

kkr168 · 16/06/2020 18:56

@Dee96 I wasn't told to book mine after the 12 week scan, they'd just booked it for me. Call the ultrasound department at your local maternity hospital

Kj1010 · 16/06/2020 19:01

So feeling a little anxious today as keep getting these dull twinges in my groin area havent spoke to midwive dunno why but normally when stressed I drink a beer so walked to the shop and brought a zero alchol beer do any of you ladys drink a non alcohol beverage had to google to make sure was ok I have read twinges can be round ligament pain or pelvic pain but really got me a little anxious

Babyhope98 · 16/06/2020 19:01

I had my gender scan today and my partner was able to attend, after the baby was being stubborn to my relief they were able to see the gender. I am having a girl as many have predicted, I think I knew deep down. Was so lovely to see her they said everything was looking perfect 🥰🥰🥰 they managed to get a 4D picture of her

chubbyhotchoc · 16/06/2020 19:07

@Babyhope98 aww so sweet with her little hand up by her face

Awkes · 16/06/2020 19:18

Congratulations @Babyhope98 🥳❤️
@Kj1010 I had my 16 week today and asked midwife about pains as having similar. She assured me all normal stretching and not to worry
Anyone started looking at classes yet? I know it’s early. Don’t want to pay nct rates. Mostly only going to meet local mums if I’m honest. Most questions I’ve had have been answered by books and people on here and planning for my mum to stay with us the first few days after babies home. Am I mad to feel a bit not bothered?

Kj1010 · 16/06/2020 19:27

@awkes ahh right my midwive call ain't till the 7th of july be 17 weeks then but ty for letting me know feels a little reassuring to know not the only one

Dee96 · 16/06/2020 19:34

@Babyhope98 congrats on the little girl💓

Dee96 · 16/06/2020 19:39

@Kj1010 I've been having all the little twinges and aches and pains you've been describing but in all honesty I'd be more concerned if I wasnt! This is the rapid baby growth stage they grow the most the quickest in the next couple of weeks so I'd expect nothing more but cramps and pains as our bellies and babies grow hope that eases you a little bit try to think of it as a sign for a good thing x

Kj1010 · 16/06/2020 19:46

@dee96 see I worry about aches and pains due to having a miscarriage but do feel more at ease with u ladies saying use have similar niggles xxx

110APiccadilly · 16/06/2020 19:51

It's reassuring to hear that others have been having aches and cramps as well - I've been really achy today and was starting to worry something was wrong.

I think I might be able to feel baby move, but I'm not sure. I've felt a sort of fluttering a couple of times recently.

excitednerves · 16/06/2020 20:07

So much to catch up on!

To add to the names discussion I love
girls - Beatrice, Leonie, Isadora
Boys - Oscar, Rafael, I also liked Felix but husband doesn’t

I have my 16 wk appt on Friday but my consultant is wrapping it into my consultant appointment.

@PipTed I love the nursery bits!

PipTed · 16/06/2020 20:21

@excitednerves we love Oscar too! It’s lovely, been one of my favourites for a while now. ❤️

Thanks re: nursery. I could easily get carried away in there, but need to refrain!
