I find the very grey nursery trend quite strange keeping in mind that colours are actually a great stimulus for babies. It's the one time in their life that you can be really out there with colourful stuff. I won't be having a gendered coloured nursery as we don't know what we are having but it will be colourful and not neutral.

FudgeFlies · 12/06/2020 17:15

@Pink15 not sure if you use Instagram but I’ve been getting inspiration by searching for hashtags such as #nurseryinspo #naturalnursery #babynursery etc. Also look at pages such as mamas and papas tagged photos

Hancock2020 · 12/06/2020 17:39

Has anyone bought nursery stuff from online 4 baby?
Im torn between using them or silver cross has a 50% off sale at the moment on their furniture

HarrietM87 · 12/06/2020 17:40

@Pink15 I didn’t decorate my son’s nursery until he was about 1. He slept in our room til then so although we used his room as a dumping ground for his stuff it wasn’t really “his”. We didn’t find out the sex and I wanted to wait until we got to know him. He was really into animals (as most babies are!) when we did it so we chose a really bright fun animal wallpaper plus a frieze and the rest of the room is a lovely blue grey. This is the wallpaper: www.gowallpaper.co.uk/arthouse-jungle-mania-multi-wallpaper-696008.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6pjwndv86QIVB7LtCh3IogoREAQYBCABEgIibPD_BwE#utm_source=google_shopping

Anyway it’s really bright and he absolutely loved it and still does. It’s totally gender neutral and will be fine for years yet. I completely agree with @Pinktruffle it’s a shame to try to go too “tasteful” with babies - they love being stimulated by bright colours and patterns. you can have the rest of the house grey if you want it!

HarrietM87 · 12/06/2020 17:41

@Hancock2020 I think we got our car seat from their - they’ve often got good deals on. Delivery etc all fine.

HarrietM87 · 12/06/2020 17:41

There not their!

Hancock2020 · 12/06/2020 17:49

I already have car seat and pram (also silver cross) was just wondering about furniture items?
I wish mothercare was still around 🥺

Pinktruffle · 12/06/2020 17:52

I've seen a cot and drawers set on Online 4 baby which is a quarter of the price of the ones I've seen at Mamas and Papas but I do have concerns about quality so would love to hear other peoples experiences too

Pink15 · 12/06/2020 17:56

Thankyou all!

@HarrietM87 what gorgeous wall paper!

HarrietM87 · 12/06/2020 19:35

@Hancock2020 Had a quick look on online4baby and they seem to be selling mothercare furniture plus “little acorns” (not a brand I’ve heard of) among others. They seem to have reviews as well.

We didn’t buy any nursery furniture as such (other than a cot obviously) and kind of don’t understand it. Why do people get it? Is it so the wardrobe matches the cot or because it’s smaller size or something? We have a standard chest of drawers for my son and there’s a built in wardrobe in his room. We used a £20 Ikea changing table for a few weeks at first before realising it was much safer to change him on the floor.

Hancock2020 · 12/06/2020 20:42

All we're looking at is the cot and the drawers with changing unit on top so we have some where to put the baby clothes.
However mother is insisting we have the wardrobe as well which I dont think we need but she's insisting that because she's buying she decides 🙄
But I'm having bigger issues with mother at the moment so that's the least of my worries.

Murphy1999 · 12/06/2020 21:28

@HarrietM87 thank you, I know it contains aspirin from recent googling lol, I am already on a Hugh dose of it daily, until the baby is here x

Murphy1999 · 12/06/2020 22:18

Has anyone ever used the body shops body butters and do you rate them ? I do always use moisturisers on my bump but not finding one I like at the moment

littlegem84 · 13/06/2020 05:47

@Hancock20 I'd say the wardrobe we have in our son's room is a waste of space - a heat of drawers makes so much more sense.

Hancock2020 · 13/06/2020 08:38

@littlegem84 I agree with you, but my mother doesnt seem to be giving me much of a choice.
If she does buy it I might just store it until we actually need it at some point when baby is older

overandoverafail · 13/06/2020 10:29

I'm probably In The minority but I actually loved DCs wardrobe, made storing snowsuits coats etc much easier than having them take up so much space in drawers. I also stored all the bedding etc on the bottom of the wardrobe which meant we could use the drawers for baby grows, nappies, wipes, creams etc and because they are so much smaller than normal wardrobes we could store other bits and pieces on the top out of reach of DC but still easy for an adult to get hold of.

Hancock2020 · 13/06/2020 11:18

It's just taken me 2 whole days to find my marriage certificate.
This baby brain is killing me lol
Tried reading through my solicitors paperwork for the mortgage yesterday, and oh my days I've never felt more overwhelmed and confused 😂🥴

NS34 · 13/06/2020 11:21

@Murphy1999 I use the body shop body butters and love them. I find they are the only thing that works for my skin which tends to be really dry. Currently using the satsuma or strawberry ones as I have completely gone off the smell of any of the others at the moment.

Murphy1999 · 13/06/2020 13:10

@NS34 thank you I've ordered two off them for the bump
Thanks for replying x

Hancock2020 · 13/06/2020 13:45

Dh has found a new job thank god, but today has been the first time in 3 months I've been home alone. I'm feeling a bit lonely 🥺

Pinktruffle · 13/06/2020 14:42

I can imagine it's quite strange @Hancock2020, my DH has been working at home since March, I will find it hard when he goes back to work. I work in a school so I'm at home till at least September if not longer.

Great news that he has found work though, must be a worry off your minds

NatalieH2220 · 13/06/2020 15:24

Pink15 · 13/06/2020 16:04

@NatalieH2220 congratulations! 💙💙

Does anyone else keep misjudging their bump? I go to wash my hands in the sink and end up hitting my bump lol

NatalieH2220 · 13/06/2020 16:13

Thank you! I'll be 17 weeks Monday it was a private scan. I was getting a bit anxious so I'm over the moon baby is doing well. Looking forward to feeling some movements soon
