Is anyone else finding it weird doing the deed with a growing bump? Sorry if it’s TMI but I’m finding it very odd...

chubbyhotchoc · 03/06/2020 21:21

@PipTed I was going to ask about this. I've been avoiding sex altogether and dh is fed up. I'm really scared of causing a miscarriage. Am I the only one avoiding?

EithneBlue · 03/06/2020 21:24

@PipTed I honestly haven't wanted to. My poor husband... Blush

Pinktruffle · 03/06/2020 21:29

My husband is the one avoiding it! I've tried to initiate a couple of times and he's flat out refused till after the baby is born. He's scared he is going to hurt the baby despite my reassurances.

RestorationInsanity · 03/06/2020 21:29

I think I'm the only one without a bump! Noone but me would even know I was pregnant (except maybe from the extra boobs!) I'm only 14 weeks on Friday, I'm sure it will come.

We did have sex a couple of times in first trimester but I'm too tired by the time we go to bed. I'm hoping to make more of an effort as I would like to.

PipTed · 03/06/2020 21:32

@chubbyhotchoc @EithneBlue I’ve only tried twice (both after the 12 week scan) as I was scared it might cause something to happen. It wasn’t the most enjoyable experience - everything feels different.

I’ve spoken to a few of my friends and one of them didn’t do it at all throughout her pregnancy and others went wild for it! So it’s definitely not for everyone!

I really don’t know if I should keep trying and hope it starts getting better?

EithneBlue · 03/06/2020 21:38

@RestorationInsanity - nah, I am barely showing at 15+4 - it's mostly been bloat preventing my shorts from doing up!

@PipTed - I think it's like ... subconscious anxiety... maybe? I genuinely just haven't wanted to. At all. I'm hoping that changes!

kkr168 · 03/06/2020 21:47

@RestorationInsanity I got this one, absolute bargain direct.asda.com/george/baby/hospital-list/kinder-valley-12ft-maternity-pillow/050297393,default,pd.html

PipTed · 03/06/2020 21:48

@EithneBlue maybe it is some sort of anxiety. I don’t really feel in the mood, either.

@RestorationInsanity when I lay down my bump is really prominent, yeah. When I stand up it is making its appearance but not mega obvious, I am 15 weeks.

RunnerGirl123 · 03/06/2020 22:16

We haven't done it because of the progesterone pessaries but I stopped them yesterday so I'm hoping in a few days we'll be able to start again soon! I miss the intimacy!! Not sure if we'll find it weird when the time comes though, and I'll probably worry about whether it might cause spotting but I don't think I'll last til the end of the 9 months haha! I've had so many sexy dreams in the last few weeks haha!

Icantthinkofanickname123456 · 03/06/2020 22:35

@PipTed I was loved sex while I was first pregnant then the morning sickness hit and I was really put off, it’s only been the last 2 weeks I’ve started to initiate things again. My OH said he didn’t want to pester me so just to let him know when I want it and he’s very much always happy to oblige. Not finding it weird per se although I have been getting pain where I have a large cyst on my ovary which is annoying but on the other hand I have also found the hormones or whatever have been making my orgasms so much stronger and last longer (sorry if TMI).

chubbyhotchoc · 03/06/2020 22:37

@Icantthinkofanickname123456 I'm really scared of orgasms. I keep thinking they'll make my uterus shake lol

EithneBlue · 03/06/2020 23:05

@kkr168 I am loving my pillow when I get to use it... I keep waking up to find husband has stolen it and is hugging it 😂

110APiccadilly · 04/06/2020 07:23

I haven't really got a bump yet but I'm not 14 weeks until Saturday and I have a bit of extra padding about where bump would be already (it's the first place excess weight always goes on me, and the last place it leaves) which I suppose might make the bump less obvious.

110APiccadilly · 04/06/2020 07:26

My top half, on the other hand... not only do my bras not fit (at, of course, the time when I can't go to M&S to get measured, which is what I normally do) but some of my t-shirts don't really fit either!

KrissyMB · 04/06/2020 08:41

Hey Ladies!@ChampooPapi think I was on a thread with you before! Just to let you know we have a fb page set up alot of us due near end of November/start of December if anyone would like to join. Its called D25N so quite discrete and a private group. Come along and say hello :)

Snowwhite2020 · 04/06/2020 08:50

I’m starting to get a bump now and we had an additional private scan last night so my husband could see the baby, which was magic :) the placenta has grown so much in just a few weeks since the 12 week scan- I couldn’t quite believe it! My sickness is getting much better and I looked at the placenta and felt I could see why lol 😂Baby bigger too- more leggy!

I was going to ask if anyone else keeps waking up with bad headaches? This is my new symptom. A few days ago I was still sick in the morning but now it’s headaches that lift by lunchtime... just in the morning tho for some reason. Xx

Awkes · 04/06/2020 08:53

Hi I’m new 👋
Due December 1st with my first baby and completely stressed with my whole experience. Can anyone tell me what’s normal?
Had my booking appt on the phone (all fine) and then dating scan and screening tests all done same day. At no point did any midwife give me more than a minutes attention and I was just really overwhelmed and not sure what I was supposed to be doing. At the end of the appt they gave me my notes which also included a letter for my 20 week scan but no further info. Wasn’t given a named midwife or any info on 16 week scan and in a haze I just assumed it was all in hand and I would get a call. So today I get a call with my screening results because I’ve tested high for hcg they’ve offered me an amnio (whole other drama) After chatting with my partner and calming down I ring back to refuse and figure I’ll ask about my 16 week. The woman completely blanks me and says to talk to “my midwife” so I say I have no idea who that is and she goes on the computer and says I’ve not been listed with one and then tells me to call another line. Called the number and eventually get through to someone who says I fall under an area team but no name and makes an appt for me. So I asked if I should of been making the appts like is it my mistake and she just says “well I’ve made this one for you” and anything else I need can be discussed at my 16 week appt and that’s it.
Am I crazy? I just feel completely lost in the system and no one will stop and tell me what I’m supposed to be doing or who to talk to. Trying to be understanding as Covid has everything messed up but I’m just desperate for someone to give me some advice on what to expect.

Thanks ladies 🙏🏻

Snowwhite2020 · 04/06/2020 08:59

Hi @Awkes I’m sorry to hear about your chaotic experience with the midwife/ prenatal care in your area. I have found all my appointments to be rushed and most has been done on the phone but to be fair I was given a named midwife at the booking in meeting and I have phoned her a few times... I personally don’t feel it will be your fault that you did not have a name. I hope they get this sorted for you and that you get the support you need. Also sorry to hear about the stress caused by your Hcg results- you really do need a midwife to help you navigate everything and also just to talk about how you are feeling. Pregnancy can be a overwhelming at the best of times. I think there are some ladies on here with more experience of high Hcg results so I hope they will be able to give you advice. I have heard of a harmony test which I know @ChampooPapi understands and can explain about. Is that something you have had/ considered in order to give you some more info? I think it’s a blood test. Love to you and welcome 💕

peachypetite · 04/06/2020 09:07

Fuck sake I’ve been sick this morning. Fed up of hearing how everything is better in the second trimester!

Snowwhite2020 · 04/06/2020 09:10

@peachypetite you have my sympathy... it’s rough :/

nearlyamummyof3 · 04/06/2020 09:11

@peachypetite I've been sick every single morning!
And now have pregnancy rhinitis so my nose bleeds when I'm sick and I throw up blood!
I definetely don't feel better so feel your pain sister!!!
Shall we keep our fingers crossed for the third 😂 x

Awkes · 04/06/2020 09:12

Hi @Snowwhite2020 thanks so much for replying!
I’m glad I’m not imagining it all! Finding it hard to know when I’m being insane or not with all these hormones. Usually a really laidback person so it’s been a shock all these hormones. I’m feeling quite calm about the whole hcg thing weirdly. Turns out my OH’s mum had exactly the same when she was pregnant with him. Discussed it and came to the conclusion that even if we knew 100% baby had downs it would change nothing for us so we’re just leaving it to fate. Have booked a private scan for this afternoon tho just for a bit of reassurance.
I’ve joined the fb group (just waiting to be accepted). I don’t really know anyone who’s pregnant or been pregnant in the last 20 years 😂 so really looking to find people I can have a moan with in solidarity

peachypetite · 04/06/2020 09:16

Yeh I’ve not been sick that many times but I’m 14+4 and still have no appetite, food aversion and now some nice vomiting to top it all off. And none of my clothes fit and everything I order online is wrong!

chubbyhotchoc · 04/06/2020 09:24

@Awkes sorry you've felt unsupported. I haven't had much contact with midwives either. They pretty much leave you to your own devices. What kind of scan have you booked? Just to warn you that unless you've booked for something specific they don't tell you much at private places. They won't be able to give you any indication why the hcg was high for example. I had a harmony test done with scan at 12 weeks at ultrasound direct and when I asked about soft markers for abnormalities at the scan part of the appointment the woman doing it said 'I'm not trained for that'. It was the harmony blood test and my nhs scan that gave me the information I wanted. I think some private places are better than others though.
