I’ve told DH that as soon as I go into labour he needs to go to the shops and get me aperol and prosecco so I can have a spritz upon arrival home! I am missing them so much!!!

peachypetite · 16/06/2020 10:20

I’m delighted the baby will be here before Christmas. It’s also a lovely time of year, relaxed, lots of friends and family off work to help and bring on the Brie and champagne!

RestorationInsanity · 16/06/2020 10:21

Yes so many people say "oh no, not a December/Christmas baby" but I think it's wonderful! Even if I went 2 weeks overdue, baby will be here by 18th.

PipTed · 16/06/2020 10:23

@RestorationInsanity I think it just really all depends on your build and how you carry weight and babies?!

I’m petite and have a bump, But that is because I genuinely think it has nowhere else to go other than out?! I’m paranoid that I’m looking too pregnant/chunky?! 😂

I really think everything will be healthy with your baby, and you just carry your baby in your own way; you’ll get a bump when you have no more room anywhere else and one day will just pop out! 😊

Avo3 · 16/06/2020 10:25

Hi ladies! OMG, have I missed so much! Hope everyone is keeping well :-) I'm 16 weeks now and stopped folic acid because the bottle finished - didn't know it could cause constipation, and look forward to folic acid-free life 😂 I see some of you also suffer from allergy. I have Cetrizin Chydrocloride, and not sure if I should be taking it 🤔 any experience? PS. Can't wait for baby's first moves in the coming weeks! By the way, I've only put on 1lb so far, and still it fluctuates down sometimes. I'm sure I will catch up quickly, but no big bump yet!

roro87 · 16/06/2020 10:29

@RestorationInsanity I was literally sitting here feeling the exact same way, now I do have a bump I have only gained 2lb from when I last weighed myself pre pregnancy. I'm not feeling any movement so wondering if everything is still going OK in there granted it is my first baby so really don't know what to expect. My private scan is Sat week so hopefully that will ease my mind. Also have my 16 week app next week (@17 w 5d)

RestorationInsanity · 16/06/2020 10:30

Thanks ladies. I am reasonably tall/have along torso, so perhaps there is just more room to stretch up before stretching out!

It's strange I felt so reassured after the last scan and have felt so positive, but now it's been a few weeks, and still a few weeks until the next one, the doubts start to creep in again!

RestorationInsanity · 16/06/2020 10:32

@roro87 will be lovely for you to see baby again.

I'm wondering about asking someone to listen to baby's heartbeat when I go to the GP for whooping cough jab, but not sure they would do that just for reassurance.

Pinktruffle · 16/06/2020 10:34

I'm meant to have my 16 week appointment today. It was booked for me to attend in person but at my 12 week scan they said it would be over the phone. However, my 12 week scan was with a different NHS Trust as I'm giving birth in an out of area hospital. I tried texting my midwife, she has never responded to a text yet despite saying it was the best way to contact her and still hasnt replied. I tried calling this morning and the phone was switched off. I've left a message and asked her to let me know. No idea what to do now

roro87 · 16/06/2020 10:37

I know my doctor would do it and did do it when I was sick at 10 weeks once I understood it might be too early. I think @RestorationInsanity there is absolutely no harm in asking

ChampooPapi · 16/06/2020 11:08

Also still not feeling any movement to speak of and I've got two in there, 17 weeks today. It's very normal not to feel anything until more like 20 weeks, and beyond that even if your placenta is anterior

I know, I have like 8 more appointments, but there's only two scans on the NHS, and I think the reassurance of those is super important. Worth considering a private scan if you do start to get a little anxious! I would definitely try and keep calm though Wink Flowers
Pinktruffle · 16/06/2020 11:21

After 45 of minutes of calling different numbers and being on hold, I finally got hold of someone that told me my midwife left on Friday! No one has any idea if my appointment is happening today. They will try and find out and call me back..... I guess I better not hold my breath....

Avo3 · 16/06/2020 11:35

@Pinktruffle arg - this couldn't be more frustrating! Hope it sorts itself out shortly.

ChampooPapi · 16/06/2020 11:36

I meant especially if your placenta is anterior 🤦

OP posts:
kkr168 · 16/06/2020 11:43

@roro87 I have an anterior placenta, at my 16 week phone consultation she said I would start to feel movements anytime from now up till 24 weeks. The baby has been very active, kicking his legs all over when I've been scanned, so hopefully I'll feel movements sooner rather then later.

lc86 · 16/06/2020 11:52

I've put on 14lb and I'm only 15+2!! I put on 5st on my 2nd pregnancy which was absolutely ridiculous, I can not let that happen again!! She was 9lb13 in the end! I had a letter through for my 20 week scan, it's on 17th July.. sorry to hear about those with back struggles, it's hard enough being pregnant without that! x

peachypetite · 16/06/2020 12:03

I definitely don’t have a bump in just at that stage where I look fat! First baby though.

confused107 · 16/06/2020 12:08

@pinktruffle that sounds like hard work today hope you get sorted

Sorry to hear about everyone's back pains and difficulties with appointments

I've been wondering about the weight thing too. I'm 16 weeks on Thursday and I'm still lighter than when I found out I was pregnant. I am still in my normal clothes but I am starting to get a belly overhang in my jeans. I'm still really struggling with nausea and lack of appetite. It's such a struggle to eat. I'm mostly surviving on super noodles, crackers and salt and vinegar crisps. I'm desperate to start eating properly again but it's just so hard. I've also had a banging headache since Sunday. I don't know what's causing it as I'm drinking plenty but I'm trying to avoid taking stuff for it. It's just a bit disheartening as I thought I'd be feeling better by now. Anyone else still suffering or have any tips?

RunnerGirl123 · 16/06/2020 12:08

I definitely just look like I have eaten a few too many pies in lockdown, but I like to pretend it's a bump for now.

I don't think I've felt any movements, and in my scans baby wasnt moving much so worried I won't feel them for aaages. Gona try have a chocolate bar before tomorrow's scan to see if that helps them be a bit more active in the scan!

chubbyhotchoc · 16/06/2020 12:14

My first I didn't feel until 18 weeks according to the diary I kept. This one has been rumbling about since nearly 15 weeks. Worried she's huge lol. She kicks me in the hip if I try to lay on my side I've noticed

Awkes · 16/06/2020 12:24

I got excited this morning thinking I’d felt movement but turns out I was just hungry which is how I am constantly atm. Got my 16 week today, face to face luckily! I’m dreading to think how much I’ve put on, I feel huge already 🤰🏻

Pinktruffle · 16/06/2020 12:28

Someone finally got back to me! It'll be a telephone appointment. Glad they got in touch when they did as I was getting ready to set off for the surgery

EithneBlue · 16/06/2020 12:57

I put on, like... 2.5kg in the first 14 weeks... but haven't put on any more since then. I don't weigh myself all that often (normally I go by the fit of my clothes) but have done more since being pregnant. At the moment I'm not worrying too much - just eating reasonably and exercising (a bit) and hoping my body figures it out.

Just had my "16 Week" appointment by phone (at 17+3 LOL) -- she said my bloods were all normal and my iron levels were really good :-) She did reassure me that all my appointments going forwards will be in person, and she totally understood my frustration with the scan situation which was nice :-) Apparently I should also get my whooping cough vaccine at the 20 week scan appointment.

20 week scan is 3 weeks tomorrow (8th July). Hopefully someone at the hospital will realise that they need to fix their partner policy before then ;)

On movements, I never knew what people meant when they said they couldn't tell if it was baby or gas: now I think I get it. I think I've felt movement in the last few days, but I could never be 100% sure that it wasn't a fart brewing. I guess it'll become more noticeable in the next few weeks!

Snowwhite2020 · 16/06/2020 13:04

Sorry to hear about your bother with the midwife service @Pinktruffle and glad you got it sorted!

@confused107 I am still sick but it is finally improving. Salt and vinegar crisps are my main food group girl 🙋🏻‍♀️ Are you still vomiting? Are you on any meds? Xx
